Sorry for the delay! I’m HOPING to continue updating the comic once every three weeks while I’m in the academy (which should be until September). Studying for exams and such could change that, but luckily so far it seems like everything we’re learning is just refresher for me (to the point that my classmates tried to replace the instructor with me today <///<).

Whatever the temporary schedule, don’t worry! Forgery WILL continue to update!

Also I’m playing with the new scanner, I’m still not quite happy with how pixelated this panels come out on it, but let me know what you think, open to suggestions at this point!

Honestly after all the blood, characters, and difficult angles from last update, this scene really felt like a cake walk to draw. Sorry for leaving things on a cliffhanger again, it’s not on purpose. The final scenes of this arc kind of happen all at once so there’s a lot of back and forth. That said there SHOULD only be two more updates left to this arc (might bump up to three if I can’t fit everything in)! ^w^

The end is near! Feel like this arc has been going on forever. There should be only seven parts left now (not counting potential bonus comics). That’s the plan at least. Cherri and Baris in particular have a tendency to create more scenes. Their dialogue is so easy to write, they tend to write themselves. Originally I was really dreading this scene since it was so dialogue heavy. I thought it would be really boring to draw, but these actually turned out to be some of my favorite Crymini close-ups and group-shots I’ve drawn in a while. I do feel like I kinda cheated some readers out of Alastor this week since he doesn’t make a physical appearance, but don’t worry he’ll get plenty of screen time toward the end of this arc! ^w^

First off thank ALL of you for reading! Genuinely surprised by how much positive and supportive fan mail I got responding to the last comic update. Seriously I was a bit worried with all the blood and the general violence directed toward some of your favorite characters, glad you all enjoyed it so much. XD

Originally I was going to jump straight to Charlie and Husk’s scene but it was just too much to cram into ONE comic so I started it here and wrote up a quick scene for Niffty to lead into it. I’m actually really happy with that fluke cuz it let me expand a lot more on Niffty’s values and why she chooses to work for Charlie. Also she and Larry are just fun to draw, and Husk’s gonna hog the story for the next few comics so I’m gonna miss drawing them. XD

Ya know I planned on really showing off a fancy background for Baxter and Crymini’s scene, but there were so many close-ups the most I got to show were the two escalators (if you can even tell that’s what they are). Still it’s just great to be drawing those two dorks again! And I got to have fun with Niffty and Larry’s scene. Steadily getting better at maintaining their size ratios. It’s hard to keep them straight since Niffty’s so tiny and Larry’s such a giant. Also I definitely made Larry’s jacket Niffty’s babushka coat shrink in more than a few panels by accident. ...I’ll get the hang of them eventually, I promise. XD

I’ll explain... eventually...

Probably not in one massive arc, but in scattered flashbacks throughout the series. Lucifer’s death is a major plot point for many of the characters and will be touched on as the series continues. Honestly a lot of things will. I mean over two or more years ago Niffty finding dead bodies was just a footnote. You’d be surprised how much has been planned in advance. A LOT of things revolve around Lucifer’s death. Lilith’s death is also very pivotal moment for Charlie in particular. There’s a complete backstory for why and HOW the hotel project was created and more will be revealed as Forgery continues.

There are a lot of inbox questions piled up that are just on hold until certain events reveal themselves. I wish I could get the answers to you all sooner, but I really want to make sure that all the things building up to those reveals are just as satisfying as the reveals themselves, that way the comic will be worth re-reading again and again.

Really tempted to draw a little old lady Niffty now. ...Maybe if I ever make her daydream about Larry I’ll have her romanticize about growing old together or something sweet like that. ...ya know it’s funny I feel like I always have a million things I wanna write in the description until the moment I actually have to write it and then the only thing that ever goes through my head is “This was really fun to draw!” ...so that’s it... that’s all I got. Thanks for giving me a reason to draw these. Especially these dorks! I’m glad they’re in the spotlight again. X3

The importance of storyboarding...

I didn’t storyboard this week. I just dove right in. And as a result the bottom left panel (which I actually really liked) had to be redrawn into the panel on the bottom right. I actually REALLY like how the original panel looked, but Crymini’s emotion just didn’t match the dialogue. The scene flows much better with the redraw, but I really did like that pose... just not for that scene. ...So for the record, when I do close up panels with no backgrounds it’s not out of laziness but because I’m actually trying deliver the best possible scene! I’ll get plenty more chances to show Crymini being more loose with her emotions anyway.

I’ll admit I had a really hard time trying to keep heights consistent in this scene. Not only are Angel and Larry two of the tallest characters in the series, but they make up that height very differently. Larry’s mostly made up of his arms and torso where Angel is mostly legs. So even though they both tower equally over Niffty, she comes up to Larry’s stomach but only about midway to Angel’s thigh... her scenes with Larry are gonna take a lot of getting used to. Hopefully the inconsistencies weren’t TOO noticeable this comic. Thanks for reading! Happy Year of the Rat! ^w^
