oh i absolutely agree with the idea that nicky enjoys dancing/can dance well. part of me is picturing him learning to dance for the purpose of impressing joe and the other part is like “what if he was able to dance well BEFORE he met joe” but i doubt with his background he would’ve been especially good dancer pre crusades (weird question but like, did they have dances pre crusades?? like upon a simple google search i can’t find anything about european dancing pre the 15th century.) so i think ultimately i’m leaning towards the first idea. (also according to wikipedia the first detailed description of dance was from italy in 1451! 👀 so like. hmm) but like i’m picturing nicky secretly learning dance without joe’s knowledge in an attempt to impress him with dance once nicky has gotten a better grasp on it.
as for the the dance at the con, YES to the women approaching nicky for a dance and being all “we don’t mind if you step on our toes” and batting their eyelashes at him and just, assuming, based on their interactions with him that he’s not good at dance and them him literally and figuratively sweeping them off their feet on the dance floor. (or, alternatively, he tries to pretend he’s bad at dance for the sake of the character that he built but his love of dancing kinda takes over and by the end of the night he’s exposed himself as a lovely dancer) - 2ta

i did the same exact shitting thing asdfghjk
also the idea of nicky learning to dance to seduce joe like a bird doing a mating ritual is >>>>>
& i imagine they had some kind of dancing at the time, since dancing is such a weirdly almost instinctual thing (i mean even babies and toddlers kind of dance before they know what it is) so id be shocked if they didnt. im guessing that Dance Maneuvers werent just recorded much during the time. but yeah i would?... think that nicky wouldnt have had any kind of formal dance training. unless the ppl who theorize he was some kind of nobility (bc priests were usually rich ppl i think? idk) are right and maybe dance lessons were included in that. idk
(nicky making dancing Mainstream in the 1400s. hmmmmmm)
