After a while (she couldn't say how long exactly), she'd stopped doing the math in her head. Stopped trusting it, more like, started doubting that she was carrying the ones in the right way, wondered if this was punishment for drawing when she should've been paying attention during math...so she'd added it to the little WORLD CLOCK widget on her phone, just a tiny line that reminded her in no uncertain terms that it was already tomorrow where he was, that a new day had already begun.

She stared at the blinking cursor of the text box, checked the time, went back again; it was late over there, she knew, late-late too, the kind of late that some people called early, so it wouldn't really be fair to text him, would it? What if he'd already been asleep and she woke him - or worse, what if he'd just been about to fall asleep and she ruined it?

Just when she thought she'd spend the rest of her day like that, staring at the cursor blink and blink, her phone buzzed in her hands, nearly startling her into dropping it.

'a quick time traveling message from the future: i miss you,' Nick's message read, and all Abi could do was smile and laugh and try not to tear up as she sat wondering which was funnier, that he'd read her mind like that or how homesick she was feeling for a place she'd never even visited.

I wanted to try out a chibi style so I whipped these up with some help from some IG moots :3

I def wanna make a few of these into stickers since a lot of people expressed interest in them! I'd love some advice on where to start with that since I want to send them out myself but avoid the headache of making an etsy shop and dealing with the taxes and fees that come along with that.

There had been a moment where she'd been sprawled on the bathroom floor, one arm flung over the toilet like Rose clinging to the door in Titanic, where Abi had been convinced - totally and completely - that she'd done something truly heinous in a past life. How else could she explain the perfect storm of blech she found herself awash in, a tsunami caused by jet lag, change in altitude, unfamiliar food, and (the one she wanted to think about the least) breathing recycled plane air full of other people's germs for as long as she had?

She'd since gotten off the bathroom floor and relocated to the couch, but honestly, the past life thing didn't seem any less likely even with a pillow under her head instead of porcelain.

...or it didn't, anyway, until she felt the couch dip and a cool hand gingerly brush her hair back out of her face once, then again, then again, moving slowly and rhythmically until the pounding in her head went fuzzy at the edges. Became smaller, unimportant...and then finally faded completely as she dropped off into a much-needed nap.

And of course she had no way of knowing whether Nick stayed with her the entire time she slept, but...when she opened her eyes again, the shadows cast by the blinds were longer than they had been before and his fingers were still softly carding through her hair, and to her, that was answer enough.
