Literally my first battle in this entire game and it’s a critical.

If only the rest of the game were this nice to me.

This is one reason why I love Roy so much. He’s your standard kindhearted protagonist who dislikes senseless killing and violence, but he has no issues taking somebody’s life if the situation is dire enough. Yes, he wanted to end the war peacefully, but when that no longer became an option, he switched gears on a dime. He is truly a great strategist, and is able to set his emotions aside when he needs to.

The only reason my tactics are so low is because I spent 41 and a half hours in this game, entirely because of the fast forward button on my emulator and my arena grinding.

I’m pretty sure almost any dragon can make other dragons. It just probably takes a while with the whole...fertilizing the egg and waiting for it to hatch and then waiting for it to grow up. Actually this brings about an interesting question: can dragons in human form (manakete) reproduce the same way that humans do? Like if two manakete get frisky while in human form, can one of them get pregnant? And if so, can a manakete mate with a human and produce a human-dragon hybrid? Because Nils and Ninian were dragons, and if you get Ninian an A Support with Eliwood, they get married and she becomes Roy’s mother, making Roy himself a dragon-human hybrid. So...I just proved my own theory using basic recollection of future games.

...Kind of a shame Roy doesn’t have a canon mother because this would be a really interesting plot thread to go through.

#TBT to the worst chapter in Fire Emblem HISTORY.

GOD I hate this chapter. It’s so STRESSFUL. There’s just...so much to DO. Like, in order to get all of the post-chapter rewards (which are kind of important, especially considering most of my guys are Lv 20 and need to promote, thanks to arena grinding [this game can get pretty hard don’t judge me]), you have to:

Recruit Klain

Make sure all of his units survive

Recruit Thea/Tate

Make sure all of HER units survive

Rescue all of the villages from pillaging

This is a lot more difficult than you would think, as:

Both Klain and Thea’s units will attack you before their leader is recruit and they turn into green units

Once you DO recruit Klain and Thea, their squads decide it’s the perfect time to STORM THE BOSS

This will ALWAYS get them killed, so you have to rescue them before they decide to go on their suicide mission

This leaves your units that can recruit them with lowered stats, giving them a much harder time dispatching enemies. Their speed is essentially halved, so most enemies can double them, and they’ll RARELY get a second attack in

Enemy bandits spawn RIGHT OUTSIDE the Eastern Villages, and can reach them after one turn, so you gotta make sure you have a unit or two near there to take care of them before they reach them

If you don’t kill the boss within 10 turns, enemy reinforcements appear from the Northwestern edge of the map

Killing the boss within 10 turns is much easier said than done, since the map is so large, there are so many enemies to take care of, and in order to complete the other objectives, you essentially have to split your team up into three different groups, one to storm the South and recruit Klain, one to break the wall to the North and take care of the enemies in that region, and one to charge through the middle in order to visit the villages, take care of the enemies, and help in rescuing Klain’s archers

My LORD this level stresses me out. If you don’t care about the post-chapter rewards, it’s not that bad, but my GOD is it gray-hair-inducing if you’re going for them. I feel so bad for the poor Japanese gamers who had to do this all without savestates and arena abuse.

This is honestly such a good ending to this game I love it. <3
