I've been thinking about this a lot tbh.

Mekal in itself is a Clockwork Meka, the first Meka that Niko had succesfully made with Aarush and a Meka that has assisted Niko throughout most of his phantom thief shenanigans as his body double to help in his escapes and is still continuing to assist him even till this day.

Because Mekal is a Clockwork Meka, it does not have a gender nor does it has the concept of "gender" as a whole the same way humans or other creature does, but it does have it's preferred pronouns and it's preferred way of presenting.

That being said, this isn't exactly a "genderbend" of Mekal as it's fruitless to even genderbending someone with no gender at all so the next best thing I could do is to change the way Mekal presented itself.

Mekal in the original is a Meka that has a weird fascination with butler as he was made with the intent of assisting his user as well as others around him. For Female!Niko, Mekal is a Meka that has a weird fascination with maid as she was made with the intent of assisting her user as well as others around her. In a way no matter how you spin it, Mekal is Mekal and only this form of it actually has anything "gendered" applied to it.

I also kinda just wanna play around with its' "hair" (which is just their spider legs in their hat form btw)
