first off, something i mentioned in the fic itself.. this was written for nct’s jung jaehyun! i rewrote some parts to fit a new storyline and tbz’s jaehyun more(?)

They warned you about Lee Hyunjae. Maybe because he was going by an unfamiliar name, you never expected to see your college crush again.

like for example, the name change was a new thing, coincided with hyunjae/jaehyun being referred to interchangeably in real life. the idea of rewriting this for him came to life when i thought of this switch up!

These warnings were not enough to faze you, his indifference hid a distinct type of warmth he rarely shows, and you knew.

Because once, he was Jaehyun sunbae to you.

hyunjae’s warmth is definitely one his most underrated attributes! he is mistaken as a rude person sometimes for being so blunt but i think adding this into a detail in a fic where some parts can be recognized through his irl characteristics would be soo neat — also i squealed writing that ending bit :)

Somebody ought to earn an earful whenever the team’s in a tight schedule and things aren’t working right, but in the end, you can’t help but worry about the fact he’s overworking himself.

i love a good world/plot-building segment of a fic but ngl they are the hardest to come up with. with longer fics i definitely take the time to outline most of these parts before drafting BUT with oneshot fics, i just write them on a whim and what comes out during my sit-down writing session, that’s gonna be it HAHA,,

Jaehyun hums in response, eyebrows furrowed and his eyes never leaving the binder he’s flipping through. how cute

i believe this was written during halloween? or that time he was wearing suits for the whiplash outfits,, anyhow he looked exactly like what i imagined a manager hyunjae would be so that really inspired me to think of how he would be like working an office job!

You quickly make your way out of the room, not even waiting to see how it caught Jaehyun off guard, putting a smile on his face. His gaze stays on the swinging door, a reminder of your hurried exit. how cute

i don’t know if people notice this about my writing but i LOVE LOVE parallels. i find it extremely satisfying when stories come full circle or if the love interests somehow mirror each other, in dialogue or in actions.

He has kept every single one of these notes hidden in his rightmost drawer. When he is feeling extra stressed or down, Jaehyun reaches in that drawer and reads one of your notes.

Working another late night, you put your head down on the desk trying to get a bit of rest. A few moments later, you heard a faint clink and felt a tap on your shoulder. Your nose follows that familiar smell of coffee, noticing the cup in front of you.. and a note?

okay so! idk if i should be saying this in case i actually write it in the future,, but i was thinking of making a prequel out of this or a continuation? so the idea behind this was that hyunjae used to secretly give strength to y/n when they were in college. again, bc he’s a really reserved person, you don’t usually see him openly support people verbally and such. so these messages that y/n is writing brings them back to when hyunjae also gave these notes back in the day <33

yea so uhh that was supposed to be the main idea of that fic but i haven’t been really inspired in continuing that so .. haha

this was purely self-indulgent. DONT MIND ME IM STILL GONG THROUGH IT 😣

“Jae- Sir, I’ll be heading home now,” you mumble your words, shy from receiving his note earlier.

He fails to hide his amusement from hearing that slip-up, smiling at you. His crescent-like eyes greet yours, seriously affecting the rapid beating of your heart.

“Mhm, goodnight y/n. Also when it’s just the two of us, just call me Jaehyun. I like it when you call me by my name.”

okay i think.. the reason why i didn’t follow up on that is because i genuinely cannot think of a reson why he would go by a different name??? i was thinking it was so that the people in the company wouldn’t get confused with multiple jaehyuns but i felt that that was such a weak excuse.. so yea HEHE

but yep mostly just had so much fun writing tsundere hyunjae and im so excited to do it again! hopefully one of these days.. sometime this year, maybe before 2021 ends 😔😔
