The Rosette Nebula is a large spherical H II region that looks like a rose and is located in the constellation of Monoceros with a open cluster NGC 2244 within in that has been formed from the nebula, their intense radiation blasting away the gas surrounding them. It is some 5,000 light years away and is approximately 130 light years across.
