2023 NFL MOCK DRAFT
Thursday, April 27
FIRST ROUND
1. Carolina (FROM CHI) - QB Bryce Young (Alabama)
The rumor is this is a done deal. Bryce Young satisfied any concerns about his lack of ideal size and solidified himself as the safest pick. Heā€™s got a great head for the game, unreal anticipation and field awareness, and he appears to be exactly the sort of person you want representing your team.
2. Houston - DE/OLB Will Anderson (Alabama)
Will Houston pass on a quarterback to take one of the cleanest players in this draft? They just mightā€¦
3. Houston (PROJ. TRADE W/ARZ) - QB C.J. Stroud (Ohio State)
ā€¦until they trade up to take one! The Texans have loads of capital in this draft, and while they have plenty of holes to fill, they want to follow the Jetsā€™ example of moving up to secure the players they want.Ā
4. Indianapolis - QB Will Levis (Kentucky)
This becomes a no-brainer with both Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud off the board. Levis is the last of the quarterbacks who can step in the play as a rookie. Levis worked out of a pro-style offense at Kentucky, and heā€™s got all the unearned confidence he needs to convince coaches heā€™s capable of starting. Heā€™ll flop.Ā
5. Seattle (THRU DEN) - DT/DE Jalen Carter (Georgia) !
Seattle lucks into perhaps the most talented player coming out this year. Carterā€™s legal troubles so far donā€™t seem to be serious enough to bounce him out of the top 5 given his abilities on the field.Ā
6. Detroit (THRU LAR) - CB Devon Witherspoon (Illinois)
Jared Goffā€™s job is safe for now. The Lions traded away Jeff Okudah for a 5th round pick and a pack of bubble gum.Ā  They brought in Cam Sutton to start on one side, but Witherspoon will be an instant starter across from him.
7. Las Vegas - DE Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech)
Teaming Wilson with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones is almost unfair. Jones might have one year left with the team, so Wilson has greater future value than immediate value.Ā
8. NY Jets (PROJ. TRADE W/ATL) Ā - OT Paris Johnson, Jr. (Ohio State)
The Jets arenā€™t convinced that Mekhi Becton is their left tackle of the future. His conditioning just isnā€™t at a pro level. Atlanta needs to move down and collect more picks. The Jets (with the expected acquisition of Aaron Rodgers) are in win-now mode, so theyā€™ll spend now and figure out how to pay for it later.
9. Chicago (THRU CAR) - RB Bijan Robinson (Texas)
The Bears let David Montgomery walk in free agency, but they find a huge upgrade in the draft. Sure, they still need big help along the offensive line, but Chicago figures the talent on Day 2 isnā€™t remarkably different than the top talent this year. A guy like Bijan is in a class of his own.
10. Philadelphia (THRU CLE) - CB Christian Gonzalez (Oregon)
You donā€™t often see a Super Bowl team drafting in the top-10, so this is a pure luxury pick. The Eagles feel Gonzalez just has too much upside to pass up here - even though CB isnā€™t an immediate need.
11. Tennessee - OT Broderick Jones (Georgia) The Titans stick with their plan to groom Malik Willis for two years before they decide what theyā€™ve got, so they pass on this yearā€™s QBs. Tennessee released LT Taylor Lewan and brought in Andre Dillard, a wasted first-round pick of Phillyā€™s a few years ago. There are plenty of potentially-great tackles available this year, but theyā€™re starting to come off the board quickly. The Titans considered trading up but didnā€™t have the ammo, so they stay put and are relieved to find Broderick Jones still hanging around.
12. Arizona (PROJ. TRADE W/HOU THRU CLE) - CB Joey Porter, Jr. (Penn State)Ā
The Cardinals need help at corner pretty badly. They were hoping that either Witherspoon or Gonzalez would fall to them after trading down, but that didnā€™t work out. Joey Porter is the next best option.Ā
13. Green Bay - OT/G Peter Skoronski (Northwestern)
If the Packers will have any chance of winning in 2023, they need to bolster the O-line in front of Jordan Love. Skoronski will be a welcome sight for Love as he embarks on his first starting campaign. Heā€™s likely a guard this year - with the potential to kick out to tackle in the future.
14. Washington (PROJ. TRADE W/NE) - QB Anthony Richardson (Florida)
The Commanders get ahead of Atlanta to take the boom-or-bust QB prospect out of Florida. Richardson shouldnā€™t be allowed to play at all as a rookie (outside of a few Taysom Hill-esque gadget plays), but his future potential is too good to pass up here.
15. Atlanta (PROJ. TRADE W/NYJ VIA GB) - DE Lukas Van Ness (Iowa)
Atlanta needs defensive line help in the worst way, so they take a risk on the green Van Ness. He may need a few years to develop, but heā€™s got Trey Hendrickson potential. They pick up one of the Jetsā€™ many, many 2nd rounders in the move down and well as 2024 compensation.Ā
16. New England (PROJ. TRADE W/WAS) - WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) +
The Pats have a terrible record of drafting wide receivers, but they try again. Smith-Njigba is likely only a slot receiver, but he could be an elite one.
17. Pittsburgh - OT Darnell Wright (Tennessee)
The Steelers need to focus on that woeful offensive line this year. Kenny Pickett never really had much of a chance as a rookie, but he still showed promise. Time to give him some blockers.
18. Detroit - TE Michael Mayer (Notre Dame)
The Lions are so close to being a great team; theyā€™re likely eyeballing the 1-2 positions of greatest need to get them over the hump. Tight end is a glaring hole on their roster. Michael Mayer is the safest pick among this yearā€™s TEs. Pro Bowl-level hands, strong blocking ability, not much YAC to his game, but heā€™ll move the chains as well as anybody. Day 1 starter and huge improvement.Ā
19. Tampa Bay - G Oā€™Cyrus Torrence (Florida)
The Bucs are in desperate need of offensive line help. Torrence is the best pure guard coming out this year, but this is still a bit high for him.
20. Seattle - QB Hendon Hooker (Tennessee)Ā
Hooker has been getting a lot of looks from teams at the bottom of the first round. Seems like someone is bound to take a risk on him on the first day, maybe higher than people expect. The Seahawks love Geno Smith, but Hooker will be the starter 2 years from now. If Hooker hadnā€™t gotten injured, weā€™d be talking about him as a top-10 talent with his accuracy and decision-making.
Miami - FORFEITED
21. LA Chargers - WR Zay Flowers (Boston College)Ā
The Chargers prepare for the eventual end of Keenan Allenā€™s stellar career by bringing in someone with some of Allenā€™s qualities. Zay Flowers can be brought along slowly as a rookie, but heā€™s a potential #1 target for Justin Herbert for years to come.
22. Baltimore - CB Deonte Banks (Maryland)Ā
The Ravens keep Deonte Banks near home. They have an aging defensive backfield badly in need of quality youth. Banks showed amazing athleticism at the Combine.
23. Minnesota - DE Myles Murphy (Clemson)
The Vikings once boasted greatness along their defensive line, but that talent has waned in recent years. Theyā€™ll need to replenish, and it starts with Murphy.
24. Jacksonville - DT/DE Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh)
The Jags have a habit of taking D-linemen in this round - not always with great luck. Kancey is a bit of a steal here, if not a huge immediate need for Jacksonville.Ā
25. NY Giants - TE Dalton Kincaid (Utah)
The Giants somehow eked out a playoff appearance despite having the most woeful set of starting receivers in the league. They got by with a rookie at tight end last year, but they badly need to upgrade there.Ā
26. Dallas - TE Darnell Washington (Georgia)
Once the Cowboys let Dalton Schultz walk in free agency, it opened up a huge hole at tight end. Darnell Washington is a combination of size and athleticism that doesnā€™t come along very often. Dallas fans should be doing backflips over this one.Ā
27. Buffalo - DE/OLB Nolan Smith (Georgia) +
The undersized and oft-injured Nolan Smith falls down the board a bit farther than some draftniks thought, but the Bills take a chance on his freakish athleticism. He may need to convert to linebacker in this scheme, but heā€™s got time to develop.
28. Cincinnati - CB/S Brian Branch (Alabama)
The Bengalsā€™ safety position got raided in free agency, so they bring in some fresh legs. Branch will be an all-purpose defensive back initially but his future is at free safety.
29. New Orleans (THRU SF, MIA, DEN) - DT Bryan Bresee (Clemson) +
The Saints might be the beneficiaries of a surprising fall here. Bresee is a run-stopping expert with a little pass-rushing ability to go along with it.Ā
30. Philadelphia - DE Keion White (Georgia Tech)
The Eagles love their defensive line rotation, and they need bodies to keep those players fresh. Keion White has enjoyed a rapid rise up the draft boards, and the fact that he was one of the players invited to attend Day One of the draft speaks to how valued he is by GMā€™s.Ā
31. Kansas City - OT Anton Harrison (Oklahoma)
Jawaan Taylor was brought in to play left tackle (after spending his entire pro career on the right side), so Harrison is headed to the other side of the line.Ā
SECOND ROUND
32. Pittsburgh (FROM CHI) - CB Kelee Ringo (Georgia)
33. Arizona (PROJ. TRADE W/HOU) - WR Quentin Johnston (TCU)Ā
34. Arizona - OLB Drew Sanders (Arkansas)

Breaking down the 2020 NFL Draft prospects (Offense skill positions)
By: Tad Dieckhoff
My Top 2 players at each position
QB:
Joe Burrow LSU: The Heisman trophy winner was downright absurd in 2019-20. He put up numbers in real life that most canā€™t achieve on Madden. He absolutely easily set the passing touchdowns in a season record that has stood since 2006 tossing SIXTY touchdowns.Ā
ā€œI donā€™t how many touchdowns iā€™ve scored..ehhh I think about 60ā€ -Bug Wendall(Gridiron Gang 2006)
We could talk all day about Burrows ridiculous season but how will this translate to the next level? I donā€™t see the concern some others have addressed with Burrows attitude, he wants to win football games, thats the bottom line. He has the arm talent, athleticism, and work ethic to be a great NFL QB. But what makes him special in my eyes is his ability to improvise when the pocket breaks down, he never panics, hes calm and collected and usually turns nothing into something(a bomb of a touchdown) I donā€™t see any scenario where he isnt the first overall pick.
Tua Tugovailoa Alabama:
Tua is one of the most efficient college QBs ee have ever seen, simply put when heā€™s on the field he produces at a high level and can make all of the throws you need at the next level. But the key words there were when heā€™s on the field. We have honestly only seen a small sample size of Tua, as a freshman he won a national title..but, he only played a half of football the entire season, it just happened to be the second half of the national title game vs Georgia. Last season it looked like he would run away with the Heisman until ankle injuries plagued him down the stretch in the SEC championship game specifically. Same story this season as he was having another great year before getting injured, a MUCH more serious injury this time however. He dislocated his hip, and injury we have seen very few football players overcome..most notably Bo Jackson. Bo however needed to get back to being a freak of nature runningback, while Tua is really just a pocket passer. We havenā€™t seen a quarterback suffer this serious injury before so there isnt much to base it on. If he can fully recover heā€™ll be a franchise QB, if he canā€™t. Youā€™re wasting a first round pick. High risk, high reward situation here. I believe Tua will go in the top 10.
Runningback-Ā
Deandre Swift Georgia
Swift can do it all, hes elusive, he runs between the tackles, he has great hands and awareness catching out of the backfield, and he is well versed in the spread running shemes so many NFL coaches are now running(ie: Kyle Shannahan) When you consider the success Georgia runningbacks have had at the next level(Todd Gurley, Sony Michel, and Nick Chubb were all on the same team at one point) I believe Swift is a sure fire pick if youā€™re in need of a runningback. I believe heā€™ll be the first RB off the board.Ā
Najee Harris, Alabama- Harris is next up in a line of all world runningbacks from Nick Sabanā€™s Crimson Tide. We have seen Alabama runningbacks plastered all over the NFL for what feels like a decade now. The lowest drafted Bama RB in many years was ...Derrick Henry..enough said. You pass on an Alabama runningback when youā€™re in need at that position, youā€™re likley to regret it for years to come. I believe Najee with be an exceptional player at the next level and I see him as a late first rounder.
Wide Reciever:
Jerry Jeudy, Alabama AND CeeDee Lamb, OklahomaĀ
I decided to group these two together because they are far and away the two best recievers in this draft and in my opinion CANā€™T MISS prospects. This is not a weak reciever class like many pegged last years draft class, it is DEEP and loaded with studs yet these 2 have still separated themselves. Iā€™d be shocked if they both donā€™t go top 10 I just have no idea who I would pick first. We havenā€™t seen two wideouts this talented in the same draft class since the 2011 draft where AJ Green and Julio Jones went 4th and 6th overall respectively (Iā€™d say that worked out well) If i was forced to choose I would take Jeudy first just because he is just on a different level then everyone else athletically, the speed, the cutting, the stop/start ability, he will be an incredible NFL receiver for years to come.Ā
BONUS: Sleeper WR Antonio Gandy-Golden, Liberty
AGG flat out dominated this season at 6ā€™4ā€ 220 pounds literally nobody in the ā€œbig southā€ conference could cover this guy. The only question is can he do it in the NFL or was he just dominating very weak competition. He has improved stock significantly at the January senior bowl in Mobile Alabama where many NFL scouts were impressed with how he performed all week. I would definitely take a chance on this guy in the bottom half of the draft if I needed a WR.

2019 NFL Mock Draft Par 3
Here is the final part of my 2019 mock draft
21.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Seattle Seahawks: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa: The Seahawks could go several directions here with needs in the defensive backfield but given how much they spent to sign Russell Wilson, they might want to keep him happy and a top notch receiving threat like Fant makes a lot of sense. Fant is more of a big receiver and has shown tremendous speed and explosion to create separation against linebackers and the strength to dominate smaller defensive backs. Fant should step in immediately and become an effective receiver on the inside.
22.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Baltimore Ravens: Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma: The Ravens have said that a major part of their offseason will be giving Lamar Jackson the weapons that he needs to succeed and that starts by giving him an athletic downfield threat to take the top off of a defense and create separation. Brown is blessed with top notch speed and explosion to create separation against any pro defensive back and will make the big play when needed. However he lacks great size and strength and could be an injury risk at the next level.
23.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Houston Texans: Cody Ford, OL, Oklahoma: Ford is the best offensive lineman available at this point in the draft and the Texans desperately need to add talent along the offensive front. Ford is a powerful run blocker with enough length and strength to be effective as a pass blocker. Ford is overweight and will likely need to move inside at the next level, though he could work as a right tackle in a pinch. They need to protect Deshaun Watson and Ford could give him that extra half second to find the receiver downfield.
24.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Oakland Raiders: Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama: The Raiders luck out and give John Gruden a powerful inside runner to take the pressure off of Derek Carr. Jacobs is a stout and powerful inside rusher with a low center of gravity and driving legs that can consistently get those tough 3-4 yards between the tackles, though he lacks elite speed and explosion and likely will never be able to create massive plays in the air.
25.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Philadelphia Eagles: Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State: I fully believe that the Eagles will take the best player available, though they could move up to get Josh Jacobs. However in this mock they take Jeffery Simmons, a player that has top 10 talent and likely would be the best defensive tackle prospect in most other drafts. Simmons has some off the field issues and has dealt with injuries but he possesses a tremendous mix of strength and athleticism that allows him to play all over the defensive line and could be a top notch player once he gets back from injury.
26.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Indianapolis Colts: Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Temple: The Colts would have loved Simmons here but this allows them to address their defensive backfield that has had issues defending the pass all year. Ya-Sin is an athletic corner prospect that could play inside or outside and shows tremendous ability as a man coverage corner that easily tracks the ball downfield. Ya-Sin could evolve into a lock down corner but will need to clean up his footwork to consistently lock receivers down.
27.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Oakland Raiders: Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson: The Raiders could go QB here but I believe that they need to spend one of their 1st round picks on an outside pass rusher and Ferrell happens to be the best player left on the board. Ferrell has all the attributes you could want from and athletic edge rusher with a top notch get off, a array of pass rushing moves and the raw speed to chase down ball carriers when he wants to. However getting him to show consistent effort is an issue and he has issues rushing the passer when he doesnā€™t have his hand in the ground.
28.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Los Angeles Chargers: Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss: This is a bit of a surprise pick but adding offensive line help to protect Phillip Rivers during the final part of his career should be a major need and Little is quietly one of the best pass blockers and athletes along the offensive line. Little has consistently performed since coming out of high school and though he doesnā€™t have elite strength to anchor he has the quickness and technique to keep between the pass rusher and the QB.
29.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Seattle Seahawks (from KC Chiefs): Greedy Williams, CB, LSU: The Seahawks have a lot of needs, especially since they traded away their best pass rusher for this pick and they could very easily select Brian Burns here. However I fully believe that they will go defensive back here and Williams has the look of a prototypical Seattle cornerback with impressive length, great athleticism and ball skills to knock passes down at a very high rate. Williams had a decrease in production from his freshman to his sophomore year but he would make a lot of sense here.
30.Ā Ā  Green Bay Packers: Irv Smith Jr., TE, Alabama: The Packers could use another receiving threat for Aaron Rodgers and, despite the new coaching staff, I canā€™t imagine that the new coaches picking a QB at this point in the draft. Smith is a complete tight end, though he is a top notch receiver in an H-back mold. He shows the speed to consistently create separation on safeties and linebackers and is very physical at the point of attack. Smith will likely need to add some weight to be used as an inline tight end but his receiving talent should guarantee that he stays on the field.
31.Ā Ā  Los Angeles Rams: Erik McCoy, C, Texas A&M: The Rams need to add more talent along the offensive line, and with most of the 1st round tackles off the board they go with the best remaining center. McCoy is very athletic with top notch technique and control and despite not being massive he is able to stonewall larger defenders with leverage and technique. He needs to add more strength at the pro level and needs to show better lower body strength consistently but he should be a day 1 starter and could reach the Pro Bowl.
32.Ā Ā  New England Patriots: Nā€™Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State: The Patriots are always a wild card and they could go several different directions with this pick, including trading down, but with the loss of Gronkowski they will need a powerful downfield threat that can go up and get the ball and Harry fits that role perfectly. Harry brings huge size and power to the receiver position and shows tremendous tracking ability downfield along with being arguably the best blocking receiver in the draft. Harry creates the same matchup issue for defenses and could be played all over the field as a rookie.

Pre-Draft NFL 2019-2020 Mock Season
Regular Season
32. Arizona Cardinals Ā  3-13
The Cardinals finished last season at 3-13 as well, and to be honest, I don't see it getting much better quite yet. I do believe the team will draft Kyler Murray at #1 overall, and I also believe that they should. While I think it is the right decision, that doesn't mean I see it translating to more wins. No matter how good Kyler is, or even if Josh Rosen gets another chance this year, there is still just about the same amount of talent as last year and a new coach once again. As a fan of the Cardinals I hope this isn't the case, but this is what seems right to me.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ā  4-12
ā€‹Tampa Bay was not good last year aside from the few Fitzmagic games that had the whole NFL world in awe. Their run game is awful, and their best asset was their pass catchers who they lost a couple of this offseason. Jameis Winston hasn't proven to anyone yet that he can be a winning QB, and without a run game, a shaky defense and o-line, and with fewer receivers than last year, I don't see a very promising year unless Bruce Arians has some magic for the city of Tampa Bay. ā€‹
30. Ā New York Giants Ā  Ā 4-12
Odell is gone. Olivier Vernon is gone. Landon Collins is gone. But they still have Eli! Don't get me wrong, Saquon is one of the best players in the entire league, and I love Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate, but on paper the team got worse than it was last year, and last year was already pretty bad. Maybe getting rid of these players will prove to be addition by subtraction, but until they prove that to me and the rest of the world, I don't see much out of the Giants this season.
29. Washington Redskins Ā  Ā 4-12
I think most football fans like Case Keenum, but we also know that there usually isn't much success that follows him wherever he goes. He had one great year on a great Minnesota team, but we all saw what he does on an average team, or even a bad team. There just aren't many names that stick out to you on this Redskins team as difference makers or game changers, and Adrian Peterson can't keep up the pace... can he? Whether Case is leading the charge, or a rookie from the draft, the defense doesn't look dominate enough to win games alone, and the team just doesn't have enough offensive weapons to put up points. Disapointing season for the skins, but brighter days could be ahead.
28. Miami Dolphins Ā  Ā  5-11
The Dolphins seem to just keep letting their fans down. Year after year they do less than everyone is expecting. Ryan Tannehill was supposed to turn that all around, but we all see how that worked out. But hey, they have some Fitzmagic now! That's gonna be clutch for the first 3 weeks of the season, and for a crazy win against the New England Patriots as usual. They just always seem to do worse than you'd think, and they didn't really get any better, so since many people would expect them to maybe be a .500 team, I'm guessing they'll end up a few games under.
27. Detroit Lions Ā  Ā  5-11
ā€‹Detroit really needs to consider a makeover. There have been a few good years with Matthew Stafford, but those are in the past, and they honestly weren't even that great once it got past the regular season any other year. They need to accept that where they are now isn't going to get them anywhere. Kerryon Johnson was a pleasant surprise last year, but that didn't translate much to the wins column, and Stafford doesn't have as many weapons as he needs to be successful. Seems to me like another down year for the team down in Detroit.
26. Carolina Panthers Ā  Ā 5-11
Cam is scaring me. With Newton healthy, you can scratch that 5-11 off and put a 10-6, but without him healthy, a 5-11 might be really generous. Christian McCaffrey really impressed a lot of people last year, and there was a few flashes from young receivers, but other than that, there wasn't much there to make me think that they can function without their superstar QB. They need Cam, plain and simple.
25. Cincinnati Bengals Ā  Ā 6-10
There's some great talent on this team, but there is one common issue every year. AJ Green is a great receiver, arguably one of the best in the entire NFL, but he cannot stay healthy. His running mate Tyler Boyd proved he can be one of the best number 2 WRs in the league, and a breakout year from Joe Mixon solidified him as one of the AFCs top backs. All of this, but the man behind center always seems to choke. Sorry Bengals fans, but Andy Dalton is not a franchise QB. I don't care about any statistics about the team with and without him or anything like that, he just doesn't win games and I have no reason to believe that this will end in 2019-2020.
24. Denver Broncos Ā  Ā  Ā 6-10
The biggest weakness for the Denver Broncos is that they are in a great division. The Chargers and Chiefs are two 12-4 teams from last year, and the Raiders went balls to the wall on offseason moves. I'm afraid Joe Flacco won't be much better than Case Keenum, and with no other notable changes, it's safe to assume they will be right about where they were last year at 6-10.
23. Jacksonville Jaguars Ā  Ā 6-10
Aside from late season and post-season heroics on a great team, Nick Foles hasn't proved to be a very good QB in the league in any other situation when he was away from the Eagles. Leonard Founette proved to many that he isn't capable of staying on the field, and the Jags are yet to improve their below average receiving core. Their defense is still great like it was just a couple of years ago, but with their offense forcing them on to the field 2 times as often, they're bound to struggle.
22. Oakland Raiders Ā  Ā 6-10
The Raiders have went ALL IN this offseason. Move after move after move and they do look a lot better. Unfortunately for them they are in arguably the best division in football and this is going to thrown away a lot of wins from their record. This is one team that could completely prove my predictions wrong, but a lot of big names going to one team does not always mean great success right away. Also depending on the draft, this could either be very underwhelming or a great success.
21. San Fransisco 49ers Ā  Ā 6-10
San Fransisco had it rough last year. They looked like they could be the team to surprise everyone with Jimmy G and Jerrick McKinnon coming into town, but two early injuries took both of them out for the season. Finishing second to last this past season was a disappointment, but there were some positive takeaways. The run game stayed solid with backups in the game, and TE George Kittle had one of the greatest seasons of all time at his position. They picked up Tevin Coleman and he will be paired with McKinnon for a dynamic backfield behind Jimmy Garappolo. This is another team that could blow past my prediction, but having the Rams and Seahawks to compete with will make it tough to have a great comeback season.
20. Ā Buffalo Bills Ā  Ā  Ā 7-9
Josh Allen honestly had a surprising rookie year. Looking at the stats, nothing stands out that much, but he was on one of the worst teams in the league and was viewed as a raw prospect who would take a few years. Being forced to start early on he led his team to a 6-10 finish, 5 of those wins coming in games he played. His ability running the ball was very surprising, and rookie WR Robert Foster showed flashes of playmaking ability. Now they brought in veteran receivers Cole Beasley and John Brown to help out even more, as well as indestructible RB Frank Gore. All of these pieces surrounding Josh Allen to go with a defense that could be in the top half of the league, this could be another step for the Bills to climb their way to the top of the league in the future.Ā

Eagles 2019 Mock Draft
Now that we are past the first wave of free agency, I think itā€™s a good time to start concentrating on the draft. The Eagles have some holes to fill while also being in a good position to compete for a championship this upcoming season.
Until they sign a running back, picking a player like Josh Jacobs in Round 1 is going to be a popularā€¦and tantalizingā€¦thought. However, regardless of whether or not the Eagles add a RB before the draft, it is highly unlikely that they will take one in Round 1.
It feels like beating a dead horse to say this, but, you should know by now where the Eaglesā€™ priorities lieā€¦LINEMEN.
Their other high level priorities are QB and CBā€¦and both of those are set as far as considering a position for the Eagles to target in Round 1 of this draft.
There is about a 99% chance that the Eaglesā€™ first pick in this draft will be a lineman. The only thing we donā€™t know is whether itā€™ll be on the offensive or defensive side.
Howie Roseman called this draft ā€œhistoricā€ when talking about defensive linemanā€¦soā€¦Iā€™d tend to lean to that side of the ball when it comes to predicting who will be the apple of the Eaglesā€™ eye come draft day.
The question is, who? And, will it be DE or DT?
The other question is whether the Eagles will just sit at pick 25 and see who falls to them or will they be aggressive and move up to get ā€œtheir guy.ā€
My bet is they will trade up and burn one of their two 2nd round picks in the process (probably to much chagrin from Eagles fans). But, that is how Roseman and the Eagles operate.
Theyā€™re aggressive and are willing to roll the dice when they feel like they are getting an impact player. Here is a quote from Roseman before the 2017 draftā€¦
ā€œWhen we look back and look at our drafts, specifically looking at where we were in the 20ā€™s, weā€™ve had some good success 20 and higher. I think there is a line where you donā€™t get a difference-maker. This is your opportunity, in the first round of the draft, to find a difference-making player,ā€ Roseman said. ā€œThatā€™s our first priority, is bringing a difference-maker to the Philadelphia Eagles. By trading back and getting extra picks, but not having someone who can affect the game, youā€™re watching these (conference) championship games and there are difference-makers making big plays. Weā€™ve got to make sure that we come out of that, if there is an opportunity to get that, and get an extra pick, that would be great.ā€
So, good success at pick 20 and higherā€¦bringing in a ā€œdifference-makerā€ā€¦the ghost of Marcus Smith being their last draft pick past pick 20 in Round 1ā€¦a historic draft for the DLā€¦Hmmā€¦yeah, the Eagles are trading up!
With all that said, letā€™s get to the mock..
Round 1: DT Ed Oliver, Houston, 6ā€² 2ā€³, 290 lbs
The trade: Pick #25 plus one of their second rounders to Miami for pick #13.
This could very, very easily be for a DE instead if their coveted player is there. Given the current state of the DL, there isnā€™t much behind the top 2 starters at DE and DT.
Adding Oliver to form an interior trio rotation of he, Cox and Jackson would be formidable. Pressure from the middle is devastating for opposing offenses.
Some believe that Oliverā€™s draft stock is ā€œfallingā€ due to his size but Iā€™m not buying it. He has the potential to be a stud in the NFL. Check out this scouting report, itā€™s a great breakdown on Oliver and should leave you ready to sell out to get him on draft day.
Round 2: RB Miles Sanders, 5ā€² 10ā€³ 211 lbs, Penn State
The Eagles finally address the RB position! Now, they will almost certainly add a veteran in free agency or a via a tradeā€¦and this pick will hinge on exactly what player that is.
However, barring some unexpected trade for a top-flight RB, the Eagles could still very well go RB at this spot.
Sanders burst onto the draft scene after a stellar combine performance where he was well above the average in 40 time (4.49), 3-cone drill (6.89), broad jump (10ā€² 4ā€³) and vertical jump (36ā€³). Check out his spider chart via mockdraftable.
In 2018, Sanders stepped out of Saquon Barkleyā€™s shadow to rush the ball 220 times for 1,274 yards and 9 TDs. He also added another 24 receptions for 139 yards.
He could be the homerun hitter weā€™ve lacked at the RB position since the LeSean McCoy days. If Roseman wants ā€œdifference-makersā€, he gets two in the first two rounds.
If this pick isnā€™t Sanders, I feel pretty confident it will be for a running back.
Round 4: OG/C Ross Pierschbacher, 6ā€™ 4ā€ 307 lbs, Alabama
With Stefen Wisniewski moving on in free agency, Matt Pryor an unknown, Brandon Brooksā€™ Achilles injury and Jason Kelce getting older, it seems like addressing the interior offensive line is somewhat of a ā€œmust.ā€Ā  I donā€™t think itā€™s as big of a must to address it with one of their first two picks, but they do here by selecting the versatile Pierschbacher.
He has started his entire college career and played multiple games at each of the three interior positions. The Eagles place a very high value on versatility like that.
Here is a quick scouting report on him from NFL.com.
Iā€™m sure the Eagles can get the inside scoop on Pierschbacher via the Jeff Stoutland/Alabama connection as well.Ā
Round 4: DE/EDGE Porter Gustin, 6ā€™ 4ā€ 255 lbs, USC
Gustin could end up being a mid-round steal.Ā  He is considered a ā€œworkout warriorā€, but not in the Mike Mamula sense.Ā  He simply just loves to workout and made Sports Illustratedā€™s Top 10 ā€œFreakā€ list in 2017. h
His workout ethic has translated to the field, though.Ā  He was considered an up-and-comer and potentially dominant player before injuries derailed his past two seasons.Ā  It is those injuries as to why he will likely be available on Day 3 of the draft.
A broken ankle ended Gustinā€™s season in Week 6 last year but up until that point he had already registered 7 sacks and 10 tackles for a loss.Ā  The year before, his season ended in Week 3 and he had already had 3 sacks.Ā  So, in essence, in his last 9 games played, he has 10 sacks.Ā  Pretty impressive.
He also lit up the combine with a pretty impressive performanceā€¦as one would imagine for a workout warriorā€¦
However, he has the production to go with it.Ā  If he can just stay healthy, he could be a Clay Matthews-esque kind of player.
Round 5: QB Jordan Taā€™amu, 6ā€™ 3ā€ 221 lbs, Ole Miss
The Eagles have yet to sign a veteran QB like many folks expect them to and if they do, that will likely mean this pick never happens.Ā  For now, though, only Nate Sudfeld is on the roster and its been a while since the Eagles have drafted a developmental QB.
Taā€™amu (pronounced tah-ah-moo) fits the bill here.Ā  He is said to have good accuracy, athleticism, toughness and character.Ā  The main knocks on him are mental processing and lack of starting experience (only 16 college starts).Ā  For a good read, check out this draft profile by Jon Ledyard over at thedraftnetwork.com. h
Round 6: LB Gary Johnson, 6ā€™ 226 lbs, Texas
Staying true to their organizational philosophy regarding Linebackers, the Eagles wait until round 6 to add another guy to the group of guys they already have.Ā  In this regard Johnson should be right up their alley.Ā
Johnson has excellent straight-line speed as he was in the 97th percentile for linebackers at the Combine where he posted a 40 time of 4.43.Ā  However, his athleticism is limited.Ā  His struggles in space are why he is still available at this point in the draft.
Johnson is said to have great intangibles, plays with aggression and is best suited as a gap-plugger.Ā  He is also a good special teams player so the Eagles will value that as well. Here is a scouting report from NFL.com.
