This Is Why I Haven’t Been Posting
So this is what’s had me distracted lately.
Outside of coaching kid’s soccer, I finesse some of these smaller teams, clubs, academies and semi-pro developmental clubs that need stuff photographed and captured on video.
I shoot everything from kid’s games, high school games, semi-pro guys, 11-a-side and 5-a-side games, and I’ve already been able to get around some Premiere Division teams and coaches, more on that later down the road though.
Where as I used to have my mornings to myself, because I don’t start academy kids soccer until afternoon, I now mostly go out on calls when client’s have games and need photos, and that will mostly be in the mornings.
The trickier part though, has been trying to leverage this sports media thing into something more lucrative. I’ve considered building a bigger team and charging clients more, but even that doesn’t give me maximum return on investment, you know what I mean?
Consider this, I’m turning on Youtube everyday, and I’m constantly seeing ads and other types of sports related media being used to sell stuff. There’s way more money out here than what a semi-pro team can pay me.
In the mean time, I’ll work these clients one-by-one, while building up to something that can get me in the door with a sponsor or a bigger brand, or even some agency work or something in that line. Tired of being on the block, bro.
On the other end, I got my homeboy that manages an indoor football venue and that’s been steady clientele too, but still, I need more.
My other homie, he’s the one I’m working with on coaching kid’s soccer, that’s patterned down and really we need to talk about expanding it, getting better training facilities and even having a home ground with stadium lights, so we can play games on some Friday Night Lights shit.
My client, the guy that runs Free Agents FC, he’s a top guy, he’s the one that knows all these teams and coaches in the semi-pro ranks. Within 1 month of working for this dude, I’ve already been in places to photograph 2 of the biggest club teams in my city, Sundowns FC and Supersports United. Bro is big time.
On the other end, fam, I got a shit load of semi professional players on my contacts list, some are guys that were coached by dudes I went to school with, others are in the semi-pro circuit, others play indoor football competetively, and they the ones that let me know which teams are actually worth approaching with photography sevices, and that’s how I found Free Agents.
All that’s good, and it sounds clever, but there’s more out here bro. Way more. Way, way more, n###a.
But let me lamp, contemplate this money bro.
You can enjoy some of my photographs down below. I can garuantee the people photographed here did not recieve their photographs, unless they paid for them.
One.
There’s no telling what’s going to happen when you photograph these games, South African football is stupid comptetetive, sometime guys play tournaments for prize money ranging from 10 grand and upwards, and games can eaily end up like the one in the photograph below.
It can get thick bro.

SAFA boss Danny Jordaan admits doubts over Afcon 2021 finals
Danny Jordaan has admitted the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals, scheduled for January next year in Cameroon, have to be in serious doubt with the current uncertainty over when football will be able to resume because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Confederation of African Football (Caf) have already indefinitely postponed the 2021 Afcon qualifiers, while the African Nations Championship (CHAN), which was supposed to be test event for Cameroon and was scheduled to start of April 4, has also been called off.
The 2021 Afcon finals are scheduled to take place between January 9 and February 6, but it is hard to see, in the current climate, how this is possible.
“The big uncertainty is when will we return to normal?” Jordaan, South African Football Association president and Caf vice-president told Phakaaathi from his home in Port Elizabeth.
“Our players are at home, they are not training, we don’t know their levels of fitness. We are now in April, so I don’t know (whether the 2021 Afcon finals can happen) Cameroon must still host the CHAN tournament, they have had to move that back, you must play qualification for the Afcon … nothing can be done until we know when the end of this virus is.”
With South African currently in a 21-day lockdown, Jordaan said he had spoken to the chairman of the Premier Soccer League Irvin Khoza about having a meeting between Safa and the PSL to map the way forward once the lockdown ends.
At the moment, the PSL season has been postponed indefinitely, and it is unclear whether it will be able to finish. And even if the PSL do decide to finish the 2019/20 campaign, that is likely to play havoc with next season’s calendar.
“I had a conversation with the chairman of the league and said we have to come together,” added Jordaan.
“The South African league has aligned with Europe because when we then have national team games, all of our players are match-fit. There is also the question of promotion and relegation, from the NFD to the ABC Motsepe League and the PSL to the NFD, that has to be coordinated.”
“From a Safa perspective, we have to look at the impact on the international calendar and wait for the dates of the Afcon qualifiers and the Fifa World Cup qualifiers. If the (domestic) league gets pushed it will have an impact on the start of the new season. Broadcast issues also have to be looked at. I have agreed with the chairman of the league (Khoza) that as soon as the lockdown ends we have to come together and discuss all these issues.”

'Royal Bafokeng needs a PSL club'
Premier Soccer League official Ronnie Schloss says it will take the North West to have another team in the top tiers for the province to host football matches once more.
Premier Soccer League official Ronnie Schloss says it will take the North West to have another team in the top tiers for the province to host football matches once more.
The 2010 World Cup Stadium is based in Phokeng near Rustenberg and was until last season used by Platinum Stars, who were sold to a Cape Town-based consortium after being relegated.
With no professional football club in both the National First Division and in the Absa Premiership, it remains to be seen when the football drought in that part of the country will come to an end.
“It’s not being used, there’s no team that plays there so there’s nothing much we can do, because there’s only so many PSL teams,” Schloss told KickOff.com.
“It’s up to whoever gets promoted, if there’s a team from that area and that team gets promoted, I presume they will play there but we can’t force teams to play anywhere. They choose where they want to play.
“So there’s nothing we can do. We need a local team so that the community can support it. At this stage there’s no team in the NFD. That stadium was built a long time before the World Cup.”
Schloss says there is little chance of the venue becoming a ‘white elephant’ as it’s a multi – purpose centre.

“The stadium is used a lot by the community, it’s got athletics tracks there and also the other events are held there, it is used very much,” he added.
