Hee haa angsty headcanon go brr

Newton Pud was mostly raised by his mother. Not because his dad's negligent mind you. It's simply because Captain, as the name implies, is Captain of the Bunkum Interdimensional Exploration Team (BIET). And due to the murderous nature the Queen has to any nay-sayers, the Captain was drafted.

[6:14 PM]So years went by with little Newton being raised by a mother who, while good intentioned, tended to put her cats a tad bit first. She still cared for him, in fact, she wanted him to strive to live up to the Pud name!

[6:16 PM]And that meant rigourous learning through Popit Academy! The prestigious school for budding creators. As a child, he was rather gifted for the book smarts, but lacked the ability to keep most of his inventions from exploding. And that's why he wasn't exactly cut out for Popit Academy.

[6:18 PM]As he grew older, Newton had more trouble with inventions. Constantly having to consider multiple outcomes from whether he used springs or sprungs, how tightly the screw where. Not to mention some of the terms were hard to remember and keep track off.

[6:19 PM]His grades faltered, causing Nana to become stricter with studying. Mainly because she believed it to be laziness rather than him genuinely needing help understanding. Because she "saw what he's capable of so this should be easy".

[6:20 PM]So, Newton was pretty much studying whenever he wasn't doing chores or helping out.(edited)

[6:21 PM]Now, this didn't mean he couldn't make friends! It was just that not many people were interested in having him as a long time friend. Either they used his knowledge for cheating(which got him suspended once or twice because the damned pricks framed him as a cheater) or just simply ignored him.

[6:22 PM]So, yeah. Months and months of grueling studying and the Semester Test arrives. Now, you know how tests are in Popit Academy(in the game)? Having to use your knowledge to get through an obstacle course before a timer goes out?

[6:23 PM]That's what it was. And no amount of Book smarts prepared Newton to multitask remembering everything he learned, utilizing them as quickly but effeciently as possible, and doing it all in 3 minutes.

[6:23 PM]So, he flunked. Hard.

[6:24 PM]A big F Minus. While his teacher wanted to give a D for effort, the school board refused.

[6:26 PM]So, in that moment of having every one of his efforts thrased into dust, he just stood there. What was his mother going to say? She's going to be disappointed. She doesn't ask for much, just that he used his brain and actually pass. But he didn't. She gave him a bare mininum and he failed. He failed. He didn't even make it past the first semester. The one thing he was working towards, to prove himself. Gone. All gone. He failed, and now everyone's going to know how much of a big fat failure he was.

[6:28 PM]He stayed there until the Semester Graduation passed. Having to stand there in the audience. Just watched his dream crumble. He almost stayed after closing time, until he was sent home.

[6:29 PM]Knowing Newton, the first thing he did was try and butter Nana up. Flattery, helping out extra today, being on best behavior. He was even considering lying to her. But, when the subject of the Semester Test came up, he spilled it out.

[6:30 PM]He had tried his best, but he had gotten an F minus. He had flunked, and wouldn't be able to return. Possibly until the entire current Course was over.

[6:33 PM]And as Newton feared, Nana's reaction was extreme. Of course, she didn't hit him, not physically. But with all the passive aggressiveness of the world she bashed his emotions done. About how much she wanted him to succeed, and how much she had to do to get him in there. She started to assume that Newton had slacked off, because to believe he failed at his very best was to assume he wasn't good enough.(edited)

[6:34 PM]Every time Newton tried to interrupt Nana had become more angry. Raising her voice, talking about how back then nobody but the best got in, and how Newton was lucky to be there. It seemed like raw mindless emotion rather than a considerate mother who would consider her son's emotions at the time.

[6:35 PM]You get the picture. Arguement breaks out, some very nasty things are said, and Newton is grounded from pretty much everything with a disappointed mother who had called him ungrateful for slacking off in school.

[6:37 PM]As for his dad, his mentality is basically "He hasn't said any mean things like Mumsy did and people like him so when he comes back we can have good times fishing and being son and father and everything will be okay because he will say he's proud of me and I need someone to tell me this I need it"
