About three years ago, a woman came into my studio and looked at this painting. For a long time. She left awhile later. A couple of days after I got a call from the woman. She wanted to know if I still had it and if so, she wanted it and could I ship it to her. I think this was the first painting I ever shipped and was an important part of me believing I could do this thing called be an artist and have people want to pay me for it. The next spring I received a large envelope in the mail. Innit was a letter from the woman. Turns out she was a teacher of high school students. She told me that she had the painting in her classroom all year and asked the students to write about how the painting felt to them. All of their notes were included too.
