More Romanoff-Maximoff family shenanigans during a vacation
(Based on a true personal story LMAO)
‘Traveler Mom’ Nat x ‘Forgetful Mama’ Wanda
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The family were having a vacation in New Zealand. They rent an RV so they could have an exciting family adventure. It was currently Wanda’s turn to drive. They stopped by at a gas station to fill up the gas.
A little longer fic SO BUCKLE UP
“I’m gonna go to the toilet.”
“Alright, I’ll fill up the gas tank.”
“You kids want anything?” Natasha asked the kids who were sitting in the back, engrossed in some mobile game.
“Nope.” Their teenage daughter said popping the ‘P’. “Oooh can I sit in the front? Sitting backwards in an RV is making me dizzy.”
Natasha nodded, “Sure honey, go ahead.” she then left to go to the toilet and Y/n moved to the front seat.
Few minutes later, Wanda enters the driver seat. “Hey Mama, gas all filled up?” Y/n asked.
“Yeap! And we’re ready to hit the road.” Wanda then moved the car forward.
Y/n thought her Mama was just trying to park the RV elsewhere so they don’t take up the space. Until Wanda didn’t stop and slowly got on to the main road.
That’s when Y/n had to put down her phone and look back. Maybe her mom entered the RV without her noticing (she was a spy after all), but no there was only her little siblings who were sleeping. Still, no sign of her mom.
The music ‘Closer to Fine’ started playing. “Oh I love this song!” Wanda said nonchalantly and started singing along.
“Closerrr I am to fiiNEEEE” Wanda sang while accelerating the RV.
“Mama?”
“Clo- Yes, darling?” Wanda asked, still oblivious.
“Where’s mom??”
That’s when Wanda’s eyes almost popped out of her eyes socket, “HOLYSHIT-“ she slammed on the breaks.
THUD!
- Natasha’s POV -
Natasha got out of the toilet just in time to see the RV slowly moving forward. She thought the same thing as Y/n. Until Wanda instead started to move the car to the main road.
“Oh no… ohhhnononono WANDA!” She quickly chased after the RV
Tumblr media
“WANDA PLEASE STOP.“ She chased the RV like a madman.
“DETKA”
She prayed to god one of their kids don’t inherit Wanda’s memory of a dory.
“WANDA PLEA-“ and one of her kids did remember, unfortunately the sudden break of the RV and the speed of her running cause Natasha to collide head on with the side-view mirror.

The boys extended their break from August with this new season that was filmed in New Zealand, in September 2019. They did a camping trip this time. The suitcases they used were from RIMOWA. As they traveled using a Hyundai car, the official account of the brand posted some tweets about it (eng trans by BTS Trans).
They arrived at Christchurch international airport and directly headed to the RV Super Centre, via a SuperShuttle, to rent their vehicles.
Before starting their journey, they went to Speight’s Ale House to eat, as well as to Kathmandu Tower Junction and Kosco to buy equipment and food.
Then they hit the road, first stopping at Highway cafe, then at Lake Lyndon and then at Porters Lodge where they spent the night and the day after.
After a hike in the mountain, they left the lodge. They stopped in Geraldine to fill the tank and buy more clothes. After that, they went to the Farm Barn Cafe. The SUV team left early to buy food at the Four Square Supermarket of Tekapo and they all reunited at the observatory of Mt John.
They spend the night at Lake Tekapo Holiday Park and Backpackers Lodge, in this cabin. They went back to the same Four Square Supermarket in the morning and then left for Mt Cook. On their way, they stopped here to enjoy the view of the Lake Pukaki. I assume they did the Hooker Valley Track, starting from here.
After their first camping night, they went to clean and relax at Hot Tubs Omarama. It’s there that the picture of Jimin with a rainbow on his check was taken, and in the background of said picture, you can see a Hongi. Then they went to Nevis Bungy for some extreme sport. The group split again: Suga, RM, V, and Jung Kook went grocery shopping at the Countdown from Queenstown while Jin, j-hope, and Jimin directly went to Kinloch Lodge.
After a night at the camping site, they drove to Greenstone Valley to take a flight with the Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters and have fun at the glacier on Mt. Aspiring. Then, Jimin and V stayed in Greenstone Valley to do horse/bike riding while Jin, SUGA, j-hope, and Jung Kook went fishing salmon with Queenstown Fishing on Lake Wakatipu (the editors probably made a mistake because it’s written Lake Taupo on the screen and Lake Taupo is in the Northern Island). RM came back to Kinloch Lodge to work.
The boys finished their trip at Queenstown, where they stayed in a rented house called The Views by Touch of Spice. They also went to Skyline Queenstown to do luge after taking the gondola. In the afternoon, Jin, SUGA, and Jung Kook went fishing, V went to the Ivan Clark Gallery and sat under this tree (he also went there and here in the Behind episode), while j-hope, RM, and Jimin biked to The Boatshed Cafe, most likely following this itinerary.
In the last episode, we saw V pursuing his walk around downtown Queenstown and stopping by the Remarkable Gifts shop,  while j-hope, RM, and Jimin biked to a park before going grocery shopping at the Freshchoice of Queenstown.

New Zealand: REBOOTED
Tumblr media
One of my favorite views in New Zealand: Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown.
The other day as I was doctoring my americano at my favorite, local, hippie-dippy coffee shop along the American River, an older guy piped up and said to me, “Don’t we live in the most beautiful place in the world?”
I thought, Yeah, it’s nice, but you’ve obviously never been to New Zealand.
Sure, I haven’t been everywhere, much like this man, but I have been to 40 countries and I stand by my vote that New Zealand is the most beautiful place in the world.
Spanky and I first visited NZ a decade ago (!!) Our first trip to New Zealand 10 years ago also marks our nomadiversary, when we quit our jobs, sold our house and 80 acres in northeast Washington and traveled the world for seven months then became nomads, more or less. Can you believe we’ve been traveling the world for 10 years now?! Of course, we’ve worked, gone through a few homes and RVs during that time, but Spank and I figure we’ve spent at least half of that time on the road really traveling (this also means we’ve pretty much spent five years of our marriage together 24-7! And, we still like each other! Love, even!)
Tumblr media
Two greenhorn nomads visiting New Zealand for the first time back in 2009.
As for NZ, we haven’t been back to the country that still holds the title of favorite for us since 2013. Let’s just say, it’s about darn time. As Spank would say, It’s time to go back to Never Never Land and remember what it’s like to fly (Let me just add that every once in a while my husband shock me with a truly genius metaphor; this is one of them. On that same day, he also said we were “outsourcing creativity” as a culture. He was on a roll!)
It’s true, NZ has become “our place.” Our place where we can reset and remember. It has nothing to do with hobbits or the people of Middle Earth that bring out this wanderlust and renewal in us, though it’s no surprise that the country was the backdrop for all of these mythical, whimsical movies. The scenery is breathtaking and has literally everything to offer, from waterfalls and turquoise lakes to glaciers and ferns the size of your torso. But it’s even more than that. It’s quiet. It’s rest. In NZ you can live life at a slower pace and remember what living is for.
Tumblr media
This is the photo that gets the butterflies flapping: Camping on Lake Wanaka.
I just started reading Shauna Niequist’s book “Present Over Perfect” and I can relate to her description of her lakehouse in Michigan—it’s what NZ is for both Spank and me.
“It’s at the lake that my priorities reshuffle, aligning more closely with my true nature…Part of the magic of the lake is that it isn’t home—it’s away, and away allows us to see the rhythms and dimensions of our lives more clearly.
…I do want the way of living that I’ve tasted here to inform and ground how I live everywhere, all year long. The lake gives me something to aspire to—a reminder, a rhythm, a pattern. Simple, connected to God and his world and people, uncomplicated by lots of stuff.”
Now, we don’t have lots of stuff—anymore. We live in an RV. But, even though it’s hard to jam stuff into our small living space, that doesn’t mean we don’t continually find ourselves in that mode of thinking that more is more. It’s what we’re taught from a young age. It’s what we are conditioned to strive after. More. Busier. It’s not even that I’ve been that busy. Honestly, last year I was pretty lazy. We started the year with a new house and a new life, really, but it wasn’t us. There was too much stuff. Too much time and money spent on that stuff and that space we were occupying, and we didn’t want it occupying us. So, we sold again—our fourth house in 10 years—and went back to the RV life (our fourth RV in 10 years). But, it was hard to adjust again. I was excited about my new jobs at the house and gung ho to make them mine. When those were zapped into extinction in just six months, it left me a little shell-shocked wondering what to do—again.
I was also shocked to see how easily the green-eyed monster was released from inside of me. As soon as we got a house we thought we were going to live in for the foreseeable future it was all online shopping and spend, spend, spend. Spank was ready to put in a vineyard and solar for crying out loud. How did two footloose, practicing and preachy gypsies dive out of what they believed in and back into the “American Dream” with the signing of a few (OK, like 50) papers? Well, first of all they call it the “dream,” so we’re suppoed to think it is. And we were excited at first. We were excited to have a place to host our friends and family, and that was the best part about owning (renting from the government, let’s be real) a house, but that had no longevity once the newness wore off.
Tumblr media
Ready to do more hiking: Abel Tasman Great Walk 2013.
Needless to say, 2018 was a whirlwind of that, and it was busy, but only because we made it that way. So, we head to New Zealand, and just in the nick of time, I think. It’s a great place to kick off a new year with new goals and just wipe the slate clean. Reboot. Rewire, or unwire, some of those gunked up cultural connections that have been energized in our brains in the last few years. It’s time to pull the plug and start anew.
