After a break, we begin with a fresh new game, new arc. The 'scheme' arc.

Before I begin watching,

-I'm excited to see the new arc, we'll have some new characters, and given the format, new opening lineup as well.

Haven't been paying attention to episode names, but they're quite cool! We finished the encounter arc, and now the scheme arc starts!

-Will keiwa return?

Now, let's begin:

- Tsumuri is doing the recap this time... And recording on her tablet? Wow, nice idea you took from Keiwa! Lol

- DGP staff as family, yup. By the way... How far does his wish of 'DGP staff' extend, we're only going to see Tsumuri and concierge -san for now, but does other unseen members, plus punkjack gets technically included......?

- yes we do have new disposable characters in opening lineup. But wait... Michinaga is there, but Neon isn't? Hmmm?

- since everyone involved here retains their memory, Ace's wish basically turned out as playing pretend family with DGP staff like a lonely kid.... Sigh..

- but here's the true objective, it'll give Ace more opportunity to closely investigate DGP huhuhu!

- And here's our first important question of the day! How are players selected? I've been curious too.

-Heh, careful examination. Their criterias are sus as well.

If defeating Jamato monsters were their main goal, they'd select people who at least have some fighting experience, not be super random like grandpa's and people with zero fighting ability....

- Ace-kun's previous wishes!! And woah woah woah, his first wish was to participate in every game?

So this way Ace is garunteed to have chances even if he loses a game. Also gets to prevent anyone's catastrophic wish being granted, also *getting lost in 105th theory and questions*

- his other wish of living without having to work is THE wishful life though 😄.

- And he definitely didn't just win 4 times only, right? We're only seeing a few cards here.

- Pfff.. Ace on super troll mode 🤣 Ace-sama's autograph! (a Tumblr user literally predicted this scene!)

However, we do get another confirmation from this funny scene - previous wishes indeed gets carried over to the next reset world.

- The little moment of Ace falling behind a few steps and quickly catching upto Tsumuri, a slight crack to his cool demeanor, I'm loving such small details in this show.

- Keiwa-kun!!! Okay, I can stop being suspicious about disqualified rider's fate, they did went back to normal lives... For now at least.

- Keiwa's personality may seem totally different, but you know what, it's actually not that strange. He's on his depressed state, he is kinda emotionally vulnerable and Can lose hope, as we've seen in episode 1. Makes sense. Unless there's more to it of course.

- But picking sushi over tanuki soba?? 😵‍💫 Now that's a plot twist I did not see coming!!

- oh right, punkjack. Going in to rig the game huh.

- Haha, now there's a wild character who can even annoy Ace!

- But is Tsumuri aware of the punkjack invasion?

- Ace is absolutely dumbfounded for once! Woah, his reaction is SO keiwa-like, I mistook this voice as keiwa's in the preview!

- disposable character's talk time. I almost gave Azuma-kun's reaction too.

- Aha, important question no 2! Is this punkjack the same as before? That little expression of yours spoke 'yes', even if you deny so hard, Hareruya Win-san.

The name's also something, if it's even his actual name.

- Oh hello timefire-san, I mean Neon's father. And we have another new character join the suspicious list.

- But they can add more players after a round? okay.

- oh wow, the new girl's already dead, way too disposable. I didn't even get her name or rider name. She's *reads back* letter? Ok whatever, sayonara.

- Neon's cool entrance! And Beat buckle debut! Not gonna pretend to see this for the first time, I've been seeing pics beat Nago, and Na-go's default form is very funky, so cool, love the design.

Well, now we have 2 guitar yeilding players. Just drop everything and give us a concert now! 😁

- however, Beat buckle's debut was so... Unceremonious, off screen, compared to some other main buckles....hmm

- Neon dropping everyone's honorifics, lol

- *gasp* Ace actually spelt out his goal!!! But of course, wrapped it with his signature 'can you believe me'.

- and the parallel between Ace and Neon, one trying to run away, another trying to find his mother... Ah... the feels

an old anon sent me on the quest of a lifetime when they first asked for sakura fic recs and my brain went “lets read every fic on ao3 in the sakura haruno tag” (also ff.net but thats gonna have to be another post in the far off future bc ff is an old giant)

Writing Tips

I get a lot of asks about tips on writing so i figured i’d just make a huge ass post for ya’ll :)

this shit covers: character, plot, motivation, past vs present tense, 3rd vs 1st verson, oneshots vs multi chapter fics, moodboards for character building, dialogue, oc’s vs reader inserts, face claims, the grocery store test, the meme test

Character

okay i want to start by saying: i used to write imagines so writing in character was like MY THING for like 6 years so i have a LOT OF PRACTICE with watching something and picking up on characters and i’ve spent THOUSANDS of hours watching shows. so like, i’ve spent a lot of time on this you know? so don’t feel bad if you have a life and havent had as much practice :)

so at the moment, i’ve been doing character mood boards to help figure out a character? but the thing about that is im picky about face claims and it can be hard so this is an easily skippable option and i’m not even sure if i enjoy it yet you know?

so first: i think of a story. i think of the type of OC that’s involved, i think about what they’re like, (i sometimes find a face claim), i give them a name

for me, as soon as they have a name and sort of a face in my brain, they take on a life of their own. a character knows when you’ve found the right name and face for it and it comes alive when you do. like for me, Birdie was originally ‘Cherry’ but she was like ‘bitch no’ and wouldn’t let me write her until i found her name.

to be honest. i don’t plan things. like. when i write, the character just takes over. i have no control. they do what they want. fucking Valentina and Harry in Trouvaille, i had a whole angst scene for them and these assholes decided to go on the terrace and tell each other they like each other instead and then the story just ended. like. i had a pLAN and they RUINED IT.

you can’t be afraid if letting your characters do what they want to do. when you plot, a loose outline is good but i just throw my characters into a situation and see where they go.

like for my final gang au chapter, did i want Michael to leave town? no. but he needed to take Dove and get the fuck out of there you know?

i don’t make playlists really, sometimes certain songs stick to people, like one of my characters, his song right now is Girlfriend by Anderson East and that song was sort of inspiration.

I don’t know where my inspiration comes from. obviously i write a FUCK ton so let me see if i can explain a few past stories and where they came from.

Gang AU was born from a post by @hereforlukescruff​ about the song ‘Or Nah.’

Cromulent was based off a tumblr post about enemies fake dating

Wild one was legit just me figuring out how to work all of @glitterprincelu​s fav things into one fic

Floral was based off of looking at my favourite tattoo artists floral tattoos

Trouvaille was originally pompous New York! Calum but as i developed it, it was Harry and i couldn’t stop him from pushing Cal out of the way and being like ‘this is my apartment you wanker get the fuck out of here and let me smoke and paint in peace.’

Noise was originally based off an idea by @palliddark​ that i was blessed enough to receive, she also had influence in Cromulent because months ago she requested a post about the boys recording having sex for a song.

So i think what we’re realizing here is a lot of it comes through interacting with other creators. one of my new pieces is based off of 2 5sos songs and one is based off of a person in Love Island. so inspo can hit from anywhere

the fic im working on now came from me talking to @harryforvogue​ about the new Gucci ads Harry did.

i started a Greaser Cal that i dropped cuz im a whore, but it was inspired by @calsangel​ and hopefully it gets completed sometime soon

like. talking to other creative people is just a breeding pool for ideas. people you trust and love, people who you can bounce off of. listen for stories in music, study people and characters and who knows where it might lead you :)

i hope this helps. but yeah. my number one piece of advice: talk about writing, talk about stories, talk about the guys you want to write about and inspo WILL hit.

****** Moodboard and Character (final thoughts)

So basically since i wrote that OG advice, i’ve begun to realize: moodboards are a good tool because if you can easily come up with 9 pics for a character they’re pretty well thought out. 

for example, my easiest moodboard to make was for Birdie in my gang au

Birdie: likes scrunchies, reading, classic stories, ice cream, bubblegum, lollipops, acrylic nails, having her hair in a bun

my worst moodboard was for a character named Annabelle from Noise

i started and was like... who is Annabelle: she’s blonde... she uhhhh is doing psychology?

and that’s all i could get because Annabelle was a mostly dialogue driven character with no actual mentioned likes or dislikes, in my eyes, Annabelle was not a well thought out character.

so moodboards can help because they show you how well you’ve got your characters figured out.

Plot

so plot is tough. i tend to gravitate more to character driven plot because characters are my #thing. i’m going to start by going through some of my plotlines and going over the good and bad and hopefully have an answer at the end of it after picking apart my writing. should be FUN.

long fic plots

Noise plot: Annabelle gets a new neighbour and he keeps fucking girls and waking her up and they have banter, he’s a hothead and invites her to psychoanalyze him and it leads to some tension but he is soft for her right away and they a little awkward with each other but finally give love a try.

Floral plot: would renowned tattoo artist Calum chooses a new apprentice, socially awkward and anxious Lily, they’re attracted to each other but the confines of a boss and pupil relationship are tight and evident, creating tensions. Calum struggles with being professional while falling for the cute apprentice, especially when pressure is put on them by their friends, after slow burn and anxiousness they finally get together.

Cromulent plot: Calum has a new PR relationship with Chlo and he hates her, he thinks she’s fake and does everything he can to piss her off, finally deciding to fuck with her emotions by being a GREAT boyfriend which ends up hurting her and he realizes maybe she’s not so bad after all, things are a little confusing but they finally sit down and talk it out and address some of Calum’s insecurities about her past relationships and PR stunts, they agree to give love a try.

so, from these 3 long fic outlines we can see i usually go for character based turmoil which works well for fics between 10-15k (or longer, Trouvaille fits this format and it was 19k) I just think, relationships take time and people struggle to figure themselves out enough to enter a relationship. if you have some fiery characters and banter (Cromulent and Noise) or perhaps awkward anxiety and tip toeing (Floral and Trouvaille) shit works out you know?

for smaller oneshot fics plots can be easier and more situational i think.

Movie Snack plot : Cal goes to Luke and his GF’s place for movies and Luke gets bored and eats the reader out in front of Cal which leads to sex.

Road Trip plot : Luke and reader are dating and on a road trip they’re horny but end up having to share a room with Cal who has always had a thing for the reader, smut ensues. 

Stay Still plot : Tattooist!Cal is the readers fuck buddy and she goes to get her tits pierced, ending up with Luke as her piercer, but Calum shows up and angst leads to smut.

so yeah, for smaller 1-5k little smut pieces it can be more relaxed, smut is just smut, not love, and sex is a hell of a lot easier than love you know? 

yeah, so that’s all my plot advice

3rd person, 1st person, what the fuck person

when it comes to HOW you write your fic (what person, what tense, etc...) that’s up to you. it’s honestly whatever you feel best in. i’ve dabbled with a bit of everything. you just have to find what feels the most natural to you :) that’s the only advice i can give on this because no one thing is better than the other, it’s up to you.

one tip for 3rd person i have is to generally focus on one character. i’m a fan of doing the thing where for example, in Cromulent, we focus on Calum and why he doesn’t like Chlo. if we switched to Chlo a lot it would take away from the unreliable narration and bias Calum has. the good thing is to stay with Calum and be angry at Chlo and realize with Cal that she’s not so bad.

but that’s just me.

you can do switching when characters are together or on a phone call, like if you’re with Calum but he’s calling (for example) Chlo and then you want to see her reaction you can do

Calum groaned, staring at the ceiling, “bla bla cal saying shit”

“bla bla Chlo answering” she held the phone tighter etc...

and just like that you’re now with Chlo not Calum. 

*********** OC’s vs Reader Insert

i’ll be real here: for some reason, i feel like reader inserts are more read on tumblr and i started out doing reader inserts to build a following. 

personally, i prefer writing OC’s because you can go more in depth with EVERYTHING. 

it’s honestly up to you what you want to do. i’ve decided to do my short smuts at reader insert and longer fics as OC but it’s whatever works for you at the end of the day.

Dialogue

I’m a fan of dialogue driving story, Noise was so much fucking dialogue it’s insane. finding your characters voice is important and sticking with that makes a huge difference. if you’re character can kind of be seen based JUST on what they’re saying, thats a good sign.

i hate to say it but imma say it: when doing 5sos it’s important to know they’re Australian. some countries have different mannerisms and such, for example, i’m Canadian but i can’t have Calum out here saying “it’s a nice day eh?” you know? so, i would advise to try to get a handle on accents and word choice specifically to make them more believable. as is said in the iconic movie Tropic Thunder

Motivation

so this is probably one of the biggest issues writers are facing and i’m about to get REAL AS FUCK.

on tumblr, it can feel like once you gain a following you CONSTANTLY need to be pumping shit out for them.

back in the day, i was posting a HC a day and a lot of it was for hogwarts!5sos. it felt like a job, which wasn’t anyone elses doing per se, i just think a lot of fic writers get caught up in this pressure whether it’s imposed by anons or not (im lucky that i’ve never had anon pressure and i’m very grateful for my amazing followers tbh)

Tumblr is not a job. if you’re writing, write for you. you are blessing tumblr with you’re writing. please don’t feel pressure to put stuff out or write a new chapter or anything.

if you ever feel like you’re under a lot of pressure, take a few days away, find the root of your writing joy. always do what you want to do. if you have to turn off asks to feel sane, do it. if you gotta block mean anons pressuring you, do it. you don’t owe anyone anything.

your writing is a gift graciously bestowed on this hellsite and this site shouldn’t make you feel pressured to write and give content FOR FREE. it shouldn’t make you lose your passion and make writing feel like a chore or job.

motivation can be hard. i’m a fucking psycho so don’t use me as a base for what you should be doing. i put out a fic a week which i really shouldn’t be doing, it’s not practical. but i can type fast as fuck and writing 1 or 2k in 10 minutes is normal for me so don’t use me as an example you know.

go at your own pace. write what you love. write au’s or for the characters you love and hopefully the rest will come.

******** Multi Chapter vs oneshots

ok more realness, pros and cons of each

oneshots:

pros:

-its one and done, no need to worry about putting out more

-they can be fun

-it’s all in one place which a lot of readers like

Cons:

-can be long af

-take longer to write since a oneshot is probably like 10+k depending on who you are as opposed to perhaps 5k chapters of a multi chapter fic 

Multi Chapter

pros:

-people are excited for more

-cliffhangers are fun

-people interact with you more about chapters to come

cons:

-more pressure to put out new chapters

-with each new chapter you’re probably losing likes because people get bored or forget about it because people sometimes don’t have the attention span or whatever to continue reading whenever you update

-usually tend to be longer than a oneshot (5k chapters means that in 2 chapters you have probably surpasses a oneshot length of 10ishk)

So i will be real. i prefer oneshots. i adore my gang au which was long as fuck and super multi chaptered but it’s tough to see the likes go down and down. plus, i wrote all of Penumbra (the main multi chaptered part) before i started putting it out so i had no pressure to write more cuz that shit was done before i started posting.

which does help. if you want to write the whole thing before you start posting it takes off the first con but you’re still left with the other 2.

Face Claims

i feel like for some characters they’re born without a face claim but i totally get it if you want to use a face claim before you even start. finding face claims can be hard so you have to get ready to go creep on insta and look at models and figure out who you like. a lot of insta models follow each other so once you find a model you like, look through their following list or recent likes to see other models.

another thing you can do is go for brands or photographers who link their models. Fashion Nova for example, if you’re scrolling through and like a girl the link is there. and the same goes for some photographers. there’s a lot of accounts that are just for hot girls with links to their instas so (even if it feel weird) you should go check those out :)

The Grocery Store Test

next, for making characters, i think for me name is a big part of it. once a character finds their name that character comes alive in my mind. i was thinking about this yesterday and i said to myself, ‘you know you have a good grasp on your character when you can imagine them in a grocery store and know what they’d do.’

for example:

Birdie (from Gang AU) would go look at nail polish and candy, Luke would legit have to put her in the cart to get her out of there and if there’s a book section? good luck man

Valentina (trouvaille) is just gorgeous. she and Harry would go and he’d push the cart and she’d have a nicely written notepad of things to get and she’d look so pretty, head bowed, crossing things off, and Harry would be such a melt for her. he would crash into things cuz he’s so busy paying attention to her. she’d be a fan of picking up boxes and reading out nutritional values just to point out to Harry that eggos are not good for him.

so, Valentina and Birdie are probably my best OC’s if i’m being honest and because of that, these were easy.

now, take a character i didn’t work on as much and suddenly it’s different

Annabelle (noise) never really talked about anything but school and shitting on Calum so, i mean, i guess i can think of what she’d do in a store but.. like, i’d have to think about it you know?

so to me, we can see the difference between a fully fledged OC and one that needs to be worked on.

but, Noise still got a lot of likes so i dunno, i’m just self critical i guess.

i think, when it comes to characters, everyone has flaws. Annabelle is too critical of Calum and has a stigma about wealth, Valentina… she’s flawless not gonna lie but she’s a little too afraid of stepping on other people’s toes and she should probably be less anxious, Birdie is way too sentimental and cries over everything, plus she’s way too trusting and naive at times.

it’s balance. but once a character is born in your brain, you just gotta give them love and hopefully others will as well :)

my most recent advice is: if you can meme a character or dynamic between characters, you know you’re gucci. imma leave a meme here for a fic i’m working on and ya’ll will have no clue what it means but whatever it’s a point

so first of all we all got a booth! and by “we all” i mean abbey @kimberlyannharts​ and ben @brodyromero​ to sell their art, it was called super mega art and it was super mega fun! we all hung out there a lot but we also walked around to meet the rangers and lot of them stopped by to hang out with us too which was so sweet :’)

carla perez / rita repulsa, mmpr

carla is literally the nicest warmest person in the world i’m ready to lay down my life for her! she exudes fun mom energy and she’s so pretty and she was so happy to talk with us about rita, i think we visited her booth pretty much every day and also said hi every time she passed by our booth

we told her that we loved rita and stan villainesses!! and she loved it! and that we loved her portrayal of rita as more fun and childish and full of energy and she said yeah, the directors asked her to take rita in a new direction when she was cast while still staying true to who rita was so she decided to make rita more childish and fun with the sticking out her tongue and everything and we told her it was perfect bc rita with her tongue out is literally iconic

tabby asked how she felt about rita turning good and she said she liked it bc she got to be on screen without all the rita makeup/wardrobe but she also loved playing evil rita! i asked her if she heard about thrax and she was like OH YEAH I HEARD THEY GAVE US A SON but she definitely had not watched it (respect) and we were trying to figure out how thrax could exist and we collectively decided (mostly tabby and carla) that thrax was adopted and rita and zedd were trying to turn him good, which she loved

tabby showed her the mean girls video and she fucking loved it so much!!! she was SO impressed by how tabby manipped rita and tommy making out and she went around telling everybody “she made me kiss jdf!!” which was sooo cute and when abbey and i went to see her on our own and i was like “i heard you saw the mean girls video” she said “i did!! she’s so cute and talented!” about tabby, we love a tabby thunderpunks stan!!

we went to get a video message from her and melody for kels (cassiechans on twitter) because kels is the og villainess stan and they were so excited and REHEARSED what they were gonna say (we just asked them to do “the voice” and say “live fast die young bad girls do it well”, they came up with everything else!) and here they are, aren’t they the literal cutest things on the planet?!?!

she loved abbey’s zedd/rita design and wanted a shirt but we didn’t have her size so she told abbey to dm her when her online store is open!!!! she also signed my zedd/rita print with “bad girls do it well” bc i asked and i would DIE FOR HER

so the first night we get to the hotel, tabby tells me to close my eyes and come over and she hands me A PINK ZEO RANGER FUNKO POP, custom made by jalenv515 on instagram (check his stuff out!) and i lost my mind because its SO good and it’s my girl and i love it and tabby and katherine so much <3 the guy who made it asked her to ask me to get a pic with it so ofc i had to do that and show catherine 

she definitely did not remember us from the last two cons we saw her at but you know what i respect that! queen of being too popular to remember faces (brennan mejia take notes) but i think she did remember me after this time :’)

i said “so tabby actually got me this as a gift because i literally love kat hillard so much she is my entire soul” and she was SO touched and delighted to see the funko pop she was like “oh my god this is so cool!” and i was like, she’s going on the center of my power rangers shrine for reals

we asked her which season she liked better for kat and she said zeo but me and tabby were like “no, turbo rights only” and listed off the amazing kat episodes in turbo and she agreed with us that the episode with the ballerina and the weight gain episode were so good! i think she says zeo automatically bc it’s her only full season and dudebros love it so she was probably surprised that we were like fuck zeo lives turbo is skinny but... turbo IS skinny :)

i asked if she read soul of the dragon and she said she did! and i said it was the only comic i read bc i have to read everything kat is in and she laughed and she said she liked it and i said i loved that kat and tommy were a partnership but i was mad kat didn’t get to morph! and she was like “i know! but it has to be all about tommy as ALWAYS” with an EYE ROLL and me and tabby were ascending THE SHADE...I LOVE HER SO MUCH

we took a pic with her holding the funko pop and then i posted the pic on instagram w/ a cheesy caption of how much i love kat and she commented “aww you are too sweet” with a pink heart emoji... my actual mother who raised me

AND THEN at the end of the last day when we were standing around waiting to say goodbyes, she was heading out and we all started saying GOODBYE QUEEN and she stopped when she saw me and said she loved the pic and the pop on instagram!!!! she remembered me!!!!! and i told her the guy who made them was really happy she liked it and he’s working on more kat pops including unmorphed kat and turbo kat and she was so thrilled!!

she is soooo nice she has this high-pitched voice it’s so sweet i always feel so soothed whenever she speaks near me she is also so pretty!! 

the others talked to her without me on day 1 and melody said she liked astronema’s purple wig best and didn’t like the white wig w/ the black things in it bc they kept getting in her way, and she loved karone’s outfit because it was easier to fight in

i went with abbey to drop off her astronema doodle for melody and she loved it!! shes so cuuuute

and then after that we took her to our booth bc it was just two away from gazbot’s and she loved it everyone always loves ben and abbey’s art bc its the greatest in the world :’)

first of all, ben abbey and i saw him passing by while we were having dinner at gatorville and we all GASPED and he noticed and grinned and waved at us while he was walking by.... an angel literally an angel

he’s so cute and sweet! he wore his yellow shirt w/ dustin’s logo on it all three days, king of branding

i got abbey’s dustin sticker signed by him and she gave him one of his own and he loved itttt

LITERALLY THE STAR ATTRACTION every time we passed by his booth his line was a mile long, meanwhile all the originals’ booths right across from him were like [crickets chirping] it was so funny lmao

so we only got to see him on the last day bc his line was so long and nobody wanted to stand in it but tabby wanted to meet him! and then she got scared and almost walked away but a really nice girl (i think part of chris khayman lee’s team??) stopped her and was like THIS IS UR MOMENT and it was!!!

he is literally so sweet and handsome and cuddly he’s just a big teddy bear and he’s soooo charming and nice, he was wearing a manbun and like a full suit w/ a dress shirt, absolutely flexing on all the other boys in their t-shirts and jeans

tabby asked if he would do a pose holding her hand like he’s about to kiss it and he laughed and was like “okay but don’t show my wife!!” loyal king

he also hugged her twice hes so cuddly!! and we asked him about his other roles (he was in solo!) and he said he really enjoys expanding his filmography and stuff but power rangers is close to his heart and he also really likes doing parts that his kids can watch... it was the cutest thing

ok so firass is really hot and at one point he stopped by our table (bc richard called him over to look at abbey’s nick and fireheart print) and he was really nice but he’s. he’s so hot. we did not go to his table all weekend bc we were so intimidated hfdghfgd so thats why he doesnt get a section. but i do still love him i just cant speak w/ him or my brain will turn to jello probably

nic also won’t get a section bc i didnt really interact w/ him much but he stopped by the table twice to talk w/ abbey he loved her and her art!! chip squared!! he ranted about how hard it was to say fireheart in an american accent for all of them it sounded cute go talk to abbey for more details

anyway back to richard: somehow we just attract green rangers like bees to honey and idk why but i’m not complaining he’s so nice and handsome and funny! and he just LOVED talking with us like we stopped by his table every day and i dont think we even talked about mystic force or anything in particular, we were just chatting and he just loved it and like never wanted us to leave basically

i did ask him a question about xander’s personality and he legit went “uhh idk” and then started talking about himself???? KING OF NOT KNOWING SHIT ABOUT HIS OWN CHARACTER love that for him bc i also dont know shit about xander

he stopped by the table a couple times (well mostly we yelled HEY RICHARD and he came over) and he was so sweet and also when we told him we didn’t have xander art at our booth he jokingly rolled his eyes and said “of course” but then ben and abbey both doodled xander and came over to show him and he was SO TOUCHED 

he hugged us all goodbye individually and then at the end we were waiting to say goodbye to aljin, richard was leaving his booth and abbey waved at him and his eyes LIT UP and he switched course to walk over to us and say goodbye again!!!! he loves us and i love him so much!!!

hes so fun to talk to, we went to him on day 1 to get my tyzonn print (from gazbot) signed and we were just talking to him about all his roles and tabby asked “was that ur real hair” and he was like lmao no can’t you tell?? and was talking about how they originally were gonna dye his hair platinum blonde but he thought it looked awful so they went w/ the ugly wig and he said they wanted to differentiate him from his previous two power rangers characters so tyzonn had to be blond

and then he kept saying wig and we kept giggling about it and we had to explain to him that wig is teen slang for something really cool and awesome and he said to try it out and gestured with his arms and it was SO funny... king of memes

my first suggestion for a video message was to have him say “operation overdrive is the best season ever and if you dont like it go suck a dick” but he vetoed that (but he was laughing) lmao

and HE’S the one who suggested he say “operation overdrive is wig” and it was perfect go check out the video on my blog

its so overwhelming to even think about bc brody romero is literally LITERALLY my favorite ranger of all time and we spent SO MUCH time talking to will and all of it was fucking amazing i’ll try to point out the highlights but god there was just so much i love him SO much

he talked a lot about the time he spent in new zealand (bc zali and nari were there from australia and talking to him about it) and he told us a lot of stories about the cast getting drunk and having fun, he told us about the time he and the boys went w/ jordi to his home and learned about maori culture and he had to eat bugs and about the time nico got blackout drunk at star casino and made out w/ a completely random girl and they all gave him hell for it later lmao

he was having so much fun talking to us that at one point a random dudebro came up and brennan was around the booth and we were like “oh did you wanna buy something” and dudebro was like “no i just wanted to show them my comic” which literally was just an mmpr comic and he wasn’t even paying for anything what the fuck?? and will took one look at him and his comic and went “uh one second man” and turned back to us and completely ignored him until he went away and we all DIED laughing i love him SO much (sorry to brennan for leaving him w/ the dudebro lol)

at some point he was talking about other actors that he’s met and i asked if he’s seen other seasons and he made the :grimace: emoji and was like no and i was like good keep it that way ninja steel is the only season :) and he started laughing and was like COME OVER HERE AND HUG ME i could stay wrapped in his arms forever tbh

he called himself daddy once and everyone yelled at him

he said everyone in the ninja steel cast would just kiss each other on the mouth, but platonically, and kelson kissed all of them at least once and he kissed nico twice and it was just like, a thing they did and we were all like okay.gif but it was so cute

he said he felt bad for chip bc the cast was always asking him to adjust things and bringing up their own ideas for writing (things we know from peter complaining about chip’s writing and trying to get his own ideas in...) and said he preferred to not annoy him w/ all of that BUT he did say he got annoyed himself when chip would direct episodes and be VERY particular about exactly how he wanted them to act and we were like fuck him is he an actor??? and he laughed... he literally thought we were so funny even tho we are not at all lmao

at one point he was talking about how jordi was shirtless a lot and had big boobs (his words) and i said, on instinct, “tits out for ninja steel” and he goes what?? and asked me to repeat it and i had a brief moment of panic but i did repeat “tits out for ninja steel” thru my giggles and he burst into laughter again dfhjkgdfd TO BE CLEAR i should not have said that pls dont say that to actors’ faces he so easily could’ve made it uncomfortable or creepy (some actors...not mentioned in this post...are fucking creepy) but he didnt bc hes an angel so i guess its fine

every time we were hovering around brennan’s table on day 3 tabby says will kept looking over in our direction i think he missed us bc we were actually fun to talk to and not fucking dudebros trying to tell him the plots of seasons he does not give a shit about bc he wasnt in them (literally u do not need to explain the plot of dino thunder to actors who were not in dino thunder, pls calm down) and also bc he loves us :)

we all went in to save him from a dudebro at one point by just asking him random questions and the dudebro KEPT HOVERING like trying to be in the conversation as if we were FRIENDS with him (dont do this unless ur paying the actor for his time!!! he wasn’t even buying anything he was like “i’m just here to talk” bitch get his autograph or GO) and the dudebro tried to flex on us by being like “oh were you guys at th power morphicon with the yoshi and peter hug” and tabby got confused (bc we were at the next pmc and said yes) and kat just lied and said yes bc she hates dudebros and ben (the only truthful person) said no and abbey said yes and then will turned his head all the way around to me on the side and was like “were you there?” and i mean... i wasnt....but he wouldnt stop looking at me WHAT WAS I GONNA DO, DISAPPOINT HIM? so i said yes :) 

after the dudebro FINALLY fucking left kat was like “oh thank god we can leave now” and will was so confused until he realized “were you guys just trying to save me from talking to him” and he laughed and was so touched he was like “thank you guys you can see how my face just goes dead when they talk to me” dfhgjkdfg and we were like literally send up the bat signal any time you need us to save you and he said we were the best people to talk to the whole con and he loved ussss

at one point we were talking about indian rep in power rangers and he looks at ME and goes “so what do you think of jazz as desi rep” and idk will what am i supposed to think when you’re staring into my soul??? i said he was cool and i liked ravi but he wasn’t red and i’m red ranger ride or die so :) i just love brody romero so fucking much idk what else i was supposed to say.... ur literally ingrained in my soul william NOBODY ELSE CAN COME CLOSE

i asked “how much money do i have to pay to get you to arm wrestle brennan for me” and he was like “i dont know if there’s enough money in the world but you can ask brennan” and i called brennan over like “brennan will you please arm wrestle will for me” and he DID and it was so fun they were having such a good time, in the second round we all started chanting NINJA STEEL NINJA STEEL and you can see brennan getting shook by that for a second and then later will told us he appreciated our chanting so much and we were like yeah man, ninja steel FOREVER anyway here are the videos: one and two :) (they did not make me pay for it, generous kings)

brennan signed the polaroid first and his signature took up the whole bottom part of the polaroid and we yelled at him for not leaving any room for will and he was like “oh whoops....well he can sign THE BACK” i love it when he sasses us; so then we went to show will and he was like wow brennan and then signed his autograph EVEN BIGGER in sparkly silver pen all over the top so basically they had a dick-measuring contest over my polaroid and it was awesome, will’s is bigger tho B)

he also followed me and ben on instagram after day 2 and then EARLIER TODAY (11/13) he was stalking and followed ben’s personal acct and also reposted his ninja steel art onto his story and tagged him so in conclusion, brody romero first god second

WAIT IM NOT DONE when we went to say goodbye we were like “oh are you packing up soon” and he was so sparkly eyed over us chilling at his table he was like “nah im not” and then he looked at his phone and it was half hour till the con closed and he was like “oh wait never mind i guess i am” lmaoo king of not keeping track of time AND THEN HE HUGGED US ALL GOODBYE IN A BIG GROUP HUG and his biceps almost crushed abbey

phew ok i think that’s pretty much everything??? we also made a lot of cool friends w/ artists and stuff!! we talked to gazbot a lot and that was super fun, the girls next to our booth made custom power rangers pillows and they were really cool! i think kat, tabby, and ben all bought pillows from them they were really soft and cute, we talked to ceevee a lot (he actually gave me his extra exhibitor badge bc his brother couuldnt make it and then a different artist saw my badge saying “ceevee illustrations” and gave me a sticker for free because “you work for chris and he’s awesome” dfhgjdfhd i went back and paid him tho bc you dont take free shit from artists, kids! pay them for their work!) spent a lot of time yelling (nicely) at ceevee to make a poppy pin and he said he would bump it up the list for me :)

Sabriel Week 2019. Day Six: Neighbours/Roommates

What to do when you find a stranger in your hallway, trying to get to the neighbor that is no longer there? You can try giving some advice on the cheap hotels nearby or just ignore him. Sam, however, is the officer of the law and cannot just let the man vanish into the night. Especially, such a cute man. So, he might as well offer him to stay until morning... Or until death does them apart.

"Police, freeze! Hands where I can see them!" 

Sam reacts instinctively when he finds a stranger, trying to get into his neighbor's closed door.

The man in question freezes, following the commands, even though all Sam has is the dog on a leash. Which is actually quite a lot, considering that said dog is a trained police animal. 

"Turn around and identify yourself!" 

Again, the man complies instantly, his face changing from slightly concerned to surprised, when he sees the one who was giving out the orders. Sam knows that out of the uniform, without his badge or a gun, all of which are in the apartment, he can't really prove that he's a cop. 

But he stands his ground, just as the dog at his side also stared down a possible foe. 

"I'm Gabriel Novak. Just flew in, planned to crash in with my girlfriend, Ro. She lives there." The man still doesn't lower his arms, just points with one finger at the door he was fiddling with. "But it seems nobody is home..."

"She moved out. About a week ago. Said she's moving to Europe or something. And please, lower your arms... You can relax." 

The more Sam talks, the more Gabriel face falls. He's handsome, but visibly tired, the dust of the road and lightning of the hall accentuating the lines of his face. 

While wondering, what to do, Sam automatically pats the dog at his side, who relaxed as his owner does.

His neighbor was rather adventurous, her apartment always filled with new people, men and women alike. She loved to talk, but never would confess her own name. Her favorite subject of gossip though, when she managed to catch Sam, were her numerous lovers. 

Mostly it was in some odd hours of the night, when after the double shift or an emergency, Sam was returning after a dog walk. The woman would glide out of her apartment--her gait couldn't be described any other way--and just start talking. 

So this is how he knows, sort of, who the man before him is. 

He was one of her more or less steady flames, Gabe, as she called him. Author of some books or something, always on the move, always traveling. Which is why their meetings were very few and far in between, but so hot she could not help herself but to "keep him," as she put it. Except now he wanted something more permanent, settling in New York for at least a year, and in the last conversation, Ro was lamenting how, "Gabe was getting clingy". 

Apparently, her way of saying goodbye to clingy lovers was to move to the other side of the world without warning. Or anything. 

"So... What's his name?" 

Gabriel is the first to break the awkward silence, watching the dog at Sam's feet with a weak smile. 

"Dogmeat." Sam grits out, readying himself for a joke, that he heard plenty, but Gabriel surprises him. He only lightly laughs and nods, winking at the animal. 

"Good choice, and very good look alike. Though I certainly would like your version better if I could pet him." 

It seems surprises would never cease today, as Dogmeat does the maximum his ironclad training allows. He quietly whines and tugs at the leash lightly, indicating that he would very much like to be petted by Gabriel. With a cautious stare, Sam hesitates, looking from the German shepherd to Gabriel again.

"So, no problems with dogs?"

"Is loving them too much counts as a problem?" 

Sam chuckles and releases the dog, giving a freeing command. Dogmeat runs like a torpedo, paws scrambling on the slippery tile floor. 

His furry body collides with Gabriel legs and the dog whines and wags his tail happily as the man immediately starts petting him. 

Soon, Dogmeat is on the floor, all four legs up, his belly exposed for the expert rubs that Gabriel bestows, and Sam is left just to stare in amazement. 

Even though his dog's reactions are the perfect judge of character already he, after getting permission, still snaps a pic of Gabriel, focusing on his face. The man probably thinks it's for a cute moment with the dog--which it is, partially--but Sam also sends the pic to Jody, asking to run an urgent background check and attaches a name. 

In the meantime, Dogmeat having gotten plenty of belly rubs now stands and starts licking all over Gabriel's face, neck and even his hair. 

Sam just got to save the poor man, a quiet call of dog's name enough to stop the shower of slobbery affections, and Gabriel nods gratefully. 

He wisely doesn't speak before getting a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiping his face of the worst of the damage. 

"He likes you," Sam announces, perhaps a bit unnecessary, after the clear approval his dog shown this man. 

"Well, at least somebody does, that's good." 

He jokes, and smiles again, but Sam can see the exhaustion that weighs on him, and it's probably not all physical. Going to somebody you care about, expecting to find at least a place to rest and a friendly face, and finding only the closed door... That must be harsh. 

"You don't seem so bad to me either," Sam gives up, smirking, and finally this gets his a more genuine and energetic response. He likes as Gabriel's face morphs and he smirks in return, winking again, now to Sam, which is just as effective as it was on his dog. He can’t say he’s ready to drop on all fours before the man just yet, but it’s a pretty close call.  

"Which is why I'm gonna do you a favor." 

"Oh?" 

As Sam finally goes to unlock his door, Dogmeat glued to his side in the familiar formation, Gabriel tenses. Sam notices but does not comment, just gestures to the couple of suitcases, that are tucked in the corner of the hall. 

"You need a place to stay the night, at least. As an officer of the law, I can't in good conscience simply leave you out in the cold at,” He checks his watch, “4 am." He then opens the door and ushers the dog inside, who promptly lays down at her appointed spot, waiting for the wash and feeding. 

"So, you actually are a cop? Can I see the badge?" 

A curious tilt of the head cannot hide a guarded stare Gabriel levels him with. 

"Sure," that request is easy and actually sensible, making Sam like the man more and more, and with just a half a minute rummaging in the apartment, he shows off his credentials to Gabriel. Who hasn't moved much, though Sam noticed he and his suitcases had shifted a little closer to the exit, ready to bolt if needed with minimum casualties. 

Sam smiles approvingly, wishing every citizen would be as vigilant and careful with their life and health. Perhaps then he wouldn't need to work as much. 

On the other hand, that way, he might have not caught this late shift. 

He might not have met Gabriel. 

Who finally surrenders and rolls the suitcases in, while accessing Sam's home with a curious glance. 

Dogmeat wags his tail happily from his spot, watching two people interact, talk, and touch. 

It's just a random connection, as Sam helps Gabriel to shrug off the tangled coat. 

But as Gabriel lifts his amber eyes, hand not moving from Sam's bare forearms, sending a wave of goosebumps from the contact, he speaks, low and serious. 

"Thank you, Superman." 

"You're welcome... What?" 

And then Gabriel breaks out in a fit of giggles, breaking the moment and the contact, pointing at Sam's shirt, that does bear the symbol of the aforementioned superhero.

"You still haven't told me your name." 

Sam blushes, running a hand through his hair and huffing and embarrassed laugh himself. 

"Sorry. Sam Winchester. It's nice to meet you." 

They shake hands, and there it is again. 

Eye contact, catching, getting a lot longer than necessary, and Sam feels as his palm is enveloped in both of Gabriel's hands now, warm and dry. 

"It truly is." 

Sam turns in the bed, trying to escape the sun shining through the crack in the curtains. 

As soon as he settles back into the warm cocoon of blankets and pillows and blessed darkness however, there is a broad wet tongue on his face, licking him thoroughly. 

"Gabe, leave me alone. Day offff..." Sam mumbled, half asleep, hiding his face below his arms, shoving the loving attention away. Because really, he was promised a good rest tonight with as much sleep as he could handle. 

"Wow, now I feel really offended, you can't even tell the difference between us." 

Mocking remark sounds from the foot of the bed, definitely not from anywhere near his head, and Sam jumps up, eyes bleary, and trying to kick his brain into working mode.  

He relaxes, finding Gabriel, not on the bed, only standing near, a tray laden with dishes in his hands. 

The check of the bed reveals a bouncy Dogmeat, who's blinking happily at Sam. 

"Off the bed! Now!" 

The dog scatters off, properly shamed. For the moment, at least, until Gabe finds another way to sneak some treats to him or something. 

Gabriel stalks closer, settling a tray across Sam's knees above the blanket. It is barely able to fit all the mugs, plates and saucers stacked onto it, all filled with delicious foods, and two main dishes even covered with fancy metallic domes. 

"What's the occasion, Gabe? This seems like a lot." 

He knows the answer, but he just likes to hear it. So he asks. 

"Well, today

the day. It has been whole three years since we became roommates." Gabriel announces dramatically, even finishing off with a flashy shake of his hair, that got a lot longer, brown curls reaching his shoulders now.

"Seriously? Roommates? That's what you're going with?" 

It is hard to keep a straight face while Gabriel does his thing, pouting and staring imploringly. 

"Roommates with benefits?" Under Sam's raising his brows, unimpressed, and him fighting a smile, that probably got his face in a strange twitching grimace, Gabe gives up. 

"Okay, okay. Three years anniversary, my lovely boyfriend Superman. I'm happy you're still with me, and, as astounding that is, still love me." 

Sam ignores the pet name, that of course stuck--Dean laughed his ass off at that one--and pulls his boyfriend into a grateful kiss. 

After a tender and long moment they separate, barely, Gabe smiling softly. Sam though, he looks into the amber eyes deeply, not searching or waiting for anything. He is long made his peace with how they are. 

"Always. Happy anniversary." 

The next kiss is longer, lingering, Sam clutching onto Gabe's thin shirt to tug him closer. They stop only when the tray clangs alarmingly, and both giggle before moving everything around. 

Gabe slides under the blanket, cuddling to Sam's side and--dramatic as ever--reveals the first dish, lifting the dome covering.

The plate is practically drowning in maple syrup that drips from the impressive stack of fresh pancakes. 

"That's... very sweet," Mumbles Sam, eyeing the stack. 

"Indeed it is, which is exactly why I cooked it for myself. Yours is this one, my favorite health nut." 

And with a loud smooch to the cheek, Gabe lifts the dome from the second plate, this one with totally different contents. A bowl with oatmeal--egg, steamed vegetables, and a little cheese on top--front and center, its aroma and sight mouthwatering. It is surrounded by different kinds of toasts: avocado, more vegetables, fresh this time, mixed in with Sam's favorite Italian cheeses. 

"Thank you, Gabe... This is perfect." 

It really is, the tray filled with both of their favorite items, lovingly prepared and carefully arranged. Gabe waves off the gratitude, but his smile says it all. 

Before digging into the feast, Sam steals another thorough kiss from his boyfriend, deep and passionate. 

They even actually manage to eat before falling into bed to satisfy a different hunger and between more kisses, Sam whispers, again and again, 

"You are perfect. I love you."

I wanted to write to you the moment I finished reading Beep Beep Beep but I only had a chance to read it in the one quiet moment I had and I've been busy ever since. I'm sorry this took so long. I loved it! I loved it so much. It was such a satisfying ending. You managed to craft the final chapter in such a way that gives me a sense of peace and completion. Thank you so much for taking the time to write these lovely messages - I am such an Awkward Mess and I always have to stop myself from just replying with keysmashes and me screeching because I’m so overwhelmed with feelings from knowing that I’ve made something you’ve enjoyed so much. 

I really enjoyed keeping the ‘beep beep beep’ motif going throughout the whole fic, but having it near the very end made me so nostalgic. It all came full circle with the brand new alarm clock and the title drop ;; 

And thank you! Gosh I worried about including the kisses. Originally there wasn’t supposed to be one - the plan never included a kiss. But the emotions just went in that direction. Izuku had grown bolder than I expected him too and the mood fit a sweet little kiss so well, then at the end they were supposed to Almost Kiss and the alarm would go and that would be it - but Izuku had to go back for his girl !! I’m really glad it all worked out ~ They deserved those kisses.

The cafe was so much fun to visualise - all those stars! I’m happy you said magical because I that was the mood I was really trying for!

I would say the biggest concern with writing an AU fic is that the characters are going to be out of character - like, you’re playing with some well established backstory and motivations and twisting them in a way that you hope still matches the sort of character they are and could become. Hearing that I managed to capture that makes me so happy! I love them all. Even all the side characters and cameos. I’m glad you liked them too!

I would -love- to write more in this universe one day. I really enjoyed writing about it and living there for a few months in my head - I hope to share some of the side stories and random bits and pieces with you all one day. (There’s so much going on with everyone else too!) I’m so pleased the world building went down so well ;;

Okay, I apologize in advance, but we are back to the "Lili needs to experiment on tumblr functions"-hour. Because when I answered an ask just now (on web), I was put in the beta post editor, and didn't have an option to switch back to normal. And I need to experiment with that for a moment...

Yup, this is the beta editor and I can't switch back to standard.

Right. Guess it's time for an experiment. Feel free to ignore the rest of this post ;9

Now here's the thing. As cleverer people then me realized a while ago, if the beta editor is implemented on web the same way it is on mobile, that puts an automatic 10-image limit on your posts. Currently, that limit apparently already exists on web if you create an image post, but, crucially, it doesn't apply to text posts. In the new editor (as has been the case on mobile for a long while now), this distinction between post types is no longer made, so on mobile, the 10 image limit applies across the board.

As you will know, I run a Star Trek: Picard-centric sideblog, @mappinglasirena, where I answer questions and do deep dives (very occasionally). These are always accompanied by a ton of images, and because so far, they were always text posts where the 10 image limit doesn't apply, I could make that work.

I am very, very scared that if the beta editor is made permanent, the 10 image limit will become a hard and fast rule. Because at that point, mapping would become extremely hard, if not impossible.

Time for Some Changes.

This week has been exhausting. Lots of things going on. Lots of decisions being made.

I’ve been battling to catch up on my writing, following three months of bronchitis at the beginning of the year. The end was in sight. Almost there… One ebook finished. Two finished – and published. One week of a book blog tour and then I’m on the final writing spree.  Just one more…

Then came the September Trifecta of Terror. A month of hell. Two weeks of ear infection, and side effects from yet another course (two this time) of antibiotics (I’m allergic to most these days, so I don’t have much option). I picked myself up and continued writing.

September ended with a definite clanger – a double barreled attack. The first was totally unexpected. Regular readers will know how much I love my garden. (Here are the latest pics of the front yard)

I have an organic mixed vege-flower garden and am proud of my bees – my hundreds of bees. I’ve lived here for twenty-five years, incident free. Until last weekend.

It’s been over forty years since I’ve been stung by a bee and had a reaction (the doctor said it was a very good thing it had been so long. Or else…) Now, technically the bee didn’t sting me. As far as we can gather, it most likely brushed up against my coat and dropped its stinger on it. About an hour later I brushed my arm against my jacket when I was at the shops. Yowsers! The pain!

Two staff members came to my aide, not sure what had happened. I grabbed some antihistamines and a cold bottle of water from the shelf and limped home. There was a little trepidation when my lips tingled and my heart fluttered – was it a reaction or just anxiety? The doctor arrived and dosed me up with Prednisolone and strict instructions not to get stung in the near future.

Two days later I still had a lump on my arm (right) and all-over itchiness! Next month I’m off to the specialist to see if an epipen is in my future. I’m still having joint pains, headaches and exhaustion.

The second dredged up my worst fears – electronic failure. I was taking steps to avoid such a disaster and purchased a super-duper external hard drive to save all my writing, art and video work  – in case of a computer demise. On Tuesday I turned on my computer to try to get some writing done. … All my research files and some book files were nowhere to be seen – not on my laptop, not on the new external hard drive!

This time the heart palpitations were definitely an anxiety attack.  My Dearheart finally found them and we are now trying to recover them and confirm they are all intact. (It looks promising.) I did lose the pre-formatting I had done for the upcoming paperback, so that will all have to be reconstructed. And all the time, I’m trying to write two blog posts a week.

Now I am retracing my steps, with (hopefully) not more than three or so weeks writing time lost. I have now adjusted the publishing date for the final eBook and paperback, in the Viola Stewart series, to some time in November.

And those changes I mentioned? I’ve had to reassess my writing scheduling. It looks like the summer bronchitis (from dust allergies) will be a yearly thing. This was my third year. That means I will lose at least one month (it was almost three this year) of writing time. Right now I am struggling to stay awake. The doctors aren’t sure how long this will last. I need to add more ‘fudge’ time – time to recover from unexpected crises, panic attacks, allergic reactions, and computer betrayals.

I have so many stories that are fighting to get told. I need to focus on writing and publishing those stories. I’ve had a heart-to-heart with some fellow writers and have decided to cut back on blog posts and concentrate on writing stories.

What does this mean? Currently I write two blog posts a week: Photo Fridays and a weekly Sunday blog post. I’ll be cutting back to one Sunday blog post a month (there may be occasional bonuses depending on how I’m going) and I’ll post at least one Photo Friday a month. You can also subscribe to my monthly newsletter for updates, events and sneak peeks of upcoming stories. The time gained will be channeled into writing stories – both short and a new book – for you, Dear Reader.

Domesticity

Monday and Tuesday Colby and I were fairly active in chatting in various formats. I really appreciated it and felt a good connection with him. I made a point to thank him and tell him how I appreciated it. Reinforce good behavior, yo!

One of the things that we discussed was his car repair. Turns out he will need to go pick it up the day before my birthday, so he will be out of town and unable to do anything. He at least sounded disappointed by that. I did my best to be easy going about it, but it sucks. I joked that he could just bring me with, but that I felt it was a bad idea. I am not ready to meet his family yet.

Wednesday when I finished work I let him know and that I had specific errands to run. I hadn’t heard back when I finished so I called him, he was leaving work then and would call me after he was done with his own errand that he expected would be done in an hourish. So I went shopping to use bday coupons and scored great deals ($50 for 7 items.) I still hadn’t heard anything, and based upon his estimate I just headed toward his place.There was a nearby restaurant I wanted to try, so I went there and let him know. 

His errand ended up taking 2 hours longer than he expected, after I had been at the restaurant for 30 minutes he told me he wasn’t sure how much longer it would be. So I went shopping again for different things I needed. Cue more awesome deals scored. We chatted a bit during. I sent him pics of a dress I was unsure about. Poor guy didn’t know how to respond to asking if it was too tight across the hips. I told him I valued honest opinion and I swear it wasn’t a trap. lol (Which I totally heard in Admiral Ackbar’s voice. *ggl*) He apologized profusely and told me where his hidden key box was and the combination to get into it. 

It worked out that he got back to his place a bit before I arrived. We gave his dog a really good walk and chatted. He asked about dinner, and I forgot we still had left overs from the week prior in his fridge (that I forgot again when I left Thursday morning.) So he ordered delivery. While we were putting away clothes that were piled on his bed, his mom called with a technical issue. lol So I tried to busy myself downstairs while he helped her upstairs; my thought was to give him privacy of a sort. 

After eating he went to start cloning my old hard drive to my new one. As he got up from the table he said he would take care of his stuff and to not touch it. I joked that I was glad he said that, because I was worried I’d have to have a chat with him about gender stereotypes and how he had a tendency to leave “women’s work” to me. So I did leave it. :P 

He sat down next to me on the couch. He started to look at numbers and paperwork from his errand while I read next to him. I did my best to not look at things as it isn’t exactly my business and I wanted him to feel he could do things without my prying. However, he did invite me to look at things and we talked through the options he had to finance his next vehicle. I really enjoyed and relished how he valued my thoughts and insight. It was funny that we both ended up with agreeing on which was we felt was the best option for him. I also valued how we had frank discussions from savings, to retirement, to credit scores, to mortgage rates/balance. (Though how we got from car to retirement and mortgage I’m not certain. lol) I felt like we were a team, even though it was entirely on his shoulders.

We were both tired and finished with cleaning up and the hard drive after midnight. As he got ready he joked how my pillow was so solid (it is foam, he prefers down.) He made the odd joke that it would hurt if I hit him with it. I asked him in a light tone (although very concerned) why on earth he thought I would hit him at all, let alone with a pillow. He shrugged and glossed over it, so I let it drop. I suspect it is another leftover from his ex.

While we laid in bed, me cuddled up to him, and for once he didn’t have his arm around me (which of course set off warning bells in my head.) I had teased him through the day and evening a lot more than normal. How can a man not be turned on by a deliciously curvy woman in leopard print sexy bra and panty set? He admitted that the leopard print “wasn’t bad.” *eye roll* It was the first time he had seen me without a shirt on. So while cuddled up I tried to talk to him about our lack of a physical relationship. 

Mistake. That caused him distress and he shut down. He strangled out a cry of “my ex really fucked with my head, pun not intended.” And when I pushed, knowing his concern about performance, I stated that if it happened it wouldn’t matter. That it wouldn’t change how I feel about him, how that there were other options (mouth, hands, toys.), and how it didn’t mater because just cuddling or making out were fun. He really was upset then about how I didn’t understand and how it did matter. I reiterated how that didn’t define him, or how I feel about him, and that I care a lot. 

I was a bit taken aback by his reaction. He said bitterly about how he knew I cared a lot and had made it clear a few times. But he didn’t say that he cared back. At all, even in the slightest. I am sure it was because he was wrapped up in his own worries and also falling asleep. Once he was 99% asleep I rolled over (since I sleep on my side, the side that faces away from him) and tried to sleep myself. But the whole thing just kept running through my head. 

I gave up around 3am (not sure when he finally fell asleep) and went to do things online downstairs until I could fall asleep. I tried sleeping on the couch, as it was cooler (and I’m very sensitive to temperature when sleeping) but I just couldn’t. Around 5am I ended up heading back to bed and just laying there, my mind not stopping but trying to rest. His alarm went off earlier than normal (because he had to leave earlier than normal) around 6:15. 

Needless to say, with so little sleep I was quite cranky and bitchy. I did my best to just be quiet as much as possible that morning before we headed our separate ways for work. On our way to the cars after one last walk of his dog, I had asked him to consider at some point in the future having a standard day of the week as “our day” so we could always plan for and around it. He said he wasn’t sure that was possible, to which I reinforced I was just asking him to consider it and it didn’t have to be enacted immediately. He seemed somewhat surprised when I kissed him goodbye. We chatted a bit today, though less than the previous few days. I apologized for being quiet/cranky and let him know I had issues sleeping and recognized I was cranky and didn’t want to inflict that on him. 

I feel like the time is fast approaching for a “come to Jesus” or “state of the relationship” discussion so that I can be more clear and we can match up our expectations and needs better. I’m trying really hard to wait until after my bday and his car situation is resolved. I don’t want to add to his stress.The funny thing is that I don’t think he realizes all the emotions, thoughts, and scenarios I’ve had going on. 

That was one thing we discussed, briefly. When I stated exactly that to him (about not wanting to add to his many stressors) he acted surprised and asked why I would think that a possibility, since I was “anything but.” So that is something positive.
