Cole nodded just to confirm it, his grin growing wider. A surprise. Living as impulsively as he always had, Cole wasn’t much of a planner and ordinarily just tended to let the cards fall however they may. But this was a different side of the coin, the road less traveled sort of option that had Cole surprising even himself. Being with Taliah had brought out a lot that he’d never thought himself capable of, if he was being honest– like being romantic, as Emiri pointed out. That was new. “Not me,” he answered, head giving a brief shake, because if he was being honest, never in a million years would he have ever thought romance was in his repertoire. “She just brings it outta me, I reckon,” Cole supplied, his smile warming at the thought, shoulders lifting in a bit of a bashful shrug.
Resting his forearms against the counter, he leaned forward, getting comfortable while he spoke about the design and swore he could see the wheels of Emiri’s mind already turning. She seemed so confident that he’d get away with an idea as demonstrative as this one, and while Cole felt so secure in what he had with Taliah, it was that ever present, nagging voice in the back of his head that was just enough to leave him questioning himself. “Hope so,” he murmured, blowing out a breath, “Haven’t told her I love her yet– so, if she sees this and it all goes south, Imma need ya to hit me with that chair,” Cole chuckled, features twisting briefly before a playful smile broke through, “put me outta my misery quick, a’right?” He was joking, mostly, despite the way self-doubt had that wretched way of always finding an opening no matter how high he raised his defenses. Eyes trailing over the three different designs she’d sketched up, he found his heart settling on the one in the middle, “Really like that second one,” he mentioned, head nodding as his eyes seemed to light up with an excitement he hadn’t felt in…ever really– because when, in his entire life, had Cole ever made a declaration like this? Never. “A lot like what I had in my head.” In a lot of ways, it was like Emiri had taken exactly what he’d envisioned, but had just made it a hundred times better, adding her unique touch to it that made this even more special. Brows lifting at her question, Cole found himself mentally leaping at the suggestion. Writing the T in his own hand was a possibility he hadn’t considered, but found himself so drawn to just to add that personal touch to it. “Kinda like the idea of writin’ it m’self,” he admitted, catching his bottom lip between his teeth to fight off some lame, wide grin, “Always write it the same way on her birthday an' Christmas cards– she might notice it, I dunno,” Cole rambled aloud, his excitement growing, “Let’s go with that– my handwritin’s perty shit, but it's kinda hard to fuck up a T, right?”
"Yes..." she grinned, happiness just setting into her expressions and staying, "Yes." she speaks more affirmatively as she held her hands together. She felt this entire situation was far too cute and it was nice to know that two people that she thought needed true love in their lives, received it. She couldn't have been happier, not just for Taliah, but Cole too. Emiri thought the world of him, maybe not as much as her dad did, yet that same feeling was there. "Ohh a surprise?" her brow quirked, "Who knew you could be so romantic." she says more as a statement, calling it as it was: romance.
"Okay, okay..." she nods softly, choosing to stay a little silent while she listened to Cole talk, all while she tried to picture the design that he wanted. She figured her best bet was to do at least three rough sketches and the one that he liked, she'd pay more mind to it and even it all out before it was finalised. Her smile that had eased only widened again at that mention of wanting a T, all while her eyes just seemed to lighten even more with excitement. "You will." get away with it. "It's not lame and if she doesn't like it, she needs to be whacked with a chair." she chuckled, though she was being completely serious there. However, she knew Taliah would adore it. "She'll love it."
Putting pencil to paper she starts drawing up three different designs, different styled compasses - nothing fancy, clean as he had wanted. "If you don't like any of these ones I can do more, and obviously this is not final." she wanted to say, just so he knew whatever he chose would be bettered. Emiri liked perfection, after all. "With the T would you want me to do that, or would you want to write it yourself?" an idea he didn't have to go along with, but she thought to offer it out there while they were in the midst of creating what he wanted, knowing if he wanted that extra personal touch, she could copy his handwriting so it wouldn't be an issue.
