Wore my #thelunarchronicles t shirt for my psychology and neurology appointments on Friday. I found the rather lovely quote “broken isn’t the same as unfixable” during a really bad relapse a few years ago, and it’s been a comfort and a source of strength ever since. I have a necklace and a t shirt with it on. I often feel a bit broken, both physically and emotionally... but it’s important to remember that just because I’m broken, it doesn’t make me unfixable. Got two super important hospital appointments at Rookwood Hospital today; neurology and psychology. As usual, I’ve made a list of everything to discuss; this is especially important today, because my pain and meds are giving me serious brain fog! It’s absolutely typical that the first night this week I could’ve quite happily slept, and I had to get up at 6am! I am Not Impressed... my bladder better behave and let me get some sleep tonight! I had to get up at Stupid ‘o’ Clock because I’ve got a hospital appointment at Rookwood with my lead consultant and neurologist Jenny Thomas (or more likely her very capable register, Tav) at 12pm. Feeling a bit anxious, because I know we’re gonna have to have a serious discussion about the fact that the Hiprex, my so called “miracle drug” that’s meant to stop me getting kidney infections, is doing fuck all. I’ve currently got my 30th kidney infection in 29 months. I’ve had renal sepsis 8 times in the last 2 years (and if you know the survival rates of sepsis, you know I’m doing so well at beating the odds I should probably take up gambling!). If things continue as they are, I’m looking at treatments like dialysis or a urostomy... no, thanks! So I’m hoping they have some bright ideas 💡.
