Being labeled as a "pleasure to have in class" is the single most detrimental thing I was taught growing up to my success as an adult and a scientist.

To baby me: you have adhd and every time someone tells you off for being too much I want you to double down and be More Irritating. Stay that inquisitive and confident babes dont change yourself to make other people comfortable.

#like maybe dont teach kids that being low maintenance is the highest of virtues in academia #you cannot do science without other peoples help #networking is so hard for me because im so hard wired to not bother people #this whole vent post is inspired by my research project on miocene sedimentary charcoal #maybe ill post about it when im done
