I wish people would stop making fun of Katara talking about her dead mom like she has other flaws that can be pointed out and also why are we still going after girl characters for dumb shit?
and please don’t say “well Sokka never talks about their mom!” yes he does they both talk about their absent parents and are deeply affected by it because it’s traumatic!! these are kids experiencing some heavy deep trauma how Katara handles it is just one way
and we see different responses in different characters as well this just feels like fandom continuing to go after girl, especially feminine, characters for literally anything they do

it’s crazy how some of the characters in atla live for such a long time like Bumi is 112 and is still a powerful earth bender and Guru Pathik tells Aang he was a personal friend of Monk Gyatso who died 100 years ago
it also makes it more sad to me that Aang is only in his 60s when he dies because he could have had a longer life

how did I never notice that Chong pulls out a different string instrument from his bag after losing the one he’d been playing the whole episode

rewatching atla and amazed by how little everyone knows about bending and the other nations. like Sokka keeps calling bending “magic” even though they’re a very natural part of this world, but at the same time until like episode 3 he’s never left the South Pole where there are no benders.
this is just one example and I’m only one season 1 episode 6 but also Aang seems to know a lot about other nations, despite this knowledge being outdated. it’s something I’ve never noticed before and thought very interesting
