Rudraksha story of origin

What is Rudraksha? - Rudraksha comes from two words in sanskrit language. They are Rudra+aksha. The word rudra mean one of the name of god shiva(hindu-god) whereas aksha means tears drops. 

The beads which grow in rudraksha trees is known as rudraksha. There is one interesting story behind origin of rudraksha in hindu scripture. Whereas scripture such as purans also mention importance of rudraksha beads found in rudraksha trees. 

Once there was a demon name tripurasur who used to kill innocent people and sages. This demon went to heaven to win god indra (king of heaven). All heavenly god went to kailasha(home of shiva) to seek protection. Lord shiva became very angry with behaviour of demon and went to fight to kill him. God shiva fought for more than ten thousand years with this demon and finally win the war. Lord shiva return to his home kailasha after killing this demon. Lord shiva was feeling very tired by fighting for more than 10000 years. So he plans to do meditation by closing his eyes. when he close his eyes,some tears drops come from his eyes. Every place where tears of lord shiva fell produces a godly trees known as "Rudraksha trees". 

In this trees it grow bead or seed known as Rudraksha beads. For example,apple is produces from apple trees similarly rudraksha grow in rudraksha trees. This rudraksha beads is worn in neck as well as some devotees worship it with great faith in home or temples. Mostly,it is worn in neck as a pendent,as a bracelet in wrist etc. Rudraksha beads is supposed to bears magical properties. It posses positive energy. It is believed that lord shiva produces this beads for benefits of mankind.There are different types of rudraksha whose importance can be found in hindu scriptures like puran. These types of rudraksha is also known as faces of rudraksha. They are 1 to 14 face of rudraksha. The great scriptures like shiva puran mention upto 14 face rudraksha whereas nowadays upto 21 face rudraksha is found. But it is believed equally important to above 14 because it is produce in sacred rudraksha trees.

To find face of rudraksha. we have to count lines which is present in rudraksha beads. For example, 10 face rudraksha. The ten face rudraksha have total 10 countables lines present on it. 

It is believed that rudraksha also clean all sin.
