My boyfriends childhood favorite neopet is the eyrie and he has always felt robbed that there is almost no Eyrie merch. They never made plushies of one, not even the little mcdonalds ones, and a lot of the merch there is just uses Default Pose Eyrie.

Well i ordered the most questionable purchase ive ever made (listen i had a coupon!! Ihave bad reactions to coffee sometimes id like an alternative!!! ......i also really wanted the slushie cup 😭)

And incredibly it comes with BESPOKE eyrie art!!!!

personally, im feeling (Very Cautiously) optimistic about the neopets buyout? netdragon shut down jumpstart, so it would have died otherwise. i guess that’s better* than it just dying.

on crypto: i’m glad they seem to be dismantling/repurposing any work done on neopets metaverse. dominic law, the guy who bought neopets, was the head of neopets metaverse at neopets before he bought it out, hes like an investment guy as far as i can tell(?), and the pc gaming article about the buyout mentions he was talking about how neopets is perfect for web3 gaming on twitter within the past few months. obviously that’s a bad look. however, looking at his linkedin profile, his background doesnt seem super tech specific to me, and from what i can tell the metaverse/nft/crypto bubble is bursting anyways. with the announcement they’re shelving any nft projects for now, i’m hopeful they truly dont plan to pursue any more in the future.

i get the impression from the faq that they are genuinely interested in pumping money into the website itself, moreso than netdragon/jumpstart were. i’m not really against them developing more apps or w/e if they’re genuinely restoring the site and creating content for it as well.

i may eat my foot on this though, only time will tell

My account on Neopets is iluvmyunipa_2097. I've been on Neo almost exactly 20 years. I like customizing, entering in Beauty Contest, and writing stories for my pets.

i was thinkin about going back to neopets for nostalgia's sake.... my neopets ocs were the first i've ever made, and characters i still love and would love to write, if i had a reason to...!

i've played several neopets-like clones, but none of them have quite the same charm as neopets has, in the way that the internet just doesn't work like that anymore and it's so funny to see this monument to 2000s internet history very slowly being mismanaged into oblivion as the community who use it ignore its new features to continue playing the older parts of the site

To be fair the drama is half over Neopets elite shitting and farting over being slightly less insanely rich which has been a running theme for the past few months as items previously unavailable were released upon the common masses............and the other half is conspiracy theories over Neopets Pea Insider Collusion. You heard me.

But giving context for that debacle would be too long so heres this instead

Neopets discourse is always funny to me because whenever drama starts up 90% of the time it's over something that's just objectively really silly

For example, right now there's neo-billionaires threatening to quit the site over a rare item being released, which wouldn't be funny except the item in question is a tiny pea wearing a Santa hat

To add to my last post: anything thats like "WHAT HAPPENED TO NEOPETS" is a perilous tightrope.

Because depending on how you view it, nothing happened!!!! its still here even though YOU personally forgot about it, and still has an extremely dedicated fan base and it may be struggling a bit but its far from dead! Ive been there on and off this whole time!!!!
