how the world has changed around the cast with the existence of ghouls

ghoul stigma

- okay so. i dont think that ghouls can live purely off human food. it’s just impossible, bc otherwise they’d just be humans with kakuhous. ghouls can canonically last anywhere between a month or two without eating, but when theyre able to live off of human food, there’d just be no point.

- kusuo probably made it so that human food can stave off the hunger for up to twice as long, if consumed regularly (at least 2 big meals a day, 3 small ones, or 2 small ones and some snacks). raw meat tastes the most similar to human and does more than vegetables or sweets, so yakiniku places are probably pretty popular with the ghoul and human population like.

- human food tastes disgusting to ghouls, but i think kusuo made it so it’s at least tolerable. like a muted version of the food, rather than tasting like garbage or like actual human food.

- the stigma around ghouls is probably mostly gone, like if vampires were real. everyone was really scared way back when, but “haha no dont drain my blood aha ur so sexy” would probably win over. rapid desensitization so that ghouls are feared enough to not let people mess with them, but they’re nothing to call the ccg about

  - the ccg is still dead, so i,,, don’t know who they’d call instead. probably some ccg resurrectors who kusuo has to take care of (think newspaper club, but grown adults, and more of them).

  - i think in re some sort of “___ ___ commission” took over the spot of the ccg with a more sympathetic angle towards ghouls, but i say fuck that i didnt watch/read re so unless i want to do research into that they dont exist

- since ghouls in tg heal worse than humans in saiki k, i think that everyone heals the same (ghouls are harder to injure initially) unless it’s a serious situation like a fight. regular saiki k doesn’t have much non-gag violence in it, but if it did, it would be soo dramatic if someone got into a fight tokyo ghoul style.

cast

- makoto (human, forgot to mention him earlier) has probably had a few roles playing some tragic hero. kaneki, but with blue hair, yk? his breakthrough was probably him playing kaneki ngl. he and the rival guy (ruchi??) probably met on there idk

  - i really wanna remove the incest from his character bc hes got a lot of potential as “protective older brother with a secret identity as a movie star” but if kusuo couldn’t remove the incest when he found out about it, i,,, doubt he’d be able to remove it here either, yikes

- teruhashi has probably been attacked by ghouls before, but she’s never been hurt. either they stopped immediately, or they got beat down by the people around them.

- aiura has probably had some ghoul/human couple customers asking if they’ll be able to have a baby. aiura tells a lot of them to just adopt instead of going thru all that, bc the baby probably wouldnt be strong enough unless the human one ate human meat while pregnant

  - OH MY GOD IF ASUMI’S MOM IS THE HUMAN ONE THEN THAT EXPLAINS WHY HE WAS SO WEAK INITIALLY

  - if his dad was the human then asumi was probably depraved of nutrients bc the both of them assumed it would be better for the ghoul mother to cut back on human substitute while pregnant so as to not trick her body into digesting the baby, but it instead just meant that her body kept him alive as an emergency food source while he was slowly given less and less nutrients that went to keeping the mother healthy while she consumed food unfit for her.

    - there were occasional spikes but after the second or third time, her body started hoarding the nutrients for herself and gave the baby the bare minimum.

- anyways aiura probably expected her soulmate to be a ghoul of some sort. she probably had fantasies abt her s/o being a one eye and being so powerful and cool and blah blah blah

- aiura can see the aura of peoples’ kagune, if she looks closely. be default, she can’t bc auras are based more on personalities, but if she tries, she can. but she can tell if they’re ghouls at a single glance.

  - i just realized i never gave toritsuka or akechi their kagune lol??? akechi’s is probably an underdeveloped bikaku, toritsuka i’m thinking koukaku? hmm gotta debate on that one a bit more

- aiura probably looks into futures a lot and sees very graphic ghoul killings, so maybe she has nightmares abt that. (anyone else remember that post abt saiki toritsuka and aiura all having chronic fatigue w akechi watching over them when they have sleepovers? aiura sometimes wakes up from nightmares, i bet, but she’s all chill abt them yk.)

- not much changes with yumehara, bc her life is pretty normal. she definitely writes ghoul x human fanfic tho.

- mera has won a fight against a ghoul over food. no, this is not negotiable.

- hairo is human, but has ghoul capabilities as ive said before. he doesn’t see anyone as inherently better than anyone (like how he doesn’t offu at teruhashi, but simps for nendou), so i don’t think he’s been affected much either. ghouls don’t really affect him unless theyre hurting someone, same as humans.

- ive already said how aren’s life has changed, so i think all i’ll add is that when he’s acting all tough in the beginning of his introductions, he subconsciously activates his kakugan when he’s facing down a human.

  - actually.... no, i dont think he reveals that he’s a ghoul (if at all) until he fights saiko’s bodyguards.

- kaidou is absolutely lost in his fantasy of being a quinx with one-eye capabilities that can survive just fine on human food. no need to eat humans, when he’s got what he needs to survive without hurting people.

  - hes,,, such an op mary sue self insert and i love him for that

  - ngl if i ever turn this into a fic kaidou is getting so much screentime to talk about his irl fanfic

  - i hate to say it but he might be the type to write with colons and first person, which i suppose are tolerable enough alone, but he does them together

  - thats why he sticks with drawing.

- kaidou’s mom doesn’t care or doesn’t know about his jet black wing ghoul fantasies. i dont remember his siblings names but the little one definitely says hes a ghoul in that one episode where kaidou lied about controlling trump

  - the smart sibling that almost killed them when she was studying has definitely gone through her fair share of ‘lets beat up shun’ sessions bc he was rping fight scenes in his room and was too loud

  - oh duh he thinks hes a chimera with an ukaku (i cant remember what i gave him otherwise i think it was a rinkaku) but mans definitely thinks hes a chimera. i dont have to explain what a chimera is right, thats a normal word, use your inference skills

- suzumiya’s been attacked so many times, but her bad luck rubs off on the ghouls and they always end up injured as well.

- satou’s friends with a ghoul who is only revealed if satou were to become a ghoul. satou becomes kaneki and the friend becomes touka (who is very “get tf over yourself and eat someone you coward”)

- as i said before, saiko has ghoul body guards. his dad probably made money off the ccg. the saiko family has some quinque of their own to show off, though none of them how to wield any of them. very “rich man with swords on his mantle, but has never fenced a day in his life”. he might want to learn at some point, like with basketball.

- nendou hasn’t changed. he’s nendou.

- rifuta has definitely had some ghoul x human fantasies after she unlocks her crush on teruhashi

saiki k tokyo ghoul au bc of that one post comparing nishiki and kuniharu by @herdecisions (i havent read tg in years idc if i get anything wrong)

- possibility of kuniharu and nishiki being the same person OR twin brothers

- if theyre the same person kurumi is the gf whatever her name was, if theyre not then theyre not (idc if she died canonically she can be alive if i wantbyer to be)

- kuniharu is a ghoul and kurumi is human but threatening as fuck (kuniharu is either a weak bitch ghoul or hes soft for her)

- kuusuke was born a one eye. saiki was too but that pales in comparison to the fact that hes still psychic (dont ask why hes psychic its saiki ofc hes psychic)

- the govnt baby kusuo destroyed was the ccg, but he mightve given his family a different last name before that as witness protection, or after to avoid the govnt coming after them

- the grandparents are human bc theyre on kurumis side, know but dont care abt kuniharu being a ghoul (well grandpa does but he doesnt like kuniharu anyways)

- kusuo probably ended the stigma around ghouls and developed safe alternatives for them to eat OR he made it so ghouls can just eat normal food

- angstier idea is that he didnt and his familys still in hiding, but tbh anything to make his life easier yk

the saiki k cast is all just so sad like seriously they have so many issues it isnt funny aiura has probably tried to warn people about their deaths so many times and it just doesnt work kusuke feels probably completely worthless when compared to his brother and moved away at 16 kusou has seen the absolute worst in humanity and probably feels like garbage because he didnt do anything teruhashi needs to get into therapy so bad it isnt funny nendou is hated just because of the way he looks even though hes one of the sweetest people out there aren has been beating people up since elementary and based on his nickname has killed someone and likely struggles with the guilt of that kaidou has a very overbearing mother thats trying to push him in a direction he doesnt want to go mera works like 5 separate jobs just to provide for her family saiko most likely doesnt know how to properly convey emotions since all he cared about til the show was money chiyo feels she has to have a boyfriend and when she does get one he fucking sucks akechi used to be beat up by bullies if hairo gets burn out hes just going to explode since all he does is help people and without that hed probably feel useless and toritsuka didnt know his grandparents were dead til he tried to hug them the entirety of this mangas cast needs therapy and if it wasnt for each other they probably couldnt cope (anyways im very normal about this show)

Some personal saiki headcanons !!! (Mostly stim related ! )

saiki stims . Its very minutely , but i believe his stims center mostly around his hands cus yk most of his powers come from his hands, but its also bc of that his powers come from his hands that he tries Not to stim in fear that it might accidentally active a power

I think, like kusuke , his fingers do a sort of drumming and tapping but unlike kuusuke he keeps his hands down and mostly out of sight !

he's suuper embarrassed by it, so maybe he uses a mild hypnosis on himself so it appears like his hands are prim and perfect and straight Or: his fingers drum too fast that they are perceived normal when rlly theyre just too fast to notice that theyre going too fast yk ?

I like to think that for times when he reaches his limits or his emotions are getting the best of him, he pretends to sleep and astral projects so he can safely stim Bigger . Just saiki stimming !!

I think he probably most definitely does it more around nendou . Yes this correlates with my ramble where him and nendou are like destined besties I DONT CARE THEY ARE SILLY !! He probably puts in less effort to cover up his finger drumming and maybe even gives his legs little wiggles and overly straightens his clothes too often (both from paranoia of look unkempt and a need for stimulation)

Nendou DEFinitely notices, bc hes perceptive but clueless , and he definitely gives saiki some stim toys . Some are more yk loud and attract attention, but others are more subtle for his fingers to fiddle with and get more sensory . Saiki prefers to stick with the smaller ones but in sillier moments he uses the eye catching ones (he always makes sure hes alone . Most of the time hes in the bathroom (bc yk paranoia of cameras in his room and stuff bc kusuke <3) )

Nendou also definitely unintentionally helps saiki stim !! Nendou does "partner stims" with saiki, which include grabbing his hands and moving them around or grabbing saiki and pulling him into a bone crushing hug (saiki doesnt reciprocate it at all but it doesnt stop nendo . saiki appreciates the added weight, even if it just feels like a bag of oranges on his body), fiddling with his fingers or poking st saikis face and shoulders , and just generally bothering him . Saiki doesnt bother to stop it, not only because nendo is impossibly stubborn but also bc he gets the stimulation he needs without having everyone looking at Him and instead looking st Nendou and thinking "why is this guy doing all that for ??"

Eventually, his friends catch on and stsrt doing it as well!! Maybe its a little miscommunication because yk saiki never talks and nendou is an idiot, so some think its stimming(peobably psykickers and whoever akechi rambles to) while others believe its saiki accepting more touch (everyone else)

Kaidou starts with fiddling with one or two of saikis fingers, and when hes in JBW mode he squeezes saikis shoulder but typically keeps his hands off him because hes worried the black best power in his arm might hurt saiki . Or something

Hairo tries to get saiki into more critical thinking games or more physical activities, he doesn't necessarily touch him other than his usual go to (hand on shoulder) but he believes saiki has energy thst needs an output . Saiki reluctantly obliges .

Teruhashi seems like the type to become more touchy with saiki, but she is actually the one who recognizes that its a more stim behavior . Shes the most perfect pretty girl, she Has to know why her classmate is more accepting of stimulating motions lately !! In the end, nothing really changes, but she does recognize that her horde of fans and the noise they bring bother saiki, so she tries to keep them away as much as possible when she goes up to him

Aren starts roughousing with him, bc he Also has a lot of energy that needs an output . Saiki doesnt mind, he could easily overpower him, so he tries his best to be gentle with him . And Try he does LMAO but that just makes Kubo' more riled up until theyre both limp on the ground. Saiki hasnt broken a sweat . His face is towards the ground though, legs tangled with Kubo's whose face is also facing the ground and panting and exhausted . Theyre both smiling idiots .

Saiko brings him shiny stuff , stuff visually appealing to the eye that is easy to mess around with to look at . Chiyo brings in snacks for him to try that are similar to coffee jelly, trying to get him to "branch out" of his safe food . Mera, at the cafe, makes sure hes more secluded so he feels safe to stim more in public places .

The psikickers treat him normally ! Akechi goes on his long rambles, sometimes choosing to do topics relating to saikis stimming, toritsuka is still a perv but makes sure no ghosts are harmed when saiki astral peojects (they never are, he just likes making sure that the ghosts he gets info from are still okay), and aiura still calls him babe and looks at the future . They are the same compared to everyone else adjusting to saikis needs of stimulation, and that provides saiki comfort and even helps him when he gets overwhelmed with everyones change .

(He never admits it, but the adjustment in his friends truly does loosen him up and lower his gaurd . Not as good as an electric shock i bet, but infinitely better than calling kusuke to have him shock saiki . )

Finally moving away from stimming !! My bad i wasnt expecting my brain to run away from me :D

Saiki definitely has a couple beauty marks . Due to his mind control making him appear normal nobody notices for a Hot Minute, but the moment his gaurd goes Slightly lower, there they are . Theres one near his lip and his cheek , and probably 2 on his neck.

Beauty marks are SO pretty he deserves it

I think he also deserves a bit of pudge too, just a softness to his arms belly and thigh area . Especially after the volcano, when he no longer has to train so much to stop it and with all the coffee jelly he ests on a regular

Saiki is a Very avid listener when it comes to his friends . This is technically canon, considering the whole dark reunion thing with kaido and saiki following the storyline, but still ! Sometimes they find it a little freaky that he remembers conversations from a yesr or two prior from when they were letting their mouth run out of boredom and saiki at the time seemed a little annoyed but not walking away, but overall find it endearing . Its just saiki being a tsundere as usual <3

(Its mainly cause his friends stories and useless rambling are better to focus his telepathy on rather than the gajillion other voices in his 200m radius. He doesnt really want to listen to then, but sometimes everyone else is So annoying and if Kaidou starts rambling to him about the dark reunion rules or where they are in the storyline , then he will gladly listen to him intently and try to block out everyone not important) (and if that helps him choose gifts, then so be it)

Saiki hates spending the night at other peoples houses !! He tries to avoid it as much as possible, because sleeping in an unfamiliar neighborhood and unfamiliar voices in his head, is not as comforting as one thinks . He would rather be wary of cameras he Knows are there, than be wary of cameras he Doesnt know are there . If there are any . He cant risk it !!

okay like. you are right. but i disagree that its the great tragedy of saiki k. because the entire show is ABOUT how saikis friends a) love him even without knowing much about him, and b) very much would love and accept the real him

because like. saikis quiet and unassuming facade is meant to both go unnoticed AND to drive people away. he doesnt WANT friends. and in the beginning, people like kaidou and teruhashi are just looking for connection with ANYONE- and saiki is such a blank slate they can just project what theyre looking for onto him without saiki ever reciprocating. like when we first learn that kaidou pretends that saiki also has powers? saikis kinda just like [whatever, he can play his game of pretend, im not involved in it]. this is why saiki says so often in the early chapters that they arent even really friends- because they arent. kaidou and teruhashi and yumehara and hairo each have a made up image of saiki in their heads that they one-sidedly interact with (i believe nendou is an exception to this. but we never really get into his head to know for sure). and the only part of that that saiki has a problem with is that he keeps getting dragged into things. he would rather they not interact with him at all.

but by the end of the show its clear that saikis friends DO know him. they at least know the version of him that he shows them. they know hes unfriendly and doesnt talk much and doesnt show much emotion. but they still like being around him and wanna hang out together, and it BAFFLES him! saiki is trying his hardest to be completely uninteresting and unlikeable and unbefriendable. hes perfectly happy to just continue the dynamic of one-sided delusion, where they dont really know him and are only attached to the idealized version of him in their heads. but they were concerned by his out of character behaviour at the wrong-birthday and when toritsuka was disguised as him. teruhashi wished he was there at the mixer. they know that hes closed off and reserved and theyre FINE with it.

and it all comes to a head during the finale, when saiki gets caught using his powers and tells his friends that he cant explain. and nendou says it doesnt matter, because theyre still friends no matter how much saiki is hiding from them. and even though saiki has seen over and over again that his friends wont be driven away by his antisocial tendencies, that they genuinely like spending time with him even if he doesnt participate, and even that they wont turn him away when they learn about his powers, it STILL doesnt really sink in. because saiki has spent his whole life resenting his own powers and thinking no one will ever accept him for who he is! that hes too different from normal people and only people who are Like Him could possibly understand. unlearning that doesnt happen overnight.

and yeah, by the end of the show, saiki still hasnt had the chance to properly confess to his friends. but it ends with him fully embracing his own powers BECAUSE of his friends! they are very explicitly the catalyst to him deciding to take care of the meteor in the final scene. saikis powers are no longer a burden to him because he knows his friends will accept him. thats the emotional arc of the show!! yeah, we dont get to see the scene where he finally opens up to them, but personally i dont think we need to see it for it to be a satisying conclusion to his arc

so i can definitely see why you might find it sad- i mean, it takes him the WHOLE SHOW to work up the courage to open up, and we dont even get to see it! so its totally understandable. but personally i dont really find it tragic? and its probably because growing up undiagnosed autistic is just kinda Like That- thinking that normal people will never accept you just kinda becomes the background noise of your life, and you learn not to open up to people. and yeah, objectively its pretty sad, i wont argue that, but i think the fact that saiki grows past that mindset and finds people who do authentically love him, even if they will never truly understand him, is distinctly Not Tragic. he learns how to accept himself through his friends!! he gets a happy ending!! and i just really love that. have i mentioned that this is like my favourite show ever

[its definitely also a shame that we dont get to see saiki interact with, say, teruhashi the same way he interacts with the psychickers. but thats what fanfic is for!]

anyway! obviously not invalidating anything you said, because you are very much correct. i just kinda see it through a different lense and thought i would share :)

How Saiki wants to be perceived:

How Saiki's friends perceive him at first:

Projection Central... Depending on the person, he's a scaredy-cat, romance novel protagonist, former punk, flustered fanboy, a slacker who just needs some inspiration to become a sports star, etc...

How Saiki's friends perceive him at the end of the series:

Quiet, a little glum, kinda boring, but a good guy. Says "good grief" a lot.

How the Psychickers perceive him:

Sarcastic, stubborn, tsundere, a little childish, back-talker supreme, confident, a bit arrogant even, incredibly intelligent, lonely, silly, uptight, a soft touch, kind.

How Saiki ACTUALLY IS:

Sarcastic, stubborn, tsundere, a little childish, back-talker supreme, confident, a bit arrogant even, incredibly intelligent, lonely, silly, uptight, a soft touch, kind.

-> Only the Psychickers (and to some extent, his family) know and appreciate Saiki for who he actually is by the end of the series.

That's because Saiki is only ever comfortable revealing his true personality once the other person knows about his powers.

Until then, he will always try pretending to be a passive nobody, unless he thinks it can get a girl off his back (ex. against Teruhashi at the arcade, against Imu in the locker room).

Saiki remains nervous about telling his friends about his powers despite seeing it go off without a hitch in the alternate universe, and despite losing his powers first, because his friends might not like his "new"/actual personality.

We see early on in Kuboyasu's introduction that Saiki fears his relationships with his friends are fake because they're based on a huge lie and an even bigger pretense. We see that anxiety about his personality/persona not being palatable enough at the wrong-day birthday party. We see him mourn the fact that he can't be his real self at the mixer.

THAT is the great tragedy of Saiki K, that almost none of the people he loves actually know him in any meaningful way, not even by the end of the series!

saiki k headcanons lets go (eventually saiteru only, but for now it’s every character and is just)

1. nendou didn’t really care at all when saiki told the friend group about the whole psychic thing. nendou was just like “oh okay :] wanna get ramen” while everyone else was in shocked silence.

2. aiura and teruhashi didn’t like eachother, but one time chiyo invited both of them to her house and they clicked. aiura painted her nails (teruhashi s), and treated her like a normal person. made crude jokes around her and everything. teruhashi was drawn to her and now they’re best friends.

3. the first person in the friend group teruhashi turned her perfect mask off for was kuboyasu. she just figured he’s so chill that he couldn’t care.

4. saikis love language is quality time, believe it or not. but not quality time where they do 473847 things, quality time where they just sit in the same room together. maybe across a table doing homework , maybe going to a small little restaurant and eating while having eachothers hands on top of eachother on the table. he loves it (he wouldn’t admit it tho)

5. saiki knows what everyone wants (ofc since he can read thoughts), and he always like will fulfill their needs. he won’t admit that he likes helping them. (ex: __ is thirsty. out of nowhere they see a waterbottle in their backpack. saiki makes them think it’s always been there so that he doesn’t seem like a good person (shiver me timber’s)!

6. nendou is good at comforting people. not in a “it’s gonna be okay bb” way, but in a “i’ll distract you” if he sees someones sad, he goes up to them and is like yo buddy wanna get some ramen?

7. the reason teruhashi always calls herself the perfect pretty girl in her head is bcuz she doesn’t rlly believe it herself.

8. saikis really good at birthday presents, but he doesnt care for them unless he cares for the person. (he pretends to not care for his friends and get them shitty presents when its rlly exactly what they wanted) (did that make sense)

9. kaidou is the type of guy to give the person he likes one of his dark reunion things (ex: he gives arent his little arm bandages and gives him a tutorial on how to kill the dark reunion)

10. (add on to #3) kuboyasu hangs out with teruhashi a lot. idk i like to believe they’re best friends.

11. teruhashi took a liking to nendou bcuz hes nice and he repels people so she can just take a break around him.

12. yumehara and aiura date i don’t make the rules ...

13. hairo is actually fun to hang out with. he’s a very loyal and determined guy lol

oky saiteru now loool (so saiteru antis stop reading here)

1. they make food together. like saiki will make cake and coffee jelly and teruhashi will make the actual meal. saiki insists he doesn’t need an actual meal since his metabolism, but teruhashi says it’s bs and makes him eat his greens. he gets angry but obviously loves it anyways.

2. they end up going to the same college and obviously since god is in teruhashis side , they dorm right next to eachother. it’s become a routine (since saiki and teruhashi both have morning classes) for teruhashi to just give him a coffee in the stairs when they’re going down in the morning. also for them to go down the stairs together. teruhashi doesnt know how the hell saiki always manages to be there but shes not complaining. in reality it’s because saiki (he won’t say this outloud but) reads her mind to see right when she’s gonna leave.

3. teruhashi finds saikis teleporting the absolute coolest thing ever, so saiki always takes her on dates across the world.

4. saikis insists that using his powers to do things teruhashi wants is “100% necessary” and that if he didnt do it the gods would come for him

5. when saiki told the crew about his powers teruhashi fainted into his arms, woke up in his arms, realized she was in his arms, fainted again, and then apologized for fainting twice. then saiki said its okay and turned his lips up the tiniest bit into what could maybe be a smile and she fainted once again. 

6. when saiki lets teruhashi use his first name she passes out. also the first time he says kokomi instead of teruhashi she passes out.

7. teruhashi helps saiki embrace his powers.

8. teruhashi and saiki rlly are invincible together.

9. sometimes for shits and giggles saiki will scare the shit out of teruhashi by just talking in her brain whenever she’s thinking cute things (or things in general) about saiki.

10. teruhashi always talks to saiki in class through her brain. he ignores her like 99% of the time. ex: “saiki this class is so borinnnggg” in the brain and then outwardly she’s like glowing and smiling and saiki finds it the funniest thing.

rip to amp, but another animal makes an appearance in saiki's life. the only shocking difference compared to the rest of the animals is that this one has psychic powers! he takes it upon himself to watch this little beast to make sure it doesnt cause any trouble. you can chose type of animal, what powers it has, if saiki can read its mind, etc ^_^

It was truly annoying to have a peaceful weekend disturbed.

Kusuo had finally found a moment of peace after being harassed all week by his classmates, hounding him to go out for ramen or to hang out at their houses.

That wasn’t even including the many times during school itself where a lunch period or break was ruined because Kaidou just happenedto need help with his homework, or Nendou just happenedto find a cool rock in the courtyard.

But finally Kusuo had been able to sit down on his bedwith a nice book, a cup of coffee jelly freshly taken from the fridge to eat, and his parent’s wereout on some lunch date– unable to bother him orlet his classmates know he was home.Just when he was about to slip on his germanium, telepathy canceling ring to enjoy blissful silence for the first time this week, though, the thoughts of that horrendously annoying stray cat flooded his mind.

Amp, nowadays, generally stuck to only bothering Kusuo’s father, and not the teen himself. It was just a pity his dad wasn’t home to take care of this – as Amp’s screaming thoughts of panic were not the only giveaway that he was in distress, since Kusuo was starting to hear high pitched yowls flooding through even his closed window.

He sighed and slammed his book shut, setting it considerably more gently on his bed.

He would count to ten. Maybe, by then, the idiot cat will have died.

Not that he wanted Amp to die, but he was currently too grouchy to prevent it from his current location.

As he mentally reached five, he sighed again, harder this time, and bitterly slid off his bed and stood.

The mental cries of ‘It’s going to rip my pelt off!!’ were getting too irritating to hear anymore. He’d take care of the other cat or dog that was trying to eat Amp and return to his formerly peaceful, relaxing,and delightful afternoon. Amp better be ready to give him some favors in return.

After a quick check with clairvoyance to make sure nobody was outside to witness him, Kusuo teleported to his house’s front gate, not taking long to locate the yowling nuisance.

The tabby-tom cat was crouched against the garden wall of Kusuo’s neighbor, hissing at air as his head whipped frantically from side to side. Kusuo teleported himself directly in front of Amp next, enjoying the way the cat jumped and puffed up in sudden fright.

The feline’s eyes refocused on him, and his thoughts immediately switched from incoherent panic to speaking to Kusuo.

‘You! Cat human! Help me!’

‘Cat human’ was the term dubbed to him after he interacted with Amp one too many times in his cat form, allowing the idiot to figure out it was him. He didn’t actually know if Amp knew his name or not, now that he was thinking about it.

Regardless, he quirked his eyebrow from where he stood towering over Amp, indicating he needed more information than that.

‘I am being attacked! Get rid of it!’

Again, that wasn’t the most helpful considering there wasn’t a single other person or animal in sight. Yet another sigh left his mouth.

Amp’s head continued frantically whipping around, and the cat realized whatever was attacking him was no longer present…if it ever had been to begin with.

‘No no no! It was right here! You have to believe me!’

His thoughts were getting annoyingly frantic again, and Kusuo took the time to actually look around himself, in case this “attacker” was hiding somewhere Amp couldn’t see. Once again, however, not a single soul in the vicinity.

“There’s nothing here. Why are you so worked up?” He finally projected directly into the cat’s mind, making sure annoyance coated every mental word.

‘It was right here! You seriously have to believe me! It just vanished! Right as you were coming to solve the purroblem!’

Somehow a pun had worked its way into Amp’s millionth plea for help, ruining any desperation that might’ve nearly convinced Kusuo’s stone cold heart.

But, either way, this must just be someway to gain Kusuo’s admiration…even if he couldn’t figure out how Amp being desperate and groveling for help would benefit that plan.

Just as he was considering whether to leave and throw Amp into the sun while he did so, or just to leave and ignore the feline all-together, a suffocating presence made itself known abruptly.

It was like nothing he’d ever felt before, with it feeling what a brick being shoved into the back of his head must feel like for a normal person. The air itself grew heavy. Was this how Aiura felt people’s aura’s? If so, he actually had to offer some condolences. This was awful, even just for the five seconds Kusuo had experienced it.

His senses burning and Amp moved to the least pressing priority, he took the time to make a fool of himself and whip his own head in search of something.

Nothing at all like before, but he swore there was a pair of eyes looking at him from a nearby tree, actually seeming to maybe almost be getting bigger in size-

-And then something slammed into his face.

It was gone as quickly as it had originally appeared, Kusuo’s vision returning and a tinge of something unknown and mildly uncomfortable on his cheek, and Amp was back to yowling.

The stray cat was laying against the sidewalk, thrashing and screeching as he was pinned by the weight of…a barn owl?

If Kusuo wanted to be specific, it appeared to be a Japanese scops owl, but that only added to the confusion he was now feeling.

An owl pinning down a cat might not be the most unusual considering how good of predators they were, but this particular owl wasn’t even half a meter tall, and likely weighed under a kilogram, less than a fifth the weight of Amp. In normal people terms, this pigeon sized owl should not be able to hold an angry, squirming cat down, or hit Kusuo’s face with such a force that it surprised him.

But it was, quirking its head from side to side as minor scratches leaking droplets of blood were scratched into Amp’s back, due to its tiny talons flexing back and forth.

‘Ha! Stupid stupid cat. That’s what you get. I worked so hard on that nest.’

Ah, now that he was tuned into the tiny bird’s thoughts, it was hardly a surprise that Amp had instigated this.

Still, he didn’t fancy explaining to his pitiful excuse of a father why Amp was no longer showing up for food, and so he gently lifted the owl off of Amp with his telekinesis, his most recent sigh as its thoughts joined the chorus of mental yelling staying restricted to his own mind.

‘Unhand me! Unhand me! I am not a prisoner! I will eat you too!’

How had this owl been planning on eating Amp to begin with, let alone Kusuo, considering its stature? Well, it didn’t matter too much. All animals were prideful and angry like that at times. It didn’t seem too surprised by Kusuo lifting it up without physical contact, actually, but he was just thankful that wasn’t being added to its internal complaints.

‘Ha! I have injured you already, human! Maybe if I convince him I’m hurt, he’ll let me go inside his home, and I can finishhim off there!’

What a convoluted plan to…what, eat a human that was a hundred times bigger than itself?

And, injured? It had hit Kusuo impressively hard, sure, but his skin was too strong to be effected by physical injuries, especially if they came from tiny birds and not, as a hypothetical example, giant energy powered tanks.

Amp finally got the memo and darted away without even a single mental thought directed at Kusuo, and the owl went limp in his telekinetic grasp, curling in on itself midair.

Ah, yes. Absolutely convincing. What a pitiful sight. It made him want to weep.

To truly show his sympathy, Kusuo decided to release his telekinesis, and the owl let out a shriek as it fell straight towards the ground, up-righting itself immediately after. He crouched down to his knees in front of it, about to project his telepathy in order to speak to it. Just before he could, however, he felt something dribble over his lip.

How in the world was he sweating? Sure, it was the middle of summer, but he had too much control over his bodily functions for something as disgusting as sweat to happen.

He wiped a hand across his mouth while simultaneously grabbing the little owl with his powers when it tried to flee.

Bright and visible in front of him was a streak of red on the side of his hand. It was tiny, and probably would have only come from a paper cut on a normal person, but he wasn’t a normal person. He did not bleed. He alsodid not have cuts randomly appear on his skin for no reason.

Wait…

Pressing a finger against his cheek, a minuscule sting was his response right where the little bird’s talons could’ve nicked him when it had flown into his face. The tiny, smaller than a pigeon, owl.

The sensation of knowing there was blood on his face was beginning to make his skin crawl, so he stood back up and floated the owl alongside him back into his house, the little creature still flailing uselessly and using up what little movement and energy his powers allowed it to use in his grasp.

Reaching the bathroom and turning on the sink, there was, indeed, a minuscule scratch on his face, a faint trail of dried blood flowing out of it. If a normal person had been hit in the face by a bird this size, this is the type of injury that likely would have appeared.

But that was exactly the problem.

He splashed the cut with water, watching the tiny bits of blood fade away. Was he supposed to do more for the wound? It wasn’t as if Kusuo had experience with this scenario. It was so tiny, though, that it would probably be just fine as is.

He finally set down the owl on the counter, who’d given up and was laying midair in his grasp, even its mind fallen quiet, and dried his face with a quick blast of pyrokinesis.

“Hey, bird,” Kusuo projected into the animal’s brain, watching as it popped right up in surprise, feathers fluffing up.

‘Human! Who! Who are you to imprison me as such!’It closed its eyes and lifted its beak to the ceiling in what Kusuo guessed was an impression of a sneer.

“Did that orange cat destroy your nest?” He questioned immediately, not willing to let the bird-brain derail the conversation into nonsense.

‘Yes, he did! The evil beast woke me up in the middle of the night and jumped on me, shredding it. I’ve bravely chased him since! You’re going to eat him for me now, right?’

He wasn’t surprised that yes, Amp had totally instigated the situation. The owl was perfectly justified, having its home destroyed, and likely nearly on the other end the eating each other scale. Kusuo almost felt pity for the tiny ferocious beast.

There was something weird about the way it’s thoughts reached him, actually,thinking on it. Less like they passed by and floated into his head for him to hear, and more like they were being forced into his head. It was reminiscent of what he imagined other people unaffected by his mind control felt when he spoke.

Tying that train of thought together with the way the owl had seemingly appeared out of thin air earlier, it was forming a strange theory in Kusuo’s mind. It shouldn’t be possible…but, well, if two random kids in his same age range could also have psychic abilities, then who was he to say an animal couldn’t? Humans were technically animals anyways.

‘You! Who thinks too much! If you won’t give me revenge, then I command you to let me stay here! It will rain soon and I have no home!’

He gave a mental snort at its boldness, and silently opened the bathroom door. The bird glanced at him curiously, before ignoring him and immediately darting out and into the living room.

Now, for a mental count…It seemed likely the bird possessed teleportation, telepathy based on it remarking he thought too much, and maybe some form of precognition. Any of those could be disastrous for an animal driven by instincts to possess, not even considering it may have more, seeing as it had managed to pierce Kusuo’s skin.

Kusuo stepped out of the bathroom himself, sending a quick note to the bird to do its business in the white bowl in the bathroom and not anywhere else, and watched as it pecked at the couch cushions.

Keeping the owl here for now would be beneficial in making sure any abilities it possessed were controlled, and not because he felt pity on it loosing its home.

Purely beneficial for the world.

He was nodding to himself when his dad began to unlock the door, his mind having been too distracted to notice him coming home from work.

It was also too distracted to warn his dad of the curious owl that had begun to hover in front of the front door when it burst open. And to protect his dad from its shocked claw swipe to his face.

Yeah. Kusuo would keep it under his own watch for now.

which part was it, was it the long rants about characters with super powers or my intolerance for horror movies 😭😭 honored though. "mr transmasc swag" with his baller fashion sense.

i think hes very neat being one of the first friends saiki makes. its honestly pretty surprising saiki didnt find him more annoying since kaido's idolizing having powers 24/7. shun undeniably has charm and pressed all the right buttons.

i also super love the duality between being a scardey-cat and having courage when it comes to people he cares about.

however it does make it interesting how he used to view people with secrets. i dont think he was shallow before, but it was just that he didnt really think about the reason why people would have secrets in the first place. he already came to terms with aren's past and decided to be friends with him after that. in the volcano future when saiki messes up and gets discovered, it did take him a bit before nendou shut him up, but he recovered quickly after that. i dont think he'd be that quick to reconsider if he didnt have a similar experience with aren so that also shows growth.

overall a nice dude that gives both older and younger sibling vibes somehow. also i think he wears clip on earrings so his mom doesnt get mad if he asks for piercings.

First, i want to apologize in advance for bad grammar and long paragraphs . I am not a writer, but instead a rambler at heart <3 some of this is just me straight up screaming LMAO

ALSO SPOILERS FOR THE EXTRA STORY OF PSYCHICS 1 N 2

I will not really be talking about the anime , since the anime covers most of the manga but is really quick and cuts some scenes (that i honestly thought were the funniest but it may be that i havent seen em before thst makes it funny) so i will peimarily be using the manga and novels (Extra Story of Psychics 1 and 2) as references .

Its in total agreement that saiki is a toootal tsundere, or at least i prefer kuudere for him (tsunderes are often aggressive or soft and generally alternating, whereas kuuderes are cynical and appear emotionless but of course have a soft side . Its just behavior difference but still makes a difference jn my heart <3) and of course what with it being confirmed By him in the manga its like Duh. But we dont necessarily see his soft side ? Bc of course we know his 'soft side' is generally sheep herding his friends and caring for their well being, but he doesnt explicitly like ,, say it . And im not counting what he said at the volcano and also i sort of rely on words so having a BOOK of words that i can grab at and string along to my brain is SO good for me honestly dude i love the books so unibelievebly much

Of course, like in any good saiki media the first chapters are generally getting caught up in his friends shenanigans. I was so delighted to note that it was all in perspective of saiki himself ! The first pov!! I usually dont like the first perspective , but in novels its more expected and also its saiki! (Im insane) anyways , we cant really rely on saiki as an output of his emotions to the reader bc hes an unreliable narrator, he doesn't necessarily speak out his emotions or show them that much .

Anyways, besties being besties !! Saiki quite literally follows his friends around . Everywhere . It still amuses me that even though he can just Teleport away when theyre not looking and they wouldnt find it super suspicious (hes done it before in the manga im like 80% sure) he still hangs out with them and now , in the last chapter of the first novel, we know why !! He usually says its an obligation or a social thing in a typical tsundere fashion , but in the last chapter he feels . Sad . THAT SHIT CAUGHT ME SO OFF GAURD . In this chapter , he stays home due to a premonition of his house being on fire . He takes a nap and wakes up to see kaidou and nendou hanging in his room, saying that Saikis mom let them in while she went out . They ask if hes sick and then go cook ramen for him , and he uses clairvoyance to make sure they dont set his kitchen and then his house on fire (being paranoid after the premonition, and end up caring for his friends safety) and afterwards he ends up esting their ramen and tries to send them home . He ends up getting another premonition in thst moment (doesnt explicitely say it to the readers yet), has seconds of the ramen (bc it wasnt bad) and then his friends go home, stepping on a cigarette bud that would have started the fire.

One thing that gets me when i read this chapter is that after the second premonition, he could have still sent them home ! He now knew the cause (that he now revealed) and he couldve nipped the cigarette himself but instead he lets fate do what it does best and they leave later and step on the cigarette then . Its so interesting ! And !!! Right after that, he claims he felt empty, that his room felt larger and more quiet . Of course, in his typical fashion he tries to reassure himself thst this is what he Wanted, and that he should feel happy that he could have peace and (mainly) quiet in his house now but he just . Doesnt . He says he feels lonely . And he explains thst in elementary and middle school he never had people check up on him at home, and thus he preferred the quiet. He is literally defending himself against his OWN FEELINGS . Oh my GOD that shit made me want to CRY . I feel mang emotions a lot of the time and THAT ? THAT WHOLE SEGMENT AT THE BOTTOM OF WHAT FEELS LIKE A BOTTOMLESS PIT OF LONELINESS WHEN YOUR FRIENDS LEAVE ? THAT MADE ME WANT TO CRY!! And even !! At the end, he says "I start reading a manga in my quiet room." OH MY GOD NO FUCKIN WAY .... first , he reiterates that his room is quiet ! Second, he says he starts reading a manga and considering that nendou had bought a manga for him and then gave him said manga when he first woke up, i like to think that he started reading the manga that nendou gave him !! This is SO important to me because hes being VULNERABLE !! In the manga, He never really expresses negative emotions towards the thought of his friends leaving, infact many a time he tries to play it off as a relief (he sucks at playing it off though) , so the fact that hes being OPEN about his feelings to readers about these emotions of a sort of lasting and lingering and Yearning and the fact that its Most Likely (im unsure but for now i will say that it IS) canon!! Hes so silly !!! My silly little guy! He literally says his friends are destined to be there with him!! Thats crazy!! And he proves it in the next volume !

Moving onto the next book :D first , i want to address toritsuka . Though he is fucking crazy , its important to note that saiki Still cares for him !! In the book, first chapter in pov of toritsuka, reita says that saiki looks at him with pity several times and even in saikis pov at the end he feels bad that toritsukas luck is so shit bc his gaurdian spirit(nendous dad) is never around, and even debates talking to the guy . He feels genuine pity for toritsuka , so i cant say saiki is cruel or a distrustful guy bc LOOK AT HIM!! Caring for his buddies !! Even the less honourable and more crazy ones !!! :DD

Back on topic with saiki n his friends! The last 3(or 2 n a half??) chapters are all for one arc !! THE MOST SILLY ARC ! You have probably read it and i dont want to repeat summaries of chapters if yall have, so ill spare yall the big picture!! The chapter thst makes me want to swoon so Badly is the interlude, where saiki is under the spell thing of the parallel! Saiki Kusuo, so hes supposed to be in a dream . In this dream, he is at a festival . No powers . No limiters . He doesnt even know Why he is think of powers or limiters . He thinks hes starting to have 8th grade syndrome . The FIRST person that his subconscious places into his mind to talk to him first was NENDOU! He doesnt know anyone at this festival, all he knows is that this random guy with his face blurred and black out recognized him and is dragging him to a nice hideout . And he lets him !!! Without realizing, in all his thinking, his body moves by itsef, similarly to the chapter "eat all you can!" In the first novel, he just follows and doesn't necessarily register his total surroundings (trusting his body to whoever is guiding him - he can easily fend off anyone that Tries to attack, but right now he is subdued and right now he is a sheep until he becomes a wolf) and he just thinks ! Eventually, nendou leads them to a place to watch the fireworks and is SO genuine with saiki that saiki cant help hut realize just who is leading him, who he trusts the most with his subconcious and honesltly probably dissociating body is Nendou, and he says to Us (or namely to himself but yk) that the person that will Always be there for him, esper or not, real or a dream, is Nendou.

FUCK. i FUCKING LOVE THEM . Especially considering that he had teleported to a parallel universe where Nendou didnt go to PK academy, it brings so much emotion to me knowing saiki truly believes thst he and nendou are like . A destined thing . This could be taken romantically or platonically . i dont think it matters that much, although its probably meant to be taken platonically. its so much more meaningful thst Nendou has changed the course of action in his life because he was just being Himself to Saiki, because no matter what in Every universe (namely the only two parallel universes that he has been to) Nendou has attatched himself to Saikis side and isnt really meant to let go . The only reason why this parallel universe is like the worst ever is Because the Saiki Kusuo in this universe gets Rid of nendou, and then all goes downhill. Our saiki originally thought it was a good idea(in the way that he actually was concerned on where nendou was the ENTIRE time he was in class) before he realized just how shit it is without the power of Friendship . AHHHH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH !!! This is what caused me to keep thinking of saiki and nendou, intimately familiar with each other and stuck with each other until the end of days, because saikis omnipresence is all for naught without nendous stupidity . In the last chapter, Saiki even says that a life Without nendo is one he doesnt prefer to be in . Saiki is on the Right track, the Most correct pathway ever , from saving the dog in chapter 1 and indulging in his friends antics in every media ever, he is Correct .

The moral of the story is now my head is exploding st the seams with need for more nendou and saiki twinning . I need more saiki listening to his friends, seemingly uncaring but then reciting their stories or giving them gifts based on what they ramble on unknowingly to him . I Need more nendou not really getting social cues, but understanding his Pals uncomfort in certain situations . I need them to be Best Friends . Twinning . Sillies !! I miss them so much and i just i just 💥 im really losing it i love saiki and his friends interacting , he Knows that he Cares and protects Them, but he is like almost Clueless that they love him back and he most definitely doesnt realize or believe he doesnt need Their protection (AND THEN NENDOU COMES ALONG AND JUST . OBLITERATES HIS WORLD VIEW(LAST CHAPTER IN MANGA))
