Chiming in because the post above Pangur's decided to have a stab at theory crafting about my country's posting habits: No, I as an Englishman do not just 'as a force of habit' (as one other poster offered) leave off the country destination on my address when ordering things online from another country, because that would be incorrect, and i would like to make things easier on the kind folks who are sending me things across one body of water or another by not asking them to be my editor in chief while i half-ass my own address. The format is this: House Number/House Name & Street Name Local Area Name/Village/Town/whatever Nearest City County name (full or slightly appended), Postcode ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM it's not difficult to fill out, it narrows down logically, it helps the seller out because they also have to print the fucking thing out to slap it onto the parcel to get it to survive customs anyway, and no if I was sending fifty letters thither and yon across the british isles every other day of the week, i would STILL remember to put England and United Kingdom BOTH on international orders because it's literally incorrect to do otherwise.
one thing I’ve noticed while running an online shop is that Americans never include their country when writing their address.
I don’t mean when filling in online forms, bc that’s obviously a required element. but when emailing me for address changes for orders, they never include a country in the updated address. but I always know the country is the United States of America because literally nobody else around the world would do that.
