It's a tic
A/N: Maked Bucky a neighbour, because I thought it would just make the most sense and sprinkled a tiny bit of Angst in it. I really hope you like it through, dear Anon!
Request: Hey....... Do you think you can write a Bucky Barnes x reader, with the reader having tics or a tic disorder like tourettes? Preferably motor tics, like jerking of the head or winking the eyes, but it's your pick of course. I've got a lot of painful tics like those but I can't never find any accurate fics.... Everyone seems to think tourettes is just swearing all the time without meaning too, but it's really not just that.......
English is not my native language!
You were friends with your neighbour Bucky Barnes since a while. To be more accurate, since he moved into the apartment opposite the one you lived in. You weren't even sure anymore how this friendship happened, but it did. The only thing? You hadn't had a tic in front of him yet which actually was quite surprising considering how often you had spend time together. And you hadn't had the courage to tell him about it. Or, well, it actually wasn't about courage but rather the fear that it might change his view of you. What if that was too much for him?
Nonethelessly you knocked on his door after coming from school, your backpack still strapped to your shoulders. "Bucky? It's me.", you called a moment afterwards, just in case. The man had dissappeared the last three days to God knows where. So you weren't totally sure if he was even there.
Your head jerked a bit.
Just a few seconds afterwards his door opened through and you smiled nearly automatically. "Hi, Bucky." His short brown hair was slightly disheveled and the skin around his left eye was slightly darker, you noticed afterwards. He got into a fight.
"Hey.", he opened the door more so you could come in, a small smile making it's way on his face too. The super soldier smiled nearly all the time when you two saw each other the first time the day. According to Sam - who you had meet roughly a week ago - that was a change to his usual 'grumpy staring'. You had no idea if Bucky really was like that when he wasn't around you, but that wasn't your business anyways, right? You took his silent invitation and walked in, setting your backpack to the side. "What happened to your face?"
Bucky closed the door, mentally cursing that you had to ask that. Even if he understood why and amusement glinted in his eyes. "You are too young for that story."
Your mouth falled open, the protest already sitting on the tip of your tongue. But the adult just gave you a amused look that said you should just let it be and you only mumbled a quiet, "I am not..."
Bucky shook his head faintly with a smirk before walking past you and towards his kitchen. "Juice?"
You let yourself fall onto his couch, slipping your shoes off with a quiet, relieved sigh and closed your eyes. "Yes, please." That was better. You were sure you would get blister if you would have needed to walk just one step further.
Your head jerked again.
"You okay?"
You nearly jumped out of your skin, heart thumping harder in your ribcage in anxiety and shock. What should you do now? Tell him? Lie?
"Eh... Yes.", you swallowed, mentally reminding yourself that this was Bucky. You could tell him. There wouldn't be a better opportunity than now, right? And he wouldn't just kick you out, correct? "It's... It's just a tic. A motor tic disorder... thing, that I have.", you then got out.
Bucky processed the words, you could see it, then he smiled lightly. It was reassuring and gentle and it soothed a lot of your anxiety and tension. The adult sat down beside you, handing you the glass of juice. "So, what exactly are your tics? Only the jerking of the head?"

Since You've Been Gone: Chapter 1
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Series Masterlist
After a regrettable first meeting in the cemetery, you discover that you have something in common with a certain member of the Avengers. Unfortunately, you can't choose your neighbours, even in death.
(Setting is approx. post TFATWS)
Hi, I'm back! I have no idea where this came from, or where it's going! So apologies as updates may not be consistent while I figure it out. Warnings for death of parents, grief, mentions of cemetery/graves - please tread carefully if these are triggers for you.
🍂
It was a chilly Autumn day, but not unbearable. Your coat could more than handle the frigid breeze. You squinted at the headstone as you crouched on your knees, angling your head to make sure you hadn’t left any streaks or marks from the polish. Satisfied with your performance, you trimmed a few of the roses that were leaning against it before standing and taking a step back to admire your handiwork.
Immaculate as always, so neat you could almost be fooled into thinking you weren’t even outside. You could hear your parents’ voices in your head now, joking about being able to keep their graves far cleaner that you ever managed your bedroom to be, their frequent nags falling on deaf adolescent ears.
You smiled sadly as you looked at the intricately engraved text below their names on the shared stone:
Beloved parents taken too soon,
Waiting in heaven to be reunited with their only daughter
You’d never really like that phrasing; it was a little too whimsical for your tastes – especially all these years later. But a recently orphaned teenager wasn’t exactly an expert in choosing the best headstone wording. You’d been more than happy to let your aunt and the funeral home lead the way, too paralysed by grief to make even the smallest decisions in the hellscape that was death admin.
Still, you’d never want to upset your aunt by getting it changed, there’s a lot of strange emotion tied up in grief even when time has passed, and that mourning teen has become an adult. And it wasn’t like new headstones were cheap anyway…
As you packed up your cleaning kit your attention was drawn to the two graves next to your parents’ - George and Winnifred Barnes. They had both passed several decades earlier, long before your parents were buried next to them. They had died only a few months apart according to the text…maybe they’d couldn’t survive without each other.
It was easy to infer that they no longer had anyone left earthside. The graves had been long untouched, unkempt, and overgrown, the inscriptions getting harder to read – and you’d never seen any evidence of a visitor in all your time coming here. Except of course when the cemetery staff did one of their occasional mass clean-ups of the neglected graves.
About a year ago, you’d started tending to them alongside your parents. You weren’t sure why, it just seemed like the right thing to do. They were neighbours after all. And you’d want someone to do the same for your mum and dad if you weren’t around.
You’d cleaned their stones, wiped away the grime and given them a decent polish. You’d trimmed back the weeds and laid fresh flowers. The first time took a while, but after you’d got them to a reasonable standard it was all pretty easy to maintain.
You’d often wondered who they were. What they were like. The dates suggested they’d died of old age, a luxury your parents didn’t have. Were they kind? Funny? What hobbies did they have? They were around during the war, that must’ve been tough. You knew from the inscriptions that they had children who would’ve been over hundred by now. Maybe no grandchildren which is why nobody came by to see them anymore. It made you feel sad, how we could all be just a few generations away from being forgotten entirely. At least you could try to remember them.
You gave their graves a quick once over, took away the dead flowers and added some fresh roses in their place.
“Well, I’m done,” you said aloud, “see you soon, mum and dad. And you too, George and Winnifred. Sleep well”.
You sighed, walking back to your car and back to your life. You knew all too well that the dead may be still, but the world continues around them.
🍂
A week later you were back at the cemetery with your cleaning kit slung over your back, your arms full of fresh flowers.
“Afternoon, mum and dad,” you said as you placed your kit and flowers down and pulled out the foam pad that you used to kneel on, “and you, George and Winnifred”.
“Work has been kicking my ass this week,” you sighed as you got to work on your parents’ stone. “There’s only so much I can take of Brock’s moaning about the numbers…it’s getting harder not to smash my keyboard over his head – yeah I know, violence isn’t the answer, blah-blah-blah…”
You worked diligently, chatting away as you went through your maintenance tasks. It was nice, talking to them like this. You could say anything, really. No judgements, no admonishment, just silent acceptance of everything you told them. It was a bit like therapy for you. You often imagined your parents were sitting behind you as you spoke, just out of sight.
You liked to use old newspaper to buff up the marble. As you gathered your things together, you glanced at some of the headlines from the copy you’d brought with you. Lots of dreary grimness unfortunately. There was also a longread feature on the Avengers and where they were now, their photographs lined up across the top of the page. It was sad that a few of them were dead now, or at least no longer here. You felt a pang of sadness for their loved ones – you knew what that was like.
You didn’t know all the details of The Avengers and their associates, but like everyone else you knew the basics. It was a strange time, just a decade or so ago nobody had ever thought superheroes really existed…but then all of these ‘enhanced’ people started crawling out of the woodwork, revealing weapons and technology that previously had only existed in sci-fi movies. It was hard to believe, really.
You scanned the newspaper page, looking at the pictures for a few moments. You took your time studying their faces before sighing and placing it back down.
“All done…now let’s help out George and Winnie over here, looks like you guys need some new flowers…and all that heavy rain we’ve been having has really done a number on your stones…let me just-”
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” the gruff voice behind you demanded, causing you such a shock that you nearly joined your parents.
You spun your body away from the graves, horrified to see a man looming over you as you stared at him open-mouthed in surprise. You hadn’t heard him approach, not quite understanding how you hadn’t noticed him coming at all…
“I said what the hell do you think you’re doing?” he repeated to you, his blue eyes alight with anger.
He was big. Bigger than you. Even under his coat you could see his broad shoulders. A mop of dark hair framed his face, most likely quite an attractive face when it wasn’t pulled into a furious sneer like it was now. He wore black gloves as he pointed at you accusingly. The fact that you were kneeling on the ground while he stood towering at his full height had not gone unnoticed by you.
There was something strangely familiar about him, but you couldn’t place it. Did he shop at the same market as you? You couldn’t quite…
“I’m…I’m just-” you spluttered as you fumbled for the words, still caught in your surprise and the fact that this normally serene time had been interrupted by a stranger yelling at you…
“Get away from there!” he snarled.
You quickly realised he was talking about the Barnes’ graves. You bounced backwards, landing painfully on your ass in your desperation to do what he said. He had a chilling air of authority that you didn’t want to screw with. You weren’t trying to piss off an angry man while you were out here all alone…
“I was just tidying them up,” you managed weakly as you sat up and clutched at the flowers.
“Nobody asked you to,” he scoffed in response as he leaned over and ran a gloved finger over Winnifred’s inscription, “you shouldn’t be clambering all over graves of people you don’t know”.
You frowned as the initial shock of the encounter wore off, now annoyed now at his abrupt rudeness towards you when you only had good intentions.
“Oh, and you know them, do you?” you snapped back sharply as your felt your emotions surge and your eyes water, your cheeks hot with mortification, “well, nobody has been to visit those graves in years so-”
“Yeah, actually I do know them - I’m their son,” he spat furiously.
Your head bounced back in surprise and confusion. You curled your lip and frowned at his strange claim, he appeared to be his mid-to-late 30s at most – many years away from the very elderly man he’d need to be for that to be true.
What was his goal here, exactly?
Was this guy just looking to start an argument and decided you’d be his target? Spouting off nonsense about random graves just to mess with you?
And where did you know him from?
Despite your survival instincts, you couldn’t help but fight back. You didn’t appreciate being messed with at the best of times, let alone when you were only here to visit your deceased loved ones. Who came to a graveyard to fuck with people? And yell at them?!
“Huh? Son?” you scoffed with derision and jabbed a finger towards the inscriptions about their children, “well, that can’t be true as that would mean their kids would have to be over a hundred…and how many one-hundred-year-olds look like you…?”
“I’m 107 years old, actually,” he said venomously. He sounded utterly sincere despite the ludicrousness of his claim. His face was sullen, his eyes piercing.
You ignored the shudder that threatened to roll through you in response. It was a strangely familiar expression on his face.
Where had you seen that look?
“Oh, yeah! You’re 107…Sure!” you laughed sarcastically. “You just have the greatest plastic surgeon of all time, in fact there’s a bunch of centenarians wandering around looking thirt-”
You trailed off as a wave of recognition suddenly hit you and the penny dropped. Oh. Oh.
He wasn’t from the market…
It was him.
Your eyes panned down to the crumpled newspaper lying next to you. The same man’s face scrutinised you from the page, an exact mirror image of the brooding 3D version in front of you. A little older now, but still unmistakably the same man.
Oh!
Now you remembered that same picture on the news. Read about the terrible things he’d done before when he was under hypnosis. For the Nazis? The Soviets? Both? Flashes of recollection hit you at once, disjointed and scattered.
It wasn’t really him doing all of it, it was a mind control thing, they’d said. He was like the Captain…the first one from the 40s. Kept young…somehow. He had a robot arm. Then there was the big government pardon after he’d helped to save the world. The deep dive the New York Times had done on his assassin past. What had they said he was called? Iceman? Winter? Winter hitman?
The Winter Soldier.
Barton? Baines? No, Barnes.
Barnes.
As in…son of Winnifred and George?
Ah.
He must’ve seen your train of thought written all over your face as he nodded solemnly at you.
“Yeah. It’s me. And I only found their resting place a few weeks ago,” he said with disdain.
You got to your feet, taking a few cautious steps backwards. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know. You didn’t need to be a jerk - I’ve just been coming here for years, and I’d never seen…”
You trailed off, he didn’t care. His focus was on the graves, one gloved hand gripping the top of his father’s stone as he peered down at the grass below.
You turned to leave, giving him his privacy, “I’m sorry for your loss,” you mumbled quietly as you picked up your kit.
You started to head back to your car, then turned to face him again after a couple of steps. You warily moved back towards him and leaned over, placing a single flower between the feet of his parents’ graves. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t pick it up and throw it back in your face, either.
As you walked away, you thought you felt the weight of his gaze on your back.
🍂
Another week passed and you were back at the cemetery once more, working the usual routine and doing your best to forget what had happened the last time you were here. Upsetting a war veteran slash Avengers superhero by accusing him of not being his parents’ child was impressively incompetent, even by your standards. But in your defence, he did just start yelling at you out of nowhere. And you were only trying to help. And he was a literal defiance of nature, time, and aging…
But then again, people weren’t always their best selves in a cemetery. It wasn’t exactly Happy Hour over here. And you’d probably freak out too if you caught a stranger tinkering around with the resting place of your parents. The parents who died of old age while you were cryogenically frozen and a prisoner in your own body…
You’d done a little more reading up on him, James Buchanan Barnes. ‘Bucky’. The man behind the scary winter soldier mask. The older images of him in his combat gear were chilling, as were the alleged stats of his kills, but mainly you just felt immense empathy for a man out of time. A man who had lost his youth, a limb, his autonomy, and everybody he once knew from his old life.
You tried to put it out of your mind, catching your parents up on what they’d missed and pretty-ing things up a little around their plot. You didn’t touch the Barnes’ this time, just gave them a little wave and concentrated on your own flesh and blood.
You were a million miles away, lost in the quiet fog that often seemed to overtake you when you were working in the cemetery. It was peaceful, really. This was the one place you could switch your brain off and quiet the chatter of your head, just concentrate on the tasks you knew so well by now that your hands did them on muscle memory alone.
You were just adjusting the newest flowers when a voice interrupted you.
“Hey,” it said.
It startled you as you were still in your own world and hadn’t heard anyone else approach. You whirled around slightly panicked as a pair of eyes the colour of sapphires met yours.
It was him again.
“Oh, hello,” you replied quietly.
He stared over at you, wrapped up in his coat as he was last time. His stare was still intense despite appearing much calmer than when you first met him. He wore black pants and boots, his hands tucked away into his pockets, a dark backpack slung over his shoulder. His face was more relaxed than it was during your first encounter. His blue eyes were just as arresting, but the absence of anger made them sparkle rather than burn. He had a soft dusting of stubble across his taut jawline, his dark hair was pulled back behind his head as he absent-mindedly ran a hand over it. He was…
…hot?
Fuck.
He nodded at you in acknowledgement and moved to George and Winnifred’s plot, kneeling in front of their stones. He pulled a candle out from his backpack and lit it with a lighter, placing it between where his parents lay.
You turned away sharply, not wanting to look like you were intruding during what was clearly a private moment of mourning. You focused on your own parents’ graves, clipping back the flowers as quietly as possible.
The two of you continued doing your own thing, the awkwardness thick in the air. You remembered how furious he’d been with you last time. You considered saying something, trying to explain that you were only trying to maintain the graves, but you didn’t want to provide any more ammunition for potential anger. Instead, you continued your routine in silence, keeping your eyes down.
After you finished you packed up your stuff and cleared your throat, ‘uh, bye,” you said quietly to him as you hurried down the path and back towards your car. He didn’t respond, but looked up at you as you passed, studying you intently.

You stare at yourself in the mirror, gnawing your bottom lip. The white dress looks pretty, sort of flowy, your cheeks heat at why you picked the outfit.
The lace sits nicely, you stare at the silver woven crown you DIY-ed. Placing it upon your head. You don’t know the first thing about the character apart from what you found on google.
Galadriel, you stare at your attempt of cosplay one more time. You do admire the dress. All your best friend said was she was powerful, innocent and that she had battle skills as well as knowledgeable. She seemed badass.
You knew the man’s eye you watched to catch was a fan of the franchise. You wondered who he would dress as, your palms smoothen over the dress once again. Grabbing your purse you do a final check and head downstairs. Nervousness blooms in your abdomen.
Your elder brother’s annual halloween party was an excuse for friends and teens to sort of let loose. The only reason it was even allowed was the fact that Bucky Barnes, your dad’s best friend and neighbour would keep the antics in line. The same man who you wanted to impress tonight.
Usually he would be having fun with everyone and covering for your brother’s shenanigans and mostly keeping you company and coaxing you out of your shell for about an hour and then you both would sneak into the theatre room to have a horror movie marathon.
As you traverse downstairs, the party already in full swing. Music thumping, you squeeze past the crowd in the hallway going to the kitchen for a drink. You wonder if forgoing the wig makes a difference as you head to the fridge. Shrugging you uncap the bottle. Glad, that the kitchen isn’t occupied yet.
“Holy fuck.” The voice startles you and the water drops across your chest. You wince turning to tell of the source. Your throat dries when it’s Bucky — dressed in a suit, fangs peaking through his lips.
“B-bucky?” You confirm, he’s gone for the modern vampire vibe and you can’t stop staring at the fit of his inner white collared shirt.
“You, you’re dressed as—,” his eyes trace over you, crown to hem of the white gown. His fake fang sinks into his bottom lip. Tongue then peeking out to wet the flesh.
You gulp eyes on his lips, “G-galadriel.”
“You look, ethereal.” He admits, you look away shyly.
“Thank, thank you.” Internally your heart hammers at his response.
Bucky steps closer, towering over you. His woodsy cologne evades your senses, he reaches up, fixing your crown. Fingertips then trace from your temple to your jaw to your chin, tilting your head back.
His heated gazes prompts your thighs to clench. Bucky inhales deeply.
“Such innocence.” He murmurs, “So much light. How would you look flush against darkness?” Bucky questions he can feel all the blood rush to his cock. Your nipples hardened perceivable through the lace. The tea towel he holds pressed against your chest.
He wants to push you against the wall and kiss you. Wants to rip the lace off with his teeth, watch how your lips part moaning his name, or stretched around his cock, how would you look bouncing on his— you blink up at him, he shifts back.
“Can’t taint you, can I?” He muses. You frown.
“Bucky I,”
“Do you like my outfit?” He gestures, changing the topic.
“Vampire?” You giggle when he smiles brightly, fangs bared.
“From those shows you like,” He admits sheepish.
“The one I like wears a leather jacket.” You tease, he narrows his eyes.
“Oh so when I caught you salivating at the suit wearing one, that was what?” He chuckles when you huff caught in your own web of lies.
“I do like him in a suit, you might just make it better.” Your fingertips trace the undone jacket button, biting your lip you look up at him.
Bucky breathes your name in warning, not for himself but for you. He had begun to disregard warnings the night he coated his fist and abdomen with his cum thinking about you.
“Want to know a dirty little secret?” You burn his curiosity brighter than light. He nods.
“I wore the outfit for you.” Your hand traces up to the jacket lapel, Bucky breathes deeply.
“You dressed up as one of the most innocent characters of my favourite series, for me?” Bucky recounts, god your perfume so sweet. How would you taste? He wonders.
“All for you.” You admit, swallowing when his palm finally meets your waist. Warmth sears through your skin as his thumb brushes over the lace.
Bucky’s mind is a swirl of should I, should I not, but you were making it so easy. So easy to choose the idea to corrupt you.
The groan he produces rumbles in his chest, Bucky watches as you shift and your pelvis moves in the slightest to your thighs clenching.
“Want to know a dirty little secret, Angel?” He questions, palm trailing up your side, to your breast.
“Y-yes.” You bite your lip trying not to make a sound as he palms the flesh through the lace.
“I want to ruin you, with my tongue, my fingers and my cock.” Bucky’s voice is deep, you softly moan at his words.
“Look at that, little innocent angel wants to be ruined.” He comments, tugging on your nipples.
“You’re going to look so pretty wrapped around my cock, begging for release.” He tugs on your earlobe, you feel his thigh between your legs, your hips buck involuntary, you whimper at the contact.
“Look at you Angel, turning into such a needy, pretty slut for me.” Bucky marvels at the way you’re complying, the way your needy little breaths are making him so hard.
He pulls away as he hears boisterous laughter approaching. You whine at the loss of him.
“Angel.” He chastises. Handing you the dish towel to help soak the water from your dress.
“Oh hey, Mr. Barnes, hey tiny.” Your brother chuckles when you groan at his stupid nickname for you. He busies himself taking out drinks from the wine cooler.
“Hi Y/N. What happened?” Nick Fowler, your brother’s best friend steps closer to you.
“Just spilled a drink,” you shrug, his grey eyes on you.
“Oh I’ll help—,” Nick’s hand outstretches, but Bucky steps closer, “She’s got it.”
Nick’s jaw tenses, Bucky only smiles at him.
You look between the two, not understanding the reason for the stare down.
“Run along now.” Bucky speaks sickly sweet as your brother calls out to Nick, he gives you a once over and then leaves with him.
You look at Bucky, he turns to you, signs of irritation leaving his features.
“Meet me in my theatre room?” Bucky smiles when you nod eagerly.
He cups your face between, his metal and calloused hand.
Blue eyes, admire you.
“I want the crown to remain on, though I wonder if it will stay secure after I’m done with you.” Before you can react he presses his lips to yours, warm, soft lingering taste of his whiskey.
The cold metal of the refrigerator blooms across your back as he presses you against the appliance.
You kiss back, as his tongue swipes at your bottom lip exploring your mouth. Taking his bottom lip between your teeth you suck on the flesh, he moans your name, grinding against you.
Bucky parts his lips from yours, your lust blown eyes gaze up at him, so innocent.
“Oh, Angel. I don’t think I have any patience left any longer.” Is all he says before grabbing your hand and guiding you out the side door, towards his house.
Bucky’s hands are everywhere, your knees either side of his lap, the dress pushed up bunching around your hips. He lifts his hips ever so slightly, you cry out around his fingers.
“Go on Angel, get them nice and wet. Good girl, oh are you chocking on my fingers already? Oh sweet little needy baby, what will you do with my cock then?” He tuts, pulling his fingers out of your mouth, a trail of saliva connects from the tip of his finger to your lips.
“Ask for my fingers Angel.” Bucky smirks as you whine.
“Please.” Your hands rest on his chest.
“That wasn’t a really good job.” He chastises, “You can do better sweet Angel, go on say the filthy words of what you want from me.”
Staring into his eyes, your skin heats, Bucky shifts his hips again, you mewl.
“Bucky please.” Your hands clutch at his half unbuttoned shirt. It hangs off of his shoulders.
“Please what?” His left hand moves up your back, cooler fingers find the zipper undoing it.
“Please fuck me with, with your fingers.” You bite your lip.
“Only my fingers?” He teases thumb brushing over your inner thigh.
“Do you want to sit on my face baby? Do you want me to lap up your sweetness? Bet you taste so good.” His thumb brushes over your clit.
You nod, you want all of it.
“No panties, no bra, were you wanting me to fuck you?” He raises a brow, thumb applying pressure.
You nod preening, “Want, want you.” His left hand urges you to kneel straighter, index and middle finger circling your entrance.
“You want, me, Angel?” He confirms again, “Look at you, clenching around nothing, let’s change that shall we?” His digit sinks into you, Bucky swirls it around touching your walls, he then begins to pump in and out.
You begin to meet the slow thrusts, your gown beginning to fall from your shoulders. Bucky swears as he sees the untouched skin and the pebbled nipples.
“Look at you,” Two fingers fucking into your cunt, “Meeting every thrust, not so innocent are you?” His lips latch onto your nipple, sucking and biting your head thrown back his palm rubs over your clit as you grind down upon his fingers.
Bucky shifts his attention to the other nipple, the pace of his fingers increasing he adds a third, “Have to stretch you out don’t I? Aw, Angel are you going to make a mess on me? My Dirty, dirty girl.”
“Bucky, Bucky, Bucky—,” His fingers continually tap over the spongy sport, stars begin to cloud your vision, left hand gripping your breast, tweaking your nipples.
“Go on, cum for me Angel, this is only the beginning of your ruin.” Bucky smirks as you shudder against him, cunt squeezing his fingers, thighs trying to close, your hands tugging on is hair.
Lust blown blues admire you unraveling, the bliss spreading over your features as the orgasm takes you, your walls begging to keep his fingers in, Bucky’s palm rubbing circles over your clit and the burn of it delicious. Your shaking from the aftershocks ceases. It takes everything in Bucky not to have his fingers replaced by his cock swiftly.
“You with me Angel?” Bucky chuckles, when you blink through the haze.
“Y-yeah.” You run your fingers through his hair.
“Crown’s still on.” He chuckles, bringing his slick covered fingers to your lips, “Have a taste, you need to know how you taste without me.”
His fingertips trace your lips, your tongue follows. Bucky then tastes you from his fingers and moans.
Your dress is pushed off of your body, Bucky’s hands roam in admiration.
“So fucking delicious, I deserve a reward don’t I? For being this patient, for letting you remain untainted by me this long.” He looks at you, you nod. Bucky taps your hips and you move off him to allow him to slide down.
He kisses your clit, “Already needy, my, my.” his tongue licks over your folds, humming at your taste.
“Grab onto the headboard, Angel.” He says before his lips wrap around your clit and he sucks wantonly upon the pulsing nub. Shivers bloom across your back.
You moan, grinding onto his face, he groans. Hands clutching your hips not letting you move away, Bucky laps at your entrance, licking stripes from your clit to circle and back. Nibbling on the clit your mewls and preens don’t stop, his light scruff burns deliciously over your inner thighs and folds.
“Bucky please, please, please—,” You warn as the coil snaps again, his hips lift off of the bed in response as he hungrily devours you for every single drop. When he doesn’t relent you try pulling away, you can feel yourself getting slick again as his ministrations continue.
His large hands push you back to sit on his lap again, pink lips glistening as he smirks. He pulls you close chest to chest.
“Rewarding.” He comments lazily tracing patters on your thigh.
You look down, the tent in his pants achingly visible.
“Can, can I?” You request.
“All words, Angel, need to know the filth that goes on in that innocent little mind, tell me is it all for me? Have my thoughts been corrupting you?” Your thighs squeeze at his word.
“Have you touched yourself thinking about me? Played with my pussy without asking me?” His thumb returns to your clit.
“Yes.” You squeak.
“Tell me what you’ve thought about baby?” He questions, “Tell me while you undo my pants, go on.”
Shaky fingers reach for the button, “I’ve thought, I’ve though about you fucking me, in your study.” You undo the zipper.
“Bent over my table?” He questions watch your tits with every deep breath you take.
You shake your head, toying with the wait band of his boxers.
“Against the window? My sweet, innocent, Angel wants the world to see I’m fucking her?” He questions, you nod.
“And maybe the table too.” You add, drawing amused laughter from him.
“What else, Angel?” He questions pace on your clit increasing, “Take my cock out.”
You do as he says, pumping him from bottom to top, his length is massive and girth as well. You bite your lip.
“Angel, don’t worry your pretty little head, it’ll fit, pussy was made for my cock.” He hisses as you rub your thumb on the slit then you bring the precum covered digit to your lips, locking eyes with him.
“Go on, taste me.” He watches as you clean your thumb eyes closed and humming at his taste before returning your hand to his cock.
“Stand up, we’re going to my office.” Bucky’s cock twitches in your hold.
His clothes are discarded, he easily lips you up, legs wrapped around him, his cock shifts over your folds with each step, Bucky keeps his lips pressed to yours as he easily moves to his office down the hall.
“Bend over the table corner.” He instructs, setting you down, you do as he says the cold marble has you shift, the rounded corner touches your clit.
“Just how I pictured.” He hums appreciative, lining himself up with you, slowly sinking in inch by inch you both moan in synchrony. Bucky grabs your hands holding them behind you. The arch it creates has him move in deeper, tip right against your g-spot.
“Fuck, so fucking tight, look at you, spread out for me, what would people say? Innocent little Angel is Bucky’s pretty little slut. She fantasises about being fucked by him. I’ll fuck you on every surface if you ask me.” His hips snap you cry out, clenching hard around him.
“Only you.” You whimper, as his pace increases, the cold marble rubbing against your clit.
“Fuck, how good are you squeezing me, cunt doesn’t want to let me go.” Bucky groans, pulling you up.
His cock moves deeper, your back is against his chest, his left hand moves to your clit, right hand around your throat squeezing lightly. Your walls quiver around him.
“Oh Angel likes being choked? Fuck, you’re perfect. My pretty little slut, look at you.” He groans, adding pressure and the sounds of his cock have you mewl and preen.
“Please, please, please,” More incoherent thoughts spill from your lips, he feels so good, so good. So deep.
“Only I, get to see you this way don’t I? Begging, on the brink of bliss.”
Yes, yes, yes—“Bucky, please—,”
“Look at you, can only think about my cock filling you up so good, can’t you Angel?” He bites down on your neck, leaving his mark.
“So, g-good,” You choke on another moan.
Your hands around his neck, your nails manage to claw at his flesh. Bucky knows he’s not going to last, he knows you aren’t going to either.
“Go on Angel, cum so you can feel me everywhere. My dirty, little, pretty girl. Innocent little slutty Angel.” His words set off the flame that consumed your veins, distantly you hear a desperate cry of Bucky’s name, Bucky groans your name in response your spasming walls setting his orgasm off.
He continues to fuck you through your orgasms, panting in his arms, Bucky loves how your pussy feels wrapped around him. He leans back taking you with him into his plush chair.
Cock still inside of you, his fingers rubbing at your clit, you protest, his hand clutches at your hair, lips swallow down your protests, fingers moving fast your babbles return, cumming undone on his cock, marking it with yourself.
“Look at that Angel, you’ve claimed my cock.” He admires the fluids coating your thighs and his balls, gathering the cum, he brings his fingers to your lips.
You keep your eyes locked with his, as you lick his fingers clean. Your clit pulses at the taste. Bucky smirks feeling your pussy clench. Your mind is a haze as his lips press kisses to your temple and cheek.
“I’ve got all night to corrupt your thoughts further. Against the window next, Angel. I know someone who would hate to miss out on the show we put on.” He chuckles darkly, hands roam your body.
You hum tiredly, basking in the warmth, Bucky’s eyes shift to the broken crown discarded to the floor.
“Little corrupted Angel.” He hums, nuzzling into the crook of your neck, "My Angel." He repeats, placing a soft kiss over the love bite on your neck.
"All yours, Bucky." You whisper, tilting your head back to meet his blue eyes.

"Buck Moon" (Bucky x Reader - Teenage Neighbours AU)
Buck Moon is tomorrow (Saturday, July 24th)! It will be a full moon (and orange!). Why Buck Moon? It's named in the almanac "buck moon" by Native American Algonquin tribes (since this is around the time male deer antlers are full-grown). You can read more about it here at NASA where they will do a better job explaining. I'm just here to write y'all a fic about it.
Title: Buck Moon (you are the moon of my life) Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader Rating: Teen+ Tags/Warnings: Reader's parents are deceased, first kiss, fluff, emotional hurt/comfort, mutual pining Summary: Bucky, your neighbour, catches you stargazing and sneaks out one night to watch with you. AO3 Link
Tonight, just like every other night, you crack open your window and pop the screen off, setting it aside. Feet first, you step out on the shingles and drag your blanket behind you to set up your little spot on the roof and close the window behind you. There was something serene about watching the night sky, when the town was asleep and the moon was shining brightly above you.
You had so many memories that involved the stars in the sky - your first camping trip with your dad, singing Wish Upon a Star with your mother whilst watching Pinocchio, the glow in the dark stickers that you had in your childhood bedroom (some of which are still on the ceiling). Each night you sat on the roof brought all these memories back for you, comforting you before you sleep. In fact, you're so concentrated on the sky above, that you never catch the curious stares of your neighbour, who often sits on his backyard porch, who often also looks up with admiration - just not at the stars.
---
Today was particularly rough - something just wasn't aligned for you. You had missed your bus and ended up being late to your first class, forgot your lunch, and then totally bombed your volleyball game, the first loss of the year. It was days like this that you wished you had your parents here, even though you loved living with your grandma. Sometimes, the world just felt unfair and since you never wanted to come off as ungrateful, you held it all in until it was just you and the open night sky. You slip out onto the roof, tugging your blanket behind you and settle into your spot. The tears had been threatening to spill all day, so it finally felt good to let them out, trying to stifle them so as to not wake anyone up.
You nearly screamed when a head popped up on the side of your roof before you realized it was just Bucky, your neighbour that you'd had a crush on since forever.
"Bucky?" You ask, wiping your tears away so he didn't see. "What are you doing?"
"Well, I'm trying to get onto this roof," Bucky answers simply before his head disappears and you see just the tips of his fingers on the ledge, shuffling over. He eventually gets his forearm braced, then a foot, then a leg. You were stunned into stillness as he finally rolls onto your roof and exaggeratedly lays on his back with a small "phwew".
"Um?"
He turns his head to look at you and then picks himself up with a smile, crawling the last few feet to sit beside you.
"What happened?" He asks.
"Nothing," you reply automatically.
"You don't just cry over nothing, c'mon [y/n], you can tell me."
You've been neighbours since you were both kids, played together, went to the same schools. You'd grown apart in high school, which you didn't feel bitter about or anything, it was natural. He was the school's basketball star, you had your volleyball, and he joined the student council while you signed up for the yearbook committee. Your schedules never matched anymore, and his friends from the basketball team would pick him up for school while you took the bus. But it didn't mean you weren't sad. Ever since you could remember, he had been the Sun, bright eyes and shining smile, and you had merely orbited around him.
"Just had a bad day," you finally settle on. Maybe you hadn't done a good enough job of keeping quiet, or you weren't hiding your emotions well enough. Bucky was quiet for a moment, but he wrapped an arm around you and pulled you in for a hug. You flushed at the sudden contact, how warm his body was pressed against your side, and how much a simple act like this would send you into tears again.
"M'sorry, doll," he murmurs into your hair as you cry silently into his shirt - for all the bad days you've had, all the times you bit back your sadness to plaster a fake smile on your face, everything came pouring out. Bucky rubbed circles into your shoulder and kept encouraging you to cry, let it all out, which of course made you cry more. It felt like hours had gone by before you found your voice again.
"Thanks," you rasp, throat dry. "Sorry."
"Don't be sorry," he tells you. "C'mon, tell me what I can do to make you feel better?" You just chuckle, because the Bucky now was the same Bucky when you were 5 years old - always wanting to help, always smiling and wanting to put a smile on others.
"I think I'm alright now," you sniffle. It did feel cathartic to have finally let it out, your limbs loose without the usual tension, even if your head felt a little stuffy. "I guess I just needed a good cry."
He didn't move his arm, and you didn't move away. You just wanted to feel safe and warm, for a bit longer.
"I miss you, [y/n]," he finally says. "I don't know when we drifted apart, but I hate it."
"I miss you too," you admit. "We just... do different things now. Have different friends."
"You're still my best friend, you know that right?" He looks down at you and - well, no, you didn't. He was one of the golden boys at school, he had plenty of friends these days.
"Really?"
"Yeah, really," he grumbles, annoyed that you don't believe him. He even flicks your arm lightly. You don't know if Bucky is just saying it to make you feel better, but it does help nonetheless.
"You're still mine too."
The silence isn't uncomfortable, you're both watching the twinkling stars above, and you even offer him some of the blanket to wrap around his shoulders. It feels nice. Then, he starts to sing, low and soft.
When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream, No request is too extreme When you wish upon a star As dreamers do
Your eyes sting a little but you don't think your body is capable of producing any more tears, so with a wobbly voice, you join him for the next part.
Fate is kind She brings to those who love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing...
Like a bolt out of the blue, Fate steps in and sees you through... When you wish upon a star, Your dreams... come... true!
A bubble of joyous laughter emerges, remembering how many times Bucky watched this movie with you when you were younger, and the both of you yelling the words at the top of your lungs, completely off-key.
"Thanks, Buck." Seeing you smile again made Bucky's heart flutter - this is how you were meant to look to him, cheerful and happy.
"Have you ever wished upon a star?" His head tilts to look at you curiously.
You nod, a little embarrassed. It was probably cute when you were seven, but you were seventeen now. I wished that I we could go back to how things were - when I was happy, when mom and dad were still here, when you and I were closer, I wished we could be more.
"I know you can't tell me what you wished for," Bucky interrupts your thoughts. "But whatever you wished for, I hope it comes true for you." You have to bit your tongue from saying anything that would give you away. Instead, you tell him about the full moon tomorrow.
"They named a moon after me," Bucky waggles his eyebrows, which makes you roll your eyes fondly.
"You keep believing that."
"Nah, I'm jus' teasing. I know it's because the bucks got their antlers full grown before they lose 'em again." You were surprised he knew that, and told him so.
"You watch the stars every night," Bucky states matter-of-factly. "Had to come with something to impress you." Your cheeks warm, but you know it didn't mean anything. Bucky was a notorious smooth-talker, he probably doesn't even register half of what he's saying and the effect it has on you.
"It's just so..." You don't really have the words to describe the feeling, but you try. "There's a whole galaxy out there, billions of stars that shine. Like the night sky's freckles. It's the most beautiful thing in the world."
"Not quite," Bucky mumbles, and when you turn to ask him what he means, your breath catches when you see him staring at you, the look on his face of open adoration. His eyes are shining brilliantly in the moonlight, the grey-blue that you've memorized looking right at you, like you were the stars. It's the same look you've had for him for years.
"Buck?" You tremble under the weight of his moment. And like a comet blazing its way toward you, he leans in closer and closer while your heart starts to race.
He kisses you slowly, lips slotting in just right against yours and your body lights up like the sky above. It's sweet, and he pulls back to see the dusting of pink across your cheeks, your eyes full of love and wonder. For him. You rest your foreheads together, a pair of matching shy smiles on your faces.
"Don't yell at me, but I'm going to tell you what I wish upon stars for," he whispers. "I've always wished for you. I wished for you to love me back, but that was selfish so then I wished for you to be happy. And every time you got sad or upset, I'd wish for the stars to grant you whatever you wished for."
His admission hits you like an asteroid, and you tear up again, damn him!
"Bucky," your voice as shaky as your hands when you reach to cup his face in your palms. "I've loved you since we were kids."
"So have I." This time, when he kisses you, he wraps his arms around you and brings you into his lap, holding you close. It's everything you ever dreamed of, and you don't know why the two of you waited so long - how you two could be so blind. You feel his tongue against your lips, shy and asking for permission. You've never been good at saying no to Bucky, and you certainly weren't about to start now. He feels perfect underneath you, his arms holding you steady, grounding you.
"I love you, [y/n]."
"I love you too, buck moon." Taglist: @anonnygon

I’m Here For You
Request: Hi! Can I please get one where the reader is friends with Steve and is introduced to Bucky. They both feel an instant connection but Bucky tries to push her away because he thinks he's not worthy of her. So she does little things like puts a blanket over him when he falls asleep and other things to make him feel more comfortable and to be there for him and help him. Then eventually it leads to them getting together (which also makes Steve very happy). Thank you!
Warnings: Swearing, HELLA FLUFF
Pairings: Bucky x Reader
A/N: Listen this idea is SO CUTE ok enjoy, it’s also really long, sorry not sorry. x
Calling Steve Rogers your best friend was an understatement, the guy was practically a brother to you. You had been his neighbour when he got his first apartment, waking up 70 years after falling under ice. The two of you grew close and when he joined the Avengers, you grew close to them as well. Tonight, he had invited you to Stark’s Christmas party because in his words, you ‘don’t party enough.’ You agreed, loving the chance to get dolled up. You wore a floor length red dress and had your hair styled very 40s - what can you say? Steve rubbed off on you.
You stepped out of your apartment and came face to face with the soldier, who wore a clean tuxedo.
“Look at you, you stud,” you grinned at him, causing him to blush slightly.
“Me? You look amazing, (y/n).”
You winked at him and thanked him, before locking your door and making your way out of the building, calling a cab. Tony insisted on sending you guys a limo to pick you up, but that luxury was so not your style, so the two of you hopped into a cab and took off.
Once you arrived at Stark Tower, the two of you made a beeline for the elevator and up to the top floor. Steve seemed clearly nervous about something, so you gave him a small nudge of the shoulder.
“You seem antsy, what’s up?” You smiled up at him.
“Sharon’s going to be here,” He sheepishly admitted, causing you to smirk.
“Oooooh, I see, I see,” You chuckled, “Is that why you got extra glammed up? You trying to woo her with your fashion sense?” You teased and he shook his head, laughing slightly.
When the elevator reached your floor, Steve let out a long sigh before the two of you stepped out. There were already a couple dozen people in the room, the music blasting, and a large Christmas tree stood dead center. You immediately noticed Tony standing by the window, a large crowd around him, as usual.
“Hey, man,” Steve stuck his hand out and fist bumped a brunet who approached the two of you. His long brown hair hung in his face, and your eyes immediately went to his left arm, which was metal. This must be Bucky. You had heard a lot about the infamous James Barnes, but because of his past, he was always being monitored, so you never got to meet him.
“Buck, this is (y/n), my neighbour,” Steve grinned to you and you smiled at Bucky, who kept his eyes on you without saying anything.
“It’s really nice to finally meet you,” you smiled, “I’ve heard so many stories about you from Steve here,” you gave the blond a small nudge.
“I’ve heard a lot about you too, it’s nice to finally have a face to the stories,” Bucky smiled and you chuckled slightly. You had seen images of Bucky back in the 40s from Steve and the museum, but there’s something about him in person that’s breathtaking. His blue eyes were warm, yet cold at the same time, and his hair was quite luscious.
“Oh, shit, there’s Sharon, what do I say?” Steve pulled the two of you closer and motioned in the direction of Sharon Carter, who you had also heard about waaay more times than you care to admit.
“Be yourself, Steve,” you gave him a thumbs up.
“But not too much,” Bucky smirked at him, to which he rolled his eyes before walking off, leaving you and Bucky grinning at him as he approached her like a teen boy with a crush.
You turned your attention back to Bucky, “So...”
Bucky chuckled, “Yeah, Steve really isn’t that great at introducing people, I’ll do it better, I’m Bucky.”
“(Y/N),” you smiled up at him, taking in his facial features as he swooped his hair out of his beautiful face, “This must be weird for you, huh? You know, not being in the 40s.”
He nodded his head, “Yeah, it’s really something. I still wake up sometimes expecting to be back home in my bed in Brooklyn, it takes a while to adjust.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed an empty couch by the corner of the window, and nodded your head in it’s direction, “You want to go sit?” He nodded and followed you over. Once you sat down, the bustle of the party was no longer surrounding you, so maybe you could get a chance to know this guy.
“So, what do you do for a living?” Bucky asked, turning his attention to you.
You smiled, “I’m sort of in between things at the moment. I recently got fired from my job at the New York Times for refusing to write about the Avengers, actually.”
“No shit,” Bucky said, “Well, I’m sorry to hear.” He smiled at you, moving his hair out of his face once again.
“Nah, it’s okay,” you shrugged, “Boss was a twat anyways, so it was about time I got out of there.”
You sat there for another half hour, maybe more, getting to know the man in front of you. You understood why Steve was so fond of him, he was a genuine, kind man, and he had been horribly misunderstood. It broke your heart to think of how he had been treated, and you knew he deserved so much better than that. You felt a connection to him from the moment you met him, and you knew that it was something you wanted to pursue, but you didn’t want to overstep your boundaries. Bucky clearly had some personal issues he needed to deal with first, but you really wanted to get to know him.
“(Y/N)!” Steve came rushing over to you, phone to his ear, “There’s been a break in, in both of our apartments.”
“What?” You stood up, eyes wide, “Why? Who was it? What did they take? Should we go?” You waited for Steve to get an answer before pestering him with more questions.
“No, I don’t think we should,” he pulled the phone away from his ear, “They found two guys in your flat, both Hydra. They need to do a scan of the building, they say it might take two days.”
“Two days?!” You shouted, “I can’t afford a hotel, Steve, where am I going to stay?”
Steve hung up the phone and put his hands on your shoulders, “Tony’s got loads of space, don’t worry.”
You rolled your eyes, “I’m not going to impose on Stark, I can’t do that.”
“You’re not imposing,” Tony walked up behind Steve, smiling, “I’d be honoured to have you stay here. Fair warning, you’ll be getting the room next to mine.”
You smiled, “Thank you, Tony. But I don’t have anything except this dress, heels, and my phone.”
Tony grinned again, “I’ll take you shopping tomorrow, done deal. See you then!” Just like he arrived, he disappeared back into the crowd and you shook your head, smiling, before sitting back down, noticing Bucky was no longer on the couch next to you. You looked around and couldn’t find him anywhere, he must have left.
-
The next couple of days went by without a hiccup. Tony got you a change of clothes, toiletries, and new shoes, keeping his promise. You stayed in the room next to Steve, much to Tony’s dismay. Across from your room was Bucky’s, who spent a lot of time in there. The past couple of days you hadn’t seen him much and when you did, he didn’t talk to you that much. You were worried that the only reason he spoke to you at the party was because he was drunk, and that in his sober reality, he didn’t actually want to talk to you.
This was keeping you up one night, and after tossing and turning for about an hour, you decided to get up and get a drink of water. You stood up and threw a shirt on, and slowly walked down the hallway, not wanting to wake anyone up. When your reached the kitchen, there was already a light on, but no one in sight, so you shrugged it off and walked over to the fridge. Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted a hand resting on the back of the couch, but your heart picked up it’s pace when you noticed it was a metal hand. You slowly walked towards the couch and what you saw melted your heart. Bucky laid passed out, one arm thrown over his torso and the other on the back of the couch. He clearly didn’t plan on falling asleep here as he still had his shoes on. You smiled at the sight and picked up a blanket from the back of the couch, lightly placing it on top of the sleeping soldier, being careful not to wake him.
You walked back to the kitchen and poured yourself a glass of water with the utmost care, not wanting to disrupt Bucky. Once you finished your glass, you turned to place it in the sink when you heard a small whimper come from the couch. Looking back, you noticed Bucky’s fingers twitching.
“No...” he mumbled, and you realized he was having a nightmare. Your heart shattered and you placed the glass in the sink before slowly walking over to the couch. His face showed signs of distress and you softly placed your hand on top of his.
“Bucky, hey, wake up,” you whispered, rubbing his hand lightly. He jumped out of his slumber and faced you, instantly relaxing and taking a deep breath once he realized it was a dream.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
You shook your head, “Don’t apologize, it’s alright.”
He smiled softly at you before closing his eyes once again, sighing, “This happens all the time.”
You smiled sadly, “I know, I’m sorry.”
He sat up and scooted over, making room for you as he didn’t take his eyes off of you, “I hate it, you know? I feel so guilty all the time, everything is my fault. People keep trying to comfort me telling me it wasn’t me, but I still have to live with the visions of what I’ve done. It doesn’t just go away.”
You sat silently, letting him vent.
“During the day I can at least try to push the Winter Soldier out of my mind, but at night, it hits me and I can’t escape it.”
You placed your hand on his metal one, causing him to tense up slightly, “Bucky, I can’t imagine how you feel about all of this, really, because I haven’t been through that, but you need to know that everyone in this building is willing to help you. We all care for you and you’ve been through enough shit to last a lifetime, and you don’t deserve that. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I really am, but I’m here if ever you need me. I helped Steve through his dark times so I’m good at that sort of thing,” you chuckled slightly and he smiled, still never taking his eyes off of you.
“You don’t need to deal with my shit,” he grumbled before standing up, tossing the blanket aside with a confused face, and starting to walk off, but you grabbed his hand and stood up too.
“Hey, you don’t deserve to deal with that stuff either, but doing it alone is so much worse than having someone there for you, I’m not going to let you suffer,” you said, eyes locked on his.
He shook his head, “I can’t drag you down with this, my guilt is too much for a lot of people, I don’t deserve someone like you to help me.”
You placed a finger to his lip to shush him, “I’m here for you, Bucky.”
He turned away from you, “No, I don’t deserve it, leave me alone.”
-
The next couple of days went much better. Steve still didn’t feel safe with you returning to your apartment so Tony agreed to let you guys stay as long as you wanted, and now that you knew Bucky well enough, you wanted to stay to help him. You often rushed to his room in the middle of the night while he had nightmares, or stayed up late with him when he was too afraid to sleep. You never left his side when he was down and Bucky will never understand how he got lucky enough to have you help him. He knew you were sad about his situation, but you kept a smile on your face around him and because of that, he felt a smile more often.
You would wake up early in the morning and be the first face he saw before going for his morning run with Steve, and when he returned, you had made them a nice breakfast. You knew Bucky didn’t take care of himself so you did it for him. He hated that you were taking up your time to take care of him, not because he didn’t like you, but because he didn’t feel worth it.
He felt himself being drawn to you, he felt a strong connection to always want to be with you, and you with him. Steve constantly asked you if there was something going on, and you’d have to brush him off before you found yourself blushing and imagining what that would be like.
It’s a night when you thought about these things the most, naturally, so you found yourself being kept awake a lot more often than you’d like. Deep down, you knew it was because you wanted to be awake for Bucky’s nightmares, but you couldn’t admit that because when you accept your feelings, it’s just a downward spiral from there.
This night, you were doing just that, and no matter how much tossing and turning you did, your thoughts didn’t drift from the mysterious soldier once.
“Miss (y/n), I sense high levels of stress coming from Agent Barnes’ room,” Friday’s voice broke your thoughts and you jumped out of bed, completely forgetting pants, and rushed across the hall to Bucky’s room. You opened the door and saw him tossing in his sleep, small groans coming from the sleeping soldier. You sat next to his figure and placed a hand on his forehead, and his eyes opened instantly.
“Fuck,” he groaned, shoving his face down on the pillow, “I’m so sorry, you need to sleep, go back to bed.”
You shook your head, smiling, “No, no, I’m not leaving just yet.”
He pulled his face from the pillow and looked you dead in the eyes, a small smile on his lips, “You’re amazing, I’m sorry. Thank you.”
You placed a light kiss on his forehead and he shivered under your touch, “I’m here for you, Barnes, remember?” he nodded, “Do you want a glass of water?”
He shook his head, “No, no, I’m alright, I have one,” he motioned to his side table where there was indeed a glass of water. You smiled down at him and started running your fingers through his hair, something that you found soothed him instantly. His eyes fluttered shut and your heart soared at the thought of you being the only one who can calm him down like this. You continued to do so for another couple of minutes until you noticed him drifting off.
“You need to get back to sleep, Buck,” you whispered, “I’m gonna go back. I’ll see you in the morning,” you started to get off the bed, but Bucky grabbed your arm and looked up at you.
“No,” he mumbled, “Can you... uh, can you stay... for tonight?”
“In here?” You asked and he nodded, cheeks slightly rosy. You grinned at him and nodded, climbing under the blankets. Your heart was going absolutely wild, and you mentally cursed because you know he could hear things like that. You tried to keep still, not showing how excited you were to spend the night with Bucky.
Before either of you could say anything, Bucky’s arm wrapped around your torso and he pulled you closer to him so that your bodies were touching. His arm was cold - it was metal, so no surprise - but his body was extremely warm and you found yourself leaning into his touch, resting your head against his chest as he rested his head on top of yours.
“Thank you,” he mumbled against your forehead, placing a light kiss to it that sent you over the moon. You didn’t answer, but you smiled up at him before cuddling back up to him. Within minutes, the two of you were fast asleep.
-
“Bucky, wake up, man,” Steve’s voice broke the two of you our of your slumber. You woke up with your head shoved in the crook of his neck, his arm around your torso and your legs all tangled within each other. Your head shot up and Bucky groaned, pulling you back down.
“Go away, Steve,” The brunet grumbled, nestling his head against yours. You were lucky that your face was covered because your cheeks felt bright red. You managed to sleep through the night in the comfort of Bucky’s arms and you really didn’t want it to end.
“Dude-” Steve opened the door and you gasped, pulling the blanket up above your head so he didn’t see you there, “Oh, my god, I’m sorry.”
Bucky chuckled, running a hand through your hair, “I told you to go away.”
“(Y/N)?” Steve’s mouth dropped as you waved a hand at him, not daring to face him, “I KNEW IT!” he shouted with a massive smile on his face, running out of the room and shutting the door behind him.
“Ugh, that was embarrassing,” You groaned when Steve finally left, turning to face Bucky who had a look of awe on his face.
“I don’t care,” he smiled at you, “I didn’t have a nightmare. The first sleep in years that I didn’t have a nightmare.”
You shot up, a huge smile on your face, “Really? That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you, Buck. That must feel nice.”
“Not as nice as sleeping next to you, I can say that,” he smirked and pulled you back down, snuggling up to you once again as the two of you drifted off. Guess your apartment was going to have to wait...

CYM MASTERLIST | NEXT
Forty-five minutes outside of New York City sits a quaint town called Valhalla. The oak trees are tall and mature, the rows of houses sit one by one identical to the next. Banners hang in store windows exclaiming the town’s pride and joy of their local high school football team. Neighbours are friendly and smiles are bright. This was your new home, at least for a little while.
The final moving box was placed in the corner on top of an old dresser that had been passed down through generations. The large bay window streamed in afternoon sunlight and warmed the room. This was it, another new beginning. You were used to it by now; new town, new school, new people to stare at you in the hallways. You weren’t a stranger to introducing yourself over and over again, retelling your story of how you had been now to five schools in seven years. No place was truly a home though this time your mother promised this new job of hers was a means to an end. You wanted to believe her, truly you did, but the consequence was that it truly didn’t matter. You were going into your senior year of high school and any friends you could hopefully make would move off to college and disappear. It was bittersweet.
A slow, deep breath exhaled through your nose as your eyes explored the room. It was forest green, not your ideal colour so painting was on the to do list. For now it was unpacking and getting familiar with the neighbourhood. Your packing mainly consisted of unpacking t-shirts and mostly laying on your bed with your phone. You decided that perhaps it was best to take a walk. Your mother was busying herself with kitchen boxes and hummed along to Rick Springfield. The doorbell chimed through the home. Your mother perked up in curiosity, hurriedly making her way to answer the door.
Neighbours, you thought. And were correct. Your mother loved meeting the neighbours.
She welcomed them inside, already there was laughter and smiles. You sighed hearing your name being called. This was cake walk but you weren’t necessarily ready to meet people today after you had driven days from Indiana. So, you emerged from the kitchen.
“There she is!”
In the makeshift living room stood three individuals with welcoming smiles on their face. They looked like a family from a catalog, prim and proper.
“Sweetheart, our neighbours have kindly stopped by. These are the Carter’s: Arthur, Polly and their daughter Peggy. She’s goes to Valhalla.”
Here was the thing about being new: you had to be open to people or else it was going to be hard to adapt. High school was hard enough especially bouncing around from state to state, but there was always one person that could make it worthwhile. So you plastered on your most friendly smile and waved to them. The Carter’s waved in return and Polly Carter began to speak.
“It’s always nice to have new people in the neighbourhood. The previous homeowners were a little less than kind.” Polly commented with a pristine British accent. That caught you off guard for a moment but her voice was soothing.
“Why don’t you show Peggy around?” Your mother was beaming. She liked when you had friends around. She always wanted you to have new experiences.
You nodded and Peggy followed you. It was a quick tour through to the kitchen and a glimpse of the backyard before you took Peggy upstairs: mom’s room, bathroom, tiny guest spot and then, finally, your domain.
“I’m guessing you didn’t paint your room this horrendous green colour?”
You laughed softly, shaking your head. “Absolutely not.”
“Good. I would have questioned your sensibility.”
Peggy offered to unbox your books as you continued with your clothes. She was terrific help alphabetizing the titles and making sure it was pleasing to the eye. You hadn’t met anyone like Peggy before; she was smart, humourous with hints of sarcasm and she seemed like one tough cookie. Not to mention her beauty was incredible. She dressed in soft pink structured shorts with a white blouse that had the tiniest black polka dots on them. Her brown hair had soft waves and with a beret clipping back bangs. Her lipstick even matched her shorts.
“Five schools in seven years?” Peggy’s perfectly arched brows nearly rose to her hairline as she glanced over her shoulder. “That’s exhausting.”
“It’s not at bad as it sounds.”
It wasn’t, not really. You never got too attached to things to begin with. The only thing constant in your life was good music, books, and movies. Sure, the packing and driving across state lines was taxing but it didn’t kill you.
Peggy finished with the book boxes and you finished folding the last t-shirt. You made a good team and thanked your new friend for helping you out.
“Do you think you could show me around? I was going to go out and explore before you and your parents arrived.” You never had a tour guide in new place before. You sort of just went with the flow and read whatever you could online. Peggy agreed, expression vibrant as she nearly pulled you out the door.
The rows of lookalike houses ended at a park with a jungle gym and splash pad. Children were running around and laughing, soaking in their last few days of summer. On paper and in person this town was shaping up to be something from a novel you had once read: colourful, lively and welcoming.
“I was an exchange student freshman year. My parents thought it’d be a great time for me to explore another place. At first I didn’t want to leave home, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make friends and fit in,” Peggy told her story. “Luckily I’ve been able to become friends with some lovely people, and my parents had decided to move to America as well.”
Peggy’s dad worked for a large corporation that had headquarters in New York, California, England and France. She had lucked out in being able to stay and probably live through a high school experience. You admired her for that.
You and Peggy walked in a loop and found the quickest route to your new school: Valhalla High School, home of the Panthers. The school was exceptionally large from the outside and from what you could see their football field was top notch accompanied with a scoreboard and a vast metal grandstand for spectators. You had read it was a football town, state champions five years in a row. Impressive, really. There were a few boys out in the field tossing the football around with one of them howling about something. Your eyes lingered on the old 1940s architecture for another moment.
“I was terrified when I first walked in those doors,” Peggy caught your attention. “I wished I had someone to help me navigate, so I always said I would help someone who was in my shoes. Valhalla’s a great school with some good people. You just have to weed out the dim ones. I’ve already done that for you.”
You laughed. That might have solved some of your issues but you still had to deal with the other ninety-five percent of people that attended the school. But you were thankful, hopefully they would like you like Peggy seemed to.
It truly turned into a friendship between you and Peggy. All week she showed you her favourite spots like the bookstore she liked to get lost in. There were a few corner stores, some food joints and a bowling alley up the road. She told you about Happy Hogan’s Diner, a place her and her friends visited quite frequently. It was the hottest spot in town besides Thunder Bowling Alley. Peggy stayed for dinner multiple nights and you lounged in her immaculately clean and organized bedroom. It was an easy and quick friendship and you were beyond content. Maybe it wasn’t going to be such a strange school year afterall.
“There’s a party happening tomorrow, a ‘last summer hooray’ as some of my friends say,” Peggy’s tone was easy, unsure if you were into that sort of thing. You had been to your fair share of high school parties, so another one couldn’t hurt. “My friend Natasha wants to meet you.”
“Sure, Peggy,” you smiled with a nod. “Sounds like fun.”
Peggy hadn’t spoken much about her friends. Some of them were coming back from summer end vacations or were busy working most days.
You must have stared at your closet for thirty minutes. Time was ticking down as to when Peggy was going to come get you and you had zero clue what to wear. It wasn’t some fancy party, you thought. It was summer, still plenty humid and sticky. You would be just fine in shorts and a tank top. You hated to admit it, but you did want to make some sort of good impression. These people were going to be your peers! High school was tricky; one slip up and it’s talked about for a solid month. You dragged your hand down your face, quickly deciding on a romper and pulled it on. That was fine, it was cute and the outfit made you feel good. After a few more finishing touches, Peggy was downstairs accompanied by your mother who was telling her some story about the 80s and a party she had went to.
Peggy wore a red wrap dress with flecks of white lines. They almost looked like cupcake sprinkles, nonetheless you decided that your new friend could pull anything off and look fantastic. “Ready?” you asked, taking the last step down the stairs. Peggy grinned. “I know, mom, be safe and don’t talk to creepy men.”
“As long as you know.” You mother placed a kiss to your forehead, telling you to have fun.
Peggy promised the walk wasn’t too long (it was precisely a 26 minute uphill walk, but you refrained from complaining) and you ended up in a beautiful neighbourhood you had not explored yet. The homes were wealthy looking, the curb appeal was bougie and the expensive cars in the driveways clearly indicated that this had to be the cash zone of the town.
“Whose house is this?” You were curious, eyes wide.
“Family friend, the Starks.”
You followed her up the delicately laid pavers to the frosted glass front door. Already you could feel the music vibrating the frame of the home (more like mansion). Peggy swung open the door and the bass of the song playing struck your core. There seemed to be an infinity worth of people gathered inside and pouring outside into the rolling backyard. You stuck close to Peggy as she maneuvered through the gaggle of teenagers. You couldn’t help but dart your eyes in each direction of the place; wall to wall, ceiling to floor. The two of you broke free once there was a gap and you found yourself in the grand kitchen. There were munchies splayed on the marble island, open bottles of Coke and Sprite, empty beer cans, liquor bottles and some unmentionables.
“Figured you’d be in here.”
Sitting on the countertop was a redhead with hair cropped at her shoulders. She wore all black and a solo cup was dangling from her fingers. Her eyes were soft for Peggy yet death defying when they flickered to you. Damn, this girl could kill you with just one look.
“This your new friend you’ve been raving about?”
Peggy nodded, moving on to introductions. “This is Natasha, or Nat.”
“You got a preference?” You asked her.
Natasha shrugged, solo cup to lips. “Not particularly.” She stared for another for moments. You felt like you were silently being interrogated and you already knew never to piss Natasha off. Ever. “What do you drink?”
“Anything but tequila.”
“Probably a smart decision.” Natasha hopped off the counter and whipped up whiskey and coke, handing it over to you with what you think might have been a smile. You weren’t entirely sure but it was something. You tipped the cup to her in appreciation, then took a long swig of the alcoholic mixture.
Peggy had her arms lightly folded over her chest, pushing herself on the tips of her toes to look around. That’s when you saw Natasha smirk. “He’s outside playing beer pong with the boys. ”
You peaked interest, looking between each of them. Nothing was said but you could see Peggy had blushed. “Naturally.” She murmured.
The mixture of music kept you moving. It was a completely random compilation of old school rock mixed with new hip hop, 90s classics and disco hits. It should have been something to complain about but in fact it all weirdly worked together. Whoever was in charge had an ear for this sort of thing. You mainly stuck around with the girls, meeting a few people as you weaved through the home. You met the party host, at least briefly. Tony Stark was a guy with a devilish smirk and had an ego that radiated off of him. There were few words spoken before he was distracted by a group of three girls wearing the bare minimum of clothing and had some colourful pills. Peggy had rolled her eyes and Natasha had somehow swiped a half drank bottle of vodka from a passerby.
“I’m not drunk enough for a Stark party.” She tossed the cap and gulped down the clear liquid. You winced wondering if it burned her throat. She didn’t seem fazed.
“Where’s the bathroom?” You called to Peggy. She pointed you up the stairs and to the right, and informed you that they’d probably be outside.
You slipped away and took the dark hardwood steps up to the second floor. There were people in the hallway chatting, a couple aggressively making out, and a girl was already crying about God knows what. You slipped into the bathroom thankful there’s wasn’t a porno scene occurring. You locked the door and sighed, closing your eyes for a moment. This party was a little more extreme then previous house parties you had been too For starters, the house. Never in your life had you been in a place so colossal. There were probably a zillion rooms you hadn’t visited. But the vibe was the same. The party really wasn’t that bad. Everyone so far was decent, there wasn’t any unnecessary fights with testosterone filled boys to prove their manhood. You looked in the bottom of your cup seeing less than a sip left. Natasha had made you three of these and each time they got better; you felt pretty good. You checked yourself in the mirror before exiting the bathroom.
Finding your way to the backyard was less than a task and you weren’t even surprised seeing a ginormous pool, hot tub, and tables set up for flip cup and beer pong. There were a sea of people surrounding the area. Honestly, was the whole teenage population of Valhalla in Tony Stark’s backyard?
You began to search again, avoiding being smacked with a blown up beach ball and smushed by bodies. The smell of marijuana was potent, thick clouds as you passed a group of stoners. Your phone vibrated twice with an incoming text.
Peggy Carter: Where are you?
You squeezed passed two sweaty, drunk bodies and fumbled with your phone. You hit reply, letters incorrect as you tried to tell her that you were by the hot tub. You were struck forcefully in a head on collision. You bounced back, falling into a few people. The front of you was entirely soaked with beer; face dampened and phone flown from your hands.
“What the fuck?”
A kind stranger had brought you back onto your feet. You were drenched. You looked up seeing two guys, one appearing to be less than amused with the situation. He was clad in a letterman’s jacket, short coiffed hair and he smelled of beer and booze.
“Watch where you’re fucking walk!” You shouted at him.
“You talkin’ to me?”
“Let me see: douchebag who spilled his drink on me… Yeah I'm talking to you.”
Now he was intrigued. A smug lopsided grin was pulling at his lips. “What’s your name, dollface?”
“Fuck you.” You cursed, snatching your phone from the too perfect lush grass.
“You gotta at least buy me dinner first. I ain’t cheap,” he quipped. He took a moment to explore your chest. “The wet t-shirt contest doesn’t start for another ten minutes but I think we already have a winner.”
His pathetic and gross comment got a few howls from other guys. Some people had their phones in hands, some whispering and pointing. You were on display; a pedestal that you really didn’t want to be on tonight especially like this. Your clothes were soggy, reeking of beer and now you were in a foul mood. You immediately removed yourself from the entire situation and attempted to cover your body with your arms. Okay, this party turned out fucking awful.
You could hear him call after you with a mixture of laughter and profanity. Peggy’s voice echoed through the street. You wanted to stomp home but she hadn’t done anything wrong. Your pace slowed and Peggy’s sandals slapped against the pavement to catch up.
“Are you alright? I am so sorry.” Peggy was frowning, taking in your poor appearance.
“You didn’t do anything,” you shook your head, letting out a half hearted laugh in hopes she’d let it go. “Go back to the party. Don’t worry about it.”
“It’s okay…” Peggy shifted. Something in her own eyes looked sad about something else. “Wasn’t having too great of a time and now I’d rather watch a movie and eat pizza.”
You wanted to ask her what happened, but the look in her eye said not to. So you began to walk again, motioning for Peggy to follow. “What’s a good pizza place around here? We’ll get extra cheese on them.”
Before you knew it, the first day of school approached and like all the years before, you were plagued with nerves. You tacked it up to be that this was the final year before the rest of your life, as your mother would say anyway. And it was a new school. But you had Peggy, and possibly Natasha. You weren’t too sure but you think she liked you, Peggy said she did. There was no real dress code minus the banishment of spaghetti strapped shirts and short shorts, so you were pretty safe clothing wise. Shorts and a t-shirt were going to work perfectly. You tugged on a t-shirt that dipped pretty low. Your chest wasn’t out on display but there was visible minimal cleavage apparent. Slowly your face faltered, remembering the wet t-shirt comment that asshole had made. It shouldn’t have affected you, yet here you were flinging out t-shirts that covered your skin more.
Shoes on and backpack zipped, you were out the door. Peggy was waiting at the corner, waving as you approached. She took you on the quick route to school chatting the entire way. The school grounds were absolute mayhem: parents dropping off their kids, freshman already lost and confused, bundles of students crowding the parking lot and stairs. You stuck to Peggy closely when you headed in through the front doors. She lead you to your locker and made sure you got into it okay.
“So your history class will down the hall, turn right and it’s the third door. English Lit on the second floor, then I’ll see you at lunch.”
You yanked open the blue painted metal door, slipping off your bag and took out some notebooks. “Thanks, Peggy, for everything.”
She smiled, waving it off. “Don’t be late for lunch!”
You sorted out your locker when Peggy left, taking out your notebooks for the first two classes. This high school was a lot more boisterous compared to your previous one. You glanced around observing your now peers crowding the hallway. Suddenly the students parted like the red sea. Your brows furrowed at the scene; students squishing themselves against each other and lockers. There were a group of four boys clad in Valhalla Panthers letterman jackets. You blinked a few times trying to figure out if they were actually walking in slow motion or if you had seen way too many shitty teen movies. You could practically hear Thin Lizzy’s The Boys Are Back in Town playing. The boy in the front was blonde, had nearly perfect skin, and a model’s jawline that could cut someone. His smile was angelic.
The one on his left had Denzel eyes, a toothy grin and confidence that oozed from him. He stood tall, upper body fit and well built. Tall, dark, and handsome was an understatement. The farthest one appeared slightly older, had a sloppy smile but overall didn’t appear to care too much. He had some rips in his jeans, converse dirty and drumsticks tucked into his back pocket. Then it was him: douchebag boy from Stark’s party. Immediately resentment bubbled in your stomach and you wanted to lay a firm punch against his jaw to knock off his stupid Ray Bans he was wearing inside. You turned away, not bothering to stare any longer.
You gathered your supplies and checked the time: two minutes until the bell rang. You shut the door, startled by douche boy resting against the lockers. He remove his sunglasses, looking at you. “You’re the girl from the party right? The one I said should win the—“
“What do you want?” You latched on the padlock and began to stalk away. He was quick, keeping in time with your pacing.
“I wanted to apologize,” he started. You scoffed. “Honest. Look I was a fucking jerk. I was drunk and didn’t even know what I was saying. Sometimes I say stupid shit.”
He fixed his immaculate coiffed hair which you knew he spent more than five minutes on. You didn’t care for his apology or whatever else he had to say. The bell rang and kids started to scatter. “You done? I gotta go to class.”
You darted away, going into your history class. You were one of the first ones in, taking a seat in the third row by the window. He followed, persistent as hell and occupied the seat next to yours. You shot a glare.
“I don’t care for your apology so you can get lost and go to class.”
He chuckled, setting his sunglasses on the desktop and took out a pen from his pocket. “This is my class.”
“Fuck off.”
You weren’t in the mood for boys and their desperation for a girl’s attention. It was pathetic and he seemed pretty dense.
“You think I’m jokin’?” He flipped open his spiral spine notebook and took out a folded piece of paper handing it to you. You snatched it, unfolding it. Low and behold there it was, first period AP American History in room 109.
When was the deadline to switch classes?
You also couldn’t help but notice he had AP Physics in the afternoon. Your forehead crinkled at the thought that this guy who made a sexist comment could have some intellect. There was no fucking way.
The door slammed shut causing you to jolt at the sudden noise. You dropped the paper back down on the boy’s desk catching his facial expression flounder. His shoulders became rigid and he looked pissed off.
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath, grumbling to himself.
Your attention turned back to the older man who wore a grey suit. Chalk screeched down the board with the name MR A. PIERCE in all capitals. The room’s chatter was quickly tabled as he turned around and surveyed the classroom. He unbuttoned his suit and stuck his hands into his pants beginning to pace behind his desk.
“As you can see, I am not Mr Phillips. Due to an accident, I will be your teacher for this semester. If you think this class is going to be watching movies and filling in the blank sheets, you may leave. If you think in this class you can sit and gossip with your friends, you may leave. If you think you can slide by and not do any homework, you can leave now.”
The room was pin drop silent. Mr Pierce continued to pace. “This is the start of your final year. I will not tolerate anything below a seventy-five percent average.”
The boy shifted in his seat next to you, more muttering and swears.
“Do we have a problem. Mr Barnes?” Pierce called out.
His eyes narrowed, a firm grip on his pen. “No sir.”
“Excellent. Let’s begin.”
Barnes was out of his seat the second the bell rang. You packed up your books and shook your head. The class wasn’t that bad, but Pierce was intimidating as hell. English Lit flew by in what seemed like minutes. The cafeteria was packed like sardines and you were glad to get your food and head outside. Peggy had sent you a text letting you know she was sat at round table on the east end. You found her easily this time, sitting down with a sigh.
“Going alright?” She asked. Peggy had some books open already highlighting and underlining. You shrugged, picking at your food.
Natasha came with a huff, sitting down on your other side. Her bag dropped to the ground and she set her tray on the table. “First day of school and I already want to stab Clint for telling the same story fifty times.”
Peggy smiled, jotting something down in her notebook. “Didn’t even last five minutes at their table.”
“Not sitting with us today Romanoff?”
You glanced up seeing angelic boy. Perhaps it was the sun but you swore their might have been a halo floating over his perfect head. He had one hand shoved into the front pocket of his jeans, a relaxed posture. His shirt looked too tight under that jacket.
“Choosing to sit with people who aren’t talking about Katie Bishop for the umptheenth time.”
He chuckled, shaking his head before looking at you. “We’re in Coulson’s English Lit together right? I think I was sitting in front of you. I’m Steve.”
Angel boy had a name: Steve. Steve Rogers, in fact. You gave him a kind smile, introducing yourself. Then the dynamic changed. Peggy was trying not to chew on her pen, shielding her eyes away from Steve as he turned to her.
“Hey Pegs,” he greeted sweetly. “Classes going okay?”
“You know…” Peggy shrugged casually. “They’re as good as they can be.”
Steve was nodding along to every word, shifting his weight from leg to leg. You looked between the two as silence formed amongst the background chatter. High suspicious.
“Hey Cap!”
Steve broke his eye contact with Peggy to see one of his friends waving him over. “I’ll see you guys later.” He waved, parting ways to the table under the large oak tree.
“Jesus Christ,” Natasha laughed. “You both are so dense.”
You looked at Peggy, brows arched. She straightened up, shaking off the simple (yet impactful) conversation she had with Steve. She wasn’t going to budge so you switched gears. “Why do they call him Cap?”
“Steve’s the quarterback of the football team, the captain, hence the nickname Cap,” Peggy explained. “So, Sam Wilson, they guy sitting on his left is one of his best friends. Genuine person, good for talks. Runningback on the team. Then there’s Clint--”
“Ugh.” Natasha joked.
Peggy laughed. “Clint’s actually doing senior year again due to an incident that shall not be named. He’s a guard, also plays the drums. And then--”
“Douchebag boy from the party.” You muttered. “He’s in my history class.”
Peggy frowned. “Bucky. He’s really not that bad once you get past, well, everything. He’s Steve’s best friend since they were kids. Wide Receiver, probably the best in the state.”
You glanced over. Their table was a little rowdy with the boys talking and some girls joining. Bucky caught your gaze and held you for a moment, tipping his head with a smile in a hello. Your eyes rolled and you saw him laugh. Clint patted Bucky’s shoulder and he got up from the table, sticking a cigarette in between his lips as he walked off to the smoker’s pit near the student parking.
“Two things to know: One, football is the only thing driving this town. And two, they’re treated like royalty. While some of them have egos, perks of knowing them aren’t so bad.” Natasha’s information was interesting.
You recalled that this team was five-time champions, so yeah, there was bound to be some small town fame to it. Besides, you didn’t have to be friends with Bucky.
Days seemed to roll on, but the first two weeks went by in the blink of an eye. Peggy had gotten you to join the Yearbook committee that met twice a week after school. It was something to look good on paper for whatever the future held. Steve had become your buddy in English Lit which made the boring class a little less dull. Bucky was still, well, Bucky. The title of douchebag was still crowned to him but it wasn’t as bad. Perhaps you got good at ignoring him or you just didn’t care. He was still persistent as ever to try and talk. According to Natasha via Sam, Bucky had made it his goal to try and make it up to you. Whatever the hell that meant. You wanted no part of it.
Peggy was staying late after Yearbook meeting on a Thursday. You gathered your things and headed out, dreading the essay you had to write for Pierce’s class that was due on Monday. You hadn’t been hit with so much work for one class in your life. Sure, it was nearing October and there was no more time for relaxing but Pierce was a heavyweight teacher. You sighed, pushing open the side doors to start on home. At least it was pizza night for dinner.
You jogged down the steps and detoured to the sidewalk. Your name was called and you glanced over your shoulder seeing none other than Bucky. He flicked the end of his cigarette before taking long strides to catch up.
“How was Yearbook?” He asked easily.
“Stalking me, Barnes?”
He laughed. “Nah, Peggy’s in the club and Steve told me you joined too. Plus, practice just ended so I was on my way home.”
You nodded. “Well, goodbye.”
“Wait! I wanted to ask you something,” Bucky gently tugged at your elbow. You breathed out, stopping to look at him. You were impatient, blinking to indicate you didn’t have all day. “First game of the season is tomorrow. Are you going to come watch?”
You scanned over Bucky’s face. It appeared to be a genuine question, no hidden agenda and his expression was neutral. He was curious.
“Don’t know. Might have other plans.”
“Well, if you change your mind, we all go out to eat after so you’re welcomed to join us. Happy Hogan’s has the best burgers.” Bucky took a step back, finished with his spiel. “Think about it.”
He walked backwards momentarily, fishing car keys from his pocket. You lingered as he climbed into a granite coloured Jeep Wrangler. He peeled off shortly after, heading west. Peggy had spoken to you earlier about the game tomorrow night and before you could even reply she was making plans to carpool and pick up Natasha along the way. It was settled before you could think.
Peggy was in her father’s car at 6:15pm. You grabbed your jean jacket and shrugged it on before getting in the passenger's seat. Her exterior was giddy. You hadn’t taken Peggy as being a football fan but you had a small hunch as to why she was in a smiley mood. Natasha was waiting at the end of the driveway, climbing into the backseat with her upper half clad in a leather jacket.
The parking lot at school was filled. Peggy managed to find a spot next to science wing of the building. You took in the exterior of the night. It was dusk and the flood lights of the field were switched on. It illuminated the entire field as well as the grandstands. The scoreboard was lit up: VISITOR VS PANTHERS and a countdown timer until official kick off. You followed Peggy and Natasha, crossing in front of the Panthers cheerleaders. You didn’t know details, but you knew Natasha had been a cheerleader up until the middle of junior year. There was an altercation with another girl that got her suspended for three days and kicked off the team. A few girls whispered as she passed by.
Luckily there was some room on the bench in the third row. Peggy sat in the middle with you on her left. The left side of the field was blank while the right had the town rivals, Ria High Kronans, warming up. The wind was cool, blowing around the spectators. It was nearing seven. The music from the surrounding speakers lowered in volume and antipatiation built up. In the far corner a bustle of fog erupted from the locker room entrance. The trusty Panther mascot cut through the fog, pretending to sneak around and quiet down the crowd with a finger to the mouth of the panther head. Everyone seemed to oblige. Slowly music started to build up and the panther started to count down with his large paw from five, four, three, two… The panther raised his arms up and the crowded exploded with cheers.
Here are your five time state champions, the Valhalla Panthers!
More cheers and whistling. The team barrelled through the fog and onto the field; a cluster of boys being praised by townsfolk. It was like Natasha had said: this town was driven by football. A song picked by Sam Wilson was playing as their pump up track. Sam along with Steve, Bucky, and Clint walked to the center of the field with the giant panther logo. They were met with four Ria players and a referee for the coin toss.
Peggy breathed out slowly. “Let’s hope it doesn’t end in a fight.”
Brock Rumlow was the quarterback for Kronans. There was definitely hostility and egos between the two teams. The coin flipped and it appeared that the Panthers had first possession of the ball. The ref walked off but the boys lingered. Sam backed off first, then Clint. Bucky and Rumlow seemed to exchange some words with Steve having to yank on Bucky’s jersey to fallback.
Steve let go of Bucky, shaking his head and Bucky shrugged his shoulders. Clearly Bucky was an instigator. Peggy straightened up as Steve glanced over to the stands. She wiggled a few of her fingers at him and gladly, Steve waved in return. You turned to look at her, Natasha snickering on her other side.
“Not a word from either of you.” Peggy instructed.
It was pretty obvious after the first day of school that Peggy and Steve were smitten. Even worse that it had been nearly three years and nothing had happened. You smiled to yourself, laughing on the inside. It was going to be an interesting four quarters.
You were quick to register who everyone was. Steve was number four, Clint sixty-nine (this was more of a joke than anything else to him), Sam twenty-three and Bucky ten. The audience knew the cheers by heart, stomping their feet and clapping their hands. You nearly covered your ears when Bucky was running down the sidelines, wide open, and caught a 30-yard pass from Steve.
Touchdown: Panthers, #10: Bucky Barnes.
The victory was given to Valhalla, score of 21-10. Admittedly, it was an exhilarating game to watch. And you quite liked the small town vibe of people coming together to be one. You could feel the rush and excitement from the atmosphere, even finding yourself fully into the game and learning the cheers. Honestly? You sort of couldn’t wait for the next home game.
People descended from the stands and poured out into the field and parking lot. Peggy and Natasha had a spot by the field gate where they’d wait for the boys. You sat on top of the picnic table and watched the flood of cars exit the school.
“Rumlow was going to fucking deck you!” Sam laughed.
You glanced over seeing the boys walking out of the doors. Bucky had his head down, short dark hair wet and messy. He had a cheeky smile and a cool surface, both hands shoved into his pockets with his gym bag over his shoulders.
“We goin’ go Happy’s? Fuckin’ starving.” Clint slumped down next to Natasha, leaning his head back.
“Holding back big burly boys makes you hungry?” Nat asked.
Clint smirked, “Famished.”
Bucky parked himself next to you, adjusting the strap of his bag. “Looks like you changed your mind.”
“Couldn’t say no to Peggy,” you shrugged. “Plus it was a free ride.”
He hummed in response. He had a lingering gaze and you felt slightly heated, quickly glancing away at Sam who sat down. “I’m glad you came.” Bucky replied sincerely. “Next time if you need a ride, let me know.”
Your lips parted but nothing came out. Instead there was a collective decision to go to Happy’s before it got packed. The boys headed to Bucky’s Jeep and you gathered back into Peggy’s car.
“Careful where you tread. Waters rougher than it looks.” Nat nudged your ribs.
Your brow rose, puzzled with her words. “What do you mean?”
Natasha was silent, only a smirk gracing her red lips as she slipped into the passenger’s seat. Your head shook, getting into the backseat. As far as you were considered, you were on the shore watching everyone from the sand.

New Beginnings
New Beginnings
masterlist
summary: Peter Parker x reader. It’s Y/N’s first day at Midtown High, after being home schooled her whole life. She meets an old friend and a new one. Can’t be that hard right?
word count: 1650
warnings: none :)
a/n: This is a collab with my friend @barnesvogue xx
“Remember, if anyone comes too close, just hit ‘em like I taught you, alright?”
Bucky stared at you, waiting for a sign that you understood.
You rolled your eyes. “Yes, dad.”
“Or just tell them your dad is the Winter Soldier.”, Steve mumbled.
Bucky’s eyes shot to Steve. “You’re not going to support me on this one?”
Steve smiled faintly. “It’s High School, Buck, she’ll be fine.”
“Yes, I will be. And if I may remind you, it was you, who said I needed to go to High School because ‘it’s a valueable life experience’.” You got up.
“Where are you going?” Bucky dropped his bread.
“I need to get ready!”, you whined. “And don’t give me any of that ‘you’re beautiful bla bla’, just trying to make a good impression.”
“'Cause you’re beautiful just the way you are…”, Steve hummed.
Chuckling, you raced up the stairs.
Twenty minutes later, you were ready to go. You had chosen your favourite outfit and put on some light makeup.
When you came back down, Steve and Bucky were still eating. “How long do you two grandpas need for breakfast?”
Bucky glared at you and even Steve looked a bit offended. Bucky set down his knife and fork, he had moved on from the bread and was now eating scrambled egg. “Well darling, Thor finally sent us his workout plan and Clint gave us a meal plan to go along with it.”
You raised one eyebrow.
“We’re just trying to get back in shape.”, Steve mumbled, blushing.
Your eyes went wide and your mouth fell open. “What?” You burst out laughing. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard all day!”
“It’s not even 8 a.m.”, Bucky said.
“Exactly!” You walked over to your parents and squatted down between them. You squeezed them together as best as you could. “You don’t need to get back in shape. I love you, even if you got a bit chubby!”
Bucky looked like he was going to kill you. That look would’ve sent anyone else running. But not you. You pinched his cheek. “You know I’m just kidding.” You stood back up. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go to school.”
“I’ll drive you.”, Steve and Bucky said in unision.
You gave a deep breath and walked to the big steps of Midtown High. Of course you were nervous after being homeschooled your whole life. Kids were rushing inside.
You figured you would hurry because you needed time to find your locker. You took the slip of paper from your pocket and read.
Barnes-Rogers, Y/N Locker: Locker 427
You folded the paper and put it back inside your pocket. “427…” You mumbled as you walked around the halls. People were talking with each other. You caught a few words about a Homecoming dance in a week.
You finally came across your locker in between a couple of boys. You pushed your way through and entered the code. Inside was empty and a bit dusty. You took out the books in your bag and kept the ones you needed.
You were just about to go to your first class when a hand stopped you. Your brunette father’s warning suddenly rang in your mind. You quickly gripped their wrist and yanked it. “Hey!” You heard a female voice yell.
You turned your head and looked at the person. It was a girl, with curly dark brown hair and chesnut coloured skin. She looked familiar. “MJ?” You said in confusion. Her eyes looked sleepy but she smiled at you.
“Y/N.” She adressed as she let go of you. “Um, sorry about that.” You apologized awkwardly. “Yeah no problem. You couldn’t hear me.” Michelle shrugged. “It’s been a while.” She smirked. “Yeah… I didn’t know you went here.”You stammered. Michelle Jones was your neighbour until you had to move away.
She had always intimidated you, but she was harmless. Just another typical, sarcastic teen. “Well, I came here about a year ago.” She said while the two of you started walking. You chuckled to yourself at the memory of you two drawing things on the sidewalk with chalk.
Just then, a shoulder bumped into yours which caused you to fall down on your bum. “I-I’m so sorry!” You heard a boy’s stammer. So much for a first day. You opened your eyes to MJ and a brunette male. MJ looked like she was about to laugh while the other kid had a look of pure horror on his face. He let out a hand and you gladly took to help yourself up.
The boy was blushing with embarrassment. “I’m really sorry about that! I should have looked where I was going.” He stuttered, gripping his bag’s strap so hard that his knuckles almost turned white. “No! No it’s fine!” You reassured as you shook off some dust. A few other people were snickering. “I’ll leave you two here.” Michelle whispered in your ear. “No, I don’t know where-” But she already dashed off. “I-I’m Parker Peter.” He smiled sheepishly. Then a wave of realization hit him. “I meant Peter Parker.” He lightly chuckled. He blushed even more.
“I’m Y/N.” You held out your hand and he shaked it. “Are you new here?” He asked. “Uh, yeah. Do you know where Mr. Harrison’s calculus class is?” You told him, not taking your eyes off the slip of paper. “Oh, yeah! That’s my first class too!” He exclaimed. “Um, do you want me to walk you? If you want.” Peter bit his lip. You thought about it. Couldn’t hurt right? “Sure.” You smiled as the two of you began walking to the class.
Five hours later:
This had been a truly stupid idea. Bucky admitted that himself. Not to Steve though. No, he would never.
“Rock, paper, scissors.” Steve looked down at their hands. “Damn it! I lost again!”
Bucky chuckled. “I spy with my little- Y/N!” He pointed outside the window. “Who is that guy?!”
Steve’s gaze shot to where Bucky was pointing. “It’s the spideyboy!”, he exclaimed.
Bucky threw open the car door. “I’m going to kill that-”
Steve grapped his arm. “Don’t make a scene. You’ll just embarass her!”
Bucky swallowed hard. “You are right. I will wait until he is somewhere less public.”
“That’s not what I meant.” Steve rolled his eyes.
The day ended with you hanging out with Peter. Michelle had gone off somewhere which left you with him as your guide. You found out he was super smart and funny too. You also found out he had a mega huge crush on a senior girl, Liz Allan. The both of you walked out of the school together. Peter had laughed at something you said. “Maybe we should hang out more.” He laughed while you agreed. “Yeah.” You shifted your stance so you were facing him. “Well I better get going. I’ll see you tomorrow?” Peter smile got even bigger. “Yes, of course!” He practically burst. He’s such a dork.
“That’s great then.” You started walking away. “Bye!” He gave a wave. “Bye!” He called out. You looked back and saw him do what looked like a victory dance. You rolled your eyes and took a turn. Time to teach your super soldier parents a lesson about stalking their teenage children.

“Thrust the sole of your foot towards the attacker’s knee to incapacitate him or her, buying you enough time to run….” Bucky demonstrated what he was talking about with one of the older members of the group in the room, a 17 year-old male, before explaining exactly why it was effective. “It is a simple enough move that anyone can do but it gives you a higher rate of being able to get away because unlike the face and groin area the knee is nearly impossible to block….” A smirk tugged at his features as the male fell onto the mat beneath them. “….and people generally need a working set of legs to chase someone down.”
It had taken little over a year for Bucky to get to the point where he felt he could socialise properly in public. They knew who he had once been but they were also aware as to why he had done the things he had, no one feared him as much as they had done during his time as the Winter Soldier and eventually they even came to accept him as part of The Avengers. All of which worked well when he decided he needed to so something more productive with his free time…self-defence classes for vulnerable teens.
New York City seemed to be full of them and given the amount of trouble Steve always seemed to get himself into as a kid, starting fights he could never physically finish, he wanted to offer the one thing he never had done for his best friend (mainly because he always made sure that he was the one who finished the fights for him) and that was to teach them how to defend themselves. The moves he taught were not so that they could go out onto the streets and start fights, he made that perfectly clear from the start, but so they could avoid being hurt themselves or even being taken.
The majority of the kids in the room were from care homes, lived in foster families, and had such broken childhoods that they found themselves in constant trouble with the cops and hanging about on the streets. They had all spoken to him about the problems they had faced, were facing, but there was one in particular who hadn’t spoken much since joining the class…..you.
You were the quietest kid in the class and although he would put the majority of his focus on delivering the lesson for that week he couldn’t help but glance over at you every now and then. When the whole group were copying the moves he had shown you would join in, trying to perfect it, but when people started to pair off to practise them on one another you would slink into the far corner of the gym and sit away from everyone and just watch as they continued with the lesson.
“Everything okay [y/n]?”
At the end of the class he wandered over to you before you could leave the building and sat himself onto the bench next to you as you gathered your things together. Aside from giving him your name when you signed up to his class you had never spoken to your teacher before and so immediately your nerves started to attack you. Your right hand pulled at the long sleeve of your top, pulling the fabric down over the knuckles on your left hand as your cheeks radiated a deep crimson colour.
“Everyone…..everyone else in the room is so good that I….I get nervous whenever we need to pair up. I don’t want to look like a failure.”
“You will never look like a failure [y/n]. Even if you don’t perfect the moves I show you the fact that you are trying to do them is all that matters.”
The smile that turned up his lips was soft and genuine, and before you could even stop yourself you found a smile making its way onto your face too in response but it didn’t last long as a sad sigh escaped your lips.
“I know but I really need this Mr Barnes. It’s important to me.”
“First of all call me Bucky, please, ‘Mr Barnes’ makes me sound like my dad.” A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he tried to lighten the mood a little but when he saw that the look on your face as still a saddened expression he cleared his throat and went back to being a little more serious. “If it’s that important to you then I will offer your personal one-on-one lessons okay?”
Your face lit up at his suggestion.
“You would really do that?”
“Yes. Under one condition though….you need to speak to me during our lessons.”
* * * * * * * * * *
“Don’t try to beat the wrist hold by pulling away from me [y/n]….” Bucky had just one hand wrapped around your left wrist and no matter how much you tried to yank it out of his grip it didn’t even so much as loosen. The grip he used wasn’t enough to hurt you but with the bruising that was covering said wrist it was proving more painful than normal and you weren’t really thinking about what you were doing when you were just desperate to get your wrist away from where he could have seen it….luckily at this moment in time his eyes were trained on yours far too much to look down at it. “…rotate your wrist so that your thumb lines up with where my thumb meets with my fingers and then jerk sharply by be-“
His words had stopped and straightaway you knew he had seen the very thing you had been trying to hide because his eyes had only drifted down as he readied himself to show you what he meant but they never came back up. Instead they darkened when they fell upon the bruising.
“Please let go.”
Your words came out sounding far weaker than you had wanted them to but already the tears were filling your eyes, threatening to pour out, and your emotions were reaching a point where you were finding them harder to control.
“Oh my god [y/n] I didn’t mean to hurt you….if I’d have known those bruises were there I would never have used that move on you.” Bucky felt terrible. He knew he hadn’t put them there himself but he would have aggravated them with the hold he’d had on you. “Where did you get them?”
His hand had released your wrist by now and once you were free you took a few steps away from him until the backs of your legs hit a nearby bench and you found yourself falling onto it. Almost like standing up had been the only thing stopping your tears the second you hit the bench they all burst through, cascading down your cheeks, and Bucky’s heart dropped at the sight.
Although he was hardly an expert when it came to dealing with emotional people his protective instinct kicked in and he was by your side in seconds. He didn’t get a chance to say anything to you though because it was at that moment you spilled everything out to him.
“My dad…he…he drinks a lot ever since he lost his job.” It was hard for your words to come out in a coherent manner given the sobs that were happening between each one but you fought the onslaught of tears back as best you could while you spoke to him. “…my mom walked out on him because of it but she-she didn’t take me with her. Everyone always said how much I looked like him so I tell myself that she simply didn’t want the reminder of what he did to her every day.”
“What does he do to you [y/n]?”
“Stuff which means I need to learn how to defend myself which is why I came to you. You’re an Avenger. If anyone knows about this stuff it’s you.”
“What does he do to you?”
He repeated his previous questions, the tone he used more forceful this time, he could feel the anger growing inside of him already but unless you told him exactly what happened there wasn’t much he could do for you. For the briefest of moments, it looked like he was about to find out when the door to the gym slammed open so hard it was a miracle the glass didn’t smash out of it.
“[Y/N]!” You didn’t even need to look up to see who it was because that voice fuelled your nightmares each time you fell asleep. It made you dread putting a foot out of place and, most of all, it had ripped away any chance you’d ever had of a normal, loving, family. The 6-foot-tall man, built like a brickhouse, ignored the fact that Bucky was even in the room as his fingers wrapped around the top of your arm so tight that they were already forming more bruises to appear on your skin. “You should have been outside ten minutes ago! Now move!”
He pulled you harshly off the bench meaning that you quickly had to snatch up your bag otherwise it would have been left behind (which would have been another reason for your dad’s hand to meet with your face that night) and although Bucky stood himself up you were out of the gym before he was even able to do or say anything.
When he found himself left alone in the gym he clenched both of his fists repeatedly as his chest rose and fell heavily. His eyes darkened to a dull shade of his usually bright blue eyes.
He hadn’t felt anger this strong in a long time.

SMACK!
THUD!
You had barely even stepped a single foot through the door when you felt your dad’s balled up fist hit you square on in the face. The force behind it was enough to send you flying back out onto the porch, your head hitting the wooden decking with a sickening thud.
“I give you times to be back for a fucking reason [y/n]! I expect you to abide by them!”
A pained groan escaped your lips and despite the pain you forced yourself to stand up and get back inside the house. You didn’t want the neighbours having to witness this and you knew he wasn’t going to help you up anytime soon. Once the front door was shut behind you he grabbed your ponytail and yanked your head back hard so that you had no choice but to look him in the eyes.
“Now what the fuck were you doing in a room alone with that man?! You turning into a slut just like your mother?”
“N-No I….he…..he’s my teacher.”
The fact that you had answered him at all, even if he had asked you a question, earned you yet another smack to the face. This one didn’t make you hit the floor though because before you did you felt a strong arm wrap around your waist, picking you back up onto your feet, before a glint of metal hit the corner of your eye as an arm swung for your dad and hit him so hard that you heard his jawbone shatter.
“You’re never going to lay a damn hand on your daughter again you piece of shit!” Bucky had witnessed the whole thing having followed the two of you back to yours. He hated the fact that he hadn’t managed to stop the second hit but he was damned if he was going to let anymore fall on you. “[y/n] pack a bag because I’m getting you out of here.”
There was a wave of protests from your dad, although no words were able to be spoken because the damage Bucky had inflicted upon him, he even charged at him hoping to get his own hit in but he was just greeted by the metal arm again only this time it wasn’t punching him it was wrapped around his throat and pinning him to the wall, giving you the time and space you needed to pack your things.
“You’re lucky I’m not ripping your head right from your neck. You don’t deserve to have her as a daughter!”
He scowled at Bucky which earned him an even tighter grip of his throat that threatened to constrict his airway completely. The urge to finish the job off was a hard one to resist and had you not come back down the stairs when you did he may well have even gone through it.
“Bucky….I’m ready. You can let him go now.”
Your voice was the only thing that really seemed to get through to him at that moment and when his eyes turned to look at your bruised and battered form he immediately released your dad before leading you out of the door. He didn’t want to give your dad any more time to hurt you.

You were resting up in the room Bucky had inside Stark Tower, both mentally and physically exhausted by the time you had arrived here, and the super soldier was now sitting at the kitchen table with the main man himself filling him in on everything.
“She can’t go back home Stark. She deserves protection and I want to be the one to give her that.”
“I know Barnes but there are so many legalities you will need to go through. Which for a guy who is 100 years old but only looks about 34 that is going to be an issue.”
“Then use your connections. Use the ridiculous amount of money you have to cut corners. She isn’t leaving this tower so either way she is going to be staying here. I would just rather we did it properly to avoid the cops turning up.”
A heavy sigh passed Tony’s lips once he realised that there was going to be no talking him down. He felt for you, he really did, and he could hardly deny refuge to someone who needed help so he only had one choice. Standing himself up from the table he placed a hand onto Bucky’s shoulder before giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“Give me a week, maybe two at the most, and she will officially be able to live here and you will be her guardian. Until then I will do my best to keep the police off our doorstep.”
For the first time in what seemed like forever a genuine smile lit up the soldier’s face as a wave of relief washed over him and he settled back into his chair. You were finally going to get the life you deserved and he was going to be the one that made sure of it.
