some thoughts, both positive and negative:
id like to start off by saying thanks, i really did enjoy this video! sorry for the essay length review. ill try to bold whats important for easier reading.
i gotta say im not a fan of the 'cringe' stuff here (and this is the only negative thing in this post that im intensely serious about). a lot of your fans are middle schoolers, and im worried some of them will take it personally. i probably would have if i were a middle schooler right now. id like to see a little bit of appreciation for the things you tried in middle school, terrible though your poetry may be. i think middle schoolers need to hear that the things they make are worthwhile even if they dont matter to anyone else. you dont have to feel good about your old poetry (i definitely hate mine), but itd be wonderful to see you encourage kids to feel good about their own work. this is a relatively small thing compared to the rest of the video, but it is something thats close to my heart, so thanks for listening if you read this.
i loved the visible stimming in this video. anxiety's hand flaps were good and so was patton's rocking back and forth as he listed off words. the puns are great too, as usual. i also loved how logan rapidly quoted that study
one thing thats been worrying me is it almost seems like you're trading artistic integrity for views. you seem to have a few gimmicks, and it sometimes keeps the videos from being more than superficially satisfying for me.
two examples of what i mean by gimmicks: - hinting at a relationship that you havent mentioned in other sanders sides videos. people who only watch sanders sides are gonna be curious now and some of them will watch your other videos to try and figure out whats up. i know youre trying to be genuine and sincere, but its not coming across for me. - mentioning that two sanders sides are preoccupied. im sure youre aware by now that people have ships for this, and all of the... patton/roman shippers are going to assume something was going on. this was definitely not as bad as it could have been, since they didnt come in together, but it still made me pull back from the story for a moment.
(both of these things are pretty nitpicky.)
some more things i liked: - you validated the fact that stuff that works for those with no anxiety doesnt always work for people who have it - all this nostalgia stuff was great. i loved the little details, because you mentioned really specific things that were still relatable. everyone has a song, for instance, that they still know all the words to, and everyone whos gotten past middle school probably does cringe at their middle school art or poetry (or maybe its just gays that write poetry in middle school? because all the nonqueers ive asked say they didnt write poetry. anyway, it's relatable for gay people, at least) - i liked how i could see anxiety's distress on his face as the video went on. that was very well done - i like how logan looks vvaguely like a human eridan ampora from homestuck, especially wwith your neww(ish) hair - i liked how you gave patton more depth. seeing him have feelings other than happy and positive was great - im usually indifferent to roman, but in this video i really appreciated how you did the facial expressions when he would claim he was just joking-- to me, it was obvious that he knows what he's saying is impossible/unrealistic, but he's not joking about wanting it. in general, you did a really good job showing how much the Mystery Relationship is affecting you. - talking about something this personal must have been a hard decision to make, and i dont want you to take my criticism to mean that you did it wrong. theres not really a right way to tell millions of internet strangers about heartbreak. i was just telling you the impression i got from it. - you started out with a reference to a musical that i can only assume will be called back for the second part to tie the two together. i havent listened to boys and dolls, but i am intrigued to see where it fits into this chapter of the story.
overall, i loved the video, just like i usually do. thanks for reading if you got this far.

Can looking back on the past help or hinder us? For many people, that can be sort of a complicated question. And in this video, I struggle with moving on from a very important part of my past. Is this a dilemma that can be worked out with the Sides? Or are the workings of the heart just too enigmatic? Hope you enjoy!
