It had took Michonne a lot of convincing to let you talk to Negan. But you needed closure, he killed your brother in front of you for fucks sake. Well that's the excuse you told her, in reality you had deep down forgiven him. So many people from all 3 communities refused to even mutter his name, it was a little far fetched of them in your opinion but you somewhat understood. You'll miss your brother for the rest of your life and his last words will always echo in your ears when you're trying to sleep. But Negan has been rotting in a cellar for years, people laughing and mocking him. You always heavily believed in the justice system before the world went to shit, if someone has served their time they should be forgiven.

You wipe the sweat off your hands as you stand before the door his enclosure is located in. Carefully you unlock the door and creak it open. Staring before him, the broken shell of the man you had feared for so long. You could tell he tensed up knowing exactly who you were. "What pleasure do I own this visit?" his rugged voice sends shivers down your spine. "You know who I am?" you nervously shift towards his cell. "Yeah" he sounds desperate and pitiful "Your the widows sister in law." "Maggie.. her name is Maggie." suddenly you regret coming here in the first place, shifting your weight between feet. "You come here to ridicule me? Tell me I deserved to die in that field? If you did save your breathe, I've heard it before, I don't care." he scoffs at you "Well, actually. I wanted to come here to tell you," you pause and wrap a hand around the barring of his cell "I forgive you." you watch his whole demeanor change in an instant. "I know the others aren't as forgiving but I believe everyone has rights for a second chance, I believe you served your time."

Unexpectedly, he drops to his knees in front of you, tears streaming into his salt and pepper beard. "You don't mean that, you hate me I know it!" he yells with a concerning amount of volume, causing you to kneel down to be the same level as him. "I don't. I did for a long time, but even more seeing you here. I feel nothing but pity for you. You did even wicked things but you don't deserve this." He stares at you blankly "I don't deserve your forgiveness, I killed your brother. You should be spitting at my feet." you reach through the bars and cup his cheek "I've forgiven you, why can't you forgive yourself?" he stands up and backs away from you, refusing your touch. "I hate the things you've done, but I don't hate you." you sigh

Getting off the ground you back away from his cell and walk towards the door without looking back, a wave of regret washes over you. "Y/N. Wait." he calls out, causing you to spin slowly on your heels. "Thank you. For forgiving me, for not hating me. I know it must be really hard, and I'm sorry." he mutters so low you can barely hear anything he is saying. You give it a moment to let his words really sink to your core. Smiling and nodding. You stare silently at the man who was broken beyond repair, a man who can't even forgive his own actions. You turn and leave. Praying deep down, he can see the man he is, isn't the man he has to be. Praying he will learn to forgive himself.

i am sorry but arat's execution was so fucking lame. the gang needed oceanside and they're a good ally but i do not like them. esp the stupid little girl in charge. and i am not really liking maggie much this season either. do one thing or the other ffs decide once and for all which way you want to go instead of dangling half cocked between two extremes. everyone wants to choose rick to avoid responsibility when it comes to it but then they keep going behind his back. a bunch of assholes, the whole lot of them. i also love how the rules bend to accommodate the gang but for everyone else they're the law. arat was RIGHT. simon would have killed her and things were different then. now is now. THATS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT! like out of all the saviors her and that blonde girl laura i think are the only ones who were fr. i hate how the gang gives every other despicable fuck multiple chances but not the people who truly deserve them. for the bitching they do about moving forward they sure like to deep throat the past a whole fucking lot. we will follow rick. oh no ricks rules aren't the only rules. then something goes wrong they go crying to rick and following him again only for the same fucking cycle to continue. BULLSHIT. no hindsight no nothing. a bunch of idiots. dumbasses like them won't last more than a few days if twd was real. also it was not really ricks place to let negan live in the first place because we all know how he gets when someone hurts his family. the writing for this show is un-fucking-real and in a bad way. also jesus was maggies moral compass when he didn't need to be all throughout season 8 and now he suddenly decides he can't say anything to her??? they're all hypocrites. they keep chasing their own tails like total dumbasses and can't make up their minds or be fr for shit.

guess who's FINALLY watched season 7 of the walking dead!!! it only took 8 years ahahahahahahahahahahaha (i was one of the people who stopped watching after season 6 </3 sdfghj)

my verdict is: absence makes the heart grow fonder. and after the shit that's being released these days (like 8 episode seasons), i actually really enjoyed a lot of this season. the slow pace is pretty refreshing. there were some bits that dragged on. but i can't overstate how much i hate the monstrosity of a mop on jadis...... it made me lose my mind when i watched the ones who live without context so imagine the horror i had when she showed up in season 7........ a few minutes into season 9 ep 1 and i am thinking maybe i should leave twd at season 8 like i saw the first two perfect seasons of la casa de papel and left it at that. bc i dont trust writers as a supernatural fan and i don't want want them to ruin the show for me. like, i honestly feel like season 8 was a perfect ending. and the new intro? wtf are all those crows for omg 😭

When you look back, Alpha was one of, if not the worst, villains of the series. Yes, Negan had a cult like following of his own, but he also claimed to value the living and routinely took what he wanted from the communities to have it for himself.

Meanwhile, Alpha was a scarily good mental manipulator and succeeded in forming a cult of her own. She traumatized her followers and had such control over them that Frances conceded to giving up her own infant son. When she learned of Hilltop and the other communities, she didn't want what they had. She wanted to completely obliterate everything in her path. She didn't want any of it. She just wanted it destroyed.

Robert Kirkman was talked about knowing when to escalate the antagonists in the story, and I think Alpha may have been the peak for the series.

And Negan just killed Alpha!!!! That's just why it became one of my favorites this season.

This ties a little bit into that verbal “i love you” question, but do you think Michonne saw Rick officially as her husband before or after he proposed in the woods? I ask because I’m also realizing we’ve never heard Michonne officially give Rick some type of label. Rick considered Michonne his wife for years at that point because I think he’s just more traditional. With Michonne, she never gave me the vibe that she cared too much about titles/labels ect.. Like did she see Rick more as a life partner than anything? Because calling him her boyfriend also just seemed too casual for their relationship lmao

Good question! Michonne wearing Rick’s wedding ring on her necklace during all the years Rick was away always makes me think that she did view Rick as her husband before he gave her a ring in TOWL. I think Michonne also knows that Rick is traditional and that he’d completely view her as his wife and so that likely contributed to her embracing that marital status even when he was gone.

Michonne is very much about actions over words, so I can see her having the mindset pre-ZA that being life partners is more important than just having labels, which could have contributed to her and Mike not being married. But I also never got the sense that she was ever opposed to marriage either. Especially with the way she finds meaningful connections to people she loves through items. I think it makes perfect sense that she’d cherish having a ring of her own from Rick to solidify their love and union. “Boyfriend” definitely felt too casual lol. I remember Negan refers to Rick as Michonne’s boyfriend in season 9 and by that point especially it just seemed like husband was the much more fitting term. 

But speaking of verbal “I love you's”, I was trying to think if I ever made a post about when I think Rick and Michonne might’ve first exchanged ily’s. I don’t think I did, so I thought maybe I can just write it here. Because I’m always interested in when people think Richonne's first ily was. For me, I really believe it would have happened before Negan’s reign. I also like the idea of it happening before the Negan era because one; I don’t think Rick and Michonne would wait long to say it and two; I’d hope their first I love you was exchanged during a time of peace rather than duress. 

I know I’ve seen some people think that the first time they said it was during Say Yes, but while I think it was definitely said on that honeymoon run I’d be shocked if that was the first time. Especially because I can totally see them saying I love you several times prior to 7.12, like when they had that cell heart-to-heart in 7.08. And I also don’t predict it happened their first night together in 6.10, even tho they both felt it strong enough to say it by then. There were so many firsts that night for them, that I like to think ily’s were saved for another time to have their own moment.

So long story short lol, my take on when I think Richonne first said ily is shortly after their canon ep during one of those mornings like the one in 6.15. I feel like Rick said it first and then Michonne said it with ease right after. To me, that time in between getting together and ending up in the lineup just feels like the right time, and every time I see this 6.15 scene I just always feel like 'I love you' has definitely been exchanged already. 🥰
