Star Wars Movie and TV Release Date Calendar
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
The future of Star Wars is secure. The end of the Skywalker Saga didn’t mean the end of the story of the galaxy far, far away. It just meant countless new possibilities, both on the big and small screens. In fact, Disney has already announced more than a dozen live-action and animated projects that explore other corners of the Star Wars universe, from adventures starring the brave X-wing pilots and clone troopers on the front lines of countless wars to tales of bounty hunters and even the Sith. And plenty more in between!
This post is where we’ll keep track of all the upcoming Star Wars movie and TV releases as they’re announced and release dates are set. Hit the links in each entry to read articles that tell you more about what you need to know about all these new Star Wars adventures!
Stream your Star Wars favorites right here!
First up are the movies but scroll down for TV release dates

Upcoming Star Wars Movies
Rogue Squadron
December 22, 2023
Director: Patty Jenkins
Disney confirmed during an Investors Day presentation in Dec. 2020 that the first Star Wars movie to follow The Rise of Skywalker is Rogue Squadron, a movie that “will introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.”
Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins will direct, making her the first woman to helm a Star Wars movie. We’re very excited about this!
Read more about Rogue Squadron here.
Untitled Taika Waititi Star Wars Movie
TBA
Director: Taika Waititi
Writer: Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns
After his stint directing (and voice acting) on The Mandalorian, Taika Waititi will return for a big screen offering!
“Taika’s approach to Star Wars will be fresh, unexpected, and
unique,” said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement in 2020. “His enormous talent and sense of humor will ensure that audiences are in for an unforgettable ride.”
There’s very little in the way of actual details right now, not even a release date yet, but we’ll be keeping a careful eye on this as it develops.
Untitled Kevin Feige Star Wars Movie
TBA
Writer: Michael Waldron
Marvel Cinematic Universe steward Kevin Feige has been the last decade building a multi-billion-dollar superhero blockbuster powerhouse for Disney, so it’s no surprise the House of Mouse is giving the producer a crack at its other big sci-fi franchise. Feige is developing a new Star Wars movie with Kathleen Kennedy, and Loki creator and head writer is penning the script. And that’s all we know about this sure-to-be-massive Star Wars picture.
Untitled J.D. Dillard Star Wars Movie
TBA
Director: J.D. Dillard
Writer: Matt Owens
Reports of a new Star Wars movie from Sleight director J.D. Dillard and Luke Cage writer Matt Owens first hit the internet in Feb. 2020. We don’t know much about this movie or when it’ll premiere. Could this be an exclusive Disney+ movie?
Read more about this movie here.
Rian Johnson’s Star Wars Trilogy
TBA
As far as we know, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is still working on his own Star Wars trilogy. All we know about these movies is that they will take place in previously unexplored areas of the Star Wars universe, and will kick off a brand new saga of films completely unrelated to the Skywalker story. We wrote in more detail about what that might mean for the franchise right here.
On the other hand, maybe Johnson’s recent comments about what a mistake it is to pander to fans are an indication that his relationship with Disney has soured. He also happens to be working on multiple sequels for a little franchise called Knives Out. Those are probably taking up a bit of his time, no? Read more about this new Star Wars trilogy here.
Upcoming Star Wars TV Shows
After the success of The Mandalorian, it should come as no surprise that there are way more Star Wars TV series coming to Disney+ in the next few years. Here’s what you have to look forward to

Visions
Sept. 22, 2021
Animation Studios: Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio, Studio Colorido, Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production IG
This new anime anthology series is one of the most unique Star Wars projects yet. Lucasfilm has brought in several big Japanese animation companies to produce their own takes on the galaxy far, far away. The nine short film collected in Visions cover many different corners of the universe, from tales about the Jedi and Sith to the adventures of a cute little droid, each with its own distinct art style. Boba Fett is in there, too! More like this, please.
Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales
Oct. 1, 2021
Director: Ken Cunningham
Writer: David Shayne
Starring: Jake Green as Poe Dameron; Raphael Alejandro as Dean; Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt; Tony Hale as Vaneé; Christian Slater as Ren; Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine; and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8
Loved last year’s Lego Star Wars Holiday Special and want more of that, please? No? Too bad. We’re getting more Lego Star Wars shenanigans this year, but this time Poe and BB-8 must confront the spooky season. The premise actually doesn’t sound all that bad: after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, Poe and his trusty droid must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet of Mustafar, where they’ll venture deep into Darth Vader’s old castle and encounter and ancient evil that must be stopped. Could be good!
The Book of Boba Fett
Christmas 2021
Executive Producers: Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni & Robert Rodriguez
Starring: Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen
Boba Fett is back and getting his own spin-off series set within the timeline of The Mandalorian. The show will also star Boba’s new partner, the deadly assassin Fennec Shand!
The Book of Boba Fett has wrapped filming and is slated to premiere in Christmas 2021. Robert Rodriguez, who directed Boba Fett’s return in The Mandalorian season 2, will exec produce alongside Favreau and Filoni.
The Mandalorian Season 3
2022
Executive Producers: Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Katee Sackhoff
The Mandalorian season 3 went into pre-production in 2020 and is set to film in Fall 2021, now that work on The Book of Boba Fett is complete. That means we won’t see this one until the second half of 2022 at the earliest.
The Bad Batch Season 2
2022
Director: Brad Rau
Writers: Jennifer Corbett & Matt Michnovetz
The Bad Batch is set directly after the events of Order 66. The rise of the Empire has led to the destruction of the Jedi, and as we learned in the first action-packed season, the imminent end of the clone army. Grand Moff Tarkin wants to replace the clones with a new, more obedient human army and Clone Force 99 isn’t too happy about it. Now on the run from the new galactic order, Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, and new member Omega must find their new place in a galaxy that no longer seems to want them.
The first season ended on a massive cliffhanger that could have huge implications for storylines coming up in the live-action universe. We can’t wait to see what season 2 has in store.
Read more about The Bad Batch here.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
2022
Director: Deborah Chow
Writer: Hossein Amini, Joby Harold
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie
Ewan McGregor is finally returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a series set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The Jedi Master has settled into his life as an exile on Tatooine, where he’s watching over Luke Skywalker from afar. Will his next adventure take him off-world or is he going to have to protect a defenseless village from raiders Toshiro Mifune style?
Here’s what we know about the plot: “The series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”
Hayden Christensen is returning to play Vader, which is very exciting!
Andor
2022
Writer: Tony Gilroy
Starring: Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, Kyle Stoller
There’s a Rogue One spinoff series starring Rebel secret agent Cassian Andor coming to Disney+! According to the press release, “The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.” This sounds very good.
This series was set to film in early 2020, but Covid-19 pandemic delayed the show. It finally wrapped filming in August 2021.
The Acolyte
TBA
Executive Producer & Writer: Leslye Headland
Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland is developing a new series called The Acolyte, which is set during the High Republic era, a time period that predates even The Phantom Menace. The series is said to be “female-centric” and seems to be a darker Star Wars story than what we’re used to seeing on screen.
Lucasfilm describes the show as “a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” Sounds intriguing!
We have some theories as to what the show could be about here.
Ahsoka
TBA
Executive Producers: Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni
Writer: Dave Filoni
Starring: Rosario Dawson
Described as a limited series that continues the story of Ahsoka Tano after the events of The Mandalorian season 2 episode “The Jedi,” Ahsoka will likely bring the beloved hero one step closer to finding her missing Jedi friend Ezra Bridger and taking down Grand Admiral Thrawn once and for all.
Rangers of the New Republic
TBA
Executive Producers: Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni
We don’t know anything about this show except that it’s set within The Mandalorian timeline and will “intersect with future stories and culminate into a climactic story event.” It sounds like Star Wars may be on its way to having its first big TV crossover.
That said, recent reports suggest this show’s been put on hold due to the dismissal of Gina Carano, who was said to star on the show as Republic marshal Cara Dune. At the very least, it’ll likely be a while before we finally see this one.
Lando
TBA
Writer: Justin Simien
The smoothest scoundrel in the galaxy is finally getting his own event series on Disney+. It’s currently unclear whether this series will follow the younger Lando played by Donald Glover or the original one played by Billy Dee Williams. Maybe it’ll star both?!
A Droid Story
TBA
This animated TV movie will follow C-3PO and R2-D2 as well as introduce a new hero to the Star Wars galaxy. That’s all we know at the moment!
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });

' The Mandalorian' Phase 4 Reaches Peak Infant Yoda In A Psychological Episode.
Cloning has actually been a part of Celebrity Wars considering that the very beginning, with the Duplicate Battles being discussed as early as A New Hope, but not described until Attack of the Clones. This bit of odd sciene is going through a renaissance of types, many thanks to follower concepts about Rey's orphan childhood as well as the return of Emperor Palpatine. That establishes that Force level of sensitivity can be moved to genetically similar people if Rey is a clone. Possibly one developed during the very same experiments that caused Rey? Or, it's feasible that Pershing demands this Child Yoda to start duplicating the types.
What animal is Yoda based on?
The Jedi Master Yoda was the best-known member of a species whose true name is not recorded. Known in some sources simply as Yoda's species, this species of small carnivorous humanoids produced several well-known members of the Jedi Order during the time of the Galactic Republic.
Moments later, Obi-Wan's ghost helps Luke concern the awareness that the "other" of whom Yoda spoke is Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), who is his twin sis. In the prequel trilogy, established a generation prior to the original trilogy, Yoda is among one of the most effective participants of the Jedi Order and also a general of clone troopers during the Clone Battles. He likewise trains all Jedi kids, before they are appointed a Jedi master.
Jedi Council Forums.
At the orgasm of the film, Yoda gets here in time to conserve Obi-Wan and also Anakin from the Separatists as well as defeats his former apprentice, Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), the Separatists' leader as well as a Sith lord, in a lightsaber duel. When Qui-Gon is mortally wounded in a duel with Sith Lord Darth Maul (played by Ray Park and articulated by Peter Serafinowicz), his dying demand to his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is that Anakin be trained as a Jedi. Obi-Wan, determined to accomplish his pledge to his master, tells Yoda that he will certainly train the boy, also without the Council's approval. Yoda makes Obi-Wan a Jedi Knight, and hesitantly gives his true blessing to Anakin's training.
Is Baby Yoda the chosen one?
No, we are not leaving Baby Yoda behind. Just when he's about to ditch his tiny ward and move on, another bounty hunter tracks him to the village, meaning it's no longer safe for either of them. So they both have to leave, and we will probably never see that pretty widow again.
Tumblr media
The Mandalorian found The Child, also known as Child Yoda, on a desert world called Arvala-7 that looked a great deal like Luke's childhood years residence of Tatooine. There's no sign that there are much more little Yodas around, so that's possibly not its varieties' residence globe, either. As a mechanic in Mos Eisley, Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) was assured to earn factors with "Star Wars" fans that fondly bear in mind Tatooine as the earth where all of it started.
Why is Yoda a baby in the Mandalorian?
There is a Reddit page dedicated to calling Baby Yoda "Yiddle", a nod to both Yoda and Yaddle, a female of the same species who appeared in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The Yiddle theory is that Baby Yoda is the product of Yoda and Yaddle.
youtube
Character introduction.
However mainly for his cuteness, improved by his diminutive size as well as expressive eyes and also ears.
For the longest time it seemed that Yoda was the only creature of his specific varieties, a sort of uniquely Force delicate creature.
The priestesses inform Yoda that his training will certainly return to in time.
Or perhaps Child Yoda as well as the mop child from completion of The Last Jedi are hanging around on Dagobah waiting to begin their training.
Component of the reason the episode 1 expose is so exceptional is that Lucas has actually long supported for keeping Yoda's varieties key. When whatever in Celebrity Wars is explained, the universe feels huge, yet it can also really feel rote. The Yoda types remains a component that can not be canonized, can not be commodified. It gestures at Celebrity Wars' dream influences while not going so far regarding straight-out discuss the inspiration behind the gesture.
Not much is known about Child Yoda's species, yet probably, at 76 years of ages it would certainly still need help getting around as well as making it through. The creature from The Mandalorian whomStar Warsfans adoringly call "Child Yoda" is not Yoda as a kid. We aren't even sure how, if in all, he relates to Yoda besides being within the exact same species.
Yoda's syntactic selfhood is evidently an outgrowth of the same internal tranquility that makes him such an effective warrior. Espindola believes that Yoda's speech is insane, however insane like an extremely type fox. This five-toed variation stays the least used in any type of manifestation of Celebrity Wars media. Adults of the species were identified by sharp, elfin ears, ridges on their temples, tridactyl hands and also (most typically) anisodactyl feet. The diet plan of the most renowned member of the varieties, Jedi Master Yoda, contained nutrient most other beings considered revolting.
Either way, this infant has the prospective to seriously change the material of Star Wars moving forward. That would be new area for Star Wars, but the post-Disney acquistion Star Wars cosmos has actually often experimented with the guidelines of the Force, so it's not impossible.
Why is Yoda 50 years old?
The final moments of the episode reveal the asset, who turns out to be super cute. The Internet has dubbed the adorable creature Baby Yoda because he or she bears a strong resemblance to the legendary Jedi master. As an ill-fated droid informs the Mandalorian, ñ€Ɠspecies age differently,ñ€ and Baby Yoda is a young 50.
Since making his debut in The Mandalorian in November 2019, Baby Yoda has been a feeling. A cuter, younger variation of the ancient Jedi master, he's one of one of the most endearing animals ever seen in the Star Wars world, as well as has since come to be the talk of the web-- a strolling retailing opportunity, as well as the source of wholesome memes. Celebrity Wars followers were thrilled concerning The Mandalorian the 2nd it was announced as the flagship program of Disney And also, but couple of might've predicted that Infant Yoda would certainly swipe the show. The initial live-action TV collection ahead out of the Star Wars world features an individual that dresses a whole lot like Boba Fett with his own fascinating background tale, but The Child, as he's known, is perhaps the real star. The 2008 animated movie and tv collection The Duplicate Battles makes use of a CGI model of Yoda that matches the one-off tridactyl plan from The Phantom Threat, with 3 forward-facing toes and a blunted heel.
Tumblr media
Build-A-Bear Workshop has actually likewise introduced it will certainly release a version of a Youngster doll in early 2020. Lego has announced plans for an August 2020 launch of BrickHeadz figures of both the Child and also the Mandalorian, in addition to a September 2020 release of a Lego set for the Mandalorian's Razor Crest spacecraf, which will include a tiny figurine of Child. In March 2020, an informal user-created mod for the video game Celebrity Wars Battlefront II allowed the personality BB-8 to be changed with a usable variation of the Kid. The Kid as well as the Mandalorian are the only personalities that have appeared in every episode of the collection. He was produced by The Mandalorian designer as well as showrunner Jon Favreau based upon his wish to discover the mystery around Yoda as well as his varieties.

Thirty abstract figurative oil paintings explore what successful people are willing to put themselves through in order to succeed
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
BRIT artist Lincoln Townley today announces he has sold out his ‘Behind The Mask’ collection which is showing at  the world famous La Biennale exhibition in Venice.
The London born artist’s biggest show to date was unveiled last month at the prestigious Palazzo Bembo on The Grand Canal.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The collection of thirty abstract figurative oil paintings explored what successful people are willing to put themselves through in order to succeed.
The powerful paintings, some reaching sizes of over 8 feet square, will be on display to the world’s art lovers and buyers in Venice from May 14 - November 24 but they have now ALL sold to international buyers in less than a month.
The astonishing ‘Sell Out’ show at the prestigious location has broken all records for Lincoln with sales far exceeding the £5m expected figure. Lincoln now he has his sights on his autumn show a London’s highly respected Saatchi Gallery.
The La Bienale exhibition took eight months in planning and even before the show opened over 80 per cent of the Behind The Mask had already been allocated to international art collectors. The rest quickly followed.
Lincoln Townley said: “When I take part in an art show I see it as a show not a sales opportunity, it helps with the promotion of my brand but not sales directly as I believe great artists sell work between shows. I had sold 80% of my show at Palazzo Bembo in Venice before we even put the works in a crate to travel to the exhibition. I connect directly with my clients, I don’t lean on my galleries and hope for the best, I make things happen daily. Art collectors are interested in where an artist has come from and what they are doing now but more importantly they want to know what is next for the artist; therefore I’m more interested in moving onto my next show of works.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Selling out my show at La Biennale means I can now focus on my next move which is showing works in Chelsea’s Saatchi Gallery this September.
“My next collection Greed which explores how greed is not just good its great! Directing ones greed in a creative and commercial manner can only deliver exciting results and I want to celebrate this with my new works which even though I’m only just finishing at my London studio we are already marketing and taking orders directly through using WhatsApp and Instagram to connect with buyers directly. My need for physical galleries is disappearing completely, I promote myself as an artist just as interested in the art of selling equal to the art of creating my collection of works. I’m interested in success and the adage made famous in the film Wall Street - Greed is good!”
Lincoln Townley said of the Mask collection: “I’m interested in people who take risks and go at life guns blazing. These characters hardly ever show you what’s going on behind the mask yet continue to drain every ounce out of life in their own very unique and robust way.
“They charge forward providing the power to keep their human machine moving towards their own definition of glory. Painting drives thoughts in my mind that wrap around the suggestion that the human race is obsessed with success, fame and fortune. This pattern is extremely exciting but only a few have the mental and physical platform to pull it off, if someone is not well enough equipped they then take incredible risks to achieve this goal.
“In some of my paintings the figure is achieving, striving and winning but in many the lack of direction and increase in ego will lead to dire circumstances which inevitably lead to pain and suffering; something I see as extremely beautiful when portrayed as a painting. These people constantly walk a tightrope, in most cases they are bravely or foolishly walking into the unknown. Personally I hate a risk free life, I see my personal pursuit weighed down with pushing out so hard I’m bound to fail at some things but achieve hugely in others, because by taking risks even when I fail, I learn.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
“I often gravitate toward charismatic extroverts, when you look at my work you can see the figures toiling and scheming. My work is difficult for most to live with but I have an incredible satisfaction of knowing those who thrive in this mad world of personal gain that they immediately see themselves in my work.”
Multi-millionaire Townley’s dramatic rise to fame in the global art market has seen him grow from six years ago to today where his work sells for in excess of £1million.
Lincoln has been commissioned to paint many of the world’s biggest icons including Charlie Sheen, Al Pacino, Sir Michael Caine and his original oil paintings of demons drawn from the unconscious mind, have been exhibited at major international galleries including the National Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, Los Angeles and the Brisbane Powerhouse.
The portraits of stars Lincoln has painted also include the annual BAFTA honourees, Dame Judi Dench, John Cleese, Kate Moss, Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand, Leonardo Di Caprio, Marlon Brando, Princess Diana, Mohammed Ali, David Bowie, Pele, Ronaldinho and many others.
Lincoln painted Sir Michael Caine and his wife Shakira, after presenting him the painting the legendary actor said: "There's no doubt in my opinion that Lincoln is the next Andy Warhol."
Two years ago Lincoln sold a diamond encrusted portrait of the late Princess Diana for a personal record-breaking ÂŁ1million, beating his previous record of ÂŁ510,000 set by his painting of Mohammed Ali. Drug Addiction Treatment: Recovery Coaching
What is Addiction? Addiction to drugs or alcohol is an unhealthy relationship where you use more of the substance than you would like to use and continue to use despite the negative consequences. A very realistic perspective of heroin addiction is portrayed in the brilliant 1996 Film with Ewan McGregor Trainspotting. However this is just one image of drug addiction. Alcohol dependence is often overlooked as an addiction due to it being legal and socially acceptable, something most of us indulge in from time to time. According to a survey of adults who have used one or more illicit drugs within the last year Cannabis is the drug most likely to be used followed by powder cocaine, but it seems all the attention and treatment is focused on opiates and it is important to consider the other side of the addiction coin. Signs & Symptoms of Addiction The medical definition of an addiction is classified by the DSMIV and the World Health Organisation ICD10. You will need to meet three or more of the following criteria to be classified as dependent: 1) Tolerance: A need to use more over time for the same desired effect. 2) Withdrawal: Experiencing physical or emotional withdrawals. Shakes, sweats, low moods, irritable. 3) Limited Control: Using more than you intended over increased periods of time. 4) Desire to cut down: Attempts to cut down or stop not being successful. 5) Significant time or energy spent using: A great deal of time spent thinking about using, getting, planning and concealing your drug or alcohol use. 6) Neglected activities: Work, family or recreational activities are neglected to use drugs or alcohol. 7) Negative Consequences: Physical or mental health is adversely effected but still continue to use. Who is effected by addiction? It is estimated that around 10% of any population is addicted to drugs or alcohol. Addiction is more common than diabetes and crosses all socioeconomic boundaries teachers, plumbers and CEO's suffer with addiction it is not just limited to poorer or less educated parts of society there is a growing number of professionals in full time employment who are juggling a full time career with their hidden addiction. It is not to be underestimated the daily struggles a person will face in the battle against the chronic relapsing qualities of addiction fluctuating between hope and setbacks. A large part of the work is to explore with people their fears of giving up and sharing tools for survival in the darkest times of their addiction. I have worked for years supporting people with addictions on an emotional roller coaster of desperation and celebration. Some make it to sobriety and feel absolutely great when they have completed treatment, for others abstinence will not be their goal but staying alive, becoming more aware and making healthier choices. Getting back the control of their life is enough to turn sadness into laughter. Consequences of Addiction People are often able to overlook the destruction they cause in their home, work or business in exchange for stimulating the pleasure centre in the brain which also provides temporary relief from any painful memories. The adverse consequences caused by addiction are often the focus in the treatment of addiction but the reality is there is a feel good factor which may act as a payoff to the negative consequences. The short and long term consequences to your health from addiction can be a heart attack, respiratory failure, a coma, high blood pressure, dizziness, impotence, blurred vision, paranoia, psychosis, nausea, a hangover, depression, lung damage and vein damage the adverse health effects of addiction do not discriminate any of these may effect your health even if you are just a recreational user. Drug addiction treatment Opiate treatment remains the main drug for which people receive treatment for, 49% of all treatments in the UK. The majority of the drug treatment budget in the UK is spent on substitute prescribing, a cost effective medical model of providing a one size fits all treatment to the masses. It entails going to your local drug service every other week to be given a methadone prescription after a 15 min intervention about your drug consumption, which you then collect daily if on supervised consumption or perhaps weekly if unsupervised from your local chemist. Either way it can be a humiliating and very public process that is extremely inconvenient if you are in full time employment. If you are able to take a significant break from your job a residential rehabilitation clinic in which you can also receive a detox if needed and more structured support can be useful for respite and a kick start to fighting the addiction battle. The power of being supported by someone who has survived an addiction is a very powerful tool to overcoming addiction. The Mutual aid or peer led 12 step models like Narcotics Anonymous NA, Alcoholics Anonymous AA and Cocaine Anonymous CA are well established and have meetings daily that you can drop in and out of at your convenience. Family and friends may provide emotional, physical and financial support that is so necessary, they are the people who are often providing the additional out of hours support which is so vital to overcoming addiction, as well as taking on the burden of looking after their loved one when treatment is no longer working. These are the people who should be equipped the most to tackle addiction but are often overlooked and forgotten in the treatment of addiction. New but increasing in popularity for drug addiction treatment is Recovery Coaching. A form of strength based support for people in active addiction or already in recovery. A Recovery Coach helps you to make decisions about what to do with your life and the part the addiction or recovery plays. It is action orientated with an emphasis on improving your present life and reaching goals for the future. Hence it does not matter where you are in your addiction you can still get the help and support you need. Star Wars Movie and TV Release Date Calendar
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
While The Skywalker Saga may have come to a close, there are still plenty of other Star Wars movies, live-action Disney+ series, and animated shows in the works.
This is the page where we’ll keep track of all the upcoming Star Wars movie and TV releases. It might not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts.

Untitled J.D. Dillard Star Wars Movie
TBA
Director: J.D. Dillard
Writer: Matt Owens
Reports of a new Star Wars movie from Sleight director J.D. Dillard and Luke Cage writer Matt Owens first his the internet in Feb.
All we know about these movies is that this will take place in previously unexplored areas of the Star Wars universe, and it will kick off a brand new saga of films completely unrelated to the Skywalker story. We wrote in more detail about what that might mean for the franchise right here.
On the other hand, maybe Johnson’s recent comments about what a mistake it is to pander to fans are an indication that his relationship with Disney has soured. Read more about this new Star Wars trilogy here.
Upcoming Star Wars TV Shows
Disney seems to be rethinking a lot of their Star Wars movie strategy in favor of a more TV focused approach on Disney+. Here’s what we know is on the way

The Mandalorian Season 3
December 2021
Executive Producers: Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni
Starring: Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Katee Sackhoff
The Mandalorian season 3 went into pre-production in 2020 and is set to film in at some point in 2021. We don’t know much about what’s next for Din Jarin or Grogu, but we can’t wait to find out!
The Book of Boba Fett went into production in late 2020 and is slated to premiere in Christmas 2021. Will this show really coincide with the release of The Mandalorian in December, giving Star Wars fans two Disney+ shows to obsess over? Almost sounds too good to be true.
Robert Rodriguez, who directed Boba Fett’s return in The Mandalorian season 2, will exec produce alongside Favreau and Filoni.
The Bad Batch
2021
Director: Brad Rau
Writers: Jennifer Corbett & Matt Michnovetz
The next Star Wars animated series is The Bad Batch, starring Clone Force 99 from the final season of The Clone Wars. The series picks up after the war, as the galaxy takes a dark turn during the rise of the Galactic Empire. These misfit clone troopers “will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.”
Read more about The Bad Batch here.
Visions
2021
The Bad Batch isn’t the only animated series coming up. Star Wars is finally getting its own anime anthology series. It’s called Visions, “a series of animated short films celebrating Star Wars through the lens of the world’s best anime creators. The anthology collection will bring 10 fantastic visions from several of the leading Japanese anime studios, offering a fresh and diverse cultural perspective to Star Wars.”
This sounds so cool!
Obi-Wan Kenobi
2022
Director: Deborah Chow
Writer: Hossein Amini, Joby Harold
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen
This series was set to film in 2020, but has since been pushed back to March 2021 after writer Hossein Amini was replaced by Joby Harold, who is creating fresh scripts for the series. The show was also pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Andor
This series was set to film in early 2020, Covid-19 pandemic delayed the show. It finally began filming in November in London.
The Acolyte
Crisis on Infinite Planets?
Lando
That’s all we know at the moment!
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });

Abandoning Hope -- Some Thoughts on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
*NOTE: I wrote this the day after seeing Rogue One at the cinema. I don't do FB, so I posted it to my neglected G+ and linked to Twitter ( twitter.com/drewmcnaughton ). Every few years I remember I have a Tumblr, so I'm sharing it here 6 months later. Also, to correct the opening sentence, I did not see R1 again in theaters, making it the first live action Star Wars movie I've ever only seen once on the big screen. Enjoy....... Original Post 12/16/16 ( https://plus.google.com/108163877778963936170/posts/TUqccQPVkzf ) I will see Rogue One again while it is still at the cinema. That isn't really saying much since I saw Phantom Menace five times during the summer of 1999, back when I had way more time on my hands and George Lucas was only in his first phase of ruining my childhood. Today at work, I told people who knew I saw it last night that if they like Star Wars, then Rogue One is worth seeing, and if they had seen all of them, then they had already seen worse Star Wars movies as well as much better ones (among which I would include The Force Awakens). I did not really know what to expect walking into Rogue One as I had read no spoilers other than there would be no opening crawl (real spoilers will follow below). While I was looking forward to seeing it, it was the least excited I had ever been for a new Star Wars movie (I was 4 years old when Jedi premiered, and the Emperor's force lightning torture of Luke was too much for my little mind to handle). I identified at least two reasons for my lack of enthusiasm: it would not move the saga forward nor would it likely answer long pondered questions since in at least a general sense we already know what happens because it is literally spelled out for us in the opening title crawl of the original Star Wars. Also, we just got a new Star Wars a year ago. I probably will be much more excited for Episode VIII next year, but it is also possible that the House of Mouse Star Wars saturation is already taking its toll. ***Spoilers below, you've been warned*** I walked away from Rogue One with mixed feelings. I did not enjoy it as much as I did last year's The Force Awakens. This is largely due to Rogue One’s paper thin characters. I don’t dislike Jyn or the Captain guy. The blind Jedi inspired warrior and his brick shithouse companion are fun. I especially got a huge kick out of blind Chirrut (I had to Google his name because I honestly could not remember it) saying "May the Force of Others Be With You" and his reference to the Whills, both of which are ancient relics of the earliest drafts of The Star Wars by Lucas (I highly recommend The Star Wars comic book miniseries that brings the rough draft to life; it isn't exactly what I'd characterize as a good story, but it is a fascinating look at from what Star Wars evolved, as well as how certain elements emerged decades later in the prequels, for better or worse). But the only character I really cared about was the droid K-2S0. He dies. They all die. That was fairly predictable. But only K-2S0's sacrifice made me even somewhat emotional. The Captain is a one note character, and while I embrace the diversity on display in these new Star Wars films, I honestly had a difficult time understanding some of his dialogue due at least in part to the character’s (or actor’s) accent. Then there is Jyn, who goes from not really caring about the Rebellion (or anything for that matter) to preaching about "hope" to Mon Mothma almost immediately after her father is killed, seemingly turning on a dime in terms of her character’s motivation. This character’s shift is less convincing than Anakin's turn to the Dark Side. I cared less about Jyn after 2+ hours than I did about Rey in her first couple of minutes on screen in The Force Awakens while scavenging the crashed Star Destroyer, hocking her goods, and making her portion of space bread. Maybe it was a difference in the quality of the acting, the script writing, or both. The absense of characters in whom I am emotionally invested is a big problem I have in fully embracing Rogue One. Not caring about the characters is largely what sank the prequels, especially The Phantom Menace (though to be fair, I really liked Ewan McGregor’s performance in Attack of the Clones because he seemed to be having fun with the role, and even Hayden Christensen had a few shining moments about midway through Revenge of the Sith where I actually felt his inner turmoil). Speaking of which, Darth Vader is in Rogue One and it is pretty awesome. We see his lava planet castle, based on old conceptual art for Empire Strikes Back, I believe. Most of the planets in Rogue One are identified by title cards. This one is not, though I assumed it was Mustafar and I'm sure that will be confirmed or denied through some official Star Wars sanctioned means if it hasn't already. I absolutely love the planet Jedha, with the relics of the last remaining Jedi temple and fallen statues that are very much in the spirit of the Lord of the Rings films (think The Argonath from Fellowship of the Ring). Pretty much everything that happens on this planet are my favorite parts of the movie. I'm getting slightly ahead of myself here though. The film opens with a somewhat cliched scene of young Jyn seeing the murder of her mother and abduction of her father by the Imperial bad guy who needs help finishing the construction of the Death Star. It is notable that the mother is wearing clothing very similar to the Jedi robes in the prequels that were also worn by common Tatooine folks in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. She also is the bearer of a Kyber Crystal, which have long been known to be the power element for both Jedi/Sith lightsabers as well as the Death Star's main weapon, though never acknowledged on film until now. We then flash forward to Jyn in an imperial jail. It is at this point that I really started to worry about Rogue One because in the next 10 minutes, we visit at least 4 different planets, and I started to wonder if the film was heading into a narrative nightmare not witnessed since David Lynch's Dune (which, in full disclosure, I absolutely love, though I'd never try to convince anyone that it is actually a good movie). Fortunately it does not (although perhaps Rogue One would be far more memorable if it was a complete disaster of a film rather than one that is just somewhat off its mark). As I write this, it has been about 24 hours since I saw Rogue One, and that brief, messy stretch of the film is mostly a blur in my mind, but at its outset, Jyn is going to help the Rebels find Saw Gerrera played by Ghost Dog himself Forest Whitaker because plot reasons.. That leads to the terrific sequences on Jedha. The film is worth seeing for these alone. In The Force Awakens, Han Solo stated that Luke Skywalker went in search of the last Jedi temple. Perhaps what we see on Jedha will come into play in next year's Episode VIII, or perhaps not. There was no teaser for Episode VIII before or after Rogue One. Then a bunch of stuff happens: Jyn's dad dies, we see Tarkin which is cool, and we see some other OT characters, some of whom's cameos are clever, while others are shameless fan service and pandering. And then we get to the film's third act, which has been what most people who have seen and enjoyed Rogue One have pointed to as its highlight. Frankly, I was underwhelmed. Again, I got a little emotional when the droid K-2S0 is killed protecting Jyn and Captain guy. Many of the more iconic images from the film's trailers didn't even make into the final cut of this sequence (which calls into question the apparent validity of the rumors of the production being troubled). I did not hate this extended sequence, but this is the first time in any Star Wars movie where I was not fully engaged in the epic battle. Yes, that includes the ones in the prequels. I did really like when Darth Vader's Star Destroyer popped up to thwart any sense of pure victory the Rebels may have felt after capturing the Death Star plans. Then we see Princess Leia, obviously a special effect, and she lightspeeds away on the Tantave IV into the opening shot of Episode IV. This all calls into question why The House of Mouse felt compelled to make this movie. Well, the answer is simple, to continue to make "a shitload of money" (to quote Lone Star from Spaceballs) off of their $4 billion investment. But why this story? My guess is that the powers that be recognized that Revenge of the Sith’s attempt to tie directly into the beginning of A New Hope failed miserably, largely because of the 20 year gap in the saga timeline between the two films. This is probably why they went with Princess Leia at the end of Rogue One and not Artoo and Threepio, since we already saw them on the Tantave IV in one of the last shots in Episode III. There's a lot of unaccounted for events on the Star Wars timeline, especially in light of the abandonment of the Extended Universe (which was fine by me because most of those novels and comic books were really dumb) and the introduction of new characters, concepts and entities in The Force Awakens. Maybe years from now (or much sooner) we'll get to see the Battle of Jaku on the big screen in another standalone film. I would have preferred that to what we get in Rogue One. Some of my specific nitpicks, such as how can the X- and U-Wings destroy the AT-ATs when in Empire Strikes Back their "armor is too strong for blasters", I've already found answers to -- according to Den Of Geek, these are actually AT-ACTs, designed for cargo, not combat ( http://www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/star-wars/260771/star-wars-rogue-one-easter-eggs-and-reference-guide ). My brother picked up on some other nitpicks, particularly how the end of Rogue One and the beginning of A New Hope don't exactly match up ( https://t.co/q881t4Jr5e ). I'm sure more of those will occur to the collective Star Wars community as time goes by and second, third and perhaps fourth theatrical viewings occur. *****END SPOILERS**** Look, when new Star Wars (and also Star Trek) movies are released, I am tense when I see them the first time because I am anxiously waiting for them to start sucking. There is an unfortunate precedent for that for these two franchises. In the last year, I enjoyed both The Force Awakens and Star Trek Beyond way more on subsequent viewings than I did the first times. In the case of Rogue One, it stumbles out of the gate, then thrives during the Jedha sequences, and finally settles in as a B-/C+ grade Star Wars film. There is a chance I might like it even less when I see it again, but I might also find more to appreciate. I've seen the worst Star Wars and Star Trek films at least several dozen times each, and the best ones hundreds if not thousands of times (no exaggeration
. I wore out my VHS copies of Star Wars, Empire, Wrath of Khan, Search for Spock and The Voyage Home as a kid). I'll see Rogue One again. I even look forward to it. I just HOPE I find something more to like about it. ï»ż

These Falcon shoes that are a size 9.5 Wide in Men’s were actually my second purchase  when I bought these on February 17, 2017. This was because I had ordered some Panther II shoes on October 9, 2016 that were not as comfortable. The positives to these Falcon shoes are that they are a definite improvement from the previous shoes that I ordered. Additionally, I currently am blessed to work at a University food service job that has quality work conditions yet also requires good non-stick shoes due to the fact that some of the floors can get a little slippery due to the high demand of food required to be served from the high volume of customers that sometimes come in during the week .These Falcon shoes do the job of helping to keep me slip-free when I take food back to the serving station that I work at andor haul dishes back to the dishroom (where it can sometimes get slippery despite best intentions). These Falcon tennis shoes stay comfortable for my feet both during my work shift and during the timeframe that I wear them walking to and from work.

Comment | Permalink Courage Under Fire DVD Price: $2.99 Bravery Under Duress, March 20, 2017 Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Courage Under Fire (Amazon Video)Courage Under Fire stars Denzel Washington as Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Serling, Regina Taylor as Meredith Serling,Meg Ryan as Captain Karen Emma Walden, Lou Diamond Phillips as Staff Sergeant John Monfriez, Matt Damon as Specialist Andrew Ilario, Scott Glenn as Washington Post Reporter Tony Garten (as well as more actors/actresses featured in the film). I admit that it was an easy decision for me to check out the Courage under fire film because of the Magnificent Film that I saw last year that featured Denzel Washington (I went by the recommendation of a female coworker who admires Washington as an actor), and other actors/actresses in the Magnificent film. Nathaniel Serling has a challenging job of making sure to uncover the truth around what happened to Captain Walden while also balancing his family life with his wife Regina Serling who is naturally concerned about him. Andrew Ilario is one of the first men that Serling questions due to the fact that he was there and up close to Walden when certain events happened. Serling has an uncomfortable encounter with Monfriez that has him wondering why he is so defensive about what happened to Walden. Serling is also trying to sort out his own personal feelings around a recent event that happened when he gave out an order to Sergeant Patella (Sean Astin) that went much differently than planned. Nathaniel has to deal with all of this while also making sure to professionally and maturely handle himself around Washington Post Reporter Tony Gartner. Comment | Permalink The Ghost Writer DVD Price: $2.99 A Job That Is More Than It Appears, March 20, 2017 Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: The Ghost Writer (Amazon Video)I unintentionally discovered this the Ghostwriter film at a Family Dollar store near where my husband and I reside but the dvd did not play properly once I got past the movie credits that were Letters to Juliet and Remember Me. As a result, I took a chance and bought this movie via Amazon video yet I am glad to have done so. The positives of the Ghostwriter film; As an aspiring writer it was fascinating to catch a glimpse into how the world of ghostwriting worked when the character of The Ghost (Ewan McGregor) is in talks for his next assignment with former British Prime Minister Adam Peter Bennett Lang (played by Pierce Brosnan). I recognized one of the characters named Rick Ricardelli (Jon Bernthal) who played an agent brokering/negotiating the ghostwriting deal because of his appearance in the 2016 Accountant film. Anyhow, The Ghost character (Ewan McGregor) realizes early on that his ghostwriting gig may end up being more than it initially appears to be when he meets former Prime Minister Adam Peter Bennett Lang, Adam Lang’s wife Ruth Lang (Olivia Williams) and Amelia Bly (Kim Cattrall) a personal assistant of Adam Petter Bennett Lang. A mutual friend of both the former prime minister and his wife died less than three days later and The Ghost (Ewan McGregor) must work under tense conditions to get the memoir completed that he was tasked to do. Of course, there are more plot points as well as actors/actresses involved in a who done it type of film. The caveats; While the film was well-done and a scandalous slant to their personal lives thrown in for realistic measure I was correct in my guess as to who was responsible for the whole debacle. My husband had a different idea on who he thought was responsible for the outcome but he acknowledged that I was correct in my initial who done it assessment but for a different reason than expected. I would have loved for both my husband and I to be surprised by who did it, not just my husband. I also did not like the ending and felt that it could have ended on a more complicated andor open to mystery type of note. Aside from those caveats, this was a brilliant film to watch. It is listed towards the end of the movie that this the Ghostwriter film is based on the book “The Ghost” by Robert Harris. Comment | Permalink Four Rooms DVD Price: $2.99 Zany Rooms, March 20, 2017 Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Four Rooms (Amazon Video)Four Rooms is a crazy yet watchable film that has the character of a bellhop by the name of Ted (Tim Roth) involved in some risky activities pertaining to his first night on the job. The Four Rooms begins with him attending to the needs of some women who are witches involved in a coven (Madonna as Elspeth,Ione Skye as Eva, Valeria Golino as Atheno,Alicia Witt as Kiva, Sammi Davis as Jezebel,Lilli Taylor as Raven,Amande De Cadenet as Diana. Jennifer Beals, Antonio Banderas, Marisa Tomei, Kathi Griffin, and Quentin Tarantino are some of the other people who feature in different roles within the movie. Events get crazier after Ted’s duties with the coven. The most hectic was probably the scene involving The Misbehavers (Antonio Banderas as the dad/husband, Tamlyn Tomita as the mother/wife, Lana Mckissack as Sarah,Danny Verduzco as Juancho, Salma Hayek, Patricia Vonne). In the misbehaviors scene the dad threatens and pays Ted good money to look after his kids and one can guess how that goes. Comment | Permalink Moneyball DVD ~ Brad Pitt Price: $4.75 119 used & new from $0.16 A Compelling Family Movie, March 20, 2017 This review is from: Moneyball (DVD)I unintentionally came across this Moneyball movie at the Family Dollar store near where my husband and I live. This film stars Brad Pitt (Rusty Ryan in Ocean’s Twelve, The Big Short) as Billy Beane, Jonah Hill as Peter Brand an assistant to Billy Beane (I remember Hill most recently from the War Dogs film and Wolf of Wall Street). I admit that I did not know that Chris Pratt (first Guardians of the Galaxy, upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 film etc)played in the film as a baseball player by the name of Scott Hatteberg until after he is introduced as part of the new team that is being assembled. The character of Billy Beane is also shown juggling his professional life while trying to raise his daughter Casey Beane (played by Kerris Dorsey) who he co-parents with his ex-wife Sharon Beane (Robin Wright who also plays in the House of Cards with Kevin Spacey). Of course, there are more actors/actresses who feature in the film and the following are some of the bonus features of the dvd; Blooper-Brad Loses It, Deleted Scenes, Billy Bean Re-Inventing the Game, Moneyball Playing the Game. The end of the film lists that Billy Beane turned down the Red Sox Offer of $12,500,00 and chose to stay in Oakland California. Some of the credits list that Bennet Miller directed the film, Brad Pitt produced Moneyball, and this film is based on the book by Michael Lewis. I am thrilled to say that this is another film that my husband sat with me to watch and also liked. Comment | Permalink The Monuments Men DVD ~ George Clooney Price: $7.99 108 used & new from $1.71 More Than Just An Art Recovery Expedition, March 20, 2017 This review is from: The Monuments Men (DVD)This film The Monuments Men features an all star cast of people and even on the front of the dvd cover itself such as; George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and Cate Blanchett. All of the men and the woman play roles in having to recapture art that had been stolen by some of the Nazi soldiers in World War II. The movie also shares some of the hardships that they had to endure on their way to working to triumph over regaining the lost art. Some of the special features of the film; George Clooney’s Mission and Marshalling the Troops. The film carefully illustrates that one reason why the men were able to put up a good fight in spotting the art had to do with some of the men having extensive expertise in the field of art related to the art they were tasked to recover. This was one of the films that my husband watched and enjoyed with me. Comment | Permalink

I found out about this book after I had seen it featured in a Writer’s Digest magazine article. Some of the following fun tidbits included in this book;Creating a writing schedule to stick to through Monday to Sunday with included time log with an accompanying exercise for focusing on the time blog to write (pages 56-57), a goal template sheet to use for writing objectives (pages 91-94) etc. Last, but not least, there are affirmations for a writer to encourage themselves such as: I’m a positive, joyous, and passionate person. I know I am good enough, have enough, and am enough to succeed. (pages 198-199). Of course, there is so much more in this book. I admit that for my dream and intent to be a writer also has to do with spiritual reasons. For instance, I notice that the more I write regardless of any positive andor challenging attention/judgement that I face the more I am able to be more in touch with both my rational thoughts as well as my intuition. Additionally, I have noticed that many of my dreams have taken on an increased spiritual andor mystical qualities the more that I write. I am blessed to have a job that allows me to take time off for spring break this week. As a result, this is going to give me an important headstart on reflecting on my writing goals for the rest of my current lifetime. Some of the well-known stories in this exalting kindlebook; Walt Disney, J.K. Rowling, Emily Blunt, Alan Rickman. There is also a happy outcome story in this kindlebook of a woman named Inas Khammi who immigrated from Iraq to San Diego, California. Her family was part of a religious minority group (listed as Chaldean Catholic) that was listed to have been heavily persecuted before fleeing for the U.S. She was given 345 dollars for her first eight months in the U.S. but she was determined to be more self-reliant. Eventually, a caseworker helped her with getting connected to another counselor who helped her with starting a childcare business. Eventually, she succeeded in making $6,000 a month. There was also a motivational example of the writer in the kindlebook who had to persist rejection from multiple places for nearly 10 years before their work was accepted for publication. This inspired me to make sure to create and finish a story as a writer that I would be willing to submit for at least 9-10 years or longer if necessary. Scott,Greg Zarcone, and Oldtown Publishing packed an abundance of informative content in the span of just three hours and two minutes. I confess that I actually know and I’m very aware (both logically and intuitively) what I want out of my life in various areas. As a result, I am aware that my passion of writing is going to indirectly help in these various areas. However, I am still elated to have come across getting both the kindlebook and audible version of Novice to Expert: 6 Steps to Learn Anything, Increase Your Knowledge, and Master New Skills because of the various resources mentioned. I know that in addition to knowing what I want that I must knock andor go through the right/appropriate doors (metaphorically speaking)and this audible/audiobook gives me an outside the box way of doing so. There are details involved in uncovering the best classes and free resources to uncover in this goal (for example Lynda.com and massive open online courses for the classes, podcasts, joining groups related to the goal). I admit that the only caveat is making sure to consistently schedule in time for my goal and work it around my job that I am blessed to have. For instance, I did find some writing groups online that are close to where my husband and I currently reside through meetup.com (including even one of my facebook friends that are in one of the meetup groups pertaining to writing), However, I know that it is up to me to creatively find one that fits around my employment schedule andor decide to just join an online writing group. Additionally, my goal and intent to improve my writing is not just about becoming a published author but for other reasons I prefer to avoid disclosing for now but have to do with both practical (i.e. the way I express myself online, writing improvement when I enroll in future online courses etc.)and outside the box reasons. As a result, I understand how important is for me to listen to the audible again within the next 24 hours or less to digest the abundance of resources recommended in this guide. I like that there are even mentorship and coaching type of resources for if a person wants to turn to a mentor andor a type of life coach for advice related to their goal/endeavor. Comment | Permalink Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race Offered by Audible, Inc. (US) Radiant Audio, March 20, 2017 This review is from: Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race (Audible Audio Edition)The audible version of Hidden Figures (showing the images of celebrities Taraji P. Henson,Janelle Monae, Octavia Spencer) caught my attention after I saw it featured online on a website that I was on. I decided to take a chance on it to broaden my mind. I am glad to have taken a chance on the audio despite the not so cheap price. One reason; the narrator shares one of the stories where one of the women admitted to have grown up in Hampton Virginia around successful role models who worked an accomplished living in field of education andor the federal government (NASA, National Advisory for Air Committee, mention of the Langley base in Virginia andor the sciences etc.) . This positively shaped her worldview on what was possible. Many of the women who applied at Langley were mentioned to come from accomplished employment backgrounds in education as well as having mathematical talents. There was mentioned that Langley employed multiple women in the field of computers. One of the women, Dorothy Vaughan is mentioned to have worked as a math teacher in Farmville, Virginia. Dorothy Vaughan’s in- laws were considered part of the financial upper-class in the area and mentioned to own a barbershop, a pool hall, and a service station. Their (Vaughan’s in-laws) activities made headlines at times through such media as what was mentioned in the audible version the Norfolk Journal and Guide. However, Vaughan was mentioned to be a modest person and aimed to carefully balance her family life with her career life. Vaughan’s academic accomplishments resulted in her becoming a valedictorian of her high school and attaining a full ride scholarship to Wilberforce University. The audio discussed that Vaughan performed so well to the point that one of the professors recommended her for a graduate program in Howard University. However, economic conditions after her graduation at Wilberforce University influenced Vaughan to hang up her graduate school dreams and pursue a career in teaching instead. She worked as a waitress at a hotel in Richmond Virginia until 1931 when she eventually moved on to her teaching job in Farmville Virginia. The audio shared that around this time Vaughan attracted the romantic attention of one of the area’s most eligible bachelors in Farmville Virginia. Of course, there are much more informative details in this audio. The Hidden Figures audible version by Margot Lee Shetterly, Robin Miles, and Harper Audio is a worthwhile purchase for people of various backgrounds (racial, socio-economic etc.) because of the theme of achieving success despite coming from a challenging environment/background as well as the abundance of historical information. I admit that I do not discuss my own full/paternal background not out of shame but more out of only knowing/being certain of my late biological mother and some of her background as well as showing some respect for both my adoptive father who is still alive and my late adoptive mother. La Times: 'Books, not boys': Director Bill Condon on updating 'Beauty and the Beast' and the whole princess/prisoner deal
One of the most cherished musical numbers in a Disney movie centers on a young woman ostracized from her community because she likes to read.
“Look there she goes, that girl is strange no question. Dazed and distracted, can’t you tell?”
This is how we meet one of Disney’s most progressive princesses: Belle, the girl who dared to read. She’s the nonconformist, the outsider, the nerd.
“Never part of any crowd. ’Cause her head’s up on some cloud. No denying she’s a funny girl, that Belle!”
Life in Belle’s poor provincial town, as described in the classic song by the late lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken, sounds quite cruel for the bookish heroine.
Not only is Belle labeled a “funny girl,” her inability to fit in is called a “sin.” But despite societal pressure, she reads on. And that passion for education was one of the emotional cornerstones director Bill Condon used to build new plot points and broaden the characters inside the retelling of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” as a live-action film.
“[Reading] defined Belle in the original movie,” Condon says the day after the film’s Hollywood premiere.
Still energized from the positive audience response at the El Capitan Theatre, the director breaks down how he turned animated fantasy into live action reality.
“Books, not boys. And everything that books represent,” he says. “It’s a double thing for her. There’s an escape into the adventure of books, but it’s also just feeding her imagination, and the zeal for knowledge. That’s something that, I think, is important to a lot of us.”
While the animated film’s townsfolk chided Belle’s interest in education as foolish, the new movie (opening in theaters Thursday) goes one step further — they punish her for it. One particularly harrowing scene shows the locals outraged at the sight of Belle (played by Emma Watson) teaching another girl how to read. They are so enraged by this act that they destroy Belle’s clever clothes washing contraption (in this movie, her father, Maurice, isn’t the only inventor).
“What I’m proud of in our movie is that [Belle’s] also become an activist 25 years later,” Condon says. “That she not only has a private interest in [reading], but she wants to share it and figure out how to help other little girls discover books too.”
No longer does Belle sit solitarily reading to disinterested sheep — “Oh isn’t this amazing” — she’s actively trying to get young women involved.
The ramifications of reading are threaded throughout Condon’s feature. The heavily stocked bookshop that the original Belle frequented in her cartoon town has been swapped out for a more realistic representation of the times. New Belle picks from a minuscule collection of reading material housed in the local church.
“There weren’t bookstores in 1740,” Condon says. “It’s as simple as that. The church would have been the center for learning, and she’s found one priest who connects to her. Everyone else thinks it’s just an absolutely crazy thing that a woman would be interested.” This makes the eventual reveal of the Beast’s expansive castle library even more impressive.
Even LeFou, the lackey to the villainous Gaston, gets an illiteracy gag in his climactic solo during the rowdy tavern performance of “Gaston.” It’s a moment not lost on Josh Gad, the actor behind the joke and father of two little girls.
“Right now, my daughter is learning how to read,” Gad says. “To have this character whose superpower is essentially that she devours books and is an inventor is a great thing to hold up and share with them. She is the hero of the movie. I think that now more than ever we need amazing female role models like that, and I’m thrilled to be a part of a movie that has one at its core.”
“Beauty and the Beast” isn’t Condon’s first musical movie adaptation — he spearheaded the two-time Oscar-winning “Dreamgirls” in 2006. Nor is this his first brush with a devout fan base. He put the “Twilight” saga to bed in “Breaking Dawn” Parts 1 and 2. However, this is the first movie that combines massive fandom with an internationally adored songbook. The director is aware he’s playing with a powerful brand of nostalgia.

Still, Belle’s rebellious reading wasn’t the only part of Disney’s tale as old as time that was due for a little dusting. With a running time 45 minutes longer than the original, Condon hoped that his “Beauty and the Beast” expansion would answer questions fans may have been carrying with them for years. Some new investigations are arguably easier to answer than others, thanks to a little movie magic.
For example, how were the townsfolk seemingly unaware of the existence of a multistory, magical castle in the woods that (presumably) used to house their governing system? Simple: a magical memory wiping incantation directly tied to the Beast’s curse.
Granted, the larger questions Condon attempts to answer (how did Belle and her father wind up living in a village where they’re complete outsiders, and what happened to Belle’s mother?) are clearly more complicated and will forever change the back story to this Disney staple. But most pressing, according to the director, was expanding the relationship between Belle and the Beast (played by Dan Stevens).
“You’re asking an audience to believe that Emma Watson is falling in love with this big hunk of fur,” Condon says. “So you want to make it absolutely recognizable in human terms.”
That also meant addressing the Stockholm syndrome issues with the classic story’s prisoner/princess relationship. When questioned about the problematic nature of the duo’s courtship, the director immediately lists his leading lady as a champion for this change.
“That’s where having Emma Watson as a partner, as a collaborator, was so crucial,” Condon says. “Because she’ll always know more than I do about this, because she’s leading the life of a strong role model for women in the 21st century.”
In fact, both Stevens and Watson worked with Condon on their dialogue in hopes of refining and reshaping their complicated affair in an attempt to steer it away from victim and kidnapper.
“To me, the crucial line is when they finally connect, and [Beast] says, ‘Could you ever be happy here?’ [Belle] thinks about it and says, ‘Could anybody be happy when they’re not free?’ ”
“She’s not falling in love with him. She understands the terms of what he’s done, she reminds him of it, and he feels ashamed of it,” Condon says. “She very clearly sets up those boundaries. And it’s only when he actually does free her, and long after that, that she kind of lets herself open up to her feelings for him. That scene, which probably has only 10 lines, it’s sort of like haiku. We kept refining, word by word, to make sure that moment, that line, packed a real punch.”
Whether the evolution of Belle and the Beast will alleviate modern minds troubled by the questionable romance remains to be seen, but one thing that took most by surprise was the outing and subsequent backlash at the sexuality of the aforementioned LeFou. After it was announced that LeFou would be Disney’s first gay character, a Henagar, Ala., drive-in theater said it wouldn’t screen the film — specifically citing LeFou’s sexual orientation. Overseas, Disney has decided to pull its Malaysian distribution of the film rather than censor the few minutes of content the country’s film censorship board regarded as unsuitable.
Condon spoke vaguely about the reaction at a press conference in Beverly Hills last week, noting that this too is another expansion of a character for the modern age, “What has this story always been about for 300 years?” he asked. “It’s about looking closer, going deeper, accepting people for who they really are. And in a very Disney way, we are including everybody. I think this movie is for everybody, and on the screen you’ll see everybody. That was important to me, I think, to all of us.”
The backlash has already received plenty of backlash from the rest of the cast. Ian McKellen (who plays Cogsworth) labeled the controversy “rubbish” in an interview with CNN at the New York premiere. And Ewan McGregor (Lumiùre), at first joking that “there is a lot of gay sex in this cartoon” on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” turned serious when he told Colbert, “He’s a gay character. It’s 2017, for
 sake.”
It’s only too perfect that one of the many themes in this timeless fairy tale that doesn’t need updating is the proverbial sentiment: “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
Condon encourages his audience to look beyond Beast’s intimidating horns or the beautiful filigree of the castle’s magical inhabitants and take in the big picture.
Only then will you realize in the live action opening number that the only children marching into the school are the boys, while the girls are stuck doing the laundry.

Drug Addiction Treatment: Recovery Coaching
What's Addiction? Obsession with drugs or alcohol is undoubtedly an unhealthy relationship the place you use even more of the substance than you are looking to use and carry on using despite the detrimental consequences. A very realistic perspective of heroin addiction is portrayed within the brilliant 1996 Film with Ewan McGregor Trainspotting. This is certainly just one picture drug addiction.
Alcohol dependence is usually overlooked as a dependency because of it being legal and socially acceptable, something most of us take pleasure in from its time to time. Based on a survey of adults who've used one or more illicit drugs in my last year Cannabis is the drug most probably to be used developing to powder cocaine, but it seems all the attention and treatment is keen on opiates and it is important to contemplate the other side whatever the addiction coin.
Signs & Indicators of Addiction The medical definition of a dependency is indexed by the DSMIV together with the World Health Organisation ICD10. You need to meet three or more of the following criteria it doesn't need to be classified as dependent:
1) Tolerance: A need to use more with time for a similar desired effect. 2) Withdrawal: Experiencing physical or emotional withdrawals. Shakes, sweats, low moods, irritable. 3) Limited Control: Using greater than you intended over increased bouts of time. 4) Need slow down: Attempts to slow down or stop not being successful. 5) Significant time or energy spent using: A little time spent serious about using, getting, planning and concealing your drug or alcohol use. 6) Neglected activities: Work, family or outdoor activities are neglected to make use of drugs or alcohol. 7) Negative Consequences: Physical or anxiety is adversely effected having said that pursue to use.
Who is effected by addiction? It's estimated that around 10% about any population is hooked on drugs or alcohol. Addiction is common than diabetes and crosses all socioeconomic boundaries teachers, plumbers and CEO's suffer with addiction it isn't just purely for poorer less or more educated aspects of society there is quite a few professionals in full time employment who're juggling a full time career along with their hidden addiction.
It isn't it certainly doesn't need to be underestimated the daily struggles an individual will face within the battle against the chronic relapsing qualities of addiction fluctuating between hope and setbacks. A large part of the input is to explore with people their fears of leaving behind and sharing tools for survival within the darkest times with the addiction. I have been working throughout the years supporting people with addictions on an intellectual process of desperation and celebration. Some are able to sobriety and feel absolutely great when they've completed treatment, for many new mothers abstinence won't be their goal but staying alive, more and more aware and making healthier choices. Returning the influence over their heart is enough to turn sadness into laughter.
Consequences of Addiction Individuals are often able to miss the destruction they cause in their own home, work or business consequently for exciting the pleasure centre in the brain which supervises temporary relief from any painful memories. The adverse consequences attributable to addiction are often the main focus in tackling addiction but but the truth is there is a feel good factor which may work as a payoff to you might find the bad part consequences.
The short and long term consequences to health status from addiction can be a heart attack, respiratory failure, a coma, high blood pressure, dizziness, impotence, bad eyesight, paranoia, psychosis, nausea, a hangover, depression, lung damage and vein damage the adverse health previous addiction do not discriminate any one of some may effect your lifes health even if you happen to be just a recreational user.
Addiction to drugs treatment Opiate treatment remains the principle drug for which individuals receive treatment for, 49% of many treatments within the UK. The vast majority of the drug therapy budget within the UK is spent on substitute prescribing, a cost-effective medical model of providing a universal treatment beyond the masses. It entails if you desire to the local drug service most other week to be provided with a methadone prescription from a 15 min intervention regarding your drug consumption, which you certainly then collect daily if on supervised consumption or perhaps weekly if unsupervised from a local chemist. In any case this may be a humiliating and very public process that is extremely inconvenient if you are in on a full time basis employment.
If you are able to taking a big break from your job a residential rehabilitation clinic in which you'll also be sent detox if it's required increasingly more structured support will be a good choice for respite plus a launch to fighting the addiction battle. The facility of being maintained by somebody who has survived an addiction is an powerful tool to overcoming addiction. The Mutual aid or peer led 12 step models like Narcotics Anonymous NA, Alcoholics Anonymous AA and Cocaine Anonymous CA are well-established and have meetings daily that you could drop in and out of from your convenience.
Family and friends may provide emotional, physical and financial support that is so necessary, they're the people who find themselves often providing the extra outside hours support that is certainly so essential to overcoming addiction, in addition to taking over the burden of looking after their relation when treatment is not working. The people who should be equipped essentially the most to tackle addiction but are sometimes overlooked and forgotten in treating addiction.
