i was watching a playthrough and the guy said that this game came out years ago and only became popular after some streamers started playing it. kaijou brainrot means au where kaiba makes a game that completely flops and it becomes a success only after jounouchi starts playing it on ygo world twitch <3 maybe he’s an unknown developer and he only gets money in his account after this bottle blond with 20,000 followers gives him the necessary press

I like to also think this is like Kaiba's personal passion project game, so he worked it all by himself. It means there are parts of it that are a bit janky, or the art isn't AAA quality. But it's clear Kaiba's put a lot of time and effort into the game. He made the game he wanted to make (like you mentioned, maybe he's a developer in this AU, either in general or works at a larger game studio where it takes like ten billion people to pump up the AAA game and he works mainly on engine physics or something).

He puts it out into the world, and it doesn't make a splash. Which is fine. He finds a lot of personal satisfaction in making what he wanted. Several weeks go by after the initial release, and boom, that's when he notices a sudden uptick in sales/downloads. He goes from maybe ten a week to hundreds within a few days. And that's how he finds out that a twitch streamer has been playing his game.
