Reaper of Bhaal Velki: 'I hear you are to duel Lady Orin... If it pleases you, Child of Murder, I would have her carcass once you are finished.' Durge: '...Why?' Reaper of Bhaal Velki: 'Oh, nothing untoward. I simply wish to flay her.'
Christ, even the Bhaalists are grossed out by the necrophilia.
Congratulations, Durge! You've been so mentally fucked over you've managed to cross a line the mad scientist dictator who runs unethical experiments on children; the chaotic evil vampire who thinks the bed of mangled corpses is art; and your own serial killing apocalypse cultists find 'untoward.'
Also: guess that means it's not a Bhaal[ist] thing, it's a Durge thing!

I've been doing my first ever Divinity Original Sin 2 playthrough and I'm having soooo much fun!! What a lovingly crafted fantasy game with all the staples. The combat is HARD but I think I got the hang of it now, but I just love exploring and figuring out new areas etc! Finished the island now I'm onto the next act :D

Everyone else is sharing, so I guess I will too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lia DeRiva is from my first playthrough. She's a dagger and orb Death Caller with the Crows. I played her as generally pretty serious, but also used a healthy dose of sarcasm because she's a cocky lil gremlin. "I'm sorry, you said what? I've literally killed for less, your point is invalid. RUN THEM ONES! and them pockets..." Ya gurl is def stab happy and a notorious thief.
Brown-eyed babygirl and his demon are a packaged deal, and she is all for it. My personal hc was that since she technically dabbles in the necro side of magic as a Death Caller, is that she could hear Spite and would talk to him on occasion like Emmrich does. As not to outshine him tho, my brain also said that Emms could actually see him from time to time, while she could not. Love all her various tats, but the chin one looks like a beard imo so I pretend it doesn't exist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second is Reia, who is also a Crow. Instead of a mage, she's a more traditional rogue, specializing as a Duelist. Again, srsbsns because she's an assassin, but used more charm than humor whenever it suited her. As a Duelist, she is close-quarters and has picked up her fair share of scars over the years, but she thinks they make her look badass so she's not complaining. She breaks Emmrich's pelvis whenever possible and teaches her skeleson cuss words. She also discovered she has a praise kink, so she'll be unnecessarily showy in combat, just to hear Emmy's pet names. Lucanis is her besto friendo, and when together, it is advised they be put on a leash because they are unhinged murder hobos. They're also insufferable divas because they both agree Crows. Serve. CUNT! Secretly enjoys watching Taash antagonise her mans.

Mourn Watch Rook has finished
What a delightful playthrough. I've never been into the Necromage skills in the previous games, but oh lordy they were fun in this one. As much as I loved the Void Blade, I will be hard-pressed not to go the necro route any time I play a mage from here on out.
A Death Caller build is basically a "never need potions, never die" build. Low health? Just slap an enemy with Spirit Bomb to top off and do some explosive damage. Every enemy can be Spirit Bombed. EVERY. ENEMY. Need mana? Channeled thoughts will fill you up. I'd Frost Nova the ground around me and then fill up my mana bar while my companions executed some combos. And yes, you can add passives that let you use health when mana is low, just in case you're really missing the old Blood Mage style.
I usually play on Default difficulty and after a while, it felt like Storyteller. Death Caller is definitely in the top position for class when/if I do a Nightmare run. The only problem is you're pretty squishy till getting Spirit Bomb.
As for background, Mourn Watch gets a lot of extra dialogue and flavor, which was fun. Romancing Emmrich was an utter delight. I made a certain choice regarding his life's dream, and it turned out far more romantic than I thought it would. I am tempted to just romance him again and make the other choice because he was so lovely! His personal questline was also fantastic with great environments and an amazing villain. And he could teach Lucanis a thing or two about romantic dates.
Davrin will be next, with a Warden Rook. I think I'll step outside my mage love and try rogue?

Heyy, a little while ago I asked for help on the plague inc fungus run and you were super helpful. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on beating the necroa virus, I’m really bad at it 😭 I feel like I can get the disease all over pretty quick but once the Z-com bases are set up even with all the upgrades on the zombies, I just can’t get them in the z-com countries without them all dying. Tysm lol sorry for the random ask
im sooo late sorry.. if u dont need this anymore um. well. kms
all of the 'special' plagues are ones i used mega brutal guides to help me beat; i'm doing my test runs on normal, though!
I don't know what you have unlocked in terms of genetic code mods. I'm going to be playing with the limitation of no necroa virus mods, obv. if you need modifications you can play through a fast-win (like virus) and save right before the last person dies, then you can just reload over and over and unlock everything you need. I did this for the special scenarios because im sorry but you could not pay me to do multiple playthroughs of some of these lol
With that said, here's the setup:
catalytic switch
darwinist
aquacyte
urbophile
no necroa stuff. obviously
select what mods you can; otherwise just use what you think would be best. any help is better than none!
There are two ways to play necroa; 'stealth,' where you try and infect a lot of people before unleashing death and zombies, which is what i did in my first winning game (took a few tries), or 'ZOMBIE NOW.' in ZOMBIE NOW you focus on forcing mutations as fast as possible. this ive found to be more reliable method
start in saudi arabia, as usual.
go for zoo shift + rodent when you can, then blood + air. don't get rid of any mutations -- we want them.
save up DNA for segmented genome
at this point we just sit and wait. after getting segmented, we just watch. your virus should be getting some symptoms at this point.
when your necro is discovered it may be tempting to try and hold off the cure. don't bother. that's a waste of DNA. when the first country closes its borders, your instinct may be to buy more transmissions. even if a country is totally isolated and uninfected -- like greenland -- don't restart. we can get around that later.
for now, wait.
it should be mutating. if you don't have reanimation, wait until 60-70% cure. by that point you should be close enough to buy it through mutations AND afford the stuff we're going to rapid-fire buy. if you DO, at any point, mutate reanimation move immediately out of waiting phase and into ZOMBIE MODE
you should have so much DNA; i had ~110
the next phase is ZOMBIE MODE.
anaerobe resuscitation -> enhanced motor -> mast. tension & pep. surge -> anabolic boost & dermal calc.
buy what you can out of the abilities tree. we LOVE abilities tree in this house
horde instinct -> mentality -> vocalization -> pheromones (i needed to wait a bit to get this one) -> structured travel -> drifting fermentation
at this point in my game they had figured out the cure but it was too late, its zombie time.
now you want to clean things up, and prevent z-com from getting a foothold. this is a bit tedious but you gotta do it.
id say pausing is your best friend here
send zombie hoards from a nearby, highly-zombied country to any uninfected islands
send clusters of zombies from highlyl-zombied countries to uninfected or low-infected countries. i was kind of drowning in DNA by this point so you SHOULD be able to do as much zombie-moving as you want.
some places might require 'migration chains'; USA, greenland, iceland, and canada had gotten away infection-free, so i had to send zombies like this: mexico -> USA -> canada -> greenland -> iceland
this can be a bit tedious with the pause-unpause game as you send the damn things everywhere and then wait for them to get there and spread so you can send them somewhere else. z-com really likes islands, central europe, and russia. i'd say do those first and then focus on cleaning up random-ass uninfected european countries or whatever but if youre like me and have 100+ DNA you dont really have to budget you can just send them everywhere
at this point in the game i had infected most of the world (we had some zombies on their way to islands), zombies made up most of the population, and i only had 1 z-com base in the UK, which just appeared.
if you get a z-com base, wherever they pop up, find the nearest zombie-coated countries and spam hordes from them. sure, they can handle a few hundred zombies. but can they handle suddenly being bombed with some millions? not this early they can't.
this should let you deal with any bases before they start being real problems.
at this point in my game i had killed z-com, with only a few rando survivors in like. russia and italy. italy only had 40k zombies which was pretty good, but i was bored so i sent some more zombies their way. not that I had to. at this point its just waiting for people to die. maybe sending zombies places. make sure your map has every country with zombies in it
that should do it

Acra's EO Guild Card Megapost
Guild Cards are a neat thing in the most of the Etrian Odyssey games. Sometimes, they're pretty pointless, but in some, they actually do some neat stuff. I… have a tendency to do multiple playthroughs, to try different team compositions (as seeing how different a game can feel based on your builds is one of my favourite things ever, and I also like abandon them before the big fights, on the hypothetical urge I want to re-fight a boss at an appropriate level an infinite number of times), so I've amassed a fair few of my own.
Why am I uploading these now? Apparently the Nexus database got borked a couple days ago, so this is the perfect time for me to get a few feet in the door. I also swear this is the last time I'll ever post about these, seriously.
EO Nexus -A total of 100 Guild Cards are needed to unlock the Vampire pseudo-class. Obviously, 100 is a lot, so they obviously expected the community, paltry it may be, to come together to make a database. And they did. And then they locked it the second they got 108. And then it died. So now I finally get a second chance to contribute.
Galeforce
Tumblr media
-My first (main) playthrough. I actually uploaded a card weekly to help out, but I think only the first one made it on in time. It's not Heroic because it's like a NG+++++ file. This is the final card, but for the weekly set of them, um, here:
Week 0 || Week 1 || Week 2 || Week 3 || Week 4 || Week 5 || Week 6 || Week 7
Stardust
Tumblr media
-Filled with all my C-listers that couldn't fit into Galeforce. I ran them as two separate teams; the Boss Killers (shown here), who fought the FOEs/Bosses, and Team Midriff, who did all the exploration.
Sunstorm
Tumblr media
-A Guild consisting of classes I mostly avoid using, and portraits I hadn't (as of its conception) used before. As always, there's like another three members that get used that aren't here, including a Survivalist, Nightseeker, and an Arcanist.
Maelstrom
Tumblr media
-An attempt at a Nuzlocke-esque run, and also an 'evil' party. Characters stopped being used if they died, but only until the end of the stratum, to not make it overbearing. Being an evil party lacking in support and healing, this was an absolute slog that I considered a total failure by the Jungle.
Brilliant
Tumblr media
-An idea for a mage-guild that kinda went askew. Starting as a Sovereign, three Zodiacs, and a Farmer, I ultimately turned this into three single-element teams; Each consisting of a unique Sovereign, a unique Zodiac, two other characters that get earlygame elemental skills (Survivalist's Flame Arrow, Landsknecht, etc.), but the same Farmer (Hazel) across all three. Didn't take it all that far, but worked kinda well!
EOV -Definitely where Guild Cards are seen the most. About 2-4 times every floor, there'll be an event that'll use you GC database to have another guild interact with you in the labyrinth. If you have none, you'll be introduced to memelord Conrad of the Freeblade Guild about 110 times in your course of a playthrough. In stark contrast, Nexus only has GC events maybe a dozen times across the whole game.
Starlight
Tumblr media
-Main guild. Not a lot to say. It's a Chain-oriented party, because I love Fencers/Landsknechts.
Bundt
Tumblr media
-Cake pun. See, bundt is a type of cake, and the guild is filled with Brouni. As in Brownies, the fairy/pixie/sprite, but I'm punning off the--- ANYWAY. Horrific offense, but don't die easily. Kinda miserable against a few specific enemies like the coffin jerks on 15F, but otherwise worked astonishingly better than you'd expect. Which is; not GOOD, but totally serviceable.
Necrocosm
Tumblr media
-My original 'evil' guild, featuring two Necromancers, and edge as far as the eye can see. Two Necros work pretty well together; typically Velvet summoned them and Rue made them explode. The fact Necros heal and have evil vibes let them succeed where Maelstrom would totally fail. I also didn't bench anyone for dying, so that probably helped too.
Firebird
Tumblr media
-This playthrough is only saved at Amalgolem and took like a single weekend to get there, so I didn't remember squat about it. Amalgolem is like my single fave boss in the whole series, so I just had to leave a file there. It's heavily skewed towards non-humans, and the bottom deck of the guild is just full of nigh-on unusable cross-classed horrors, like a Celestrian Pugilist and Therian Warlock.
EO2U -Probably where Guild Cards are the most functionally useful. Lets you get the Grimoire Stones the attached character has on hand as many times as you can afford. Pretty nifty, as Grimoires are semi-random in spawning.
Skyquake
Tumblr media
-So I didn't actually buy EO2U when it came out for a variety of factors, not least being unaware how different it was from the original EOII, my first EO game. So I've only started this and Untold I fairly recently.
Ironroot
Tumblr media
-Holy Gift gives you extra experience, but each level costs twice as much to trade as the previous. That is, you need two level 3 Grimoires to get a level 4. Or 128 level 3s for a single level 10. So having a Guild Card with lowish level Holy Gift is actually pretty dang useful to have.
Untold
Tumblr media
-Story Guild. Haven't… uh, haven't exactly been Motivated to do Story mode in Untold 2. On paper, I really dislike the team composition. In practice, hasn't been so bad, but still not enough to make me play them more than necessary.
Fellbloom
Tumblr media
-Now legally required Evil Guild. Probably won't ever get past Chimaera.
EOU -Unlike the sequel, Guild Cards don't let you choose what to get from the friend's Guild Card. You just get given a random Grimoire Stone once per playthrough per Guild Card. Kinda lame.
Tumblr media
Untold -Unlike later games, only one save file here, and the game nigh-on requires you to play through the Story Mode before doing Classic in NG+, so, that's where we sit.
EOIV -First game to use QR codes. III had Guild Cards, but I don't know how you'd trade them. They do serve a purpose here; each Card gets given a random treasure, and having a Card lets you find that treasure in the overworld. Most are crap, but some are circumstantially useful, and some are permanent stat-boosts, IIRC. I don't think mine was very good…?
Zephyr
Tumblr media
-Uh, EOIV had a glitch where your Ventured Days would go up dramatically every time you paused. I think it comes into affect if you ever do NG+. So I haven't actually played for 48 in-game years. Truth be told, now knowing of a way to back up save files, I am admittedly tempted to make a new EOIV playthrough, since it's been like a decade, but for my own sanity, I really probably shouldn't.

👁️👄👁️ 4 playthroughs and I finally figured out what I was goofing re:Necromancy of Thay.....
Give Astarion the unlocked book in Act 1
Astarion cutscene where he reads the book
I ASSUMED this means his playable character has read the book and unlocked the first necro spell, which is Speak With Dead
HOWEVER
I am dumb
I usually respec him to Gloom Stalker Ranger by then which I think gives him Speak With Dead as a class spell 🤦🏻‍♀️
But I thought he had learned the SWD spell from the Necromancy of Thay
So when I take him to Sorcerous Sundries in Act 3, he reads the Codex, reads the Necromancy, and then nothing happens :(
So I think to myself "dang I guess u can't give Astarion the Necromancy in Act 1 and u have to read it urself"
But this time I was smart
And I had him read the Necromancy a 2nd time just in case
And lo and behold
A new scene showed where he was able to read thru the book using the Codex 😑
And he got the Danse Macabre
Hurrah
So the cutscene where Astarion's reading the Necromancy of Thay does not in fact mean that his playable character was successfully reading it, and you have to make his playable character do it too 😭
Lesson learned haha

bg3 playthrough 🗡️
not me wondering about where I’m gonna get funds for some amour (which im wondering do i even need it) from a merchant whom I tried to pickpocket, and failed no matter how many times I tried with astarion..
we’re now rich..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is all thanks to finally finding minsc. we ended up robbing the vaults, btw thank you cleaners for the note about cleaning 😉 even the ones behind those bars which took me a moment to think how to get behind ... we used a teleport spell which gale learnt and used it on astarion so he could lockpick all the vaults... we headed to the sewers to retrieve minsc (the fight in the sewer was easy cause we'd already killed all the bhaal ppl before, so it was just him fake jaheira and a zhentarim)
before heading to camp we fought off some mummys, zombies, crawling hands, in the sewers guarding chests of gold (I missed them my first trip down there) which almost ended in disaster, well it did cause even tho we were cursed to take 2-12 necro damage if we used a spell, my tav used one to heal everyone else and unfortunately didn't make it, astarion and jaheira were down, but gale was there to back them up, and resurrect lobelia, my tav.
I haven’t even sold the jewellery, amour, and weapons yet and we have 33k.. seriously my face when i opened the little pouch gale pulled off the body of the zhentarim person he stopped running off..
Tumblr media
don't judge my camp chest its a mess because i just sent everything back to camp as we stole it, and haven't sorted through it yet

Half tempted to erase my necromancer and start over just for fun.
I get this way with video games sometimes. Like how with Pokemon it takes me multiple playthroughs before I feel like "okay THIS is the end game run"
Yes I know the new season starts in like, 3 days. I just don't feel like playing anything else while I wait lol.
Least now I know some stuff the game did not explain well at all. And that exp is way easier to get.
Also I can use it as an excuse to take screenshots since there were a few really cool shots with my Necro that I didn't take because I thought it'd be like d3 and they'd just let you loop from the end of the story to the start of it.
Yes I could just make an alt and keep my original necro but meh. Like I said I get weird with video games sometimes.
Also if I puss out of my idea I can at least undo the character delete if the necro was my most recent deletion.

tumblr, i hereby present you your new child. you made her!
i'm glad this exact combination won the polls to be honest. necro is just what i feel most comfortable playing, so that just made my story playthrough a whole lot smoother and especially more fun. and i dont actually have a charr commander yet, nor have i ever really played through all the charr personal story, so i'm happy that charr caught up last second!
and yes, she's based on the vacation cat :3
thank you so much again to everyone who took part in the polls! i expected them to maybe get 40 votes or so, but they ended up with over 150! so thank you so much, and please accept nona as your collective soon to be commander child <3

Nona Blightsoul, she/her, born 1302 AE, Ash Legion, Necromancer
Nona is ordinary. Not average, not at all, but certainly ordinary. And she isn't ashamed to admit that, after all, a soldiers best quality is to fall in line and do what they're told, and that is something Nona is absolutely great at.
She knows what her life will look like: fight for Ash until the bitter end, staying loyal to the Legion and her Warband, and obviously, never end up like her sire. It's all going to be simple. She will fight, rise, win. Eventually, she will die, and become another necromancer's minion. In life and in death, she will serve Charr kind. Anything beyond that does not concern her.
Everything's just so damn easy, isn't it? Getting orders, following orders, winning, repeat. Be a good soldier. Fall in line. Live and die for Charr kind.
And then, one day, everything does get a little more difficult.
