This is what @aparticularbandit and her RP blog of Jessica Rabbit has done to me. (Except I didn't discover it at 3am, I discovered it at a normal time.)

Seriously, Timeline Canon is an amazing story. You've got the first half, which covers Jessica's origin story as a toon with a less-than-family-friendly Purpose, and how she meets Roger and leaves the people who hurt her and marries her honey bunny. So far, so positive.

But then you're hit with the second half. Goodness gravy, the second half.

See, Jessica always wanted to be human, because humans have more rights and more freedom than toons. And one day, she gets what she'd wanted, when a genie turns her into a human. But the genie also turns Roger into a rabbit - a real, fluffy, mindless white rabbit. And Jessica will do whatever it takes to get her husband back.

Bandit has a truly captivating writing style. It's atmospheric. It's full of inventive imagery. It sucks you into Jessica's unique way of seeing the world. And the world itself takes Who Framed Roger Rabbit and expands it, delving into the darker implications of toons being discriminated against, while keeping the wonder and fun of imagining cartoons in the real world.

Reading Timeline Canon was an experience unlike anything I've ever read before. It made me smile, and sometimes chuckle. It made me sit back and ponder deep philosophical questions about life, death, love, happiness, and second chances. And it made my eyes water on more than one occasion, especially towards the end. It moved me more than many published novels have managed to do.

(I should pause the effusive praise to note that Timeline Canon wasn't just Bandit's fanfiction - a lot of other roleplayers contributed to making it what it is. I particularly enjoyed the writing style of Willow, a.k.a. @ican-giveyoustars, who played Roger.)

Basically, if you like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Jessica Rabbit, and having your heart ripped out your chest and torn to pieces (metaphorically speaking), then you'll probably like Timeline Canon!

There’s fanfiction…. And then there’s FANFICTION. The kind of shit you happen upon at like 3am or some other ungodly time because you were trying to find a fix for ur fixation at the time and you are just SUCKED IN and every sentence feels like a line of cocaine and it has quotes and imagery that permeate your brain and it’s the shit that sticks around in your consciousness forever and it never goes away and it’s always going to be one of Those Fics.

okay, hopefully this link works, but i created a new page with updated links - looks the same, but all of these links should work. some of them will not work on the app because they're threads, so that's collaborative exchanges between mostly me and another writer, so the links have /chrono at the end so that you can read them from beginning to end instead of backwards - but for some reason the /chrono links will not work on the app. i don't know why. but they should on a mobile browser! and they definitely do on desktop.

if you want me to fix the links on the second half of the timeline (i think that's the one on nearlostcauses) or the other alternate timeline, let me know and i can fix those, too!

  …reading old threads and running across the tag...

Yeah that was terrible. I often go back and look at cute moments with Jess and Shadow though. Like when Shadow was turned into a child and gave her a kiss on the cheek, and when Jess clocked him in the head accidentally. They might have been on previous blogs though.

They’re probably on the first blog?  I’ve been reading ones on there and on the nearlostcauses sideblog for her.  Some of the drabbles, too.  I’d completely forgotten about that tag until it showed up at the end of one of those threads.  ...and then I clicked it and looked at the other stuff in the tag like an idiot.  T.T

@aparticularbandit, I know I've blogged about your Jessica Rabbit writing before and how much I love it, but I wanted to reblog this to let you know that I still love it. I still revisit my favourite oneshots and threads from Timeline Canon. It still hits me in the feels.

Plus, I've bern checking out your other works recently (like "Gently Down the Stream", the WandaVision rewrite with America and Viv, and "Oh, Worm", the Danganronpa oneshot) and I just love your writing style!

Did the Timeline Canon story of Jessica Rabbit have a title? The individual threads and books are all named, but did you ever give the entire story a title? (I've been referring to it in my head as "The Cream in His Coffee".)

I don't think I ever gave the entire story a title. I just referred to it as Timeline Canon. XD

Like - I had another verse with Jess and Alana, a modern au, that ended up being so different it gave birth to oc!Jess as opposed to Rabbit!Jess. And that was always Journey-verse.

Mostly I just referred to the story arcs by their verses, although Timeline Canon was the result of multiple threads across multiple verses. And even the books - they're separated that way there, but I was more likely to refer to - at least the nearlostcauses stuff after Roger got turned into a rabbit and Jess into a human - by their verse names: At The Seams, where Roger was a rabbit up until his death, and then As They Fall, for everything after.

(And then Vision verse, which I think became Every Breath (Hallelujah) or something like that when I switched accounts? That's what the fic ended up getting titled, although I didn't finish that. I was not a great Mulder writer, though I tried.)

Thank you so much fir fixing the timeline page for thecreaminhiscoffee! I thoroughly enjoyed the stories, and your takes on Roger and Jessica Rabbit's relationship! I'm so grateful to you for making the threads readable! :-) Do you know if you'll do the same for the timeline for nearlostcauses?

Yes, thank you, sorry I didn't answer your other ask, I saw it and then intended to answer when I had those links fixed!

They aren't fixed currently, but I plan on fixing them for you! (I've actually fixed the ones with Scully before and am. frustrated with tumblr for changing how links function so most of them don't anymore. The one with the Greek title, ironically enough, still does??? Don't ask me why; dear tumblr.)

The past few weeks have just been. mentally rough for me. So it's like - sometimes I can do things and sometimes I'm not in a good place for doing things! And when I've been in a place for doing things, I've been prioritizing fixing things here or writing. (I have been writing something with Jess, actually! That's borne out of that timeline! ...ish! I'm just. very very slow right now. I was on a much better writing schedule last year. And the year before that. This year has just been rough!!)

She doesn’t dare say ‘no,’ doesn’t dare ask her what she’s doing for fear of scaring her off, yet the weight of unspoken questions still hangs in the scant air between Jess’ torso and her own back.                                                           What are you doing?                                                                                    Why now?                                                                                                  What changed? A part of her almost feels that it is her duty to say no, insists that Jessica must not be in her right mind. If she was, her hands would surely not be wandering.                But that part of her is silenced by the desire that                she’s felt glowing in her core for so long, so instead                of speaking up, she simply leans in, pressing her                body against the other woman’s with a silent ap-               peal that she continue.

She has a difficult time denying Jess things (unless, of course, she’s denying the possible validity of her past). Which is odd, because actions like this tend to be equally beneficial to herself, and she suffers from a deeply engrained habit of self-denial.                                       Maybe this is the sort of thing that she needs to break it. Their touches are gentle, if a tad aloof on Scully’s part as she nervously tries to find beat and follow and fall in-to the pattern that defines dancing.         Cooking, dancing, genuine intimacy - these are the         things that always seem to fall beyond her scope,         and the latter two are both present here.
