β° β β§ β @neardeathdetective asked: β"My....you have quite the funeral procession behind you." Vivia hadn't entirely meant to voice his thoughts, but perhaps it was just the surprise at the amount of malicious spirits following this child around. Were they called here by them? Or were they attracted to them for some reason? Vivia couldn't be sure with the little information he had.
"Doesn't it get tiring, to carry around all of that burden?"

@neardeathdetective continued from x :
Get... Inside the fireplace? I mean he did always wonder on how it felt inside there... But then again he didn't like the idea of how cramped in there. And maybe there will be soot still lingering around. Which of course can cause anyone to sneeze. Though Vivia never did such. He just read his books all day. Well... Yuma didn't have anything better to do. And he already was kneeling on the ground. Just to be in eye level with Viva. Yuma always felt bad that he had to look up always. Shinigami was sure to get a kick out of this... Already the small detective can hear her cackling. Which he let out a small sigh.
"Uhm... sure if you don't mind that is? I won't steal your spot I promise! Just seem rather lonely in this place Vivia. But I know the chief has keeping an eye on you too. Seems like he deeply cares about our well beings. Which so do I! Maybe I can give you a pillow or something so you can be more comfortable in the fireplace?"

@neardeathdetective asked : Crawls out from underneath the nearby piano, stands near dark while slouched over - then cracks his back as he stretches and is a head taller than dark. How's the weather down there shortie
' feh ! careful now , don't want to start falling over from that height if you let your head get too big . ' what , was this guy trying to pick a fight ?! go back to shrimping and laying around in creepy places ! right now ! otherwise , he might just poke you in the eyes or hit you in the back of the knees , or the most soft and sensitive part of the ankle . there were at least a hundred different ways to cut this bastard down to size ! besides , no matter how tall , he didn't see vivia flying through the sky with a glorious pair of wings ! ' only idiots try to lord crap like heights over everyone else . ' says the guy who , had vivia been shorter , would have most certainly lorded his height over the other .

of whether or not their words upset the lingering spirits even further. It was the spirits' faults for simply not moving on, right ? The spirits didn't HAVE to hang around and listen to the two of them ? Kind of CREEPY really.

This must be the influence that Yuma had on him, for he suddenly felt the need to simply help the child. Or at the very least, be someone they could relate to. Vivia knew how lonely it was, having only the dead as close company. Despite the uneasy feeling he had from the angered mass of spirits behind the child, the need to help was still present. How long had it been really, since he felt such a pull on his own accord?
"Yes, I know exactly what it is like." It was almost laughable, how similar they were when it came to their experiences with the dead. Not exact, as he's never had to deal with a mass of raging spirits like the crowd that followed this child, but still, close enough that Vivia knew all too well the weight on the child's shoulders. "They can neither be satisfied or do anything to help their circumstances, and stick to people like us like glue as a result. But nothing we do or say will have any affect on them." Unless perhaps there was a proper spirit medium involved, but those were few and far between. Vivia could easily communicate with ghosts while in his own spiritual form, but that didn't mean he went around solving every lost soul's problem. If he did, well, he would really be like Yuma is, wouldn't he?
"I suppose today is an 'ignoring them' day, then." His attention finally turns fully to the child, trying not to judge based on the entourage with them. Everyone had their own reasons and motivations, he should take the time to figure out theirs before making any harsh judgements. "I'm Vivia Twilight." He introduces himself at the very least.

The wave of anger that rolled off these ghosts was palpable for Vivia, in a way that he looked as if he was about to be sick. He covers his mouth with his hand for a moment, letting his nerves calm down and the nausea subside. While the child had the same kind of affinity that he did, it seems that Vivia was more in tune with the dead, thus his reactions were a little more severe. Perhaps it simply came with age, or experience, but he hopes Yumeno doesn't have to deal with this kind of feeling in the future.
He shakes his head to clear it before looking back at Yumeno. "It is, isn't it?" He hummed for a moment before putting his hand down. "It's nice to meet you, Yumeno." He wasn't much of a smiling person, but he at least tried to give a half smile at the child who was beaming so brightly.
"Say...." He hummed, looking around them for a moment. At the very least, most people weren't stopped or staring at them because of their strange conversation. They couldn't see the spirits, but their conversation wasn't exactly private. "I'm new to the city," Vivia said, turning his attention back to Yumeno. "Do you know where the closest hotel is?"
He pauses, wondering if a child would even pay attention to that kind of thing. "Or a bookstore, either or."

wasn't something the child particularly liked. It felt as if the PAST was haunting them; reminding them of the crimes that they had committed ( and the crimes of SOMEONE ELSE too ). How the hell did they get such an ability ? Was that paranormal sight simply part of Dogra Magra ? Or was it something much more ? Maybe they'd never knowγ

€Surely, the man did. There weren't many other people LIKE the two of them after all.
"A bad day?" He echoed aloud. Well, that was certainly one way to put it. While the detective knows it's more than that, he decides it's better not to question it. Truthfully, the spirits are trying to speak to him, beg him for help - or lure him in to join them. It's painful to even look at them, so he focuses on the child instead. This was no ordinary child, that was for sure. Either this was a defense mechanism or....something more sinister was at work. Perhaps a bit of both, but Vivia wasn't one to push a child to speak on unnecessary things. He would instead focus on keeping his own wits about him, lest the mass of rage consume him when he's not paying attention.
"Yes, I suppose a bad day," They only spare the spirits one final glance before looking back at Yumeno. "-- would make spirits rather grumpy, as you put it." He feigns a small chuckle, fingers coming up to his lips as he attempts something resembling a smile. "I do hope they're not ruining your day too."

Though the child didn't exactly answer the question at hand, they at least confirmed that they were able to see the mass of spirits behind them. The fact that they could be so cheery is astonishing, but perhaps it was just a defense mechanism. He couldn't say for sure without questioning the child more.
"I have been able to see such things since I was about your age, maybe even younger." Definitely younger, he thinks in retrospect, but doesn't correct himself aloud as he continues. "Though this is my first time seeing a mass simply...full of hatred. You must have done something awful to them."
He frames it almost like a joke, but he does keep an eye out for the child's reaction.

' WHOSE EGO IS FRAGILE ?! ' not his ! all of him was amazing ! he had no interest in being any taller , anyways ! everyone already loved him for the perfect proportions of his body , unlike this guy , who might as well have been part frankenstein's monster !
arms cross ; the great phantom thief lets out an enormous , haughty huff . ' --- what ? ' it's hardly an intellectual response , but who knew what vivia was saying anymore ? dark had conveniently stopped paying attention . ' an idiot's an idiot . that's all there ever is to it ! '
"Is your ego really so fragile...." He was just stretching!!! The audacity, really. Still, Vivia chuckles as he slouches back to his normal posture, still a bit taller than Dark but not as a dramatic difference as when he stood at full height. He was the tallest in his family, so he was used to the comments about being 'too tall'.
"And what of those who try to make others feel bad for something they cannot control..." Vivia raises an eyebrow. "Are they not too, idiots, as you say?" It's meant to be a joke, but Vivia is so deadpan and monotone that it might as well not be.
