can we angels have a nico di angelo stats update as of today's latest chapter?? like insta followers, twt followers, monthly listeners that typa stuff 😁😁😁

YES of course!! i hadn't mentioned it in a while bc from nico's pov, it's never been something he's worried too much about, and quite honestly i hadn't thought about it in a bit either so i had to do a little research (aka, looking up celebs that i think have a relatively similar sized fanbase/what i most recently said - according to the last chapter of talk your talk, he had 5 million insta followers, and 5 million monthly listeners when he went back to school post-haunted)

since the end of talk your talk, he's released new romantics and been on a world tour

for twitter, it seems to be less than the number of insta followers, usually about 1/6 - 1/3-ish of a celeb's insta follower count

he's released a whole ass album since that 5 million monthly listeners, and new romantics charted pretty high

monthly listeners count how many individual users listen to the account, not the total number of streams (hence why the weeknd is higher than taylor in terms of that, because he has more really popular singles rather than having fans returning to albums and whatnot, which would be more of a nico thing

and streams in general were less in 2019 (not a huge difference, but a difference nonetheless)

for reference of that, noah kahan has 36m monthly listeners and is 96th in the world; sabrina carpenter has 39m monthly listeners and is 82nd in the world (and just released a single that's expected to chart top 10 next week)

so i think a rough estimate would be abt this:

insta - 6.2 million

twitter - 1.6 million

spotify monthly listeners - 35 milllion, 95th in the world

bonus thoughts:

most streamed song - getaway car, 800m streams (used nonsense by sabrina carpenter as a reference)

latest release - new romantics, 130m streams

apollo's insta - 11.1 million (i mentioned he had 9 million right when haunted was released)

leo's twitter - 290k (he swears that one day he's going to surpass nico and he's slowly getting there,,, very slowly bc he has to actually tweet things instead of just releasing albums and letting the followers come LMAO)

so yeah these are my estimates for now!! feel free to let me know if you think differently, because tbf, i don't really track any of these things and have limited celeb popularity knowledge, the only thing i really track are billboard charts bc they're fun😭 hoping for espresso to get in top ten this week!!

mayhaps a stupid question but uhm. what does nda3 stand for

not a stupid question at all!! a lot of the times when referring to albums that we don't know the name of, fanbases will just call it the artist's initials and then which album it is

for example, taylor swift's 12th album - not announced yet, we don't know the name. but if we wanted to talk about it, we would call it ts12, because her initials are ts and it's her twelfth album

artists will also call albums like this when not revealing names (like recently, maisie peters has been teasing mp3 - maisie peters' third album) and so on!

so when i say nda3, i just mean nico di angelo's 3rd album. (irrelevant, but i also find it really funny that his initials spell out nda, like a non-disclosure agreement) - even though i could just call it graveyard, because i've already revealed the name, but sometimes in fan tweets i may be talking abt "nda3" or, eventually "nda4" and so on!

I'm currently rereading talk your talk, its so good! And I've forgotten if you've posted a concise list of Nico's songs anywhere?

I saw you mentioning that you kind-of based Lou Ellens youtube channel on hthaze, and watched his reactions for the Nico songs. I thought that sounded really fun to do! -but to do that myself I would need a track list (and look up the albums since I'm not very well-versed in Taylor Swift)

HELPSJD NO BC. it’s actually so concerning how real i feel like talk ur talk nico is at this point. ill see some random news online and be like “oh yeah, but actually nico broke that record-” and then remember that he doesn’t exist

i’m very glad that the fic is able to evoke the same fear that talk ur talk-verse angels have of nico dropping an album with me potentially dropping an album in a chapter….is it going to come next week? next month? hellooo! ok this is quite a long message so i completely understand if it takes you a while to get to it / if you don't listen to all the songs - no pressure at all!!

i have given you song recs before but i cannot stop obsessively thinking about your fic and so i wanted to share more ✨nico di angelo songs ✨ (or at least ones i think would fit interestingly)

firstly!! 'everything to help you sleep' by julien baker (i reccomended one of her songs last time to but they're all so nda coded) and this one fits esp with the recent chapter where nico had a nightmare. it has quite religious themes but feels a lot like it could be him talking to bianca 'thought i made out your reply / the seconds between sound and light' and 'if i scream a little louder, i know you would have heard it'. her song 'turn out the lights' also has a similar idea of not being able to keep away nightmares (that one is a bit more self-deprecating though - but also one id highly recommend!!)

and more by her!! 'good news' is from her first album and i love it a lot - it doesn't fit perfectly but some lyrics really do - 'your long hair, a short walk / my biggest fear and a slow watch' and then straight after 'always scared that every situation ends the same' only for the song to end with 'i ruin everything i think could be good news'

and then 'repeat' (still jb) is also very nico to me and maybe aimed more at will? 'say i miss you like a mantra til i forget what it means / doesn't matter what you tell me i just need to hear you speak' - i feel like it kind of has that same of theme of how nico feels like bad things will just keep happening to him over and over again.

also!! this might not fit super well as a nico song but 'cartwheel' by lucy dacus is so so so solangelo to me (my goal in life is to write a will solace-centric fic called 'skin scarred and sun-kissed lol) especially in your universe with nico's father - not so much the second verse though.

okay then 'dream state...' by lucy dacus could potentially be a devestating nico song about bianca. i mean it literally begins with 'we woke up to the thunder' 'and then the water came / and washed it all away' and then she says 'without you i am surely the last of our kind' (this song also has a sequel in '...familiar place')

then (final song lol) 'keep the rain' by searows (he even has a song called haunted which is also kind of nico and i thought was a funny parallel) feels very much like nico + therapy + talking to will: 'i don't know what steps to take / i do the easy ones until it helps' and then THE RAIN MOTIF comes through again 'when you keep the rain from coming'

and i would just overall highly recommend listening to lucy dacus and julien baker!! i love them both so much as artists + they both have some of the best lyricism i have seen + their work is just very masterful

Hi! Do you have any tips for outlining a story?

The one I'm currently trying to work isn't cooperating with me when I try to use the methods I've used before

How do you outline? and do you have tips for what works for you?

(And I just wanna add that I really like Dear Reader, you're doing a really good job on it! and I am always looking forward to get to know more!)

hi!! yes, i do!! after writing a few multichaps, this is just what’s kinda worked for me, but know the writing in general is different for everyone, so i think the best advice i can give is keep adjusting what you’re doing until you feel that it works :)

that being said, my main tip is just to start large, and *then* get smaller. focus on the main events first: where are you starting? where are you ending? what big plot points occur throughout the story?

so for talk your talk (the first fic), i’d start with these main ideas (also, for me, i divided things into years, but depending on your timeline, that may instead be months/days/weeks, etc

dec, solangelo get together

2016

june, haunted

sep, getaway car

2017

grammys

june, doomsday

and so on - these are just the bare skeleton events of what i wanted to happen each year

and *then* i narrow it down, and i try to do a chapter by chapter outline just for the next few chapters- these are just a list of scenes that i want to get through, but a lot of the time they’ll end up being completely changed- which is good, bc the outline should be adjustable!

for greatest of luxuries, this was one of the chapter outlines i had in my docs

Chapter 7 (january-may)

studio work at apollo household, nda3 planning, delphi records thoughts (video recordings?)

nico’s birthday

columbia archery world cup in april

austin gets accepted into juilliard (post?)

greece concert

will passing out pre-finals

as you can tell, chapter 7 didn’t even make it to january. these events ended up spanning over the course of two more chapters, but it helped to have a sort of idea of what kind of scenes/events i didn’t want to miss, and the general timeline of those things

then the final step is right before i start writing the chapter - i write a little list of scenes/events i wanna do which can be smth like “seven excerpt, apollos reaction” or “kayla article”

again, sometimes this isn’t final. but that’s okay, bc my outlines tend to just be lists, and i’m very bad at figuring out pacing before i start writing- i trust that once i start actually writing the chapter, i can get more of an idea of how long the scenes will be, and ask myself if i have to cut a scene, or add another scene to the chapter!

this is just what works for me; as of now i have the next 6 chapters outlined, though that’ll most likely go more into another 10 or so chapters bc i tend to underestimate how much i end up writing😭
