saving will byers from that land of snot   &  destruction was probably the most important thing she’d ever done.   after the death of her sister, or what the newspapers classified as a death, she had given up hope that she was capable of saving anybody.    why had she joined the police force  ?   for the chance to do better, to be better.   joyce byers had given her that chance.   the kiss only lasted a moment, but it felt like a century to alex.   it was warm   &   slightly chapped, but wonderful all the same.   humming, she pulled away, but didn’t take her hands off of joyce’s cheeks.    ❝     i’m..   sorry.   i didn’t mean to make any assumptions.   feel free to slap me if i was out of line.    ❞

The building was mostly empty so late at night. Only Cat remained on the last floor, preparing herself for a gala she clearly didn't want to attend but had to. When she got outside her private bathroom, she found herself standing half-naked in front of the former assistant.

"Hm? Oh, Kara, you're still here? How convenient. Since you're there, wasting your time gaping like a fish out of the water, can you help me?" She turned around showing her exposed back to her, zip open down to her waist.

She knows they shouldn't, that things between them have changed, that she shouldn't want this anymore. She also knows there's a chance Rhea will reject her. Honestly, Alura wouldn't blame her. But she has to try. She has to try because even after all they've been through, part of her heart still burns for this woman. So she steps forward and, promptly forgetting whatever it is they've been arguing about, kisses the other fully and passionately.

The level of rage she sought to unleash , it was unable to be PROPERLY described in the heat of the moment when --- not only had she laid eyes on a GHOST OF HER PAST , but to be approached by her ... kissed by her ... she felt as though she was going to IMPLODE from the inside out . Nails sink into the warm flesh of her palms , creating tiny crescent moons that almost draw blood ( kryptonian poison ) , but Rhea forced herself to restrain herself JUST ENOUGH . She didn’t know what she was more angry about --- the fact that she was alive , that she had to see HER again after their last conversation all those years ago , or that she was still so bothered by Alura , still ...           How good this warmth felt , how the taste of sweet memory poured through her being without resistance ... and she was WELCOMING it . 

Tears pricked her eyes as hands immediately rush to rest on Alura’s shoulders , knocking her back with one FORCEFUL push . “ You have --- ” kiss-swollen lips spoke with a faint quiver , a tone that was on the BRINK of teetering between regality and anguish cracked within her words , “ NO RIGHT to even lay a hand on me . Not after what you said last , ALURA ZOR-EL . Not ---” Another rattle of her voice , a clear sign of her fractured heart tearing apart further , “ NOT AFTER WHAT YOU DID . ”

a tragedy like will byers’ death would surely leave the mother of the boy shaken up a bit.   alex couldn’t exactly relate, but she could do her best to listen to the things she was saying  ;   the things everyone else were ignoring.   gently, she stepped onto joyce’s front porch, knocking slowly on the door.   the agent had heard rumors of the woman   &   how she’d strung christmas lights up in her house to try   &   communicate with her dead son   -----    who she didn’t really believe was dead.    when the door opened, alex painted a small, genuine smile on her lips in greeting.    ❝     ms. byers  ?   my name is alex.   i was wondering if i could have a minute of time.   ❞

I also think it’s hard because everyone involved has gone through so much trauma and they’re fundamentally different now. i think a lot of clarke’s anger actually has nothing to do with nia but rather the fact jake missed all the new major events in her life. that and she doesn’t think it’s fair abby’s been beating herself up for almost two years while jake immediately cozied up to a new lover. so yeah.

Ooh, very good point. It's hard because they all believed each other was dead and so they went through these shifts alone and now it's ike "how does this puzzle fit together again?" Very intersting.
