Fast forward to the year 2023, in the bustling city of Osaka, Japan. The popular K-pop group NCT was holding a concert at a grand stadium, captivating thousands of fans with their electrifying performances. Little did they know that this concert would be a turning point in their lives.

As NCT members took the stage to deliver their heartfelt speeches, the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. But amidst the chaos, a figure appeared on stage, causing everyone, including the members themselves, to freeze in shock. It was Kun, dressed in his military uniform, standing tall and resolute.

In the midst of a world torn apart by conflict, I found myself drawn to a young woman named Yuka. Her enchanting smile and captivating spirit captured my heart from the moment our paths crossed. We were destined to be together, or so I thought.

As fate would have it, my love for Yuka was tested when I was called to fight in World War II against Japan. It was a painful irony to be torn between my duty as a soldier and the love I held for a woman from the very nation I fought against.

But my path to love was not without its challenges. My parents, in their traditional ways, sought to bring me back to China to marry a girl named Mei. Mei, too, made her way to Osaka, further complicating the love triangle in which Yuka and I found ourselves entangled.

Yet, amidst the rivalry and conflicting emotions, something remarkable happened. Mei and I, love rivals turned friends, discovered a bond that went beyond our shared affection for Yuka. We realized that love, in all its complexities, could bring people together, even in the most unexpected circumstances.

So here I stand, before you tonight, as a testament to the power of love and the unyielding desire for freedom. My journey, filled with twists and turns, serves as a reminder that love knows no boundaries, that it can bridge gaps and unite even the most unlikely of allies.

What makes NCT 127 so special?

Reason 1: The members are from all over the world

Taeyong: The first reason is that the members are from all over the world. Because we’re of different nationalities, we can learn about and deepen our understandings of each country’s culture and language in a natural way.

Yuta: Also, during recordings, for example, for our new Japanese version of “Limitless”, I checked the other members’ pronunciations. People from Korea tend to struggle with certain sounds, such as pronouncing the “tsu” sound as “chu”, and we can correct and teach each other things like that. Similarly, when we need help with Chinese, Winwin will teach us, and when we need help with English, Johnny and Mark will teach us. The fact that we can fill our gaps in these ways is great.

Reason 2: They have fun practicing for their performances

Taeil: I think the second reason is our stage performance. We always spend lots of time practicing. We plan everything out together, so when we perform it on the stage, it’s really something special. But honestly, there are times when I think practice is too much work (laugh).

Taeyong: Of course, practice is a lot of work, but we always have fun doing it and I think that shows through when we’re on stage. The harder we work, the better the performance will be.

Mark: Our performance is different for each song. We’re always thinking about how we can express each song in a fitting way. There are a variety of moods for our performances because we change our movements and expressions depending on the song, and I think that’s enjoyable to watch.

Reason 3: All 9 members have their own unique charm

Taeil: I think the third reason is that each of the members are special (laugh). We each have our own unique charms. So, combining the 9 of us, we make one “special” group!

Yuta: Because our nationalities and cultures are different and the environments we grew up in are diverse, it’s not very easy for all 9 of us to understand each other. However, when we do understand each other, a new bond forms between us, and that’s another reason why we’re so special.

What are the members like? 

<Jaehyun>

Haechan: As you can see, Jaehyun-hyung’s skin is very white and pure, but his heart is just as white and pure as his skin. Jaehyun-hyung and I are roommates, and he cares for me by doing little things like leaving the lights on for me when I’m still awake and doing something even though he wants to sleep. Jaehyun: (laugh). But there are also many times when Haechan cares for me as well.

Jaehyun: Mark is someone who is constantly and endlessly growing and improving. I can’t wait to see how much he will mature. Mark has changed in so many ways since our first meeting, but the thing that improved the most… is his cuteness (laugh).

Mark: This is something I’ve been thinking for a long time, but Yuta-hyung is someone that NCT 127 can’t be without. He has an open personality, is fun and handsome, and has a warm heart. He’s like that to everyone, so everyone’s very close to him. He’s especially caring to all of us during promotions in Japan, and he helps us a lot. Also, when he has something he wants to learn, he’ll work extremely heard to learn it. Yuta: (To Mark) I’ll treat you to something delicious (laugh).

Yuta: You can tell right when you hear our songs, but he has such a beautiful voice. Also, although the leader of our group is Taeyong, Doyoung supports us by being the mother figure and completes the job of the leader. Taeyong is our dad, Doyoung is our mom, and we’re the children. We’re constantly being nagged by those two so we need to be careful (laugh).

Doyoung: Taeyong-hyung has a strong sense of responsibility as the leader, and I’m thankful for his efforts to lead on the members. Also, I think that I can learn from his performance on stage, so I check him on the monitor a lot.

<Johnny>

Taeyong: As you can see, Johnny has the figure of a model. Also, just like Doyoung, he cares for me a lot and is considerate. Whenever I’m feeling stressed or closing myself off from others, he helps me open up again. He plays many important roles in our team, and he’s a true friend.

<Taeil>

Johnny: He really has a beautiful voice, so when I see him singing on the stage, I feel very proud of him. And I think everyone thinks this way, but whenever I’m together with Taeil-hyung, I have a lot of fun and I feel happy. Like that, he shows his “friend” side, but also sometimes he shows his “hyung” side as the oldest member of our team. He’s truly a wonderful person.

<Winwin>

Taeil: Firstly, isn’t he very handsome? Also, he has a very innocent personality. It’s fun being with him. There’s something about him that makes you want to tease and play with him, and even though we annoy him like this, Winwin always accepts it (laugh). With Winwin in our group, the atmosphere of our team is made friendlier and brighter.

<Haechan>

Winwin: Haechan is an amazing person. He thinks about many things very deeply, so even though he is the youngest in our team, he’s sometimes like an older brother. Also, when he wants to do something, he doesn’t spare any effort to reach it. For example, if he wants to get better at both dancing and singing, will work very hard and get better at them.

What are your thoughts on your Japan debut?

-It’s your long-awaited Japan debut!

Yuta: The fact that rookies like us were able to debut so early in Japan is all thanks to the many people that helped us, and most importantly, our supportive fans. Along with our debut, we’ll be having our first showcase tour (in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka) as well, so we want to return the favor as much as we can. We want to have lots of fun with everyone.

Taeyong: We’ve already participated in several events and stood on big stages in Japan, and those experiences left a good impression on me, so I’ve always been thinking “I want to go to Japan!”. When we debut in Japan, we’ll get more and more opportunities to meet our fans in Japan, and we’ll get to connect with each other more through the stage, so it means a lot to me. I’m excited and a little nervous but I want to send our bright and positive energy to everyone.

-Yuta, you’re debuting in your home country – do you have any other thoughts to add on?

I think NCT 127 was able to stand out from other Korean groups at events in Japan because I’m in it.Struggling with pronunciation for the first time recording in Japanese Along with the announcement of their debut in Japan, the music video for the Japanese version of “Limitless” was released. This was filmed separately from the Korean version, and it was their first time recording in Japanese – according to the members, they struggled with the pronunciations.

Taeyong: Pronouncing the “tsu” sound was difficult. Sometimes, even if our singing was great, we had to do another take because of just one mispronunciation of that “tsu” sound.

Jaehyun: Each of us practiced very hard for the pronunciations, Yuta-hyung tested us, and then we recorded after that. Yuta-hyung gave us lots of advice.

Taeyong: This is one of the perks of being a global group (laugh).

-Yuta, who was your best student?

Yuta: Everyone worked hard, but Jaehyun and Taeyong? (laugh) I got exhausted because all the members attacked me with questions (laugh), but we got to present a very good Japanese version of “Limitless” so I’m satisfied.

-You guys filmed a new music video for the Japanese version as well – what are the best parts of it?

Taeil: I think it turned out to be a cool music video full of fantastic scenes with lots of parts to look out for. We filmed it with the concept of us running away from something, so that’s something I want everyone to pay attention to closely.

Winwin: At the end, there’s a part where I jump, and I think that was shot very well. But we had to do many takes for that scene, which was a lot of work (laugh).

Taeil: Like that, there is a scene for each of the members’ charms. We were watching the music video ourselves and thought that it was great, especially how it shows our individual colors. I think all our fans will be able to feel our various charms by watching it a few times. It turned out to be a truly great music video.

Holding events in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka in one day

On November 4th, they held their first solo event in Japan “NCT 127 The Introduction “connect”. They first held their performance and debut announcement in Tokyo with all members, then separated into three groups to interact with fans in Nagoya (Taeil, Yuta, Haechan), Osaka (Johnny, Jaehyun, Mark), and Fukuoka (Taeyong, Doyoung, Winwin).

-What is your impression of the event?

Jaehyun: I’m happy we got an opportunity to meet all our fans so closely. All of our members thought this way, but I’m very thankful for everyone who welcomed us warmly and cheered for us. I want to continue to meet everyone like this all the time.

-Were there any fans that left a strong impression in Osaka?

Mark: I think this is embarrassing for Jaehyun-hyung to say himself, so I’ll say it for him (laugh). There was a segment where fans can directly ask one member a question, and when a fan held the mic and started to ask a question for Jaehyun, she broke down into tears. I was waiting and wondering what kind of question she would ask, and it turned out to be about how she loves Jaehyun-hyung so much to the point that she can’t get a boyfriend (laugh). That moment was pure and fresh and left a big impression for me.

-How about for the Fukuoka group?

Taeyong: It was actually the first time for us NCT 127 to go to Fukuoka.

Doyoung: This time, it was only the three of us, so we promised that we would come back next time with all of the members. It’s exciting even from now to think that we’ll get to meet all our fans in Fukuoka again next year, and I think our fans are waiting expectantly as well. I want to go meet everyone soon.

Taeyong: Our fans in Japan are all so lovely, and this makes us want to care for and do many things for them. I want to meet everyone on the stage again soon.

-For the Nagoya group?

Haechan: I went to Nagoya for the first time in my life, went on my first Shinkansen ride, and also ate the bento Yuta-hyung recommended me because I heard that eating bento on the Shinkansen is a popular thing to do. We got to meet all of our fans in Nagoya and did a fun event, so I got to make good memories.

Taeil: I also rode a Shinkansen for the same time, and that itself was fun. When I looked at the scenery outside the window, I saw the sea and it was very pretty. I’m very thankful for all our passionate fans in Nagoya. They welcomed us warmly and told us the answers for the games that we did (laugh). Thanks to our fans, all three of us got every question correct.

-What was the bento that Yuta recommended to Haechan?

Yuta: I recommended him a chicken bento, but Haechan said he didn’t want to eat it. Eventually, he ended up eating a scallop bento (laugh).

Haechan: Yuta-hyung was eating a wagyu bento, which he gave me a bite of, and that was delicious as well (laugh).

The key to making a dream come true

NCT 127 has made their dream of debuting as idols come true, and their debut in Japan has been confirmed as well. Here is some advice from the members to the readers about the secret to making your dreams come true.

Johnny: To make your dreams come true, I think you need to be stubborn. Even if someone tells you that you can’t do something or that what you’re aiming for is impossible, the chances of it actually coming true will be higher if you believe in yourself. If you have confidence and continue working hard, that dream will come true someday.

Mark: There is a quote from a film that I watched recently that touched me very deeply: what you’re going to do in the future – for example, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow – is something that has never been done by anyone yet. Because no one has done it before, no one knows whether it is the right or wrong thing to do. So, if there’s something that you want to accomplish, what’s important is that you believe in yourself that you can do it. What you need is a heart that will believe what you can’t see. The secret to making your dreams come true is to keep telling yourself that you can definitely do it.

Yuta: What I think is the most important is the courage to step out and start something. I used to be unsure about auditioning for S.M. Entertainment, but because I took the audition, the me now exists, and I am able to work as a part of NCT 127. Surely, taking that first step takes a lot of courage and is very difficult, but there’s always something that you can gain from it. Even if you fail, there are many things that you can learn from that failure and use that to push yourself in the future, so what’s important is to get started.

Hello everyone! :) Given that it’s barely 40 days to the big A’level examinations (aka a national exam that is taken by most 18 to 19-year-old Singaporean students), I have decided to take a short hiatus from this blog and I will only be back after my examinations officially come to an end on the 29th of November! I know it sounds like a long time, but don’t worry, I’ll be back with more (hopefully) quality content before you know it! ^^ 

Before I get to the main point of this post, thank you for all the support and love over these past few months since Produce 101 Season 2 and it’s so heartening to know that this blog has been growing steadily, currently with a total follower count of 622 followers! <3 No words can express how grateful I am for you all really and I am so happy to receive all your kind comments, as well as those simple likes and reblogs, because they truly mean a lot to me. :) Trust me when I say that without you guys, I would have probably stopped this hobby a loooong time ago. :’)
