It wasn’t like you to miss his calls or ignore his texts. The only time you would do that was when something terrible happened and you completely shut down. He walked over to your apartment, getting buzzed in by security, and taking the elevator up. He tapped his foot lightly, impatient from how slow it was moving. 

Finally, the door dinged and he moved towards your apartment, knocking a few times softly, “Y/N, open up.”

He waited patiently, knocking a few more times before trying the knob, realizing it was unlock. He hated that you sometimes left your apartment unlocked. Who knew who could be watching? Creeps were everywhere. He entered, locking the door behind him.

He turned the corner to find you sitting on your bed, head down, starting lifelessly onto your bed. You weren’t crying, you weren’t hurt, at least physically. What was wrong?

“Hey,” Renjun slowly moved to sit next to you on the soft bed, “What happened?” His hand moved to your cheek to caress it realizing a single tear fell.

“Who hurt you? I’ll kick his ass, you know I will!” He exclaimed, watching you carefully to see if you’d react. Nothing. It was like you shut your battery off. The only way he could tell you were alive was that you were breathing softly. It broke his heart seeing you like this. No smile. You had the most beautiful smile. No twinkle in your eyes. They would always sparkle with happiness. No energy. Even though you could be a lot at times, it always made him feel better after a long day.

“Y/N,” He trailed off, before moving closer and wrapping his arms around your shoulders. Your eyes widened slightly at the sudden touch. He pulled you closer into him as your head fell to his chest, hearing the sound of his beating heart. Tears began to spill over slowly as you came back to reality.

You gripped onto his shirt, scared he would leave you. The tears streamed down your cheeks as small sad whimpers left your lips. Finally, a sound from you. The sound pulled at his heart strings, but he was happy to know you were back. The Y/N he loved was back. She over came the darkness trying to consume her. 

“It’s okay, I’m here,” Renjun shushed as he ran his fingers through your hair, doing his best to sooth your pain. 

“Don’t leave me, please,” Was all your could muster out due to the pain in your chest. You clenched onto his shirt even tighter, not wanting to think of the only person you cared for leaving you. 

He smiled down at your small frame before pressing a soft kiss to your head, “Don’t worry, I’ll never leave you. Not even if you begged me to,” He rested his head a top of yours, pulling you into his lap as he laid backwards, allowing the two of you to comfortably rest.

“You need to get some rest. It looks like it’s been a hard day. Come on, let’s take a nap. We can talk about it once you calm down a bit,” He suggested, hearing you sniffle a bit before nodding your head. 

You calmed yourself to subdue your cries, moving slightly to get comfortable. You rested your head against Renjun’s chest, listening to his heart beat again, the one thing that could calm your nerves, no matter how terrible the situation was. 

You were thankful. You at least had him.

"why do i keep trying?" you finally spoke and more tears fell. "i did so bad..." you said, looking up to stare look at the view in front of you.

"i'm sure you did great! you won't know for a bit, right? we just need to wait for them to send an email or call you," renjun replied. "where are you?"

"the park near the audition place," you answered.

"stay there, okay? i'm coming right now!" he said before hanging up.

you wiped your face again with your sleeve and looked back down at the ground. a small sigh came out of you, and you closed your eyes for a second.

why do i keep trying to become a singer? i'm not even that good. i should just quit trying.

you wiped your face again and opened your eyes but noticed someone stand in front of you. a small bouquet of flowers appeared in your view, and you felt a kiss in your forehead.

"hi baby," renjun greeted and you looked up at him. "why are you crying? did you mess up?" he asked and wiped some tears away with his fingers.

you looked back at the ground, "i sounded horrible in there..."

"you can't judge yourself. you know that, silly," he said and sat down next to you. he reached in his pocket and handed you a few tissues. "this was a callback, which means that they saw something in you and that's why you got to audition again," he said and hugged you, "you're an amazing singer, remember that, even if you don't get in."

renjun kissed your head while you wiped your face with the tissues and blew your nose. renjun wiped away a stray tear and kissed your forehead again.

"hey, how about we go to the dorm?" he asked. "i'll make hot chocolate, and we can watch that new detective show together."

you slightly nodded, "okay." he smiled at you before kissing your forehead again.

you and renjun stood up from the bench, and he laced his hand with yours. "let's go," he said and you two started walking towards his dorm.
