I re-read your Fellow Honest study, and one thing to mention is that Riddle is immensely proud of having no one drop out or transfer out of Heartslabyul/NRC, right? His dorm is the only one at full capacity? This means dropping out of NRC isn't that uncommon, whether it's a money issue or a grades issue, and that's more people discarded simply because they couldn't keep up.
[Referencing this analysis!]
Mmm, that's true 🤔 I wonder how NRC's dropout rates compare to those of other magic schools and regular schools that do not train mages... I can't imagine that NRC has a ton of dropouts though, because otherwise I feel like more dorm leaders and staff would express concern about it? Like if a ton of students were dropping out, it would reflect poorly on their leadership and teaching skills, wouldn't it...? Maybe it's not mentioned because it isn't that relevant to the main story or Riddle in particular is super fixated on it (given how strict he is). At the very least, we know that NRC has a non-zero dropout rate. Even at a school that supposedly has the best and brightest mages-in-training, some will not make the cut.
As cruel as this may sound (sorry, Fellow), it's 100% understandable from a school's perspective why they wouldn't want to keep supporting students who continuously do not succeed and ultimately dismiss them. Many programs irl (especially those in higher education) set standards that students must meet and maintain until graduation if they want to remain in their program. It could harm the school's educational reputation if they do not produce "results".
In some cases, schools that fail to maintain a certain "pass" rate on specialized exams their students take may lose accreditation (an official “quality seal”) for their program(s). For example, irl nursing programs in the U.S. and Canada are put on probation if they have a class of students with an 80% or lower passing score on the NCLEX exam. They are given 2 years to "fix" this low passing rate; if this is not corrected, then the school's accreditation is revoked completely. A loss of accreditation can result in many other negatives, such as less financial aid dispersement and fewer job opportunities (/your diploma not being seen as “legitimate”).
That's unfortunately how it works. Granted, a school shouldn’t spite a student for not being able to keep up with the workload (which sadly may have been the reality for Fellow), but it really is in the institutions’ best interests to drop a student they fear won’t perform well.

What's the difference between a nurse and nurse practitioner?
They are two different "levels" in the nursing hierarchy.
Here's how that hierarchy works in the USA:
At the very beginning rung you have STNAs, or State Tested Nursing Assistants. STNAs have taken a class that lasts in the weeks-months range of time and received a certificate. They have then taken a test to prove that they understand the material. In a job context, STNAs do a lot of the direct patient care- they bathe and feed patients, take vitals, turn patients who cannot move for themselves, etc...
The next rung up is an LPN, or Licensed Practical Nurse. LPNs have gone to a nursing program lasting usually between 1 and 2 years, have received a diploma, and have taken a test called the NCLEX-PN. In a job context, LPNs can do everything an STNA can do, plus they can gather information about a patient's condition, pass medications (except some IV medications) and do many nursing interventions like wound care, placing IVs and catheters, etc... An LPN must work under the license of an RN.
The next rung up is an RN, or Registered Nurse. RNs have either an associates' degree (2-3 years) or a bachelor's degree (4 years) in nursing, which has allowed them to sit for a test called the NCLEX-RN. No matter which education route the nurse takes to get their RN the license is the same and they are allowed to do the same things in a clinical context. In a job context, an RN can do everything an LPN can do, but can give all medications (including IV) and are allowed to also make care decisions LPNs cannot. They also hold an independent license, meaning they can provide nursing level care without needing to be supervised by a higher license-holder.
The next maybe half rung up is a Certified Registered Nurse. These are nurses who have worked in a particular area of nursing (med-surg, psych, ICU, etc...) for a certain number of years and taken classes and a test to say they know a lot about that area of nursing. Now, unlike the nursing license itself, this certification is usually through a private organization instead of the state of practice. Certified Registered Nurses don't have any additional skills they can do, but they do act as a resource for other nurses and may get paid more depending on the organization they work for.
The next rung up is an APRN, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. An APRN is a nurse who has a masters degree or higher in nursing, and who, again, has taken a test. Here is where things get complicated. Because 4 different licenses fall under APRN:
Nurse Practitioner (NP). An NP is an APRN who works under a physician's license in some states and hold independent licenses in others. They are able to do a lot of things that doctors can do, including diagnose, treat, and prescribe (what they are able to prescribe depends on the state they are in). NPs specialize in a specific patient population, and they can only work with the type of patient they have specialized in.
Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). A CNS is an APRN who acts as a consulting nurse. Basically, they have gotten specific education in a specific area of nursing for a specific population, and they consult with the multidisciplinary team, generally at a hospital, about the nursing care for that type of patient. CNSs typically cannot prescribe medications, but may prescribe nursing interventions.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). A CRNA is an APRN who works as an extension of an anesthesiologist. They provide anesthesia during surgery and procedures.
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). A CNM is an APRN who delivers babies and helps mothers and children through the entire maternity and birth process. They may also do things like women's health exams, nutritional counseling, and the like.

“21 May 2021”
Still in awe.
First of all, I would like to thank my family and friends for being my inspiration through this journey. This one is for you!
I would like to thank also IRT Philippines - NCLEX Online Coaching (Sir Jhon Perey and Sir IRT4) for equipping me with knowledge that I need to conquer NCLEX. I used to review on my own for almost 2 years and it was tough not knowing where to start first, what books to read, what topics to focus on so on and so forth. It was the best 1 month review. Every hour during review was worth it. For those are going to, or are planning to take the NCLEX, the key that worked for me was the combination of lectures, notes and using Uworld.
Lastly, I want to thank our Lord for everything. I owe it all to you.

Today has been a tough one. I looked into what it would take to reinstate my nursing license in case I get offered that job at the Red Cross. I’d have to take the NCLEX again since my license expired more than five years ago. And it’s expensive to take and you pray you pass. I took my boards 10 years ago, I’m not prepped to do it again. So I texted my sister…
So that made me feel like shit. I didn’t respond. I then talked to my dad about it. He agreed with her feeling, I need to look out for my mental health. I get where they’re coming from, but it hurts. I agree with them though, I’m just not capable of it, even I don’t have confidence in myself that I could be a nurse. (Granted I did pass my boards in 75 questions, which is the minimum, in an hour, the first time I attempted. And I graduated at the top of my class. So I have the smarts.) I cried so much today. Dad and I talked, but I really wished mom was here so that I could talk to her. Dad said she’d agree with him, and I know he’s right, but it’s not the same.
I mean, I haven’t even been offered a job yet, so why am I even stressing about making a decision? I hate big decisions, and this is/will be one. *sigh*

Hey Ree! I’ve been thinking about going to school for nursing but I honestly have no idea where to start who to ask or what to do. Could you please give me any advice.
Hiiii!
First do your research!
There are 2 year programs or 4 year programs
2 years you would have an AA and take your NCLEX to be an RN or you can do 4 years and have a bachelor's degree which is preferred now. (But you can do 2 years and sometimes your job will pay for you to get your bachelor's depending on where you get your first job)
2 years is community college and 4 years is a university
And some people take the LPN route!
Figure out which one is best for you. Once you do, you have to decide which school you would like to go to. Look up their program and see what is required of you, such as prerequisite classes (math, chemistry, etc.), and what is required for you to be ACCEPTED into the program.
I hope this helps! 😘💕

Intravenous Therapy: The Role and Responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse
LPNs and nursing students may start and continue intravenous therapy under the supervision of physicians or medical professionals permitted to issue medical therapy or remedial measures directives from nursing schools in a variety of healthcare settings (such as a CRNP or physician assistant or dentist).
Let’s Look at the Roles and Responsibilities of Practical Nurses During Intravenous Therapy
Practical Nurses shall be understood to refer to a licensed business under Article 28 of the Public Health Law. An intravenous therapy facility may permit specially trained advanced practice nurses to administer intravenous therapy procedures. The establishment must ensure that all nurses licensed to administer intravenous therapies have successfully finished a training prerequisite course, had clinical training under supervision, and are competent in performing intravenous treatment procedures. Intravenous therapy technical training programs (diploma programs) must include a minimum of education in:
Methods and Regulations of the Facility Regarding Intravenous Therapy
The hospital's quality standards certificate program from private schools as well as a regulatory compliance strategy.
Intravenous therapy: Human Anatomy & Physiology
The intravenous treatment medicines and remedies and their pharmacological and medicinal uses.
Intravenous combining procedures, medication, and solutions in the nursing field.
The indicators and symptoms that indicate complications or unfavorable effects of intravenous therapy.
The functions, use, and fundamentals of nursing care and patient care (primary care) and operation of intravenous catheters.
Methods for Preventing Infection
1. The facility must ensure that a licensed practical nurse performs procedures for intravenous treatment in accordance with written rules and guidelines by practical knowledge. At least once a year, guidelines and procedures are examined and updated in clinical settings.
2. The foundation must ensure that the personnel file of the licensed practical nurse contains documentation that identifies the finished training course(education courses), the duration and topic, and the approval to administer intravenous therapy.
3. The in-service education nursing program shall inform and update the licensed practical nurse about new intravenous treatment methods, instruments, or medications. LPN programs (practical nursing programs) should be completed as frequently as possible, but not less than once a year. They will also be recorded in the service record for the licensed practical nurse.
Some Diagnosis and Preventative Measures
Aseptic hand-washing is required for all treatments. Vital signs should be closely monitored. There are Cleaning, catheter, and cap replacements that must follow stringent standards.
Considerations and review with the prescriber or Patient Care and Safety
Monitor vital signs and blood work. C&S at the site according to the agency's approach.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the projected growth in the number of licensed vocational and practical nurses (graduate students) will be 6 percent between 2023-2031. This is about the same acceptance rate for all vocations.
In general, there will be 58,800 new openings each year for licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses over the next decade. Many of these openings will be caused by the college requirement to replace people who leave the workforce or transfer to other occupations.
Moreover, About LPN Programs
LPN and licensed vocational nurses work in a wide variety of locations, including clinics, healthcare facilities, private homes, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, clinical hours, and hospital settings in the healthcare field. Many work full-time in the department of nursing at clinical sites.
