Friday Favorites: Benches, Pretty Pillows, and Garden Towers

Hello there! Welcome to another week of Friday Favorites and Remodelaholics Anonymous! We love seeing and sharing great ideas — so send them our way! If you have a blog, you can link up below, and if not, drop us a line here or message us on Facebook. These week I've got some cute benches, pretty pillows, fun garden feature and so much more. I love to see all the creative ideas you share each week. It gives me such inspiration.

Favorite Modern and Easy to Build Bench: Grillo Designs certainly knows how to make a beautiful bench. Use hairpin legs and wood to get a lovely DIY bench.

Favorite Way to Display Cute Mugs: This simple and inexpensive build creates a cute way to store and display all your favorite mugs. Learn how to make your own over at Our Home Made Easy.

Favorite Outdoor Seating: Outdoor seating is always a great idea. Especially when the weather is warm. If you need a little more seating build an L-shaped bench like this one from Abbotts At Home that can be stuck right in a corner. 

Favorite Wagon: I don't mean like a wagon to pull around the kids. This is a plan to build your own utility wagon from Just Measuring Up. How cool it is to be able to carry loads around using a riding lawn mower.

Favorite Way to Add Visual Interest: Board and batten is a great way to add something special to a space. Mini House Mighty Hearts added it to their home before selling.

Favorite Garden Build: Add a pretty place for vines and plants to climb in your garden. She Holds Dearly built these gorgeous French Tuteurs and you can too!

Curtains

I have gone back and forth and back again about curtains for the baby's room. I think I've now landed on an idea.

Our room color looks like this:

There are hints of yellow, navy and gray throughout the room. We don't want to be married to one theme or color. I think we're moving along alright so far. The crib sheet is navy with elephants thanks to Pottery Barn Kids. The changing table is from Ikea and I have big plans for that bad boy. Alright. Maybe not "big" plans....but I intend to jazz that baby up a little bit. As mentioned previously, I purchased the golf tee print off Etsy from the shop Alley Kids. That isn't where it will "live", but it is hanging out there right now. I made the ottoman with a little help from a Better Homes and Gardens tutorial. I purchased the fabric on the cheap from Fabric.com.

We also purchased a navy glider that we hope will make an arrival in the next 2-4 weeks.

Now...back to the title of the post. I've been going every which way with curtains. At first I wanted to do wide horizontal striped curtains. Then I decided that may be too heavy for the room with the navy glider. I've considered a wide variety of options, but I was trying to find a damask, medallion or similar print with gray, yellow, navy, and white in it. Well, I've been searching high and low, and I can't find anything I love. So I decided I would make my own curtains once I found a fabric I liked. I can't seem to find that either! Grrr!

Back to the drawing board. I decided that I would continue down the DIY road and make my own curtain with curtains I already have. Thanks to Ikea, I have a stock of solid white curtains. As of right now, TODAY....my plan is to trim the curtains with ribbon and add blackout fabric to the back of the panels.

Now the choices....do I line the curtains with only one solid block of navy ribbon:

Or two little ribbons:

OR....OR....do I go crazy banana pants and order a special ribbon to trim the edges. Like this:

I need help deciding...but I'm leaning towards something more basic and simple...like the first two. Thoughts?!?
