i am Always thinking about Sapphire and Navigator's first conversation.

i already talked about how the "I missed talking to you." bit hurts, but then the conversation turns to this and. augh. especially now with the information about why Sapphire got trapped in the time loop in the first place. it's not just that Sapphire can't leave, it's that they're not allowed to leave. they can't come home.

i miss these two so much :(

hi Sapphire, been a while! and... Navigator? what the bell are you doing here. we've had Viking be cryptic before, but i think this is the first... well, not confirmed, but likely sighting of him in discord.

so: we've got a very brief bonding moment over how much Olm sucks, then Nav tries to be smug and gets pushback from Sapphire. (as a side note: we?)

there's also a return to the idea of Nav being trapped as well. Sapph has brought this up a few times in response to Nav trying to flaunt his freedom, and Nav doesn't take her seriously about it. i think she does have a point, though-- as much as Nav says he can leave any time he wants, he always comes back. it may not be a literal trap like what Sapphire is in, but something is keeping him here. he cant abandon his sister.

and then, of course, further friction now that Sapphire knows Navigator is the who imprisoned them and keeps holding it over her head.

How old do you think Navigator is in the grand scheme of things? Obviously he’s older than Saph, but by how much? How does he compare to the other entities out there? The existence of Others is briefly mentioned but they’re never seen or heard from. I guess what I’m trying to ask here isn’t necessarily how old he is, but how young?

He has all of these responsibilities resting on his shoulders. Did he put them there himself? Or did someone else force them on him? How long until he breaks too?

time and space are the foundational blocks of everything. they were there at the start, and will probably be there at the end.

that's a lot for one person to handle. or, well, one of many-- there's an infinite number of Vikings, but only one that we know is playing the full role. it's hard to tell what Nav is and isn't being honest about at this point, but i keep coming back to him saying "if i could throw it away, i would". he doesn't want this.

someone has to do it, though. someone has to keep things on track, to move things into the right place, to navigate through the unknown. there's no escape from what you were born to do. not when you're a god.

(there probably is. there's always a way out, always a way to share the burden, always a way to find the time to be yourself and not your role. time isn't what he has, though.)

settled on a design for Navigator! the idea of him writing on his arms is blatantly copied from @ace1diots :D i still think he's the type of guy to wear a scarf.

the writing on his arms is a mix of galactic and digicode, because galactic seems to be lore-relevant now and i like writing stuff in digicode when i have the opportunity to. translation in alt text!

good news guys im drawing again

newest crack theory/headcanon/whatever: the Viking from the planned 100 Days video that woulda introduced V.P. is Navigator! although he doesn't get his iconic green eyes and... his omniscience, i guess? until he goes through the portal. but he already starts off with memories from other realities, so!
