Earth From Another Sun Daily Development Update: March 9th, 2021
Greetings! Anthony and Freeman here. We are here to deliver the freshest update on "what the Earth From Another Sun team worked on", for March 9th, 2021.
We are publishing these updates because we aim to be the most transparent dev team ever, and we are willing to share as much as possible so you can get an accurate picture of the development progress of Earth From Another Sun.

Alright, here's today's dev update:
(We won't be doing a daily video from now on, too much work - the time is better spent on building the game, we apologize orz)
Fixed a few issues in rendering and DOTS AI.
Had a all-hands OKR retrospective meeting! We made great progress on the sandbox universe and 1000-unit battlefields during the first two months of 2021.
We also had a retrospective meeting on the OKR retrospective meeting! It was to discuss how that meeting, as well as our OKR process can go smoother in the future.
Reworked our OKR process.
Fixed an issue in open world sandbox camera angle.
The fleet inventory system is now fully integrated with the open world sandbox. YAY!
Working on integrating trading with the open world sandbox. (60%)
Had a discussion on improving open world sandbox performance, focused on finding a good method to store relational data in a data-oriented way.
Completed a generic, Burst-powered RPC system. Burst is Unity jargon for mutli-threaded processing.
Completed the open-world NPC behavior design document.
Updated the open-world NPC attribute design document, adding more sci-fi feel to it.
Made improvements to the lottery ticket design. They now cost more but give much better rewards.
Working on design of specific ships players can acquire for their fleets. (40%)
Still working on space object size, rotation and movement.
Made some improvements to space debris.
Added a loading screen to the open world sandbox.
Made improvements to server connection/disconnection.
Working on animations of the Infantry combat unit. (20%)
Working on reimplementing Modchips using DOTS. Specifically, using NativeStream to implement an event system. (40%)
Improved planet self rotation.
Added ships being able to orbit planets.
Completed town NPC nav markers.
Added lootable item icons to project.
Working on open world sandbox main UI. (5%)
Fixed the crowd animation build issue. Now working on even better performance.
Brainstormed improving the performance of NetCode-powered networking.
Working on transitioning into a DOTS-powered damage system. (35%)

Earth From Another Sun has a grand vision, and that is to one day become the most addictive open-world game ever made, a world with an incredible amount of content for you to explore. As many players have said, the current version is already fun, but we know there's still a long way to go.
But we believe, if we work hard, day in, day out, and keep at it endlessly, then the impossible will become the possible, and the possible will become the realized.
Let's keep going.
