Christopher and I as well as Mom and Marty hiked the Emerald Pools in Zion. The trek I believe was 2 miles one way to the top. Mom and Marty couldn't keep up so Christopher and I marched on, so to say. The first pond (pretty small) had a stream running through it and people playing in the water. The second one was not much bigger than a hot tub. The 3rd one was bigger but the only cool thing about it was all the frog eggs around the edge in the water. If you have ever hiked to Hanging Lake in Colorado these Emerald Pools do not even compare. The hike was more treacherous however. So there's this trail in Zion called The Narrows. It starts off pretty tame, a mile long cemented route. Then it ends but not really. It continues, IN THE RIVER! Christopher and I didn't want to get our good shoes wet so we decided to go BAREFOOT!. One of the most painful decisive I've ever made! I had to do it though because he dared me to. What hurt the worst was the tiny pebble like rocks that were totally DIGGING into my feet with every movement. Then the scary part was the bigger rocks that were very slippery. Try maneuvering those with a strong current! I didn't have my cell phone at that point but I did have my Nikon camera. I will download those pictures in a few days. Here's the story: Parking in Zion is nearly impossible. You are lucky to get a spot by the visitor center. If not, you have to park outside Zion, near town and take a shuttle back to the park. This can add over an hour to your trip before you even get to begin exploring. We just missed 2 spots in the visitor center lot. I said, "Next spot I see, I'm getting out of the car to save it." There was a spot, I got out of the car. I saw another women (I thought) doing the same. No problem, I'll jump the short fence/hurdle like I use to in track and field (MANY years ago). EPIC FAIL! Hence, the bloodied and scraped knee, 2 arms, and wrist. Love this shot of the tree near the Amphitheater in Bryce Canyon. This was the only spot I left behind something. It was a pumpkin seed that I accidently dropped from my trail mix that Mom made for us. Now the M & M that I dropped, No way!
