Newsom heads to New York to raise money for Harris — then to Pennsylvania, where she'll debate Trump - Information Today Internet - BLOGGER https://www.merchant-business.com/newsom-heads-to-new-york-to-raise-money-for-harris-then-to-pennsylvania-where-shell-debate-trump/?feed_id=193735&_unique_id=66de9bc72d2fc Gov. Gavin Newsom is heading east to headline a splashy big-dollar fundraiser for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in New York before the vice president’s first debate with former President Trump on Tuesday in Philadelphia, which he’ll likely attend. The governor will promote Harris and vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, from Sunday through Wednesday, according to a member of Newsom’s political team, making media appearances and attending fundraisers in New York and stumping for the Democratic ticket in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.Newsom is jumping back into campaigning for the Democratic nominee after largely lying low in the weeks since Harris replaced President Biden at the top of the ticket. Newsom was a prominent surrogate for Biden, stumping for him around the country and defending him after his poor debate performance in June that ultimately led the incumbent to bow out of his reelection campaign. But his role in Harris’ campaign had been unclear. Harris campaign officials said Saturday that Newsom is a leader of Harris’ national campaign committee, the same role he held with Biden’s campaign.Harris and Newsom have a long history, having run in the same political circles in San Francisco before being sworn in together on the same day in 2004, Newsom as mayor and Harris as district attorney. The vice president reminisced about their friendship at her first Bay Area fundraiser after becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee in August.“I have known Gavin as a friend and colleague for so, so many years,” she said. “I want to thank you in front of all of our friends who are here for being an extraordinary leader of California and the nation.”Still, a vein of competition has marked their relationship for many years, as both were viewed as rising stars in the Democratic Party. It was particularly notable during the Democratic National Convention last month: Newsom attended, but without a prominent official role. The governor, who normally seeks the spotlight, had only a brief moment on camera during the official programming when he announced California delegates’ votes for Harris. He said he turned down an opportunity to speak on the opening night of the convention because he was attending a school orientation for his children and couldn’t get to Chicago in time.Newsom told The Times in an interview during the convention that he was awaiting an assignment from the Harris campaign and was mindful of how the rest of the nation views San Francisco and California.“I’m deeply situationally aware of that, and that’s why I’m not asserting anything,” he said. “I’m happy. I don’t need anything or want anything. I just want to be helpful and not hurtful.”One way Newsom is helping is by raising money. An invitation to Sunday’s fundraiser in New York City asks donors to contribute up to $100,000 to attend the event headlined by Newsom, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York. Hosts include producer Shonda Rhimes and actors Tony Goldwyn, Robert De Niro, Leslie Lloyd Odom Jr. and Amber Tamblyn. The fundraiser is taking place as campaign disclosures show Harris with a gaping financial lead over Trump. The Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Friday that she and Walz and their allied committees had raised $361 million in August, the most in the current electoral cycle, and had $404 million in cash on hand.Trump, running mate JD Vance and their allied committees raised $130 million in August and had $295 million in the bank, according to Republicans. The former GOP president is scheduled to return to California
this week for a pair of high-dollar fundraisers, one notably hosted by relatives of Newsom’s wife, according to invitations obtained by The Times. After New York, Newsom is scheduled to visit Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, Harris is debating Trump at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. His aides referred questions about his attendance at the debate to the Harris campaign, which did not respond to The Times’ question.A source familiar with the plans, though not authorized to speak about them publicly, said that Newsom is widely “expected” to attend the faceoff as a surrogate who’s vocally promoting Harris in her historic run against Trump.“The California governor and Kamala Harris both launched their political careers in San Francisco two decades ago. Now, he’s fundraising and promoting her run for the White House…”Source Link: https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2024-09-08/newsom-new-york-pennsylvania-fundraiser-debate-trump http://109.70.148.72/~merchant29/6network/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/pexels-photo-19455922.jpeg #GLOBAL - BLOGGER Gov. Newsom heads to New York to raise money for Harris — then to Pennsylvania, where she'll debate Trump - Information Global Internet - BLOGGER https://www.merchant-business.com/newsom-heads-to-new-york-to-raise-money-for-harris-then-to-pennsylvania-where-shell-debate-trump/?feed_id=193706&_unique_id=66de9970c8234 Gov.
Now, he’s fundraising and promoting her run for the White House…”Source Link: https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2024-09-08/newsom-new-york-pennsylvania-fundraiser-debate-trump http://109.70.148.72/~merchant29/6network/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/pexels-photo-19455922.jpeg Newsom heads to New York to raise money for Harris — then to Pennsylvania, where she'll debate Trump - Information Global Internet - #GLOBAL BLOGGER - #GLOBAL

Safe blood saves lives
Tumblr media
Under The Slogan "Safe blood saves lives" the World Blood Donor Day 2020 was observed.
Who can give blood? Most people can give blood if they are in good health. There are some basic requirements one  need to fulfill in order to become a blood donor.  Below are some basic eligibility guidelines:
Age; You are aged between 18 and 65.In some countries national legislation permits 16–17 year-olds to donate provided that they fulfil the physical and hematological criteria required and that appropriate consent is obtained. In some countries, regular donors over the age of 65 may be accepted at the discretion of the responsible physician. The upper age limit in some countries are 60. Weight; You weigh at least 50 kg.In some countries, donors of whole blood donations should weigh at least 45 kg to donate 350 ml ± 10%. Health; You must be in good health at the time you donate. You cannot donate if you have a cold, flu, sore throat, cold sore, stomach bug or any other infection. If you have recently had a tattoo or body piercing you cannot donate for 6 months from the date of the procedure.  If the body piercing was performed by a registered health professional and any inflammation has settled completely, you can donate blood after 12 hours. If you have visited the dentist for a minor procedure you must wait 24 hours before donating; for major work wait a month. You must not donate blood If you do not meet the minimum haemoglobin level for blood donation: A test will be administered at the donation site. In many countries, a haemoglobin level of not less than 12.0 g/dl for females and not less than 13.0 g/dl for males as the threshold.
Travel; Travel to areas where mosquito-borne infections are endemic, e.g. malaria, dengue and Zika virus infections, may result in a temporary deferral. Many countries also implemented the policy to defer blood donors with a history of travel or residence for defined cumulative exposure periods in specified countries or areas, as a measure to reduce the risk of transmitting variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD) by blood transfusion.
Behaviours; You must not give blood:If you engaged in “at risk” sexual activity in the past 12 months Individuals with behaviours below will be deferred permanently: Have ever had a positive test for HIV (AIDS virus) Have ever injected recreational drugs. In the national blood donor selection guidelines, there are more behavior eligibility criteria. Criteria could be different in different countries.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding; Following pregnancy, the deferral period should last as many months as the duration of the pregnancy. It is not advisable to donate blood while breast-feeding. Following childbirth, the deferral period is at least 9 months (as for pregnancy) and until 3 months after your baby is significantly weaned (i.e. getting most of his/her nutrition from solids or bottle feeding).
More information on eligibility to donate; National  eligibility guidelines must be followed when people donate blood in the blood service in specific countries.  To find out whether any health conditions, medications, professions or travel history to could affect your ability to give blood, please search for detailed information in the national/local blood services.
The World Blood Donor Day 2020 was celebrated around the world on 14 June.
Tumblr media
The event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gift of blood and also to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood and blood products, as an integral part of universal health coverage and a key component of effective health systems.

Buyer Beware: Convicted Sex Offender Crowdfunding Indie Horror Movie
Tumblr media
Last year, I briefly appeared in a horror-comedy short titled Slaybor Day 7, which recently made its way online. It was written and directed by Justin Menoche, who I met when one of my shorts screened at Cocktails & Screens, a Providence, RI-based short film showcase co-founded by Menoche.
The enthusiastic viewer response to the short led Menoche to launch an Indiegogo in an effort to fund a feature-length version of Slaybor Day. The campaign has raised over $5,000 of its $8,000 goal with 17 days remaining.
It's a well-constructed campaign with no shortage of enticing rewards, but the one thing you won't find on the page is the name Justin Menoche. The campaign, along with writing and directing duties, are instead credited to Justin Wayne.
A perfunctory Google search of his real name quickly revealed the reason for the misleading pseudonym: Justin Menoche is a convicted sex offender.
As reported by Providence NBC affiliate WJAR, in 2011, the 23-year-old Menoche posed as a 16-year-old boy on Facebook to solicit underage girls. He worked as a substitute teacher in the Coventry and Burrillville school districts at the time. Investigators discovered child pornography on his computer.
According to Providence radio station 990WBOB, Menoche pled guilty to possession of child pornography in 2013, for which he was sentenced to five years with one to serve on home confinement and the remainder suspended with probation.
However, in 2014, Menoche violated the terms of his probation and was arraigned on new charges that exhibit a recidivist behavior. He pled guilty  and received a sentence of three years to serve for indecent solicitation of a minor and five years suspended with probation for possession of child pornography, to run consecutive.
His probation expired on October 16, 2018, yet he will remain registered as a lifetime Level III sex offender.
Menoche did not respond to a request for comment prior to the publishing of this article.
I am not here to further condemn Menoche for his actions or ruin his career. I sincerely hope he is rehabilitated, but I believe that the Slaybor Day cast and crew as well as prospective donors should be privy to the filmmaker's predatory history before deciding to support him. I certainly would not have associated myself with him had I been aware.
If you've already contributed to the campaign and have changed your mind, you can get a refund via Indiegogo. There are plenty of other indie filmmakers that could use a hand, or you may want to consider making a donation to RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization.
