Reading back on the civil war arc, only just realised the reason why Wade is dead in the Merc Spidey universe is because Spider-man is the only reason Wade wanted to live and he's the only reason Wade joined the weapon-X Program. And because Peter never actually became Spider-man in that universe is because Uncle Ben never died.

well i mean, peter did become spider-man. just hot sexy morally corrupt spider-man who's in it for the money.

he never gets pushed down the hero's path. never learns about great responsibility, and stuff.
