who: @nataliavega when: new years eve, beginning of the party where: their room at the hamptons house
Mari slipped back into the bedroom she had been staying in, having changed into her gold mini dress in their en suite bathroom, her hair down and loose, her make-up already done. For all intents and purposes, she was ready to go down to the party, but she was...dragging her feet. Of course. With the text she had gotten while putting the finishing touches on her makeup, what else was she supposed to do? When it came down to it, giving in to the whims of the anonymous stalker was low on the list - even though she had been avoiding her roommate for this trip for the past few days, barely having spoken to Nat since their...night out a few weeks ago, even with the shared quarters, a sense of relief settled over her when she realized she was still in their room. "Hey," Mari said, stepping over to where she had left her shoes, sitting on her bed to buckle them on. "You almost ready to head down there?"

who: @nataliavega when: sometime during the day of the afterparty/storm where: some corner of chalet c where nate can be grumpy all by his lonesome
This was a lot of people for Nate - in particular, a lot of people he didn’t particularly like. At some point, suit pants rumpled, jacket discarded and vest now tossed to join it, he had found a quiet corner, pulling out the emergency joint he had to smoke a bit of it. Few hits would take the edge off - and if it wasn’t hits off the joint it would be hits to someone’s face. Smoke exhaling out of his lips, he heard footsteps approaching, turning his head to see Nat. Without any greeting, another inhale already dragged from the joint, he held it out to her, pinched between his fingers as he offered her a hit.

"You say that like you think I'm in a rush to get down there," Mari said lightly, her eyebrows raising up. Was she ever in a rush to get to a party? Not really - it was called being fashionably late for a reason - but even less so ever since...everything had started. She wasn't sure she'd ever be able to relax again at an event, constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop thanks to the anonymous g.
She took a step closer towards the mirror Nat had been working on her make up in, eyes flickering back and forth between the eye makeup - studiously avoiding actually meeting her eyes as she did so. Mari tipped her head to one side, considering for a moment longer, before she let out a low hum. "I'm pretty sure that eyeliner is the same as eyebrows. Sisters, not twins," she offered. "Bit of remover and a q-tip and I'm sure you can get them damn close, though."
It was tricky, this situation with Mari. It probably shouldn't have been, and maybe this was just another classic case of Nat being in her own head, but the fact that they hadn't really talked or even seen each other since their night out made it seem bigger somehow. And then the roommate situation had felt a lot like ships passing in the night and it felt as though the time to talk about it, if it even needed to be talked about, had come and gone.
So Nat was doing her best to ignore the fact that they were now in one place and awake by spending more time than she might usually perfecting her makeup. Which is why she jumped at the sound of Mari's voice, the wing on her left eye suddenly much longer than the other. She gave a self-conscious laugh as she set the liner down. "I might die before I get these wings to match, actually. At what point do you just give up and hope no one looks at your face?" She turned away from the mirror to look at Mari. "You don't have to wait if you don't want to."
