another hotel, another city. another room, another unfamiliar setting. but this time you weren't alone. you lean against the smooth leather headboard, sheets draped lightly around your body. you were watching the scenery outside the window when the doorbell rings, and before you could even think about moving, an 'i'll get it!' echoes from the bathroom.

"i'll take this" you hear from the door, and soon you see daniel pushing in the squeaky-wheeled cart filled with food. he was wrapped in a bathrobe, hair still standing from last night's restful sleep.

"breakfast, m'lady."

you smile softly, crawling to the edge of the bed. daniel sits across from you, handing you your cup of coffee. you both eat in comfortable silence, exchanging a portion of your pancakes for some of his french toast.

"when's the next show?" daniel asks with a mouthful of fruit.

you sip on your coffee before answering, "i've got two weeks off before the european leg."

"two weeks eh?"

"yeah," you feed him a banana from your plate, "i'm spending a week in nashville with blake to finish up a couple of tunes. i'm free on the second week."

"how about cota?" he asks almost too casually.

you hum, slicing the pancakes into smaller pieces. circuit of the americas. the texas weekend. one of daniel's favourite races of the year.

"c'mon love, you know you love a good trip to texas. think about the barbecue! the people, the music." he nudges you from across the table.

daniel is glad that it wasn't an immediate no, and it hasn't been since the sponsorship event. you've accompanied him to a handful of other events at this point, and he's showed up at your shows a couple of times too.

even the fans were getting hints. the mclaren admin had been posting pictures of these said events, with you standing close to daniel; and you had sometimes given them the soft launch on instagram - the subtle hand in your posts, or the occasional picture of brunch for two.

you were starting to give him commitment, starting to open your heart up to the australian; and although it was terrifying, you were absolutely enjoying the free fall.

"let me think about it?" you asked daniel, even though you didn't have to think twice to know the answer.

he grins at you, "that's better than a no."

the both of you spent your last day roaming the streets of south italy - gelato cone in hand as you walked down the cobbled path. when evening rolls around, you both walk to a quiet restaurant near the hotel and ordered dinner. you look up from your menu, watching daniel quietly as he analyses the description of each dish; his brows furrowed together as he pretends to understand the ingredients listed in italian. you clear your throat to get his attention.

"so, about texas..." you say with your hands cupping your chin as you lean forward on your elbows. daniel looks up at you with his eyes glistening.

"it's a yes from me."

"YES!" he shouts a little too loudly, apologising to the patrons near him as he closes the menu dramatically. he leans over the table and kisses your forehead softly, "thank you."

"you ready?" daniel closes the door to the rented mclaren, intertwining his fingers with yours. you nod, and the both of you make your way into the paddock. it felt almost like a red carpet event - lights flashing, photographers calling out your name. they were having an absolute field day with your presence.

"y/n! y/n! over here!"

"are you and daniel together?"

"daniel! is this your girlfriend?"

you make your way through, smiling shyly for the cameras as daniel leads the both of you through the small crowd. he's eventually stopped by some fans, and releases the grip that he had on your hand. you take a couple steps forward, allowing his beloved fans to have some one on one time with him.

but its not long before a young girl came up to you, holding an orange number '3' cap and a black sharpie; the front of it already signed by daniel.

"i'm a really big fan, could i get an autograph?" you look at the wide-eyed girl and smiled at her, gladly taking the marker and signing onto it. she runs off giddily, shouting to her parents about the signatures she just got.

the hand on the small of your back brings you back to reality, daniel standing right next to you to guide you to the hospitality building. it's behind the glass doors where you find a different kind of buzz - various team members getting their breakfast and having meetings. you wave to a couple of people you recognised from past events, before you heard someone call out to daniel. his hand rests on your back again, pointing to the table in the far corner where lando and zak were sitting.

"tell me you've snagged the girl, DR?" zak asks. daniel looks at you then back at zak and smiles, "i'm almost there i think."

you follow daniel back outside to the paddock, where a few of the drivers and their girlfriends had formed a small circle. they were talking and catching up with one another while you stood back, not being too familiar with everyone. but someone, you recognised as george russell's girlfriend, came up to you.

"y/n, right?" she asks and you nod.

"i'm carmen, george's girlfriend. daniel spoke about you before at dinner." you shook her outstretched hand.

she nudged you after, "big fan of your music by the way."

you blushed, "thank you, it's really nice to meet all of you."

"it's really nice to finally meet you! if ever daniel annoys you, just come by mercedes, you're always welcome." she jokes, and daniel sends her a playful glare which makes you laugh.

and for a moment, everything seemed to be going okay, amazing, in fact. until you made your way to the garage and started watching the race.

fuck. shit. god dammit.

those three words echoed throughout the garage.

you watched daniel's car spin out on screen, after being clipped in the back by another competitor. your arm was wrapped around your own body, picking at the fabric of your shirt. michael, daniel's physio, turns to you to try to give you a reassuring look; but nothing was going to calm you until you see him, hear him.

"daniel, do you copy? is the car okay?"

if you could shoot daggers with your eyes, daniel's race engineer would've been stabbed by now. you watched on the screen as the cameras covered movement in the car, and daniel's voice echoed through the radios seconds later.

"i'm okay, car's fine."

you take a breath, gripping on to whatever you could to steady yourself. its more than a hot minute before daniel's car rolls into the garage, semi wrecked, and you're speechless as your eyes fixate on the australian. you watch as he climbs out of the car, going over to his race engineer, then michael; minutes feel like hours as you watched him talk, your eyes never leaving him. he scans the garage after his conversation, and he spots you.

no words shared, everything floating in both your minds as you lunged towards each other. he relaxes in your arms and so do you, nuzzling your head into the crook of his neck.

"fuck, i love you danny. i'm so glad you're okay."

he chuckles, and you can feel it vibrate through his body.

"i fucking love you too, y/n."

OK here is my voice to text two cents. Don’t think it’s gonna be as bad as we think. I think there’s some of you who just don’t like Timothy because he’s famous. And that’s OK. I don’t think he’s great. I think he’s OK. Hated him as Laurie in little women. But that’s besides the point. he is doing his best. I do think that they’re gonna make Joan a manic pixie dream girl who’s only in the movie for 30 minutes. Are we truly expecting it to be any other way? It’s Hollywood. I think this is all depending on the quality of the writing in the writing of the story. I don’t know anything about this director. But as long is it a genuinely good story about a person I’m ok. like that’s my main issue with like the doors movie for instance. Not only is it a false retelling it’s also a bad movie. And that’s the worst combo. That’s the worst crime. Anyways, don’t take it out on Timothy. He’s the pawn. He’s just a guy. and anyways, like no movies ever gonna capture the depth of Bob Dylan. I wish they would’ve picked well. I wish it could’ve either been like a from birth to now story even though they’d be missing a lot of things, but I do wish it were more about going electric but then what happened after not really the buildup because that’s just kind of boring. I don’t know I feel like the Woodstock. And like the Nashville period Is really more interesting than him putting on the electric guitar for the first time. Even though like you know culturally, this is a substantial thing. That people don’t know about people don’t appreciate. And maybe they’re using Timothy as kind of a gateway for the uncultured youth of today that’s supposed to be an air quotes to access. Or at least access the importance of putting poetry to rock ‘n’ roll music. Anyways, I’m losing my train of thought. I need to direct the movie about Bob and Sara and their kids in Woodstock on the trampoline. I’ll do it. I don’t even like movies. But I’ll do it. Someone hire me. Marty!!!! and I also want to say like. We can not like Timothy. And that’s OK. And a little bit of gatekeeping is OK too but just have your hearts open. Even if it’s just a crack open. I ran it the girl who ran it and like got all the crazy number followers posted something like I need someone to admin and and it was me so I don’t wanna take all the credit but I used to do that. I thought he was cute. Sue me. I like again like I don’t mind him. I don’t think he’s awesome now but he’s just like whatever. And it’s just like funny for me because it was like right after I started doing that account that I started like really really listening to Bob Dylan. So it’s kind of just like a funny coincidence for me personally. OK I don’t really know where else I’m going with this OK bye

There are some very crazy things happening on my local Facebook page with a woman who was at the parade this summer and is now a gun violence prevention activist. You may have seen her-- she is the person who was in Nashville the day of the school shooting there and interrupted a news broadcast to start speaking.

Anyway she is very outspoken against the highly organized group March Fourth, which sprung up in direct response to the highland park parade shooting but also works very closely with the families of Uvalde victims and survivors. And she in turn is being harassed by a local militia group who keep publishing her address online and rogue members of this group keep joining our FB group and posting things about her (today it was some court documents that definitely looked faked but an admin already removed them.)

It is very wild and upsetting! I do not want to encounter any of this! Also my actual friend does the media for March Fourth and YES victims are allowed to have complicated feelings about activist groups that sprung up after your traumatic event but March Fourth is not bad! And I am thankful for the non-traumatized people who sprung into action for those of us who could not!

ANYWAY it's a lot and I wish they would get control of this narrative in a fb group that is mostly about people who clean gutters and what store has a sale on Prime energy drink.

lol so my sister (who didnt get verified fan and never got to buy tickets for tour and wants to go where she lives, in nashville, instead of traveling across the country to go with me at metlife if she can help it since that would be even more money) found a resale facebook group where the admins seemed to be doing thorough checks of the sellers validity and posts from folks in the group seemed to confirm that people were getting tickets they were paying for. So we got connected to a guy they had vetted and after sending him $1400 (of my money, my sister can’t afford) for 4 tickets he just like went dark…but not all the way dark like he hasn’t blocked us he just has left me on read for a whole week. And then we got in touch with the admins that had confirmed they vetted him and they have also left us on read for a couple days. But none of these people are blocking us so like….what is happening? If I’m being scammed id love to just know so I can move on but the limbo of seeing they read the message and just not responding but not blocking us so it MIGHT still work out is excruciating.

Anyway stay safe out there swiftlets! Even the most legit groups/processes may leave you stranded

TW: gun mention, hun violence mention, Jacksonville shooting mention, bullying.

Some information: I am a high school student. This was said during my 6th period class. Two of the students mentioned have previously bullied me and made me feel unsafe, while the other had begun doing so recently.

All of them involved in sports, and the one who had begun to bully me is the child of one of the coaches (who is one of the nicest people ever).

The week before my spring break, I overheard a few kids at a set of tables next to me laughing, and one of them saying “I’m gonna shoot up the school, I’ll give y’all the date.”

They saw me looking over and laughed at me, saying I was gonna “snitch”.

I immediately went to the teacher and they sent me back to my seat, and from what I can tell they only told the kids off. They didn’t contact the admin, or tell another teacher.

This was approx. three days after the Nashville Shooting, which left three children and three adults dead.

I went home and told my mother on the car ride what had happened, and when we told my father he immediately filed a police report (after trying and failing multiple times to contact someone in admin).

The police officer was super understanding about my nervousness, and was incredibly nice.

He mentioned a week earlier the police went to the school, and I knew what he meant (a student threatened another with a gun- no weapon was ever found and was considered not a threat).

A few days later a parent of one of the kids mentioned how “the parents failed to say their child has mental health problems”, implying I had some form of disorder that makes me hear voices or see things.

My father contacted the detective stating the only mental health issue I have is ADHD, and I am medicated for it.

The detective’s reaction? “Hell, I have ADHD too. I was thinking they had schizophrenia or something.”

We suspect the reason why the parent knew is because the school had given them the information (which according to a teacher friend and a former guidance counselor we know, that is a HUGE no-no). Im the end, we were able to sort things out.

This isn’t just me sharing my experience- it’s me urging others to speak up when they hear something or are sent something. It’s better to rat out a friend than risk letting others be killed.

My heart goes out to the survivors and victims of the Nashville Shooting, and to those who may feel survivors guilt, and those who knew but were afraid to speak.

When that post says "their ideology," he means "trans ideology," which is a popular fascist buzzphrase right now. The rest of it flows from there; creating a conspiracy of trans people who need "access to children." Then he ascribes an ideology to the Nashville shooter - a person whose motives are still unknown to the general public - and then extrapolates that imaginary ideology to all trans people. So what he's really saying is that most or all trans people are violent pedophiles. And what should be done with violent pedophiles? He leaves it to the reader to imagine, because being forthright would get him banned. It's pretty basic fascist dogwhistling. And it's enabled by complacent Reddit moderators and admins who refuse to do anything about extremely obvious fascism.

- cassie was born and raised in nashville, tennesse, as the second oldest of the murray siblings and the eldest daughter. her parents were both lawyers, and wanting to make them proud, she said she wanted to be a lawyer too, in the way that kids do. 

- academically and socially, she initially appeared bright, but the older she got, the more difficult things became. she couldn’t put her finger on why, she just assumed it was difficult for everyone and they were just dealing with it in a better way. she worked hard, and she did well… just never quite as well as she or her parents wanted to. 

- her relationship with her parents was one of a child who wanted to make them happy, but she felt like she was always just out of reach of their expectations. they provided her with a very privileged and beautiful life, but she just wanted them to be proud of her, without expectation. 

- this all changed when her dad got sick. her older brother by 11 years, mason, was away at college, and cassie was only 10 years old. her mom, refusing to face the reality of her dad being sick, threw herself into work and became distant from her partner and children. in direct parallel, she became a lot closer to her dad - after school, she would spend time with him, despite his protests for her to spend time with her friends. she would sit with him and do her homework, or watch tv, or listen to his vinyls together. they bonded over classic movies and his ‘old’ music, and cassie joked about becoming a rockstar. as a continuation of their little joke, cassie received an electric guitar for her birthday, and she loved it. she committed to her lessons in a way she hadn’t done with anything else, and her dad was happy to listen to her play. - after his death, cassie would continue to practice in the room where he’d spent the last few months of his life, even after her mom had it cleared out of his things. her relationship with her mom became even more distant and stressful for cassie. her mom would keep her at arm's length and spend so much time at work, then randomly fuss over her, about her grades, her interests, how she spent her time. even when cassie tried and studied as hard as she could, it never felt like it was enough. 

- through middle school and high school, even though they had nannies, a cook and a gardener, cassie did what she could to help around the house and go to as many events for her siblings in place of their mom. she learned about their hobbies and interests to make their gifts and celebrations personal, helped them with their homework, and generally did as much as her time would allow to try to fill that gap. 

- cassie never did as well as her older brother, mason, but she did go to college. she studied business, which she hated, and she spent a lot of time with the college bands, with her band, and with the technicians who helped out with the theatre shows and the gigs. eventually, she asked to shadow them and learn the skills. She knew her mom would hate this, so she never told her, or her siblings or family, in fear it would get back to her and she would never hear the end of it. 

- in college, she met ‘the love of her life’, at nashville’s battle of the bands that year. they connected over the same music, their love of live gigs and their involvement in the music gig industry. cassie loved him wildly and deeply, and in the beginning, their relationship was a passionate love affair, so unlike the relationship she’d seen between her parents. she thought she’d found the one, found the thing that was so different and would bring her nothing but happiness. 

- towards the end of college, she finally admitted what she’d been terrified to say. she wasn’t going to law school, she wasn’t following her brother’s or parent’s footsteps. her mom was appalled and shocked and her reaction caused cassie to finally snap and fight back. they had a huge, fiery argument, and cassie fighting back was something so rare, that her mom took notice and let go of her going to law school. occasionally, she would bring it up again, but cassie would brush it off

- over years, cassie would never settle on a career, much to her mother’s disappointment. cassie mostly worked in retail, as a barista, and in low-level admin jobs, but she always dabbled in bands and as a light and sound technician for theatre shows and gigs, as a volunteer or measly pay. she didn’t care, because it made her happy. after college, she moved in with her boyfriend and they were a happy couple. their friends and family’s believed they would get married eventually, but after seven years, there was still no ring. cassie could always brush it off… until she didn’t. 

- out of nowhere, cassie broke up with her boyfriend, the love of her life, and removed herself from their lease. everyone in her life was shocked, and many tried to talk her out of it, but she wouldn’t even talk about why she’d pulled the plug. Instead, she either sold or packed up her belongings in a small uhaul, and moved across the country to join her brothers in kismet harbor, oregon.
