#naruto is the weirdest fandom i've seen

The way so many blogs on Tumblr exist to solely hate on characters is amusing. Someone likes one of my posts and I go to check their profile and all I see is hate for some characters on their blog. Hate for Itachi, Sasuke, Sarada, Sakura. That's the only content they're liking, reblogging, and writing about.

People are allowed to hate/dislike anyone but why the heck do people waste time on hating the characters so much that that's all there is on their profiles. They don't have a single positive post about any other character. Makes me wonder if their only takeaway from the series was that they hate this character instead of loving the others?

liking a character and liking the personal idea of them don't necessarily need to be connected. a lot of people like a design and then twitch the character from canon best example being naruto women. a lot of people like someone's design and some aspects but then create an alternative reality of said character in their heads.

that's what I meant for you and the unpopular characters you draw, since it's not common to hyperfixate in them like you do. it's also a common practice to pair them up with popular characters and shit on other more popular pairings with them along the way.

I don't mean it's you. I was simply curious about your opinion about it since you're like... how to say it? a black sheep?

say for example gojohime. utahime is very unpopular and looked down by the satosugu or fandom, yet you draw them. you also opt for utahime rather than nobara, shoko or maki which is impressive.

you draw less sakuino/inosaku compared to inohina or even sakuhina despite the best friends sakura and ino being incredibly popular but looked down by the small ino fandom compared to the sakura fandom or general fandom. sakura with kisame for example another example.

your art and asks sometimes pop up in my feed from my moots liking your posts and you get inosaku/sakuino hate or at least I've seen. a lot of preferences stem from personal headcanons rather than canon or common sense in people's heads so you get the weirdest asks.

you also draw plenty of kakashi or kakarin, obirin. sakura with other popular characters such as sasori or kakashi too. so it's balanced sakura-kakashi in popularity.

so yeah, it was simple curiosity.

Wow, that's a big analysis of my shipping choices, except for inosaku - you failed on that, they're canon for me.

What you mentioned about 'liking a character' are just two extremes of the same thing, in my opinion.

The only algorithm that my braincell uses when it comes to shipping is answering the question: 'do I like the two (or more) characters?'. If yes, then I will ship it. This is why stsg never appealed to me - I'm simply not a Geto fan.

Utahime is a very 'real' character: she fails, she likes to hit on booze with friends, she can't hide her emotions and is just a fun, simple teenage girl in her 30s. With Shoko it's harder, because I would end up exploring her alcohol addiction and I don't need more of it as I have plenty of this shit irl.

I don't care whatever the so-called collective fandom thinks or finds popular. I try not to interact with fandom at all when I'm enjoying new show, as it often ruins the whole experience. Shipping is not about 'common sense', it's about having fun and since we are all different, we will all have different preferences.

What is the "worst/weirdest" thing you've ever seen in a Naruto fanfic? (A crack pairing, a weird/bad scene, a character acting very OOC?) The worst I've seen is a Gaara/Kankuro where their relationship was sexual and my reaction was like this -> 😱😑😡 It was on the basis that Gaara was "lonely" and only Kankuro knew how to take care of him properly and it was baaaad. What's yours?

Oh gosh. I feel like we could be here for days--probably weeks, even--talking about all the terrible and weird things in any fandom. 

I am a creature of habit--at least when it comes to the treacherous beast that is fandom. I stick with what I know I like, so most of what I interact with fandom-wise is based on exactly what I know and love--when I venture into the HP fandom, I read exclusively Harry/Draco fics though I’ve tried to find Harry/Luna ones. When it comes to Naruto, I stick with GaaLee, though I did use to read a lot SasuNaru back when I gave a crap about that pairing. 

Obviously, I know horrible incest ships like KankuGaa exist. It’s a plight honestly. 

But knowing about those things and actually having to experience them...

For me, the things I have experienced..... I think there are just so many egregious depictions of Gaara, Lee, and their relationship... it’s hard to even name one. I think what is probably my least favourite thing that I continue to see is ppl shoving Gaara in a dress and making him extra feminine in a really fetishistic way and putting him and Lee in a sexual situation, usually wherein Gaara looks like he’s Not Happy. There’s a lot of layers to it. 

But like there’s just... in general, so much bad and weird shit out there it’s hard to like pinpoint. I still say that Fucking in the Middle of  SandStorm Because My ‘Crazy’ Boyfriend is Hot is pretty high up there for weird/bad things in fanfiction. lol
