Soo and Nari (Soori)
(Nari, left) (Soo, right)
art piece I commissioned from @dacquoisettes (thank you so much again!! they look so beautiful 💞💞)
Overview
Soo and Nari’s relationship can only be described in one word and one word only: messy.
Soo is so paranoid about everything and everyone, she barely trust the people in her own group let alone someone else in a whole different group. Soo is basically like a skittish scared cat who sinks her claws onto everybody who gets too closed, she’s very paranoid and would often jump to the worst conclusion about somebody even if they have done nothing to show that they’re unloyal or deserving of a wild assumption that she made up about them.
Nari, on the other hand, is known to be very pushy and provocative, she loves seeing people start to lose control because of her words or actions. She just keeps pushing and pushing until someone finally snaps and for the better part of her and Soo’s relationship that was an easy feat to do.
Nari found out very quickly that Soo was going to form her own judgements, her own opinion and assumptions about her character, regardless of whether they were based on reality or not. Once Soo decides that you’re a threat to her then it’s very hard to change her mind, so Nari sees no point in trying to convince Soo that she means no ill will or that she has bad intentions because ultimately Soo doesn’t want to hear it and therefore Nari decides “if she’s going to think the worst of me anyways why won’t I play into it?”
Fairy Tales
Yeah, their relationship is by far from picture perfect but although they have their own flaws individually and may bring out the worst of each other, Soo and Nari do make a pretty good team and are pretty compatible when they’re aren’t arguing or throwing digs at one another.
Nari’s fairy tale derives from Little Red Riding Hood whilst Soo fairy tale derives from The Little Mermaid. Little Red Riding Hood was tricked by the Big Bad Wolf into thinking he was her poor sick grandma and was later eaten by the wolf. The Little Mermaid sold her voice for legs to the Sea Witch, thinking the Sea Witch had her best interest at heart and later was betrayed by her.
Both of their fairy tales consist of two gullible and naive young woman who thought the best of people and inevitably got the short end of the stick because of it. And while Soo’s and Nari’s version of the story didn’t end in a gruesome death, it didn’t end in a happily ever after either.
For one, unlike in the popular told story of the Little Mermaid, Soo was actually banished and exiled from the Sea Kingdom due to her vast interest of humans and the human world (and also her alleged affair with the Sea Witch but that’s a whole other post in itself-), and was thrown into the human world having no idea what to expect or what she’s getting into and it ultimately caused her a buttload of trust issues and why she’s so jaded and paranoid at the world.
Similarly, Nari has her own experience of having someone robbing her of her innocence and her naivety being taken advantaged of. Although, the origin of her fairy tale has derailed so much from what actually happened (and it kinda amazes Nari how humans can go so off from the original source material but that’s neither here or there!), she understands the act of having her youth taking from her even after she escaped the clutches from the Big Bad Wolf, it’s still something that she deals with and struggles to this day.
In a sense, they both understand what it feels like to be so young and trusting of the world and being so filled with curiosity, just as much as they understand how quickly things can take a turn for the worst because of it. They find reconciliation and understanding in each other since they both went through similar experiences, however, it’s because of those similarities that they don’t fully trust one another.
Dynamics
They’re dynamic is very push and pull, sometimes they’re at each others throats and other times they’re at each others door begging for forgiveness. It’s exhausting yet kind of entertaining for everybody to bare witness because they never know what’s going to happen next.
Nari is entertained by Soo, she thinks her angry outburst that mostly are directed at Nari’s expense are quite funny and often pushes her button to get her to react. Soo, in turn, always takes bait though whether it’s because she’s actually annoyed at Nari’s antics or is actually amused and just playing along for the bit is still ip in the air.
What’s interesting to Nari though is how Soo is completely different person when she’s not yelling at her. For one, Soo is a bit standoffish to everybody else and puts on a cold exterior and doesn’t let anyone ever get too close to her. The difference between how Soo treats Nari vs how Soo treats the rest of the Colorful members is very apparent and noticeable to everybody (well expect Soo), and it doesn’t go unnoticed by Nari that she’s the only one Soo lets her guard down around. It both makes her feel prideful to see a side of Soo that most people would never see yet nervous all the same (though Nari would admit that part).
And on the flip side, Soo can’t help but be attracted and intrigued by Nari, almost the same way she was attracted to Ophelia. As much as she hates to admit, there’s still a sense of curiosity lingering inside of her. She can’t help but be pulled in by challenging things and Nari is the most challenging person she has ever met.
Soo never knows what Nari is thinking or what her motives are and she so desperately wants to figure it out, wants to figure Nari out. That thought both excites and scares her because she doesn’t want to get hurt again by another person she likes, yet doesn’t have the heart to let her go so she’s kind of stuck in this weird limbo not knowing what to do or where to go but all she knows is that she doesn’t want to do it alone.

Dear Amelia Rosier,
I have a new target for you.
A teenager by the name of Lee Hyunmin. He knows more than he should, and I want you to bring him to me. Alive.
Do be advised I’m not the only one looking for him. The usual groups of men who remain as bothersome as always have been spotted asking around for his location, however, a new group of women have caught my attention. I caution you to take care, my contacts have told me that these women are the same 11 girls who escaped HORIZON Academy 7 years ago.
I’ve dug up as much as I can about these women in hopes of giving you an idea of what you’re up against.
Sincerely,
The Crane

Sometimes we see the world for what it isn't. At such times, there is a significant chance that causality may be subject to manipulation. The most common reason for this is the use of the Reyes-Wilder Causality Engine.
The Reyes-Wilder Causality Engine was invented by Michael-Donovan Reyes and Margaret Wilder, two of my personal favorite experts in the field of Trans-Dimensional Engineering. Though, of course, they were the ones who created the field nary eight years ago- and as such are the foremost experts in said field. So it is no small surprise that they are my favorite speakers on the subject
Regardless, the Causality Engine allows for the manipulation of the very fabric of space-time. One of Wilder's favorite theories is of how one could, quite conceivably, rewrite the fabric of reality without anyone the wiser with just a few small reworks to the Kuiper Manifold.

A bit early… but i’ve been overtaken by a terrible new wip idea (yes i know don’t yell). You can blame Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno for this and yes there’s no immediate correlation… and as always a bit more than six sentences.
From: Untitled
Fandom: Mass Effect Andromeda
Pairing: MReyder as always.
Warnings: First draft. Seer!Reyes. Soulmates. Abuse of angaran language. Keema is a badass as always. Possibly OOC Reyes. Alternative Universe.
“Where are you going?” Keema’s voice echoed through the cave startling him as he finished his preflight checks and bashed the top of his head against the undercarriage of the engine he’d been checking.
“I’ll only be gone for maybe a week,” he said, popping his head out and rubbing it, already feeling the beginnings of a knot.
Keema had her arms crossed over her chest, an unimpressed look on her face as she stalked over to his side before her hand was cradling his cheek to get him to look at her. The tingle of her touch said she was reading him. “Sholaon. Tell me,” she ordered, eyes searching his face.
Reluctantly, Reyes tugged at her hand to dislodge it. “I need to do this.”
“Do what?” She asked, tone pleading. “Something is wrong.”
His shoulders stiffened and he straightened. “I… I need to know something.”
“Let me help. Tell me.”
Licking his lips, he stepped away from her. “I’m not sure if he’s going to be there but i need to…. I need to check.”
“He? Who is he?”
The urge to tell her about how he’d been dreaming of Scott his whole life was there on the tip of his tongue but he couldn’t.
“Is it your Vaasa-nari?”
“My what?” He looked back at her in confusion. His soul twin?
“The direct translation is inaccurate from my language to yours. The one who is the other half of your soul—I believe you would say your soul’s mate.”
“My soulmate?” His voice had gone a bit high which was embarrassing. She’d completely thrown him off by the concept that Scott was his….
There was no such thing as a soulmate… but he had been dreaming of Scott his entire life. Had assumed his hookups and brief sexual encounters were just that—brief. He’d been holding out for Scott his entire life. Waiting for him.
“Your soul mate,” Keema repeated in confirmation, eyeing him in motherly concern.
“How do you—“
“I can feel him. He is with you.”
He goggled at her. “What?”
“So much sorrow within you—you were hiding when you first came here to my home which has become ours. At first I thought you were a strange tavetara as you spoke like you had never known any other language than Shelesh but that is wrong.” She tilted her head, hand reaching back for his jaw and he didn’t fight her when she touched his bare skin a second time. “You are not angara but you know my people and are the son of my soul despite being a human.”
He made a noise of protest in the back of his throat but she immediately silenced it by continuing to talk as if he hadn’t interrupted. “Your soul though has this echo that flickers in and out like it is not wholly there. It is your Vaasa-nari.”
“My soul mate,” he whispered. “Scott.”
She gave a small nod. “Something has happened to your Scott?”
“He’s hurt,” he confessed, throat tight and he had to blink to keep back the tears. “He’s hurt and scared…and I need to know he’s going to be okay.”

Ok so I just so happened to find your iwaizumi fic and binge-read it… and you are like ridiculously talented. The emotions you were making me feel were so strong and I love that! I’m so fed up with iwa’s cheating and guilt-tripping behavior towards y/n, especially because he made the choice to cheat knowing that he loved her. Also I have zero respect for women like hina, like absolutely none. I did not care for nary a one of her tears bc she made the decision to chase after a taken guy and had the audacity to hope y/n gets hurt in all of this??? I don’t understand how her or any woman can be proud of being a guys side chick, but she needs to humble herself real quick. She might be pretty or whatever but her shitty attitude makes her ugly asf. I’m curious to see the karma that comes both her and iwa’s way. Also question, so does like every dude in y/n’s life have a crush on her?💀 cause oikawa, mattsun, makki, atsumu, all seemed to be feening for her. Too bad they didn’t think to tell her about the cheating. Also I saw that you read sincerely not too! I can see a little bit of similarity, and I am soooo here for it!!
Thank you 💕💕 that means a lot.
Yeah, I think everyone strongly, very strongly, dislikes Iwa and Hina lol.
Sort of Mattsun and Makki have gotten over their crush, but care for yn. Oikawa still has a bit of a crush, and Atsumu has liked her since college. Makki, Mattsun, and Oikawa all found out about Hajime’s cheating around the same time yn did.
Yeah I am SN is soo good. I actually wanted to write an Iwa fic after my MatsuHana one and BLCTKU popped into my head after listening to Jessie Reyes' album that has the same title, I just happened to be reading SN too

¿Gaylen?

Misconduct, Ch. 13 [Soldier 76/Reader]
You have an extremely inappropriate crush on your commanding officer. Maybe if you work hard enough, you’ll stop having feelings.
Credits: Collaboration with @antiloquist. Follow the blog / AO3 mirror @miss-conduct.
You levelled your gaze in the bathroom mirror as you adjusted the fit of your uniform. The wrinkles within the fabric smoothed out beneath your firm palming, nary a button nor strap out of place.
You had recently returned from a covert operation in France, successfully capturing Amélie Lacroix and bringing her into Overwatch custody. During the course of the mission, however, you learned the true identity of your Commander. Not only was the late, great Jack Morrison alive and kicking, but so was his ex-partner, Gabriel Reyes, an Overwatch-leader-turned-international-terrorist in possession of biotech you didn’t believe humankind would be capable of inventing within your lifetime. To add insult to injury, shortly after you returned to base, Soldier 76—no, Morrison—stepped down as your commanding officer without so much as a single word of warning.
A laundry list of recent events.
Had you forgotten anything?
Athena delivered your request to meet him at sundown, and you took his subsequent silence as an agreement.
There was no planning to your conversation this time, no flowcharts or emergency courses of action. Your dialogue would be directed by the worry in your bones, the weariness brought on by Amélie’s murderous gaze, by Reaper’s aura of death, by the feel of Morrison’s blood pouring down the front of you as you carried him back to the dropship.
With one final adjustment to your jacket, you crouched down and laced up your combat boots.
You dressed like you were on a mission.
That’s precisely what this was.
-
The training grounds felt familiar in a way little else did. The mechanical hum of bots reached your ears and gave you a boost of adrenaline, preparing you for intense drills, the preemptive rush almost pavlovian. This was where you first hauled out the gun you built, the one you could barely lift on your own. This was where you trained, where you improved your endurance, your strength, and your aim. Just yesterday, a few floors up from where you stood now, was where you got drunk and tossed bottles for McCree to pick out of the air with his revolver.
This was where it started, and this was where it would end, one way or another.
Another deep breath to steel yourself as you rounded the corner.
You almost didn’t recognize him.
Clad in cargo pants and a plain black t-shirt, Morrison leaned against the metal barrier bordering the cliff’s edge, keeping his back to you as he looked out over the landscape. No jacket or visor, no mask or pretense—just him and his presence, whole.
“Thank you for meeting me,” he said, not turning to face you.
You did not reply.
His voice had a warm clarity you hadn’t heard unhindered by the mask since you sat back-to-back on the hotel room floor in France.
It felt like such a long time ago.
(Him and his damn frozen burritos.)
Your thoughts poured in with varying levels of patience, filtered through the consideration of how many emotions you would let yourself bring to the conversation. You had questions, many questions, questions you made a point not to plan beforehand because he did not deserve the courtesy of your organization. As frustrated as you were, you had to maintain composure, as revealing how much his actions had affected you would have compromised your position. These mistakes were his to resolve, after all. Not yours.
Keeping an arm’s length from him, you approached his side, gripping the railing with both hands.
“I’m sorry,” he said at once.
You kept your tone even. “Do you know what you’re apologizing for?”
“Too many things to count.” He breathed out, slow and deep. “I warned you that I—”
“Don’t turn this on me.”
“I didn’t mean to,” he replied, coolly. “I’m bad at this, Reader. I didn’t used to be, but I’m a few years out of practice.”
He was trying to be placating, you could tell, but the informality of his tone only served to annoy you. “Why are we here, Commander Morrison?”
He bristled at the sound of his name; it sounded so foreign, so distant on your tongue. “I stepped down as your reporting officer.”
“I know.”
An unfamiliar emotion—unfamiliar to you, at least—flickered across his face. The sudden set of his jaw, the slightest tug of a grimace at the corner of his mouth, both subtle traces of annoyance, but as his every microexpression was new to you, any reaction he let slip may as well have been spelled out before your eyes. It was satisfying, in a way, to see something other than the cherry-red vacancy of his visor across his face.
“I wanted to be the one to tell you, so you would at least know why.” His brows drew together in that old, familiar way they did when they still peeked up above his mask. “I stepped down so we could talk. Any questions you have, I’ll answer them the best I can. No secrecy. No bullshit.”
“You had to step down to do that?”
“I don’t make the rules anymore, Reader. I just play by them.”
The implication was not lost on you.
As a Commander within the organization, it went without saying he couldn’t speak openly because of his position. You were still new to Overwatch, and he was given orders to restrict what information you had access to; without him as your direct superior, however, he no longer had any obligation to stand in your way. Regardless of what Morrison told you today, Strike Commander Oxton was going to be under the impression you left this conversation knowing more than you should.
So you figured you might as well ask whatever the hell you want.
“...where’s Amélie?”
For a moment, Morrison looked surprised, as if that wasn’t the question he’d been expecting. “She’s in secure holding. Angela’s trying to figure out how to reverse what Talon’s done to her.”
“But she’s safe?” you pressed. “We’re not...interrogating her, or anything?”
“No,” he assured. “She’s been a prisoner of war for over a decade—Lena’s putting everything we have into her care. As a matter of fact, Amélie...” Hesitance gave him pause as he reconsidered his phrasing. “She asked about you the other day. ‘The one from Quebec.’ Wanted to know how you were doing.”
(Amélie was looking for you, too?)
Blindsided by the revelation, you were sure your expression of bewilderment had already given you away. No use trying to lie about it, now.
“We...had a few words on the ship,” you said, dismissively.
“That wasn’t on your mission report.”
“No, it wasn’t.”
You volunteered no further information. To your relief, he decided not to push.
Not right now, at least.
“I think she wants to talk to you,” was all he said.
“...can I do that?”
“Don’t see why not. Make sure you’re on Angela’s good side before you go asking her for favours, though. Take it from me.”
(Memories of you and McCree breaking into Dr. Ziegler’s office flashed through your mind, and you hoped you were half as stealthy then as you would have been if you were sober.)
After the events of Le Havre, you felt responsible for Amélie’s well-being; although she was in more-than-capable hands, that didn’t mean she wasn’t being harmed. Who had the final say in what was best for her, anyway? Had anyone asked her what she wanted, or did her condition render her incapable of providing informed consent? Did the countless attempts to reverse Talon’s procedure cause her any pain?
Would she even tell you if it did?
Weary, you dragged a hand down the front of your face to reorient yourself, covering your mouth as you stared out at the view beyond the training facility. Ice floes drifted at the foot of the distant mountains, the rocky landscape carving jagged edges into the horizon.
“You chased Reyes after we promised not to be reckless,” you mumbled into your hand, sounding bored.
“I did,” he replied. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m your strategist. I’m your escape plan. Not communicating your change of objective was stupid as hell.”
“It was.”
“You put both of our lives in jeopardy.”
“I’d be dead if it wasn’t for you.”
“You know, agreeing with me still takes all the fun out of standing up to you.”
“But you’ve gotten so good at it.”
You sneered. As quick as he’d always been to own up to his mistakes, acknowledgement alone wouldn’t be enough, this time. “I’m going to need more than that, Commander.”
“My intel had Reyes on a different continent at the time of our mission,” he explained. “I wanted to make sure we hadn’t been compromised, but it was my chasing him that ended up compromising us. He let himself be seen because he knew I’d follow. I should have known better.”
“Couldn’t just rack up the sighting to bad intel?”
He shook his head. “The intel I had on him’s never been bad before.”
“Really?” you said, incredulous. “Who’s your source?”
“Sombra.”
“...oh.”
“Once in a while,” he sighed, “she’ll find me and tell me where he is, what he’s up to, where he’s going. Thinks that counts as me being indebted to her. I told her it doesn’t. That’s why she contacted you in Romania. She knew I wouldn’t take the algorithm, so she got you involved to grab it for me.”
You thought it over for a moment. “Then why lie about Reaper not being in France?”
“Maybe to prove how much I’ve relied on her intel up until now. Maybe just for the hell of it. I’ve learned to stop trying to rationalize her motives a long time ago—whatever they are, they’re for her own benefit. No one else’s.”
Everyone was connected in one way or another, you realized. By virtue of being an agent of Overwatch, you were just as much a part of this tangled web of complicated pasts and ulterior motives as anyone else was, like it or not—and like or not, you’d entered this game at a disadvantage, as everyone involved seemed to have some history with one another you were forced to learn about on the fly.
The most pressing question of all leapt from your throat, quicker than you could think to contain it. “Was I the only one who didn’t know?”
“About Reaper?”
“About you.”
You knew the answer, of course—McCree had told you the previous day—but you wanted to hear it from him, if only to test the waters of his honesty.
And he nodded again.
“You were the first recruit we picked up after we got the team back together,” he said. “Everyone here’s from the old days, or related to someone from the old days. When I came back into the picture as Soldier 76…the rest of the world may have had no idea who I was, but they did. How could they not? We were family.”
“Was that why you liked having me around?” You felt your grip on the railing bar tighten. “Because I was the only one who didn’t know?”
His face fell.
“It wasn’t the only reason,” he said, “but it was a reason.”
(No bullshit, indeed.)
You weren’t sure if you had a right to be as frustrated as you felt. His identity was his own to protect, after all; as hard as it was to admit, he never owed you the truth. Even so, you felt like an idiot. You hated being caught off-guard. You hated not knowing all the facts.
McCree’s words rang through your thoughts, clear as day.
So are you mad at him for not tellin you, or mad at yourself for not figurin’ it out sooner?
From the corner of your eye, you noticed Morrison shift his weight, leaning heavier against the railing as he folded his hands together.
“I’m sorry you found out the way you did.” His voice was soft, but earnest. “I put on the mask to separate the man I am now from the man I used to be. You didn’t know who that was, but you took my lead, anyway. Spoke with me. Enjoyed my company. It...made me feel new again. I was afraid I was starting to consider you in ways I shouldn’t.”
“I’m pushing thirty, Commander, you can stop treating me like a child.”
“That doesn’t make the problems go away. I’m not your boss anymore, but I’m twice your age and I still have rank on you. There’s a difference in power dynamics, in experience—you might not see it as taking advantage, but that’s exactly what makes it dangerous.”
“I know,” you snapped in frustration, running a hand through your hair. “I know it does. How do you think I felt, crushing on my superior like some kind of tired cliché? I’ve gotten this far in my career without ever—I thought I was better than that. I tried to convince myself out of it. I thought working by your side would be enough.”
“But it wasn’t, was it?”
Your stomach sank. He hadn’t sounded accusatory, but somber, almost sympathetic.
“And by the time you realized it wouldn’t be enough,” he continued, “it was too late to say anything. Not without undermining all you’ve done and making it seem like your emotions were the only thing keeping you around.”
You watched him stare down at his hands, as if the words he was searching for were held somewhere between his fingertips.
“You’re smart. Tenacious. Diligent. If I were to...if I did anything that might’ve suggested I brought you on for a reason other than you deserving to be here—”
“I know I deserve to be here,” you interrupted. “Had my doubts for a while, but that was before I saved your ass.”
He chuckled, and the sound was music to your ears.
His striking blue eyes shifted to glance in your direction, the remnants of his laughter lingering in his smirk. “Guess there’s nothing stopping me now then, is there?”
“...stopping you from what?”
“There’s another reason I stepped down, Reader.” Wavering under the intensity of your gaze, he was no longer quite looking you in the eye. “I don’t want command over you, anymore. I don’t see you as my subordinate. I haven’t for a while.”
You had to keep yourself from trembling. “What am I to you, then?”
“An equal,” he said. “A partner.”
The bottom of your stomach fell out and shattered, filling your insides with slivers of ice as something dense and panicked tightened within your chest. There that word was again. ‘Partner.’ What he hadn’t had since he went rogue. What Winston once said Morrison had always been training you up to be. Your mind grew overwhelmed with the memory of a clawed, shadowed stature and a dark voice and a life-changing chance once gambled on.
How could you ever measure up?
“I’m not Reyes, Commander,” you whispered.
“I never wanted you to be.”
Vulnerability weighed upon his shoulders, the likes of which you’d never seen him bear, before. The gears in his head were turning, you could tell, thinking of you, and of him, and of where you would go from here. His eyes alone were so expressive, you noticed—a stark contrast from the statuesque carbon-fiber stoicism you were used to. You hadn’t realized how much the mask was hiding until it was off.
Maybe that was why he wore it so much.
“I’ve betrayed your trust,” he said, firmly. “I know that. I would like to work on getting it back, if you’ll let me.”
From where you once placed him on a pedestal, recent events had cast him in a lower, imperfect, more mortal light. The man you once idolized stood before you, nearly wringing his hands in anticipation, as human as you’d ever seen him. You respected him more, but you revered him less. You figured that was a good thing.
It was then when he looked away from you, returning his gaze to the absence of answers held within his barren palms.
So you gave him one.
Reaching to cross your forearm over one of his own, you wove your fingers between his, your silent gesture unapologetic and sure.
His hand curled back around yours at once, like a reflex.
He laughed quietly in disbelief. “Didn’t think I’d get a chance to feel this way about anyone, again.”
You felt him run a thumb across your fingers, the gentle motion making your breath catch in your chest. You glanced up at him; though he’d kept his voice steady, his eyes were glazing over, and the unexpected reaction decimated what remained of your resolve. The warm smile he gave you wrinkled the corners of his eyes, his expression giving you the briefest glimpse into a man many years younger.
“Truth is,” he beamed, “I’m crazy about you, sweetheart.”
You felt your heart seize within your chest.
The weight of his words collapsed on you all at once. It was you who made him feel hope, you who affected him so profoundly, you who made him question what he once swore off for the sake of self-preservation. You’d imagined him confessing before, but no amount of idle thoughts and private daydreams would prepare you for hearing the words out loud.
There was something settled behind his eyes, as well—something unsettling you couldn’t ignore. This was a man who didn’t seem to be afraid of anything, who made a career out of staying level-headed in the toughest of situations, and here he was before you, absolutely terrified. The last time he gambled on something like this, life and circumstance dealt him a poor hand; now, all these years later, he wanted to try again.
With you.
It was only when he brushed a finger to your cheek did you realize you were crying.
He breathed another small laugh, shaking a few of his own tears loose from the corners of his eyes. He could see you replaying his words inside your head—he could always tell when you were overthinking—and he squeezed your hand tighter to let you know how much he’d meant it.
You wanted to hold him close, to burrow deep inside his chest, to reach straight into his heart and fix whatever it was that made him so goddamn scared. But he would have to let you, first. You couldn’t do that if he continued keeping you guessing.
“Stop isolating yourself when things go wrong,” you said, the first on your list of ground rules. “You did it after Romania. You did it after Le Havre. I don’t need to know everything, but you need to stop disappearing on me.”
He nodded with total understanding. “Force of habit from going solo. I’ll work on it.”
“And I need you to talk to me more,” you continued. “If we’re doing this, you can’t keep me wondering where your head’s at.”
“You got it. That does go both ways, you know,” he teased.
“Hey, I never said I was any good at this, either.”
You gave him a sly smile and wiped your eyes on the back of your sleeve. Earlier that day, you didn’t think you would be standing in full uniform before your casually-dressed Commander, the two of you recovering from tears as he took orders for what he could do to restore your trust in him. A rare opportunity, indeed.
It would be a shame if you didn’t take advantage.
“...one more thing.”
“Name it.”
You levelled his eyes again. “Do you really want to be with me?”
He didn’t shy away from you, this time. “I do.”
You let go of his hand and took a few slow steps backwards, sliding away until your fingertips broke contact.
You hoped the smirk you gave him was half as playful sober as it would have been if you were drunk.
“Prove it.”
His look of confusion turned to surprise, then to determined understanding as he watched you walk away.
There had been a resolve in his voice, a finality, the kind that made you realize he would move mountains for you if you so much as wished it.
You had issued him a challenge. It was his turn to give chase.
And he was all too happy to comply.

“Welcome to the Colorful World of Fantasia!”
Growing up, Amarie read countless of fairy tales, stories about princess, witches, mermaids, and monsters, but never once did she believe that her beloved fairy tale stories would one day turn into a reality.
Yet all that changed, when the friends she once knew before, suddenly started disappearing one by one, completely forgotten by the world, and at one point, she disappeared too.
Waking up one night, she realized that she hadn’t awoken from her bedroom, but instead found herself in a whole new world. A world where it’s much more colorful and magical than the one she came from, Fantasia.
She thought that a world such as bright and magical as Fantasia would be absolutely phenomenal, but she quickly came to realize that it’s nothing like she’d imagine it to be. The heroes that she once looked up to, the fairy tales that she stayed up all night reading, turned out to be nothing but a lie. And with tension rising in the air, and a revolutionary War heading in gear, she wonders if it’s really safe to be here?
—THE COLORFUL—
The Mysterious Fairy Godmother
Fleur Feé — The Fairy Godmother of Fantasia, the leader of the Colorful Bouquet, and the person responsible for sealing the Dark Fairy up for all those years. While she may look kind, sweet, and motherly, don’t be fooled by her generosity and kind exterior, for in actuality she’s very sharp and cunning, and more often than not, the wishes she grants causes more trouble than not. Yet even so, Amarie can’t help but have a sense of familiarity with her, almost as she knew her before….
The Quiet Little Mermaid
Soo Anderson — The once curious Little Mermaid is nothing but a shell of the person she once was, after being exiled from the Sea Kingdom, she made a contract with the Fairy Godmother, trading fins for legs. She’s very quiet, keeps to herself most of the time, and very cynical, lacking the kind of optimism you’ve read from her stories growing up. Though she mostly keeps to herself, she can be very ill-tempered and quick to anger, if you get her to that point. Not much is known about her past, she keeps people at arm’s length, and has no intention of letting anyone get too close to her.
The Rebellious Thief Rapunzel
Hana Russo — An infamous thief who steals jewelry, money, and goods from the village people. She is the epitome of greed and the main ones calling for a revolution, the village people hate her and in attempt to drive her out once and for all, they devised an attack on her. She will do anything to achieve the freedom that she so desperately desire, so in a hasty attempt to regain control during the mass witch hunt on her head, she made a contract with the Fairy Godmother.
The Spoiled Princess of Beauty
Camellia Clermont — From Riches to Rags, this once beloved princess has been cursed to sleep for a thousand years after a dreadful accident. No one has had the courage to wake the princess up until you came along and woken her up with “True Love’s Kiss”, yet when she woke up, she was nothing like Amarie expected. Instead of the kind and caring princess that would sing your praises after being awaken from a curse, she’s anything but. Needy, selfish, self-absorbed, and demanding, describes her to a T, yet Amarie can’t deny, she is quite beautiful, but there is something underneath that beauty that hides something more sinister.
The Two Faced Red Riding Hood
Nari Reyes — The newest recruit of the Colorful Team. Full of light and joy, what’s not to like about her? She brings a fresh set of joy and happiness wherever she goes, drastically different than any person you encountered so far. Yet there’s something about her that’s not right, for all her smiles and laughter, quickly disappear when the full moon comes around, and her true personality kicks in.
—THE MONOCHROME—
The Lonely Dark Fairy
Dayanara Perez — The person who has been sealed away for hundreds of years. After living in isolation for hundreds of years, once she finally broke free from purgatory, she established “The Monochrome”, a vigilante group that was made to take down people who abused their power in society. Though people’s memories of her have been completely wiped away from existence, there have been stories and folktales flying around about a “Dark Fairy”, once she was released from Purgatory, she took on that “Dark Fairy” persona. Her fairy tale is unknown.
The Wingless Fairy Traitor
Fei Wang — Loyal follower of “The Monochrome”, and the one responsible for awakening the Dark Fairy. This beautiful fairy was once a high respected general amongst the Fairy Kingdom, if beauty could kill, then hers was deadly. But after a run in incident with the Fairy Godmother, her reputation soured, and her once beautiful wings were cut off from her back. But even so, not even that could keep them down, for that incident only fueled their hatred and anger towards the Fairy Godmother. After she found about the Dark Fairy, they were thrilled with having another ally by her side. In modern fairy tale stories, she is known as, Tinkerbell.
The Innocent Snow White
Mira Morozov — The older step-sister of Camellia Clermont, while she is not a princess by blood, she has captured the people’s heart, and was nicknamed, “Snow White, the People’s Princess”, for she was so warm and kind that even the snow melted under her touch. However, as much as she tried to be kind and caring, there are some people in the world that just won’t stand for it, and so when the cursed Sleeping Beauty, poisoned her with an apple, well what you could do? But thanks to the kind and vigilante Dark Fairy, who saved her from a fast and quick death, she was able to live another day. But even after all these years, she was never truly able to forgive and forget, harboring so much anger and animosity to her step-sister, that the once beloved nickname “Snow White”, had quickly became synonymous with her cold heart.
The Strange Alice
May Weather — A former child prodigy that was once destined for greater and better things. A normal bright student at the very top of her class, was now a closed off NEET who relies on “delicacies” to get through the day. Is the youngest in “The Monochrome”, and the strangest by far. She stumbled upon Wonderland on accident and never cared enough to leave. She doesn’t remember her past, her present, who she is, what’s her name, how did she get here, how did this happen, and she doesn’t care enough to find the answer out either, for Wonderland and the Dark Fairy is all she will ever need.
The Angelic Beast and the Wicked Beauty
Dahlia Hutchinson — Born from a family of nobility, she is the embodiment of class and prestige, with a hint of snark. Perfect in every way, yet she soon ran out of luck, when she decided to throw a ball that ruined her reputation and forever cursed her as a monstrous beast. However, after an encounter with the Dark Fairy, she broke her curse after sacrificing her beauty for her humanity, leaving her completely unrecognizable from the woman she was before, that even her beast form was

Pledges of Allegiance is a serialized commission of 16 flags created by acclaimed artists to reflect the current political climate.
Each flag points to an issue the artist is passionate about, a cause they believe is worth fighting for, and speaks to how we might move forward collectively.
Conceived in response to the current political climate, Pledges of Allegiance aims to inspire a sense of community among cultural institutions and begin articulating the urgent response our political moment demands.
The public-art project began on Flag Day in June 2017 and will run through July 2018. However, the University of Kansas just announced:
“Over the course of the day, the conversation around this display has generated public safety concerns for our campus community. While we want to foster difficult dialogue, we cannot allow that dialogue to put our people or property in harm’s way. We have begun the process of relocating the exhibit to the Spencer Art Museum.”
Participating artists include Tania Bruguera, Alex Da Corte, Jeremy Deller, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Ann Hamilton, Robert Longo, Josephine Meckseper, Marilyn Minter, Vik Muniz, Jayson Musson, Ahmet Ögüt, Yoko Ono, Trevor Paglen, Pedro Reyes, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and Nari Ward.

“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” (2018)
Drama/Thriller
Running Time: 122 minutes
Written by: Taylor Sheridan
Directed by: Stefano Sollima
Featuring: Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Donovan, Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo
Alejandro: [to Isabela] “You have no reason to trust me, but trusting me is how you’re going to survive.”
Critical Commentary:
There is no doubt in my mind that the release of “Sicario” (2015) three years ago not only announced a few new talents but also solidified quite a number more in front of, as well as behind the camera, it also was possibly the most underrated film of that year. It should have scored multiple Oscar nominations but for the most part flew under many peoples radar which is a crime. On the surface it was a film about drug cartels, revenge as well as the journey of a young idealistic DEA agent, of course it was much more than that as well as a precursor to the unruly politics that would follow just a year later. It also stated that the war on Mexico was just beginning, one that would not only rage at the border but on nightly television, ultimately right now in the White House itself. “Sicario” was that rare breed of film that had at its heart a female protagonist surrounded by men who were undermining her at almost every point, it had a well thought out plot as well as an almost Cinéma vérité narrative but with a look that was stunning in its widescreen lushness and not afraid to, at times pull back for the big picture eschewing star power and good looks for some kind of grittiness even though at times it was still a Hollywood film. The one aspect of the film that was overwhelming was that I know when I saw it I wanted more, now three years later the sequel has arrived, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” (2018).
On the surface this sequel may seem like a real mixed bag, undoubtedly the star of the first film has returned in Taylor Sheridan the screenwriter, who has gone from strength to strength in his career having written the magnificent Oscar nominated “Hell or High Water” (2016), writing and directing his magnificent noirsh “Wind River” (2017) as well as the upcoming series “Yellowstone” (2018). Also returning are the definitely now great character actors, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Donovan in the same roles. Unfortunately there is a downside with the loss of Denis Villeneuve, Emily Blunt, Daniel Kaluuya, Roger Deakinsand Jóhann Jóhannssonare all not returning which does lessen the impact of the sequel but it is still a fascinating affair to be sure. What is great to see is that new fresh talent has replaced these non returnees to the betterment of the film overall.
“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” has been directed by Stefano Sollima an Italina filmmaker who is possibly best known for directing a large proportion of the series “Gomorrah” (2014 – ) based on the film of the same name, so the subject matter is not far removed from this new film. The great aspect of both films was to have foreign directors in charge as it always seems to be a benefit to politically charged movies, that to have someone removed from the situation in charge, opens up the narrative as well as the plot in ways someone who has a stake in the subject matter might do. This is accentuated by the look of the film, here Deakin’s has been replaced by Ridley Scott’s long-time cinematographer Dariusz Wolski who like his predesscor is an expert at creating both interior as well as exterior palate that are not only original but subject sensitive and eye catching.
The film is set fter discovering that Mexican drug cartels are smuggling terrorists across the United States border, the CIA sends Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and former undercover operative Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) to eliminate the problem. They kidnap Isabela Reyes (Isabela Moner), the daughter of a drug lord, in a false flag operation designed to incite war between rival cartels. The mission goes awry when it is discovered by the Mexican government, prompting Graver to order Reyes’ death; when Gillick refuses, he turns rogue to protect her as Graver assembles a new team to hunt them both.
The quality of the leads goes without saying in Oscar winner Benicio del Toro who has become one of the great character actors as well as someone who can play physically imposing men that with the subtly in his face can play deep emotion, while Josh Brolin has aged well into his middle age and someone who knows how to build a character from the ground up, one need only look at his increasingly complex roles over the past five years to see the evidence in that. While they are both playing the same characters from the first film, it is del Toro who is the one with real growth especially when thinking about his arc from “Sicario”. Added to the mix are Isabela Moner, Catherine Keener, Mathew Modine, Shea Whigam and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo who all play new characters designed to reinvigorate the film with the light shining directly on Moner as the maguffin of this new story. Moner has to show a range of very tough emotions as well as starting her character in one place of dominance but winding up with her persona changed in a very extreme way with layers peeled back for all to witness. The other relative newcomer is Manuel Garcia-Rulfo who like his co-star is a changed character from beginning to end, something that is a very rare to witness not just in film but also for minority characters that are normally marginalised or reduced to stereotypes. All of the actors do incredibly nuanced work with material that is not only complex but much of the narrative just have been found in the edit so to see performances as good these is rare indeed.
There is no doubt that this is a narratively as well as plot heavy film that rewards those that stick with the complex goings on within the story, following different characters at different times with varying objectives as well as never losing sight of the human drama at the core of this challenging piece of work. The ways in which the story begins to unfold on different fronts of the world may seem scattershot but they are executed in a way that the audience witness how in the dark, law enforcement can be losing sight of the people they are trying to protect so that lines are blurred between the good of the many against destroying the rights and loves of the few, especially when we are talking about cross border skirmishes. For me the key to the film is the returning character of Alejandro Gillick who as we know from the previous entry lost his family to the drug war in particular one cartel leader who is one the plot points of this film. In fact the key scene and one I imagine the writer loved creating involves sign language, a family in the middle of nowhere and a small explanation of his past which for me was one of the two best scenes of the movie. This is a film loaded with meaning as well as motivations of everyone involved, one scene sees Matt Graver going to meet the Secretary of Defence a comment is made about him being sunburnt as he is always in the field carrying out covert actions. The next scene we see a roomful of Generals and politicians, it is easy to see the pale faced men who make decisions sending the tanned men out into the danger to do the dirty work, something that should not be lost on viewers especially as we hear and see these politicians changing their minds on a whim without a thought of those doing the work in the field. It could also be seen as a comment on those holding high office especially the Presidency who have never served in their life.
As far as this years films go “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” is one of the best so far, it is a truly great sequel that stands on its own in every way. It transcends the first film in that it is about so many elements of not only human nature but incorporates social, political and personal issues that are as relevant today as they have ever been. We see the fingers of the White House through an unnamed President who fears impeachment over public support or anything else, sound familiar? Another important aspect of the film that cannot be underestimated is the mix of genre that takes place within its narrative, at points it is a road movie, a drama, a political movie, a thriller and at times even has some comedy, it melds all these genres into one coherent narrative that never lets up from its shock beginning to its almost ultimate conclusion that is at once revealing, shocking but expected.
This is a film that must be seem and seen on a big screen it takes risks with its plot and narrative which pay off for the audience it is almost all believable in its own way with nary a false move which is something to behold. Even though it is missing some key figures in front of as well as behind the camera, the screenwriter has wisely pivoted the plot to make it more of an original movie with familiar characters than attempting to make it a fully fledged sequel which seeing this movie now would have been a major error. I recommend this even for those that have not seen the first movie as it stands on its own in almost all ways which is not something that can be said of all movies even though that is how it should be, something that has been lost over the past few decades.
Technical Commentary:
Video:
“Sicario: Day of the Soldado” arrives onto 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with an upscaled 2.40:1 2160p transfer with HDR10 from a 2K digital intermediate. Dolby Vision is not an option on the disc. While upscaled, the image offers a notable uptick in detail clarity over the 1080p Blu-ray – in particular for close-ups and middle shots.
With HDR10, the image enjoys a kick in the primaries without overdoing things. Reds, blues, and the abundant yellows throughout all see some nice enhancements.
While that is a plus for Dolby Vision, a negative is in some of the night sequences things just look too dark. The brief scene where the Spec-Ops team halo jumps in the middle of the night to capture the smuggler Bashiir is an example. That scene in HDR10 is still dark, but light enough that you can actually make out some of the details of the soldiers as they fall. Dolby Vision goes dark almost to the point where they’re shadowy blobs falling from the sky. Regardless, this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is a solid effort from Sony and provides a clean and clear improvement over the 1080p disc.
Audio:
On 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” is upgraded to a full object-based Dolby Atmos mix.
Dialogue is well balanced throughout and, like the DTS-MA 7.1 mix, Hildur Guðnadóttir’s score offers some great mood and atmosphere pumping up those low LFE tones giving that creepy dissonant vibes. Levels are spot on without any softness issues or need to raise the volume higher than you normally would.
Special Features:
From Film to Franchise: Continuing the Story (HD 8:06)
An Act of War: Making Sicario: Day of the Soldado (HD 15:34)
The Assassin and the Soldier: The Cast and Characters (HD 14:04)
Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin star in SICARIO 2: SOLDADO.

Late Night News with Zelda Wilson
“As you all should know by now, especially since it’s been all over this channel today, last night, between the hours of 11pm and 3am, a woman going by Lady Eros was sighted in the city, claiming to be a superhero. Nobody really saw her using any superpowers, though...so we don’t even know what she’s capable of.”
“Now, of course, I took it upon myself to do some investigating, as did the police department. I would like to get a chance to interview her, and the police department wants to make sure she doesn’t do anything that gets anybody hurt. Of course, I can’t share any info from the police investigation, but I’m pretty sure their investigation’s not much different from my own.”
“Now, I’ll just say this: I have not found her...yet. What I have found, though, is who she’s not. As you all should know, last night, until around one in the morning, I had the stars from Star Whores 2 on a live show. That means that myself, Angela Fox, Mia Madison, Rosa Reyes, Candy Coope, and Joy Jones cannot be Lady Eros. While Joy did leave before the more fun part of the show started, she was still there past the first sighting of Lady Eros.”
“Now, the first place I went in my investigation was Eros Industries. They seemed the most likely source for a superhero to get technology from. After some convincing, though,” Zelda winked at the camera, “Everybody’s favourite CEO Susan Grande told me that she was working late last night, as was her top inventor, Nikki Lenz. She also let me check the security footage, and, well...Susan wasn’t working very much, but she was there with Liz King until around midnight, while Nikki was, in fact, in the lab late until around one, and Sophie was in the lab with her until 11:30. Anne Grande was not there, but, again, as you should all know, she showed up to my live show last night, to join in on some of the fun. That means all the top people in Eros Industries are accounted for.”
“Now, as for some others. As some of the people who talked to Lady Eros have said, she apparently isn’t a big fan of the Eros Bay police department, and claimed they were not doing their jobs very well. That rules out, at the very least, Zabrina and Zoey. If the chief or the chief’s sister thought that the department wasn’t doing well, they’d fix that, not go off on their own. Some other people with alibis include Nari Joh, who had a show of her own late into the night, Mary Berry, who was at her favourite bar, Lucy Smith, who was with a client, and that client corroborated her alibi, Katie Fox was at city hall late into the night, and showed me the security footage to prove it, and Casey Smith, Jacklyn Smith, Cherry Starr and Eve Starr were all at the Fox Strip Club and Brothel.”
“Of course, I couldn’t get alibis for every single resident in just a day of investigating, but I did my best. So, with all this info, who do I think Lady Eros is? The way I see it, there are four possibilities. One, it could be Lavender Summers. Nobody’s seen her since Violet broke her out of the Winters’ compound, after my research discovered Lavender’s existence. Two, it could be one of the people I’ve gotten an alibi for that’s just good at covering their tracks...or used a Stephie unit to pose as them or something. Three, Lady Eros is a Stephie unit, and we just need to look for her owner, not Lady Eros herself. Four...as people know, we’ve been getting some...unique visitors from fictional worlds, it could just be a visitor like that under a new name, but I think that’s unlielkly, since why would she name herselfafter Eros Bay if she’s not from Eros Bay? Of course, it could just be somebdoy I haven’t found yet, but my first guesses are among the people I’ve gotten alibis for already.”
“In the end...there’s not much information out there yet. If you know anything about Lady Eros, please, let me know, anonymously or not. Lady Eros, if you’re watching, I would love to get an interview. We can do it on your terms, off the cuff or on the phone or whatever, so you can make sure I don’t turn you in to my sisters, not that I would anyways, but I can understand why you’d want to be sure. Now, I better be off, since Lady Eros may even be on the streets right now. We’ll play a rerun of last night’s show for all you viewers. Enjoy! I know I sure enjoyed myself last night.”
#Eros Bay info#I don't want to give too many clues but Zelda would investigate so of course she'd have a special news segment#so here are your clues#Eros Bay News
