Sunday Love: You’re driving me crazy

@sunday-romance​ This yelled my gay disaster power couple Nardik and Eshmerrik. And what is best to drive someone crazy in a child-friendly way than having kids? So, here we are with a little snippet of how they are as dads. 

Eshmerrik did not know whether to be angry or shake his head and laugh. There he sat with the patient files and got the news that Nadishi had been taken out of the day care center early. Somehow, he could understand Nardik, but he also had to learn that he could not have Nadishi around him all the time. When he reached the office, he could already hear his daughter's laughter from outside. Eyebrows up to the hairline he opened the door and stopped at the threshold. Nesryn sat on the floor in front of him and held Nadishi while she rode on Irideska's back. The whole thing was made even more absurd by the fact that Irideska had taken her hated dragon form and buckled like a wild horse. Nardik was sitting at the desk, and he laughed at all this. "By Kasht, you drive me crazy," Eshmerrik sighed as he picked Nadishi up. "Daddy!" she squealed enthusiastically and pointed to Irideska, "Dagon! "I know, darling, Irideska is a dragon." "I suppose they told you?", Nardik grinned behind his desk. "Indeed, and I hardly think you've gotten anywhere while Nadishi is here." "Actually, we were productive anyway," Nesryn defended the situation with her head laid sideways and a thoughtful look. "Yes, sometimes a different perspective helps," Irideska giggled as she changed back into her human form. Again Nadishi squealed with joy and jumped around in Eshmerrik's arms. Nardik came around and took it off with a smile. "Now admit it, you would do the same if you could." Eshmerrik took a deep breath. "You are really driving me crazy." "Come on, can you resist those eyes?" With these words, Nardik held Nadishi to his face. "Damn it, you'll get your way." "What am I missing now?" Nesryn had gotten up by now and was brushing her clothes off. "We're rebuilding part of the office for the little sweetie pie." Eshmerrik could only growl. Sometimes he really wanted to break his husband's neck. "On one condition?" "What is it, sweetheart? Nardik didn't react to the angry looks Eshmerrik gave him. "Once you're done, you'll have a lunch date every day. With me." "We'll work that out, won't we, sweetie pie?" Nadishi bounced up and down in Nardik's arms. At that moment, Eshmerrik had to admit to himself that he would probably never stand a chance against both together.

Sunday Love: I can’t believe you did this

@sunday-romance what an awesome prompt. I almost wrote smut, just almost So this is just heading to smut *eye wiggle*

Nesryn just longed for a long bath and a quiet day. The last days had been exhausting and a rest was urgently needed. As soon as she unlocked the front door, she heard the water rushing in the bathroom. A smile spread across her face. She knew Lorkin had been on morning duty and probably had the same thought. Shadow and Nyx came to greet her and led her straight to their bowls. Nesryn just shook her head when she saw the cats had already been fed. "Eat up first, divas." Laughing, she went up to the bathroom. The smell of bath oil was already floating towards her. Music was playing in the bedroom. A look over at the door told her that, contrary to her habit, the door had been closed. She took off her coat and keys before she went into the bathroom. What she saw there was something she had not expected. Lorkin sat on the stool she usually used to put everything down there, from teacup to book, before she got into the tub, wearing only underwear. The bathroom was decorated with candles, some of which were certainly scented candles, as strong as the scent of roses hanging in the air. There was also something mixed in that she thought was vanilla. "I can't believe you did that," Nesryn was amazed. "Do you mean the improvised wellness packages at home? Well, I had a little help from Pashyn and Nardik. But now come here and enjoy it." She looked at him skeptically as she slipped out of her shoes. "Why do I get the feeling you want to take a bath with me?" "Because that was the plan." "But declare myself crazy when I got so excited about the extra-large tub." To her surprise, he blushed a little. "I didn't see the point then." "You mean apart from the fact that I can really lay myself out in it?" "I knew you'd want all the space to yourself." "Of course..." Nesryn grinned at him cheekily. It should have surprised her that he used it to get into the tub in front of her, but it did not. After all these years she knew Lorkin well enough. Rolling her eyes, she followed him. The water was hotter than expected, or she had become colder on the way home than expected. Carefully he put his arms around her and slowly pulled her back. "You should relax." "Why do I have the feeling that this is just foreplay?" "Because you are a dirty-minded woman?", Lorkin threw back, the laughter in his voice clearly audible. "Says the man who made a big fuss here. Besides, the bedroom door is closed and that only makes sense if the cats are not supposed to destroy something." The grumbling was hardly audible but still there. "You think too much. It's hard to surprise you." "You surprised me with everything here. The rest was easy to guess." As punishment, Lorkin let water run over her head. "We have to get those dirty thoughts out of your head." It was a fake threat and Nesryn bit her lip not to laugh. "And then what?" "Let's fill it with new ideas." Something about the way he said it, bending his head so far that his mouth was against her ear, sent a shiver down her spine in joyful anticipation. "I am curious."

Sunday Love: “I hate you”

Ok, the moment I read the prompt I was like “Oh, that sounds like my two favorite dorks Nesryn and Lorkin.” So here we are @sunday-romance​. It takes place somewhere around the middle of the book right after these dorks managed to finally admit they are a couple and in love. 

Nesryn lay flat on her back in the oversized bed of her room in the Silent Oasis and breathed heavily. "I hate you." Lorkin next to her just giggled and rolled over on his side. "Well this says something different", he pulled himself up and made a circle with his index finger that enclosed the whole room. The clothes of both were scattered everywhere and the furniture was a mess. "You know what I mean." She also moved on her side with her face to him. "Enlighten me." "We have a damn lousy timing." Again he giggled to himself. "Don't we always?" "But this is the wrong time." Nesryn closed her eyes and sighed. "You little moron, it's never the right time." "Still, I mean: How long have we known each other now?" Lorkin's eyes rolled up. "Five years, seven months and don't ask me about the weeks, I'm not sure exactly."

It made Nesryn laugh. Slowly she opened her eyes again and looked at him seriously. "You could have told me differently, that it took us forever to admit that we were together. Even though I hate that the others are right." Carefully Lorkin put his arm over her waist and pulled her closer. "Moron, these more than five years were packed too. First you wanted to go back to your world. Then you ran away." She growled as he reminded her. "Then you spontaneously decided to stay after all, apart from the fact that in the first year your magic broke through, you fought a corrupt councilman and almost turned Alashtaire into lizard stew. "He deserved it for lying." "I know," sighed Lorkin. His breath stroked over her bare shoulder. "And it was only the first year..." "That's exactly what I mean," Lorkin groaned distressed, "After that you were busy carving out a place for yourself in Thorkglesh, you had to learn what it means to be an ambassador..." "Then Nardik and Eshmerrik adopted Nadishi," Nesryn giggled. "And you've been fully absorbed in your position as an aunt." He nudged her nose. Nesryn pulled her head away with a grin. "Oh, and what about Uncle Lorkin? You overgrown teddy bear." "But she's a cute cuddly monster, too." For a moment there was a pleasant silence between them. Like mesmerized Nesryn looked into the fireplace, which was right opposite them in the room. "Everything okay?", Lorkin inquired anxiously. "I was just thinking of a saying." "What was it?" "Life is what happens while you make plans." "A very wise phrase," he confirmed and leaned forward to kiss her. "I think I only started living here in Thorkglesh." "And let your walls fall. So much has happened, too. You have learned to defend yourself, Goshki's trial, the attacks on the dragons..." "Your dreams that never have been ones in the first place," she threw in unexpectedly. Lorkin sharply drew in the air. The way he did it told Nesryn that there was more to it than he had told her, but she didn't want to pursue the subject any further now. "I know, you also know, that something is coming, that we cannot yet foresee." Nesryn put her arm around his shoulder and slid so close that their noses touched. "We can do this. I don't know how, but we can do it. We have to do it somehow." "And then you'll have to meet my parents," Lorkin grinned cheekily at her. She rolled her eyes, which was accompanied by a tortured grunt. "You know I am not the kind of woman you introduce to your parents. Especially not in your position." From Lorkin’s crooked grin she could see that he understood what she meant. "You cute little bullheaded moron." "Hey!" "Well, let me finish. I know you think my family is desperate to continue the bloodline, but I have so many siblings and cousins, I don't matter. Besides, as Uncle Lorkin, I think I'm better than a father." Nesryn snuggled closer to him. She felt more than she saw, how he stretched his head back. "What's wrong, moron?" "I had hoped that the magic in me would balance everything so that with Marika's help..." "Is that why you've been holding out on us being a couple for so long?" She just nodded slowly. "Neshryn...", he pushed her head up a little, so they could look at each other, "We are a family even without children. And when all this is over and you still want children with me donkey, we still have the option to adopt. Have you forgotten that?" Embarrassed, she looked to the side. "You really have forgotten that," Lorkin laughed and pulled her to his side. "In my world, it's not as easy as it is here. I keep forgetting that" she complained half-heartedly. "Something like you really only exists once." "The same goes for you, idiot." "Are you all right?" Lorkin looked at her insistently. For the first time in a long time she really felt that everything was okay, or at least would be. "Yeah", she smiled. A little calmer now she snuggled up as close to him as she could. His heartbeat at her ear put her into a light sleep.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! Which of your characters has the whump/tragic Backstory that you're most proud of writing?

Hi justahufflepuffnerd,  it took me a second to come to a decision.  My first instinct was Nesryn, because she is the MC.  The real one is actually Nardik.  The world of Mitresk puts a lot of meaning into family and how big your family is, determines your social status to a certain degree. Nardik is a single child of a single mom. It is only those two. No siblings, no aunts or uncles. He doesn’t even know if he has living relatives somewhere.  This made him an outcast automatically, but he didn’t give up. He is lucky to have magic, which made him rise up in social ranks, and he worked his ass off to become the personal assistant/ambassador of the Highest Dragon and therefore the most powerful human in the city-state.  I mean just imagine how much spite it took him to get there. At a certain point, his no husband Eshmerrik helped him and was always by his side but their marriage caused Eshmerriks family to turn away from him for marrying a “family-free” person. This status also kept them from adopting until Irideska, the future Highest Dragon and former mentor of Nardik, used her powers to make it happen.

Hi @catharticallysarcastic, I am a bit surprised because I gave up meet and greet Monday some time ago since I switch so much through my WIPs.

So this is a question for Nardik, he has this habit to annoy people.  Nardik: Well, if you would ask everyone around me all of them would say I annoy them. Alashtaire is fed up with me sometimes because I love to sneak up on him and figure out most of the stuff he likes to keep a secret. It was weird after we both realized what the other one did all the time.  But I love to annoy Thurash. We have been friends since we were 16 and met on one of these travel opportunities most of the teenagers do after school. Since we grew up on different parts of Thorkglesh we went to different schools. During this journey together we realized we had similar interests and share the same humor. Once we were back, we requested to be put in the same shared living house (you know the ones were all the teenagers gather during their 2 years of freedom to be away from home) One thing I learned fast was the fact he always got deep red when we would discuss sex. And hey, don’t tell me it is not funny to see the head of the magic guard turn beet red at the mention of sex. I have no idea what it is this way, he never managed to explain, but it is funny like nothing else in the world. Oh, and Nesryn. Annoying  Nesryn is always fun because 1. she looses her temper fast and 2. I know she will get back on me first chance available. It is like a back and forth of going on each other's nerves.

Happy STS from writingamongthecoloredroses! What would a modern/no magic AU of your WIP be like?

Hi @writingamongthecoloredroses, thanks for the ask. The funny thing is, I somehow write a modern AU for my WIP right now.  But without the magic only little would change with the WIP. Thurash and Lorkin would still be guards. Alashtaire and Irideska would be the “rulers” and Kinarrah would have a better relationship with her family but the rest would stay the same.  And for the AU: It is all @madmoonink fault who came up with the ask who would be a drug lord of our characters and I got the idea of Irideska, Nardik and Lorkin running a drug syndicate together and from there it went downhill.

Summary

Nesryn’s life was average like hell. Her mind was only on her job, the artificial dramas her best friend created and the regular visits at the cat café. It all changed the evening she went home from a workday with overtime and took a shortcut through the city park. Suddenly she finds herself in the city-state Thorkglesh in Mitresk, a world full of magic where humans got taught magic by dragons for thousands of years. The first friendly face she meets is Nardik, the ambassador of Thorkglesh and personal assistant of the highest dragon, who takes her to the magic academy which is overseen by the highest dragon Alashtaire. Now Nesryn has not only to deal with settling into a new world but also to figure out how she ended up in Mitresk in the first place and how she would get back home. Armed with optimism and her carry on sized purse full of useful items Nesryn thinks she can handle this but nothing is as it seems and settling in a completely different world is more work than she thought. Especially if you managed to cause a political uproar and suddenly gain magic powers yourself. In the end, she has to face the ultimate question: Where is her home?

The Characters

Nesryn, the heroine, who wants to be meticulously prepared for everything and only has the friends she made during school. Her independence is incredibly important to her, and she usually keeps people at an arm's length away from her

Nardik, the ambassador and assistant with his own set of morals and ethic codex. He thinks it is entertaining to watch Nesryn find her path in this world and kinda becomes like an overprotective brother.

Alashtaire, the highest dragon, and principal at the magic academy who can be philosophical but has a tendency to think too much and act not when he needs to. The safety of everyone is his highest priority, sadly this leads to many secrets not everyone is fond of.

Thurash, the guardian, who got ordered to watch over Nesryn to help her settle in. Actually, he is the captain of the magic guards of the academy and a gentle person. He would do everything to help if someone is in dire need or danger. He is Nardik’s best friend and sometimes the voice of reason.

Pashyn, the female merchant, who fights gender stereotypes with a sharp tongue and eloquence and learned to fight with a sword. This is one of the reasons Thurash is in love with her. She wants to prove that women are as good as men and can lead a business. As a friend, she is always there to help you out with her connections and knowledge of the city

Kinarrah, the magic student who can be clumsy but is highly motivated and always fired up to learn more. She shares the apartment with Nesryn and wants to be friends with everyone. Her friendship is worth her weight in gold, and she is loyal even when she is scared. She becomes a little sister to Nesryn.

Eshmerrik, the highest healer of the academy who has his nose either in books or in patient records. He is the husband of Nardik and has a hate/love relationship with Nardik’s journeys. He is a calm person who lives for his work. The only thing that can make him angry is when Nardik messes something up about their relationship.

Irideska, the renegade dragon, nice of Alashtaire and mentor of Nardik. She hates some rules of the dragons and often does what she likes. She thinks humans should be allowed to grow without the dragon controlling everything. This leads her to be part of a rebellious group inside the dragons.

Lorkin: the 2nd in command of Thurash, he appears to be a player and a flirt but actually he is just a very casual person, he is loyal but often questions the actions of the higher-ups. He is the person you can trust blindly.

Hi @rhikasa, sorry for answering the ask now. Tumblr didn’t tell me there is one  Oh, the most recent development got Kinarrah.  She turned from this shy girl who had to start magic academy right after school instead of getting her two years of freedom Mitreskian teenagers usually get, because her magic is so strong she needed to learn how to control it as fast as possible. Sadly, her strong magic made her an outcast because her family cast her out and at the academy, she is two years younger than her peers. She already warmed up to Nesryn and kinda became a little sister to her in the first book but in the sequel, she turned into this slightly sassy, highly annoyed by Nardik’s antics, talking back, and a self-sure young woman who trains to become a network technician, which is one of the most important jobs in this world. When Nesryn met Kinarrah, no one would have thought the girl had it in her to become tough enough for this kind of job.  She also figured out she is asexual and found a boyfriend who is also asexual (and happens to be the big brother of her friend Pashyn). Kinarrah also learns how to be stern and strict because her job will put her in the line of the important people of Thorkglesh. One of the things everyone around her is really proud of is the fact she came out of her shell enough to become Winter Light’s queen in her last year of magic academy and managed to find friends her age.

Moodboard “Always Prepared” AU “Drugs of Love”

a modern AU where Lorkin, Nardik and Irideska run an import/export company to cover up their drug business and Nesryn is the new secretary of Lorkin. 

It is going to be the darkest shade of purple prose with the cheesiest clichés and most cliché tropes of the romance novel genre I can muster. Or in other words: It is going to be that kind of romance story I hate to the bone and it will be a parody thanks to Nesryn’s sass, sarcasm and cynicism.  If you are interested in the most hilarious and stupid AU I probably ever wrote so far leave a comment, so I can add you on the tag list.  I know you are already interested @madmoonink​

Happy STS! Could you describe your plot from the perspective of a side character who isn’t a villain/antagonist?

Hi adie-dee , thanks for the ask. The best angle would be Nardik since he is the first one who meets Nesryn.  So here we go. He was just on his way back home from an ambassador job when Nardik met Nesryn, who happened to be from an alternative plane, and now he is stuck with her stubborn ass and has to help her get back home only to watch her getting comfortable at Thorkglesh and befriending her along the quest to figure out what happened and how his boss, the highest dragon Alashtaire, is involved in all of this.

STS time! :D Imagine you've got like a huge fandom-- how would your characters respond to finding out they had tons of fans? How would they react to learning that fanfic existed about them? Who do you think would be shipped together? Who wouldn't you want shipped together?

Hi merigreenleaf, oh what an ask!  Let’s start with ships.  The canon ships are  Pashyn and Thurash Nardik and Eshmerrik Nesryn and Lorkin  Kinarrah and Eskol (Pashyns older brother)  There were moments even I was tempted to go Nesryn and Irideska because both have a connection right from the start and I wouldn’t be surprised if this would be the major femslash couple.  I guess Thurash and Lorkin would be another slash couple. Their friendship is pretty deep and I have been in fandoms long enough to know people will read it as gay coded especially once their get that Lorkin is genderfluid and pansexual. I don’t want to see any romantic ships involving Kinarrah because  1. she is a minor when everything starts and would come of age at the end of book 1 2. she is an asexual young woman and since fandoms love romantic ships just to write smut as much as possible (I have been like that myself in my young years)  I also don’t want to see any ships involving Alashtair because he is a fucking old dragon, the mentor/guide to all of them and most of all suffers from the dragon version of dementia.  Now about how they would react: Nesryn would laugh her ass off. She is from our world and knows those things exist. She would dive in headfirst into the deepest corners of fanfics.  Thurash, Eshmerrik and Kinarrah would be so damn embarassed but only Kinarrah would dare to take a look. Nardik will use it to make fun of the others. It’s Nardik, you can’t expect any other reaction.  Lorkin will become an avid fanfic reader.  Irideska will start to writer her own fanfics, just because she can and it will annoy the others.  Pashyn would even try to “sell” them in their world to spread the word. And with selling, she means making flyers and plaster the whole damn town with it. And for the fan thing: You can bet on Lorkin getting a little bit cocky about it while the others are just in awe.

Happy STS! What's a favorite drink for your characters during warm weather?

Hi Jaimi, thanks for the ask!  Nesryn goes with everything that is served with ice and has some taste to it.  Lorkin is all in for homemade lemonade  Thurash is more the purist with water but doesn’t say no to some cold cider at the end of his shift.  Pashyn and Kinarrah are for juice, preferable some cold apple juice.  Irideska loves ice tea and managed to make Nardik love it as well.  And Eshmerrik happens to let his drinks sit for a long time, so he deals with everything that doesn’t taste made when it gets the temperature of the surrounding.

Hi @writingamongthecoloredroses, oh I love those kind of asks Well, Nesryn always loved blue, that’s why she dyed her hair blue.  Lorkin loved red as a child but when he learned he is a fire mage he felt it was too cliche and changed to deep orange and gold. Nardik goes with a vibrant yellow if he can Pashyn loves purple hues  Eshmerrik changes between green and light blue every few years  Irideska can’t decide and ranges through the whole rainbow whenever she feels like it.  Thurash is more practical with earth tones  Kinarrah loves silver and pink.
