Flash Fic Friday: Found Family
Since I am in editing/re-writing mode and have 2 WIPS at the same time (yes, I am crazy) I used today's prompt from @flashfictionfridayofficial to add a little scene for "Always Prepared" since I decided to do multiple POVs instead of single POV
Here we are.
No warnings. Just shenanigans between 3 friends who became like brothers.
Evening Conversation
It had become a rarity that they found time to sit together and just let the day end after work. A cheeky grin slowly settled on Nardik's face as he saw the pained look on Thurash's face and heard the cheerful whistle of Lorkin. The likelihood that their otherworldly guest Nesryn was to blame was high. Why she and Lorkin clashed so much was a mystery even to him, but that would be found out eventually. After all, it had only been a few weeks, and Nardik couldn't imagine how big the shock must still be to have landed in another world. "Is Eshmerrik on duty tonight?" asked Thurash as he fell heavily onto the chair opposite him. "No, Esh isn't on duty again until tomorrow morning. Are you planning to get drunk?" Instead of answering, Thurash raised his head in search of the attendant. Nardik looked to Lorkin. "What did you do?" "Me, nothing. Neshryn on the other hand…" "I correct, what did you two do?"
"That good-for-nothing adjutant didn't stop her when she took out her frustrations on a shapeshifting dragon and almost ended up in prison for treason." Thurash rubbed his face, followed by a sideways glance at Lorkin, who was innocence personified. Nardik started laughing and took a sip of ale, shaking his head. "What was she upset about this time?" "I think she's just always in a bad mood in general and loves to take it out on others, and for a change it wasn't me this time." Almost simultaneously, Nardik and Thurash began massaging the bridge of their noses. Lorkin spent the least amount of time with Nesryn, but when he did, it always led to some sort of incident and as much as he liked Lorkin, and he knew Thurash felt the same way, he wanted to slap him for it right now. "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were trying to kill her," Thurash muttered. "Or to get her into bed," Nardik added. "Anyway, I can't pull the same trick you did with Esh that time," Lorkin just grinned.
As unobtrusively conspicuous as he began to check his hair, looking past Thurash, Nardik could only follow the gaze. At the other end of the room stood a waitress who resembled Nesryn in stature and size, except for the fact that no one knew Nesryn's natural hair color among the blue dyed hair and the waitress was clearly a light brunette. His gaze went back to Lorkin. Out of the corner of his eye, Nardik noticed that Thurash had seen it too and was looking at his right hand and best friend. After almost twenty years of knowing each other, the way Lorkin said nothing was enough of words. "Kasht help us…" groaned Thurash. At that very moment, he stood up and went to the counter. Laughing at the impatience, Lorkin and Nardik waited until he was out of earshot, then Nardik leaned forward a little. "Be honest, you find her interesting." "Who?", Lorkin feigned ignorance. It took perhaps two breaths of Nardik giving him a knowing look before Lorkin relented. "All right, then. Yes, something about Neshryn is…I can't put it into words. How did you know?" Enjoying Lorkin's caught expression, Nardik leaned back with a smug grin and took his tankard. "You are a playful womanizer as much as I am a scheming puppeteer." "Very nicely put for we're just pretending," Lorkin laughed and was now the one leaning forward, "But why do I get the feeling there's more?" A shrug was the answer, but Lorkin's eyes continued to be on him with a probing gaze. "Even though I'm sure she sometimes wants to throw me off the walls of the academy as much as she wants to throw you off, I have a strange sense of connection with her. Much like with you and Thurash." Silently, Lorkin nodded. Nardik had last seen this taciturn nature in his friend when his mother had tried to set him up for the sake of the family name. Even the low volume of the tavern seemed far too loud at that moment as they both indulged their thoughts.
"Good thing I brought a tankard for you right away," Thurash commented, setting a tankard of mead down in front of Lorkin. Thurash's gaze went back and forth between the two. The frown already announced what he was about to ask. "Everything is fine, Lorkin is just having a thoughtful evening tonight." Nardik's wink escaped none of the others and caused a tortured groan. "Let's wait and see what comes out of this. There's a 50 percent chance that some nonsense will come out of it," Thurash teased him. "Says the man who hasn't been able to talk sensibly to Pashyn for a year." While Lorkin tossed the ball back to Thurash, Nardik pulled out his phone and began writing a message to his husband. "This is something completely different!" "Oh, is it? That's quite a shame that the captain of the magical guard can't manage to talk to a woman." Nardik chuckled quietly to himself as he warned Eshmerrik that he would be home late, because once again Thurash's love life was up for debate. As soon as the message was sent, Nardik rubbed his hands together. "All right, then. Let's start looking at this productively. What hasn't Thurash tried yet?"

Treat from my ask game for Always Prepared 🧡🖤🧡
Hey CJ, I needed to check in first what the modus operandi is from yours 😅
You get my new favorite moment from Always Prepared that actually Wynne and my best friend forced me to write and not just mention it with a throwaway line.
For better understanding. Nesryn ended up by accident in a different world where dragons and humans live peacefully together. Magic exists, and humans and dragons have different kinds of magic. After she and a newfound friend got attacked by some sleazy city counsel man during a festival, it showed that Nesryn got some magic as well and now her friends have to teach her how to use it. Or more, first find out what flavor of earth magic she has.
That's where Irideska comes in, the female dragon, niece of the Highest Dragon, and known to have unique teaching methods (which is why she isn't allowed to teach anymore) The last one who suffered under it was Nardik, ambassador of the city-state Thorkglesh and one of the close friends of Nesryn.
More under the cut
Unconcerned, Nardik stood with Lorkin at the base of the wall. At the top, Irideska and Nesryn stood, trying to test whether Nesryn could do gravitational magic. "She's not going to throw her down, is she?" asked Lorkin anxiously. They both looked up, where the two women stood perilously close to the edge of the wall. "I wouldn't bet on it," Nardik admitted. "I'm beginning to understand why Irideska isn't allowed to teach anymore."
The memory of Irideska throwing him off the wall that time to see if he was able to create a shield came up in Nardik. "Nardik?" "What?" "What was that noise just now?" With a frown, Nardik turned away from the sight above him for a moment and looked at Lorkin. "What sound?" "That thoughtful, skeptical huff." "Nothing important," Nardik chuckled.
His gaze went back up to where Nesryn was clearly discussing something with Irideska. "What are you two doing here?" asked Thurash behind them. "Gravity lessons for Neshryn," Lorkin replied with an upward nod. A thoughtful snort accompanied Thurash as he stood beside Nardik and looked up as well. "Irideska has learned from last time, I hope," he said. "You forget she has a sadistic streak," Nardik reminded him. "One of the reasons those two like each other," Lorkin added. The discussion on the wall grew more heated, leading Irideska to show herself in her dragon form. "Oh no…"
No sooner had Nardik spoken than Irideska had thrown Nesryn over the wall. "Irideska are you mad?" roared Thurash across the courtyard. Nardik could just react in time and call the water from the horses' trough to use it as a cushion for Nesryn. He only partly noticed how Lorkin was already calling the hospital. Somehow, Nardik managed to fill up the little water with the moisture of the air and create a kind of chute for Nesryn, so she landed in the bushes. Still, it was a hard landing. Thurash was already running for the spot while Nardik was moving the water back into the trough and Lorkin was still talking to the hospital.
"Fucking hell, Irideska, I'll kill you for this. You're going to be fucking dragon ragout, I don't care if it's treason. Have you gone completely insane?" Nesryn's rant made all three men exhale in relief. As long as she could rant, she was fine. "You're alive after all," Irideska laughed from the wall in safety, "Anyway, now we know for sure that you can't do gravitational magic." Pressing her lips together, Nesryn sparkled at Irideska, then looked at Nardik. "Anyone has a recipe for dragon goulash?"

Flash Fic Friday: By Candlelight
Here we are @flashfictionfridayofficial with some silly little thing that belongs into the "Always Prepared" universe, but can stand in its own I hope.
Tumblr media
Amused, Nesryn looked around. It was only a year ago that she had celebrated the first Festival of Lights in Thorkglesh after being stranded here, and now she had her own little house, two fluffy little shadows just making themselves at home on Kinarrah and Lorkin and was in the midst of preparing dishes from her world for this year's Festival of Lights as promised.
"So actually, you two are supposed to be helping me, not being the cats' sleeping arrangements," Nesryn laughed at the sight.
Kinarrah yawned heartily. Beside her, Lorkin didn't even pretend to think about helping. Instead, he nuzzled Nyx's neck with pleasure, as he did almost every time he was there.
"I'm afraid your cats have adopted us," Kinarrah chuckled.
"I get it, the dreaded cat paralysis."
"You are smart sometimes, moron," Lorkin interjected.
"But one of you better get out of paralysis, because otherwise, first, we won't have anything to eat tomorrow, and second, I'll still be cutting ingredients by candlelight tomorrow, and do you really want that?"
Lorkin's agonized groan was enough of an answer. The minor cooking accident caused by the power outage a few weeks earlier thanks to the unusually violent storm was apparently still clearly in his memory.
"Why do you even make such a deal about it? We never got that big even at my family."
Nesryn sighed and vigorously blew a strand of hair out of her face.
"Because certain people coerced me after I made the mistake earlier this year of introducing you all to the delicacies that are usually available in my dimension at this time of year."
"I don't know what you mean."
He continued to focus on nuzzling Nyx.
"I thought that was you and Pashyn already down on your knees begging Neshryn to host the Festival of Lights this year? Especially since Nardik and Eshmerrik have enough to deal with Nadishi," Kinarrah commented with another yawn.
"Traitor."
"Lazybones."
She stuck her tongue out at him, which made Nesryn laugh.
"Well come on you two cat crazies. If all three of us get busy, everything we need to do today should be done in two hours and you get to snack before the others."
At the word snacking, both cats meowed in a staggered manner, as if they thought there were treats. Shaking her head, Nesryn headed for the kitchen before wasting any more time arguing. Next year she would force Pashyn to help her.
She had just washed the vegetables and got out the knives when she felt warmth behind her. A smirk played around the corners of her mouth.
"Are you so fired up about tasty food that you're already giving off heat, Lorkin?"
"You know I'm a hot one," he joked, taking one of the knives from her, "So, how would you like those vegetables massacred?"
"Small cubes will do, you don't have to massacre it."
"That's what I'm here for. I'm going to go into the new year with cuts," Kinarrah lamented as she joined in.
"That's the price of delicious food, sweetie. Next year I'll force someone else, I promise."
Lorkin unexpectedly started laughing.
"If you force Thurash, I want to see that, ordering him around the kitchen."
"Idiot," Nesryn laughed.
On the other hand, the image of that mountain of a man standing helplessly in her kitchen waiting for instructions was funny, she had to hand it to Lorkin.

Trick or Treat!!
(Event Post)
Hey ashen-crest, I hope your editing adventures went well and you are happy with the result.
You get a treat from my last edits on "Always Prepared" one of the scenes I loved from the moment I wrote it. Especially because Nesryn and Lorkin just won't admit they are into each other, most of all Nesryn.
The evening dragged on into the early hours of the night with dancing, stories, more show interludes from the other groups of magicians, and most importantly, lots of alcohol. It was just after midnight and even the dragons were drunk and telling epic stories of their youth, and epic was definitely the right word for some stories. It was the perfect time for Nesryn to finally go through with the plan. She had drunk only a small amount of alcohol, so she would still be in her right mind when she finally broke into Alashtaire's office. With a quick nod to Nardik, she headed out into the hallway. The way to the office she found even in the twilight of the candles, which didn't seem to be burning down. As Nesryn climbed the last flight of stairs, she heard footsteps coming from two directions. In front of her, it clearly had to be the guard who had the misfortune of being on duty today. She was more concerned about the footsteps behind her. They didn't have the metallic sound of the guards' shoes, so someone from the hall must have followed her.
Ears pricked, she stepped up the last few steps. The guard was just inside one of the hallways that led off the main hallway and ran in circles around the office. As quickly and quietly as she could, she scurried to the office door. Thanks to her many visits to Alashtaire, she knew which spot made a noise and where she could step without danger. Inwardly she wondered if it looked like a dance to an observer or if they would just think she was drunk. Distracted by her stream of thoughts, she didn't hear the footsteps behind her speed up. The moment she remembered that, she was grabbed by the upper arm. "What are you doing here, stubborn?" Still dressed in the clothing of the fire artists, Lorkin stood behind her. His expression was a mixture of doubt about her sanity and curiosity. "Let me go." "Not until you tell me what you're doing here." With a jerk, she freed her arm and glared at him. "I'm sure you know." "All I know is that you stubborn one and Nardik are up to something." The guard's footsteps came closer again. The heads of both of them shot in the direction from which the footsteps came. "That's not your problem." Nesryn marched the last few steps to the office door and tried to open it quietly, but the door remained locked.
"Did you think he was going to leave the door open?" laughed Lorkin just a foot behind her. "No, I didn't. But you never know." She grinned confidently and whipped out a spare key from a hidden pocket in her sleeve. The guard's footsteps came closer and closer. Before she could react, he had turned her around and backed her into the office door. "Don't flatter yourself on that." "Wha…" Her question was interrupted by his kiss. She could still taste the honey from the soaked cake on him. His hands settled on her hips and she could feel his left hand slide further to the keyhole. The guard stood behind them, clearing his throat in embarrassment. Lorkin turned with what was probably the best display of a drunk she had ever seen and grinned at the young man. "It's all good, cadet. Just keep making your rounds." "Lorkin, sir, I beg your pardon." Bright red, the guard turned on the spot and did his best not to let on how embarrassing this was. At the same moment, Lorkin had turned back to Nesryn and kissed her again.
For a moment, she was tempted to just ram her knee into his soft parts, but she also knew that he had just saved her ass and continued to provide cover. When the click of the lock was heard, she sighed with relief. Immediately after, the door swung open backwards. Thus, Nesryn fell away to the back. In her surprise, she grabbed Lorkin's arms and unfortunately pulled him with her. They ended up at the entrance of the office, still kissing. From the sound of clashing metal, they could guess that the guard had turned around once more when he heard the impact. Lorkin put his arms around her and rolled to the side with her so that he could close the door again with his foot. Still lying on top of him, Nesryn braced herself a little. Even though she tried to give him a dirty look, she was only half-successful. Part of her was busy talking herself out of kissing Lorkin back. "Thanks." "You're a real lousy kisser, stubborn." "Oh really." "Really." He smirked, but she could tell from the fiercely pulsing vein on his neck that none of this had left him unaffected. With a mischievous grin, she dropped back and kissed him. Instinctively, he put his arms around her again and pulled her closer.

Trick or Treat!
Hi artsietango,
since it's Halloween and I am in a good mood, you get a treat from "Always Prepared".
This takes place after Nesryn, the main character, got her magic in an emergency situation since magic is connected to one's emotions, after being in a different world for more than half a year. Nardik is the one who found her and became a good friend, and Lorkin is one of the two magic guards who were her bodyguards in the beginning and who caught some feelings for her.
Two days later, Nardik sat by Nesryn's bedside and kept watch, even though Eshmerrik said it wasn't necessary. Part of him felt guilty that all this had happened to her, even though he knew it wasn't his fault she had ended up here. The healers said she should be awake later in the day, after being sedated for the first twenty-four hours of sleep to allow the body to recover. Still, Nesryn looked sallow and so strangely fragile, which to Nardik was so unlike the skeptical, quick-tempered and stubborn woman they had all come to know. There was a knock at the door. Lorkin's dark red mop of hair peered cautiously around the corner, as if expecting Nesryn to be awake and throw him off with her magic. Inevitably, it brought a smirk to Nardik's face. "Come in, she's still asleep." The relief on Lorkin's face finally made Nardik laugh. "Not funny. You didn't hear Pashyn's full report. Neshryn's going to get crazy strong once she gets it under control, and I don't want to know what else she can do." "Be honest, that's what you want." A wide grin stole its way onto Lorkin's face. "All right, I want to know. Thurash and I are already betting what general magic she has. Want to get in on it?"
"My guess is energy," Nardik spoke up after a moment of thought. "Interesting, Thurash meant the same thing." "You don't?" Energetically, Lorkin shook his head and looked down at Nesryn. "Something tells me she's a telepath." "You're just saying that because you'd get a kick out of seeing Thurash train her." "It would be the same with energy," Lorkin reminded with a grin. Shaking his head, Nardik looked at Nesryn and wondered how the whole mess could have come about. "If Alashtaire hadn't given her that stupid assignment, Esh and Marilka would have understood what was going on faster." Lorkin walked around the bed and put a hand on Nardik's shoulder. "I know. I don't know why that stubborn woman is working for the old dragon." "You warned her?" Questioningly, Nardik looked up and got a nod in response. Snorting, Nardik laughed. "She's too much like us."
"I know. That stubborn girl thinks along the same lines as you above all." "That explains why you two fight so much." They both laughed as they thought back to their first year at the academy. "The teachers must have hated us as much as we fought," Nardik mused aloud. "I think so too, and look at us today. A front against the rest of the world." With an amused snort, Nardik acknowledged the comment. Lorkin leaned down to Nesryn and pushed a strand of hair aside in a rare display of care. The gush of warmth he exuded as he did so did not escape Nardik's notice. "You know she'll eventually figure out what the warmth is all about once she gets trained?" "I know, and I'll have to live with it." "You can come clean with her." The doubtful laugh resembled a grunt at Lorkin, and the silent question of whether Nardik had lost his mind resonated in the look. "We both know where this is going to end." "You're just as bad as Thurash, you know that?" "Ouch, that was unfair." "But true."

Happy Storyteller Saturday!
What would it take for one (or more) of the good guys in your story to turn into a villain? Which of their good traits would turn bad if they were pushed too far? What sort of villain would they be, with what goal?
Happy STS sam-glade,
phew, this can be a long list
Always Prepared
Nardik already is pretty dubious with all his information gathering and keeping people's secrets, he knows where to find those things and how to use it. I originally planned him as some sort of antagonist, but I loved his interactions with the MC Nesryn too much and toned things down. I think he can become one of those people who bind people to him with digging up their dirtiest and darkest secrets to get his way as villain. His goal? To be the one in charge so no one can stop him from getting what he wants just because of his upbringing.
Nesryn might be interesting if she turns evil as well. She is generally a person who likes to be prepared, even if she isn't that well planned on a day-to-day basis. Could become an issue for the heroes lol Her goal? Nothing less than changing the world to her liking.
Blood Night /Cursed Blood Series
Yeah, my merry bunch of heroes who all could turn villain if you look away
Arritit is most likely to become a villain solely because her undying thirst for knowledge lets her do questionable things already, and she is one more powerful mages on the continent, which means only a few people would be able to fight her. She knows how to seduce, to win people over and lure with promises when needed, using all her female charm to get her ways. In every literal way, she is a magical vixen, and it just needs one wrong impulse in the end to send her the wrong way. Her goal? Nothing. Just have fun and cause chaos, do what she likes without paying the price.
Sojan, ah, the big teddy bear, that is a different story. He is loyal, a fighter with a big heart, deep emotions, since he is a demon also with some magic but doesn't trust himself with it, fights to protect. He will be the classic "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" villain because he won't realize he became the villain at some point, solely doing what he has to do in order to protect his kin and survive. Maybe that makes him even more dangerous than his sister Arritit.
Lyran... honestly, the only reason he isn't a villain already, is because he chose the good things every day. His whole childhood and teenager years are the perfect villain backstory. He knows how to fight, as a wild mix of elf, human, memory demon and melody demon he can manipulate people with his voice (even if he doesn't know it at the beginning of the story and learns it years later). He can do basically the whole Jedi "These aren't the driods you are looking for" bullshit if he wants to. there is a lot of anger against royalty in him, against men in power, a sense to protect those who are overlooked by society. Yet, he is a simple bard who later becomes a monster hunter (officially to be able to defend himself when he travels with Sojan but everyone knows there is also a different reason) If he snaps, he will go in for everything. Your typical megalomaniac villain who wants to rule the world.

Happy STS!
They say you can't pick a favorite child, but how about your fav OC? Who is it and why?
Happy STS bee-barnes-author,
hahah whoever said that never saw me writing. I clearly have favs among my WIPs.
For the Cursed Blood Series it's Lyran, Arritit, and Ylva. But mostly Lyran, the little chaos gremlin of a danger seeking bard. It is fun to write him with his many facettes and to think about how would he react now because it can vary depending on what happened before.
For Always Prepared it is Nardik and Lorkin, but a bit more Lorkin because he loves to annoy the MC Nesryn in this amusing way.
In Sea of Memories, Sea of Chances I love Becca more. Maybe it is because she is a redhead lol No but seriously, Becca has this heart of gold and is the right mix of being feminine but also tough when necessary in my opinion.

Have the last lines I edited for "Always Prepared"
"I'll leave you two alone from here, though," Nardik commented on the moment and disappeared surprisingly quickly. "He wants me to throw something at him, doesn't he?" inquired Nesryn, taking a step toward the door. In doing so, however, she miscalculated Lorkin's position and ran right into him. A gush of heat came at her again, which she only half noticed because she was mentally trailing behind. "Are you going to throw me?" joked Lorkin, providing her with an additional hold with his other arm. With narrowed eyes, she stared at him. "Now you're going to start that temperature nonsense again?" "Special treatment so your muscles don't get stiff." "You better watch out for something else not getting stiff." She stuck out her tongue and broke away from him. Behind her, the two dragons giggled. I tag @tabswrites @ashen-crest @sam-glade @weaver-of-fantasies-and-fables

Sunday Love: You’re driving me crazy
@sunday-romance This yelled my gay disaster power couple Nardik and Eshmerrik. And what is best to drive someone crazy in a child-friendly way than having kids? So, here we are with a little snippet of how they are as dads.
Tumblr media
Eshmerrik did not know whether to be angry or shake his head and laugh. There he sat with the patient files and got the news that Nadishi had been taken out of the day care center early. Somehow, he could understand Nardik, but he also had to learn that he could not have Nadishi around him all the time. When he reached the office, he could already hear his daughter's laughter from outside. Eyebrows up to the hairline he opened the door and stopped at the threshold. Nesryn sat on the floor in front of him and held Nadishi while she rode on Irideska's back. The whole thing was made even more absurd by the fact that Irideska had taken her hated dragon form and buckled like a wild horse. Nardik was sitting at the desk, and he laughed at all this. "By Kasht, you drive me crazy," Eshmerrik sighed as he picked Nadishi up. "Daddy!" she squealed enthusiastically and pointed to Irideska, "Dagon! "I know, darling, Irideska is a dragon." "I suppose they told you?", Nardik grinned behind his desk. "Indeed, and I hardly think you've gotten anywhere while Nadishi is here." "Actually, we were productive anyway," Nesryn defended the situation with her head laid sideways and a thoughtful look. "Yes, sometimes a different perspective helps," Irideska giggled as she changed back into her human form. Again Nadishi squealed with joy and jumped around in Eshmerrik's arms. Nardik came around and took it off with a smile. "Now admit it, you would do the same if you could." Eshmerrik took a deep breath. "You are really driving me crazy." "Come on, can you resist those eyes?" With these words, Nardik held Nadishi to his face. "Damn it, you'll get your way." "What am I missing now?" Nesryn had gotten up by now and was brushing her clothes off. "We're rebuilding part of the office for the little sweetie pie." Eshmerrik could only growl. Sometimes he really wanted to break his husband's neck. "On one condition?" "What is it, sweetheart? Nardik didn't react to the angry looks Eshmerrik gave him. "Once you're done, you'll have a lunch date every day. With me." "We'll work that out, won't we, sweetie pie?" Nadishi bounced up and down in Nardik's arms. At that moment, Eshmerrik had to admit to himself that he would probably never stand a chance against both together.

A short NaNo excerpt
Here a small excerpt from Chapter 3. Nesryn and Nardik travel together for about two days now and she is still skeptical about being in a different world even if differences aren’t deniable. She just fully understood the high position Nardik has back in Thorkglesh and doesn’t know what to say now. Nesryn is just a simple office worker who fell into this different world by accident. Nardik the asisstant of the highest dragon of Thorkglesh which makes him one of the most powerful people. Alashtaire is the highest dragon of Thorkglesh, and also the principle of the magic academy.
He [Nardik] looked over to her from the corner of his eyes and tried to figure out why she suddenly went silent. Nardik reached into his provisions bag. He knew Eshmerrik would let him off the hook for getting fewer sweets from the south when he knew it helped to cheer someone up. A soft smile appeared on Nardik’s face as he thought of his husband. Nesryn noticed he handed her a small bar of chocolate. With a smirk she accepted it. “At least you have chocolate.” “Why shouldn’t we?” “Dunno, another world, other plants and such.” She shrugged while she ripped the paper off the chocolate bar. Nardik looked surprised as she handed him half the bar. “You will surely get along with Eshmerrik.”, he commented with a shake of his head. “Your husband, right?” Nardik nodded while chewing. “He is the highest healer and the best of his field of work. He will do everything for his patients, sometimes even dangerous stuff. More than once did Alashtaire force him to take his vacation to give him time to regain his powers.” It was audible how proud Nardik was of his husband, what made Nesryn smile. “And what is his opinion about your journeys?” Nardik burst out laughing and couldn’t stop for minutes. “Did I say something wrong?” “No, everything fine.”, he still laughed and wiped the tears from his eyes, “But his opinion on my journeys are… changing? When I prepare myself for a new journey he hates it and it actually happened more than once that he wouldn’t talk to me for days, but once I am back he wants a detailed travel report and woe is me to come back without treats.” Nesryn also started to snicker. Involuntarily she got the mental picture of Nardik holding the sweets in front of him when he meets his husband after a long journey to make sure his head won’t be ripped off for his long absence.

7/7/7 Tag version 2
I was tagged by @kainablue who also came up with this new version  Find your favourite sentence (or a paragraph) on each of the last 7 pages you’ve written. Copy and paste those 7 out-of-the-context snippets. And then tag some peeps. “Gotcha.” She blinked confused at him [Nardik]. Without a word she sled out of the saddle to stand in front of him. The next moment he pressed her onto himself, let go of her and examined her if she was wounded whereby she could sense the water magic, and at the end he grabbed her face with his gloved hands and looked deep into her eyes. “Don’t ever do this again.” His serious expression alone told her he would get the idea to bind her if she would run away again. “I promise. It was a stupid idea.” “I should slap you.” “I guess, I deserve this.” “And more.” Nesryn started to feel uncomfortable since he still held her tight and stared her down. Because of her nervous movements he realized how close they still stood and let go of her out of the sudden. Behind him Nardik heard an annoyed sigh and how money changed its owner. The laughter of Nesryn told him his assumption that the group bet on something was right. I know that were more than seven but who cares. :D  I tag @writerlyclaire @i-rove-rock-n-roll @siarven @gettingitwrite @lady-redshield-writes @carumens And everybody who would love to do it. Don’t feel forced to do it.

So @athenixrose had this list of asks and I was borded due to headache so I answered them ALL Oh, and Athena? You can always spam my ask box.^^ 1. What was the last thing you worked on regarding your WIP? Regarding “Guild Hunter Sojan” it was writing the main WIP for camp NaNo. Thinking about the new still unnamed WIP it was toying around with Artbreeder to have a face claim.
2. Who is your eldest OC in terms of how long have they existed outside of the story and when did you create them? My oldest OC in general would by my Star Trek RP character Jiskah Bental. My oldest OC for a original story… must be Tamara, who is the MC of a dystopian novel.
3. How do you go about deciding what your ocs look like and what their names are? Oof, sometimes I have the name as a first thing somehow. Most of the times it is either having an idea what their name should mean and search on babyname sites or I play around with fantasynamegenerator for fantasy stories.
4. First person or third person and why? I prefer third person because I like to explain everything around, even if I start to have a tendency for close 3rd person and just have an AU for my WIP on 1st person. I actually consider writing the new WIP in 1st person. Would be a challenge.
5. How many OCs have you cut out of a story because you couldnt fit them in?
I don’t cut out OCs, they become more, like rabbits.
6. Have you ever tried to create a WIP for all the ocs you've had to cut out of other WIPs? Well, I have orphaned OCs from stories I shelfed or threw out and have to start anew, it would be fun putting them all together.
7. Who is the hardest oc to write and why? From all OCs of mine….Nardik and Deca because they are …. Sort of like Loki and they force me to think way ahead then I usually do.
8. Hardest part of writing, in your opinion? editing. I hate it. It is my personal hell.
9. Which OC and which WIP has had the most changes over the amount of time you've been working on your WIP? Mystical World. It started as AU fanfic, I took the world I created as base for an original story, the MC had 2 name changes, the plot has to change for a third time, the audience changed twice. I don’t know why but this thing is feral like hell.
10. Would you ever work on a WIP with someone else if you aren't already? I used to write fanfics with two friends and we took turns writing the next passage, so yeah, if there is someone I like and who I can compromise about the style, why not. Could be fun doing it again.
11. How many abandoned WIP ideas do you have? I don’t abandon, I put them on the stove to cook slowly until they are ready. The only thing I abandoned for real is this sci-fi trilogy.
12. Why did you abandon a WIP? Oh that is kinda stupid. I wanted to do it “like the big authord” and planned so much for this, had this big cast way too big for my skill back then, and already a trilogy from what I planned, lots of worldbuilding and then…. I burned myself out with all the planning. That’s how I learned the hard way I am not a planner.
13. Are your family interested in your writing? Actually, my father and my brother also write. We kinda throw ideas around and help each other out sometimes. Strangely, I am the one who gets asked when it is either worldbuilding or style/structural asks….
14. Who would you say has been the greatest influence in your writing and why them? I would say each author I read multiple books from had influence on me. Either I saw things I liked and wanted to emulate or I saw things I wanted to do differently. The biggest influences would be the German author Wolfgang Hohlbein, who wrote the first YA in German and a lot of varying genres like thriller, historical, supernatural and such. Anne Rice, no matter how she is as a person, also had an influence on me through her vampire Lestat books. I loved the books as a teen/young adult.
15. If you could change anything about your writing, what would it be? Less overwriting? Cutting out scenes so painful.

Sunday Love: I can’t believe you did this
@sunday-romance what an awesome prompt. I almost wrote smut, just almost So this is just heading to smut *eye wiggle*
Nesryn just longed for a long bath and a quiet day. The last days had been exhausting and a rest was urgently needed. As soon as she unlocked the front door, she heard the water rushing in the bathroom. A smile spread across her face. She knew Lorkin had been on morning duty and probably had the same thought. Shadow and Nyx came to greet her and led her straight to their bowls. Nesryn just shook her head when she saw the cats had already been fed. "Eat up first, divas." Laughing, she went up to the bathroom. The smell of bath oil was already floating towards her. Music was playing in the bedroom. A look over at the door told her that, contrary to her habit, the door had been closed. She took off her coat and keys before she went into the bathroom. What she saw there was something she had not expected. Lorkin sat on the stool she usually used to put everything down there, from teacup to book, before she got into the tub, wearing only underwear. The bathroom was decorated with candles, some of which were certainly scented candles, as strong as the scent of roses hanging in the air. There was also something mixed in that she thought was vanilla. "I can't believe you did that," Nesryn was amazed. "Do you mean the improvised wellness packages at home? Well, I had a little help from Pashyn and Nardik. But now come here and enjoy it." She looked at him skeptically as she slipped out of her shoes. "Why do I get the feeling you want to take a bath with me?" "Because that was the plan." "But declare myself crazy when I got so excited about the extra-large tub." To her surprise, he blushed a little. "I didn't see the point then." "You mean apart from the fact that I can really lay myself out in it?" "I knew you'd want all the space to yourself." "Of course..." Nesryn grinned at him cheekily. It should have surprised her that he used it to get into the tub in front of her, but it did not. After all these years she knew Lorkin well enough. Rolling her eyes, she followed him. The water was hotter than expected, or she had become colder on the way home than expected. Carefully he put his arms around her and slowly pulled her back. "You should relax." "Why do I have the feeling that this is just foreplay?" "Because you are a dirty-minded woman?", Lorkin threw back, the laughter in his voice clearly audible. "Says the man who made a big fuss here. Besides, the bedroom door is closed and that only makes sense if the cats are not supposed to destroy something." The grumbling was hardly audible but still there. "You think too much. It's hard to surprise you." "You surprised me with everything here. The rest was easy to guess." As punishment, Lorkin let water run over her head. "We have to get those dirty thoughts out of your head." It was a fake threat and Nesryn bit her lip not to laugh. "And then what?" "Let's fill it with new ideas." Something about the way he said it, bending his head so far that his mouth was against her ear, sent a shiver down her spine in joyful anticipation. "I am curious."

Adoption Day - An “Always Prepared” Short Story
Hello everyone, since it’s International Adoption Day today and my favorite gay drama couple Nardik and Eshmerrik adopt a little girl about a year after the end of “Always Prepared” I though “Hey, why not combine both?” So here we are with the little story of it came to be that they are dads to a little cutie.
Tumblr media
The question of what Nardik had been up to again occupied Nesryn as she walked through the streets of Thorkglesh to get to him. The way from her home to him was still unfamiliar and it worried her a bit that she had to leave the kittens alone, but it was clear that Nardik had something urgent. Woe betide him if not. When she turned around the corner, she saw him and Eshmerrik already standing in front of the house. The question of what was going on was getting bigger and bigger. Especially when she saw a big grin on both their faces. There was always a need for caution. "Good morning, Neshryn, I hope you're in a good mood." Nardik came up to them with arms stretched out. Smiling, she hugged him to greet him and then Eshmerrik.   "All right, you two, what's going on. It worries me that you're both grinning like you're drunk and up to something stupid." "Oh, no, we wouldn't do anything like that." "You would," Eshmerrik corrected with a wicked sideways glance but immediately looked back at Nesryn, "Irideska has used her newfound powers." "So what?" Nesryn did not quite understand the context. "We can finally adopt!" Nardik had almost half the neighborhood screaming with enthusiasm. But Nesryn looked at him with surprise. "I thought they wouldn't let you because you didn't have a big family in the background." "Well, actually, yes. But Irideska kindly pointed out that close friends are part of the family, so we have a big family." Eshmerrik's giggle was a little infectious. She could imagine the two of them nearly bursting with enthusiasm. "That's great news. But why am I here?" Now she got scared for good, the way Nardik looked at her. "Quite simply, as often as you're with us, and since we're colleagues and friends, you'll be the one with the most to do with the child after us. Besides, we were hoping you could be her aunt." The frantic blinking didn't help Nesryn understand what Nardik had just said. "Are you all right?" Eshmerrik looked at her worried. There he was all healer again. "Yeah, I think so. Give me a second. You're having a daughter?" They exchanged glances, and the two of them had the same big grin on their faces. "If all goes well, yes. Nadishi is such a sweet, bright little thing, but nobody wants to adopt her because her family is unknown. She was found one morning on the doorstep of the orphanage." "The poor thing... How old is she?" "Just over a year. She's just beginning to learn to walk." Amazingly, it was Eshmerrik who sounded so proud, as if she were already his daughter.
"Wow, that's... wow. But why am I here today?" "We want you to get to know each other before she moves in. To make it easier for Nadishi." Slowly, Nesryn began to understand. Nodding, she slowly thought about it. "A heads-up would have been nice." "But then the fun would have been half as great." For a split second, she wanted to snap Nardik's neck but didn't go through with it. "All right, you two dads, let's go to the orphanage. Seriously, you're all killing me. First, Lorkin comes in with kittens, and now you. What's next? Pashyn is pregnant?" "That won't happen anytime soon," Eshmerrik assured her in all seriousness. Gently he turned her around and pushed her to get her moving. The way to the orphanage was not exceptionally long but marked by a tense silence. Nesryn had to admit that she had never thought about where the orphanage was located. From far away she could hear the older children playing in the garden. "Say, there's one thing I never understood. When family is so important: why is there an orphanage?" "It sometimes happens that parents prove incapable of raising their children. Then the children end up here. Or a family already has many children and doesn't know how to help feed the youngest child. Sometimes children end up here because of affairs or when the parents don't feel ready for a child. Usually the children are not here for long. There are always couples who want to adopt a child." Something about the way Nardik explained it made Nesryn's stomach feel funny. "Sounds like the same reasons as in my world. The only difference is that in my world it's extremely difficult to adopt. They even check out your grandparents." Eshmerrik stopped and looked at her confused. "Why is that? We just had to give credit for what we do, the families are checked how big they are and how close you live to each other, and Nardik and I had to take parenting classes." "Ah, that's why you've been hard to reach lately," Nesryn said, "I was wondering. But in my world, you could start doing the parenting classes. Too often, children are adopted just to look good or put in foster care, so you get the money." "Fostering?" Nardik asked confusedly. "It's sort of a preliminary stage to adoption. You must take classes and then you take care of a child and you get money from the state. Sometimes the children are adopted but often it's only for a short time because they go back to their families of origin." "I don't want to imagine what that does to the children..." Eshmerrik became silent, and by the look on his face he started to brood over this thought. "There's nothing we can do about it anyway. It's a different world. Let's focus on Nadishi now." Nardik had put his arm around Eshmerrik's hip and smiled at him. "Yes, you're right." Nesryn was already sorry she even started it. She had underestimated how much Eshmerrik would think about it. In silence, they entered the orphanage. One of the caretakers came up to meet them. "Ah, I see you are punctual. Nadishi is waiting excitedly. It is amazing how such a small child can remember the days so well." While Nardik and Eshmerrik grinned, Nesryn also had to smile. It seemed that the two men were not the only ones who couldn't wait. "She seems to be a really smart girl," Nardik commented and turned to Nesryn, "This is our close friend Neshryn." "The auntie-to-be, it seems?" "Yes, you might say that. Sometimes I feel like I'm more with Nardik than at home." "Very well, Nadishi will need a woman in her life to look up to," explained the educator seriously, pointing the group towards following her. Fortunately, she did not see Nesryn and Nardik exchanging amused looks. Whether it was so clever to take Nesryn as a role model was still a question that had to be answered. She was about as much Mistreskian as a fish is to flying. In a smaller garden the small children and babies sat together playing. No sooner had they walked through the door than a little black-haired girl crawled towards them and babbled happily. Nardik got down on his knees and picked her up. "Hello Nadishi, are you happy to see us?" Nadishi threw herself into his shoulder with all his strength and laughed up. It was fascinating to see how she trusted Nardik. "Let's go over there to the benches," Eshmerrik suggested. The longing look that he wanted to take the little one in his arms as well, was barely visible. Nesryn already knew that they would have a hard time separating from Nadishi for the work. No sooner had they sat down Nadishi noticed the new face and looked at Nesryn curiously. "Well, you curious rascal, am I confusing you?" She tickled Nadishi's neck a little. "I think she is trying to assess you," Eshmerrik laughed, because at that moment Nadishi threw herself forward and landed in his arms. It was hard to overlook how agile Nadishi was. She patted Eshmerrik's face with her little hands and was happy. Nesryn could only giggle at the sight, especially because Nadishi had the dark complexion of Nardik but surprisingly green eyes. Until then she did not know that this was possible and wondered if it was a sign that Nadishi had magic. The wish to find Ashni sprouted for a moment, even though Nesryn knew that the personification of magic would not necessarily answer her question. "It's time for Aunt Neshryn to do something." "Do what?" Before she could react, she had Nadishi in her lap. They both looked at each other confused for a moment until Nesryn smiled at her. "Your daddy caught us by surprise, huh?" More by instinct, she started with a finger play she remembered. She did not know if the translation magic worked for Nadishi or not, but it was clear that she was watching very carefully. When she was tickled at the end everything was fine and she decided that Nesryn was okay. Less than five minutes later Nadishi had snuggled up to her and watched everything around her. "You have a knack for kids," Nardik teased her. "I think it's more because I'm not completely overexcited with joy. And how can you not like them? Right, Nadishi? You are a clever and sweet little girl. You are to be liked." Nadishi laughed a little. They took turns holding her so she could walk and explored the garden with her. Nesryn could only marvel at how careful Nadishi was with animals. Every butterfly and every bee were greeted with laughter and yet Nadishi always stayed at a distance and did not even try to touch the animals. She tried to imagine what would happen if Nadishi met Shadow and Nyx. The probability that all three would fall asleep somewhere was high. "Excuse me, but it's time for dinner," another educator addressed her from the side. A little embarrassed, the three looked at each other. "It's that late?" Nardik almost sounded like a stubborn infant himself. To some extent, Nesryn could understand. Time had flown by. "Yes, it's noon already. But maybe you want to go to the home office before you go home?" That was the hint they got. "Hey, clever peanut, it's time for your lunch." Eshmerrik had busted Nadishi. Judging by her watery look, she knew what was coming. "We love you very much and we want you to come home as soon as possible. I promise you that." After Nardik and Eshmerrik had cuddled her once more the teacher quickly accepted her before Nadishi really started to cry. Unfortunately, it was not successful, and she started to cry bitterly when she was carried through the door. Nesryn had to admit that she also had a lump in her throat. Nadishi was already so clearly attached to Nardik and Eshmerrik that it was almost torture to separate them again. "We should go to the administration," she suggested, before the two future dads started crying as well. The way to the home leadership was not long but she could see Nardik and Eshmerrik that they felt as if they were being taken to the Sheepot. Nesryn waited outside the office so the two of them could settle it alone in peace. While she waited, she wondered what would happen if the management of the home were to cross the finishing line of the adoption. In any case, she was glad that neither of them was a Fire Mage, that was for sure. "Neshryn?" Nardik's voice got her out of her brooding. She had not noticed how the door had opened. She looked up and saw two extremely happy faces. "This looks like good news." "The day after tomorrow, we can officially take Nadishi home. I guess being here every day for six months has helped. She could not tell which one had the widest grin, but she was sure that Nadishi's grin would widen once she realized she was home.
