managed to sleep badly again.

papyrus definitely noticed.

we were making pancakes and i almost burned myself without even realizing.

says he might make me go to bed earlier for now.

could help, could end up with extra time spent staring at the ceiling.

tried to read something but all the words looked like they melted together on the page.

when i was talkin' to alphys, she said undyne and her were having trouble too.

that whole thing with tori the other night, plus knowing how long frisk has been secretly staying up, combined with the other's sleep issues, i realize...

"nobody can sleep lately, huh?"

he showed it to me. sure enough, fully solved.

"so, was this what you did instead of sleeping?"

papyrus tapped his foot twice and rocked a little.

so we invited everyone over and got a blanket fort going.

papyrus covered the floor in every comforter, pillow, and cushion he could find.

i let myself fall backwards onto the now bed-like floor. frisk copied me, falling backwards and almost hitting me. probably intentionally.

"hey. i'm no pillow."

they positioned themselves horizontally so that their head was resting on me as if i really were one.

".....well."

they looked at me and giggled, getting comfortable.

"..guess i am now. can't argue with that."

"YO! PAPYRUS!"

rotating around on his knees with flowey on his lap.

"YEEES?"

"Can you toss me that long one?"

undyne pointed to the pillow near his feet.

handing flowey to toriel for a moment, papyrus grabbed the pillow and hurled it at undyne.

she caught it and added it to the section she was building with napstablook.

a pile of cushions draped with a blanket sat directly in front of the tv. i hear mettaton and alphys quietly discussing what to put on.

"Ooh, this is such a good one."

"But will it make for good background noise?"

"Here, let me suggest a nighttime 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤."

the tv changed to display a movie thumbnail of mettaton in branded pajamas and a stuffed toy of some kind in his arms.

"......."

"Oh, you're so 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, dear."

swapping to one where he's holding a book while laying sideways over an armchair by a fireplace.

"The storytime one 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 be perfect for this."

alphys glanced at the runtime.

hint: far too long.

"..Yeah, i-it'll definitely put everyone to sleep."

"With my soothing voice? Of course it will."

"Uhuh."

the tv was put on low, though i think papyrus was the only one paying much attention to it.

mettaton moved over to sleep next to napstablook in their pillow-enclosure-thing that undyne is proud to have contributed to.

it took a long time for everyone to settle, but the second the lights were off most of them were out.

alphys and undyne were in the couch, but undyne slowly slid to the floor over time, ending upsidedown. she seemed unphased. alphys got up and laid on the cushioned floor beside her to make up for the movement.

i looked down at the child mostly asleep sprawled across me like a dog in a dog bed and pulled a blanket over them.

speaking of dog; the little thing appeared at some point. even it needed sleep apparently, curling up by my feet with a surprising calmness.

tori's been semi-buried under some pillows (flowey's doing) and is peacefully asleep like that.

on the opposite end of the spectrum, papyrus is asleep within a gap in the floor cushion layer where it opens directly to the carpet of our living room. despite being odd, he seems to have found it comfortable enough.

flowey's propped up with some pillows between the two of them.

and i should probably be closing my sockets too.

my brain: does napstablook know that mettaton is their cousin? he keeps calling them Blooky, and who else called them that? Mad Mew Mew must know, given the ghost juice dialogue in the winter alarm clock, but what about everyone else? not to mention, it'd be pretty odd (haha p!atd reference) if he suddenly hung out with napstablook and shyren out of the blue. so how could they not know? but how did that conversation go? or did they both always know that mettaton was their old friend? do you think he told them and only them? and the general public just thinks that shyren and napstablook are there just because they're talented? how would people find out? when would people find out? how would Alphys feel if the truth came out? everyone thinks that she created Mettaton's soul, and her determination experiments were already revealed to the public. how would Undyne feel, knowing that her neighbor's cousin that disappeared was actually alphys's annoying robot friend? is mettaton trying to hide his past, or is he not afraid of people knowing?

Another question about your Sans/Napstablook AU, do you think Tear would float away in OuterTale? Like, if he visits, does he have to lug around a rock to keep his plush body from floating away? And how well would his puppet react to being soaked in water, like if he visited an underwater AU? Again, you don't have to answer if it's spoilers, and I find this AU very interesting while excitedly waiting for more!

In Outertale, he would be able to stand on the ground in places its residents can too. In an underwater AU, Tear's body will start to fill with water. He would sink till he is stuck at the bottom of the ocean. He doesn't know how to swim and cannot teleport.

Year One

Very happy 1st birthday to Underzom! Each year, in celebration of its creation, I'll be hosting an askblog.

Submissions are easy, and I'm very lenient on what info I give out.

Questions will be answered by the character it pertains to (if possible), or even by me, the creator.

Overview:

Underzom is a zombie apocalypse AU. Despite the original game taking place in an underground cave, Underzom takes place on the surface due to a peaceful ending to the monster-human war. The apocalypse started from an outbreak causing people to act aggressively and irrationally.

The story follows Alphys as she tries to find the cause (and cure) while living in a commune consisting of other monsters that grouped up to survive.

There's a lot to learn; there's a lot to ask! I try to keep the story as vague as possible to leave people questioning, but I have no intentions on hiding any information on this blog. The chances of an actual comic are... slim, but it IS what I want.

Plot:

Each year will follow a new installment/chapter of the Underzom story. This year, the first year, will follow the very beginning;

Alphys and the team of scientists struggle to find a cure after Sans left the department to focus on his militia work. Rumors got around the militia team, and later the small colony, of a peculiar zombie that seems to not movie, even if noise is made nearby. The word spread to Alphys, and she got an idea.

With the help of Sans and the militia member that started the rumor (Asriel), Alphys sets out to find the zombie and bring it back to the compound without getting detected. Her plans are to experiment on and try to find a cure without using mindless lab rats.

That zombie, of course, is Frisk.

Major Character Differences:

Asriel is alive and grown up, about young adult age. He had no reason to die in this AU (yet). Despite this, Chara is still dead.

Papyrus died.

Napstablook found a physical body to pair with.

Toriel and Asgore are still married, but are definitely feuding.

You won't find many of the minor UT cast (Vendors and characters like froggit, vulkin, and snowdrake.) This may be due to the fact that there's no major role for them to have, or because they just haven't been introduced yet.

Frisk is unable to communicate.

Any asks pertaining characters that have died, can't communicate, or aren't in the story can STILL be asked about, but will either be answered by another character or by me.

Start date: August 25th, 2024

End Date: December 31st, 2024.

I am really happy u liked this! And I had so much more too. Like, Ep3 and Ep4 (esp. Ep4, but Ep3 gave a lot too) had so much interesting stuff to chew on, theorize about, and talk about. So you will probably be seeing more analyses and character analyses from me. Hopefully before the next episode comes out. And hopefully in general. I know I can be bad about actually doing things timely or at all, lol. But hey, at least when I do stuff, I tend to go all out! Like with my Asks. Hahaha.

Anyways, u will probably be seeing more analyzing, rambling, etc. from me in the form of Asks, reblogs, replies, comments, etc. One of those "etc." being me just making a post, probably putting it and/or at least some stuff under a "read more" and just tagging you at times (if I do, and if I do, it probably won't be all that often) my thoughts and stuff, if that is okay.

Which u certainly do. Like, u do this so well, and so much better, than a lot of people (not other people don't do it well, or that other people who don't do it as well, can't do stuff well too. But like, I just think u are one of the best at portraying characters)

Oh yeah, this happens quite often. I certainly see it happen with UT characters, and it certainly happens with the skelebros. They can get particularly bad when it comes to this, or when it comes to focusing too much on extremes in general, instead of doing more nuanced takes, for very nuanced characters.

Understandable then, u might not be able to show his yellow eye much in DR then. Yeah, the focus on red, purple, and yellow is really cool. Also other colors too. DR has such cool use of colors and color palettes and stuff. Ur other stuff too; though their color focuses are usually different. Like Bonnytale and Underhell.

Happy we will get to see his yellow eye in BT, and maybe UH. I love Sans' blue eye very much, but I feel like his yellow eye doesn't get shown as much. Even though it is also cool and fits Sans. Plus, while the blue eye and clothes look really cool. Blue and yellow also look really good together imo.

I am back once again after having both read all ur answers to my Asks. Thank u so much for loving them and some of the ideas I gave for ur HH AU. And now, having also finally finished Ep3 and Ep4 of Dead Ringer. And OMG, they were so good. I think Ep3 and Ep4 are my favorite episodes now; even though all the episodes are great.

I adore how u write everyone, but the way u write Sans (both Dust/Murder Sans and the other Sans) and Paps (both Phantom and the other Paps). As well as Chara and Frisk are esp. great and a real highlight. I have a feeling they are going to be great in Bonnytale and ur Hazbin Hotel AU, considering how u do them in Dead Ringer, and what I have seen of those AUs. Alphys is great too.

And the bits we got with Mettaton, Napsta, and Mad Mew Mew were both funny and interesting (no wonder Mettaton looked scared, he was able to tell Dust wasn't their Sans. Find it so interesting and cool how the ghost monsters can tell he isn't their Sans).

Haven't seen that much of Asgore and Toriel, but they seem sweet, and I love how they look (I really love how u give them rectangle goat eye pupils). Oh, and Flowey in Ep4 in the flashbacks was awesome! Probably one of my favorite Floweys now. Loved Flowey's dynamic with Sans and Paps too.

I now understand even more why both Sanses should be on an FBI watchlist now. I will say more about this in a reblog or something that I am planning on doing talking about Dead Ringer, because I don't want to bombard ur Asks so much and stuff.

(Edit: This has gotten longer than expected. And I am going to have to do separate Asks anyways again. Lol. I do still plan to probably say even more in reblogs, comments, or whatever though).

But I will say this; God, do I love when Sans more moral grayness and/or dark sides and stuff are explored, and do that VERY well. They are both so twisted, to a point, that I don't even know which Sans is more twisted (will say more about this in my reblog or whatever, hopefully). They are both so supremely screwed up.

(I am pretty damn sure the flashbacks - which btw in one of those flashbacks, one of the later ones, the fricken art that focused on Sans and his blue eye and the leaves or something in the BG when he was talking about Frisk and their utter hatred for them and other disturbing stuff and then flashing over to a more of a Dust Sans, looking Sans in Judgement Hall all in red was freaking gorgeous, terrifying, and haunting. Man, Sans' blue eye, can be just as terrifying and cold, if not, even more so sometimes, as Dust's more red ones. I wonder how Sans' yellow eye could look in ur style -

(We see in Ep4 is the Sans, Dust is trying to replace, not Dust, and then there is the stuff that gets revealed when Phantom conjures up mimics of both their brothers and stuff. Frisk not wanting to say stuff about their Sans to Dust Sans, when he was questioning them, and the stuff at the very end, after Chara calls him. What he says in the blue text against the black BG. And/or etc. And Dust being twisted is very self-explanatory, I think.

(If I am right about this, that makes that really cool and pretty art that showed the title of the episode, that showed two 2 different Sanses, and I think a scarf, but dead Paps, and alive Paps, even better than it already was).

I am happy both Paps do understand that their brothers (Sans) do love them both very much, in their own, Sans and/or twisted ways, at least.

The two Paps's bonding about their Sanses both being miserable cowards, that don't tell them anything, and push them away, and won't show their pain and suffering, and won't let people in/help them, and how their Sanses do both love them very much, was somehow sad, heartwarming, funny, and messed up all at once.

Ep3 and 4 were very funny at times too; while also being very dark at times. Sometimes they were both funny and dark. Esp. stuff with Sans (both Sanses), Paps (both Paps's), Chara, and Frisk. Flowey too. Though, it makes sense to me, they could have dark humor and/or things could be both funny and dark, considering how these characters are. It is fitting.

Oh, Alphys was also quite funny in the episodes. And Metta got a chuckle or 2 from me. 1/?.

i find exploring the characters, dark sides to be fun mwehehe, especially when it come to portraying them correctly. usually people will get too focused on one aspect (dark/comedy side of their personality) and dismiss the other. I want to be able to capture that perfect balance of unsettledness and fun sides of all the characters, especially the brothers <3

okay, i disagree with you on pretty much every issue it seems, but i'm going to set that all aside for an entirely genuine question born out of pure curiosity.

why are you such an undertale fan, going as far as to have characters in both your banner and profile picture, if you think being lgbtq+ is a sin? alphys and undyne get together. chara, frisk, monster kid, and napstablook all use they/them pronouns. pretty sure mettaton uses he/they/it pronouns.

anyway. genuine question.

I’ll answer this because you asked nicely, I’ve actually answered it several times before.

Murder is also a sin. There’s a genocide route. Even in the pacifist route, there’s murder- Asgore and Asriel.

Undyne is pretty racist and Alphys committed, quite possibly, one of the worst rights abuse cases this side of the planet.

LGBTQ is a sin. Just because a character in a game sins doesn’t make the sin okay or necessarily make the character bad. Undyne is pretty cool. Alphys is alright I guess. She had a pretty integral part to play in freeing the monsters.

Character flaws are a necessity to good storytelling and making compelling characters in most cases.

The game can have good or bad messaging.

Take John 117 as an example. Good man, good character. Massive flaw- he works for the government.

All of those characters’ genders are either left up to interpretation (as per even Toby Fox) or outright called by a proper gender (in the case of MTT, MK, and Napstsblook) in other material. There are ultimately only two genders.

As far as why I like the game…

It’s about a capitalistic, well armed, pro life, religious (Christian), capracratic monarchy that loves adoption and is seeking freedom.
