Happy #nationalbreastfeedingweek to all the mommas out there! Wether you were able to breastfeed or not able because of circumstances please know that you are not alone. Breastfeeding is 𝗙 hard. I had no idea how hard it is. (Ojo: present tense) I may be breastfeeding 🤱🏻 but this has taken so much effort. Every day is a different thing to learn. I was so naive going into my #breastfeedingjourney . I thought it was like you see in movies, you lift the shirt and boom 💥 it all happens. Nope. There is so much more than that. In my case I had a four degree tear so the first 6 weeks I was in so much pain. So much pain that I couldn’t even hold my baby while nursing bc it would be so painful. I was able to figure this whole breastfeeding thing out thanks to Lactatiant consultant, Becky. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her guidance. The first month of breastfeeding I was lucky if I slept an hour or two a day (and I am not exaggerating). My baby had lost so much weight that I had to breastfeed on demand. So if it meant go on it for 24 hrs without any sleep I was on it. But no sleep and the stress also doesn’t help milk production. So where do I find this balance? I cried so much. Being a good mom and taking care of my wellbeing has been hard. It still is hard. I just have to remember the end result. I wanted this bond with my Matteo and to nurture him. I’ve cried so many times... combination of lack of sleep, being in postpartum pain and the stress that comes with breastfeeding. So if you see a woman nursing her baby in public offer her a smile and let her know she’s doing an 𝐀𝗺𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 job. And if there are any bellezas out there looking forward to breastfeeding I strongly wholeheartedly suggest you get with a Lactatiant consultant before your baby is born.
