Mike is starving, when the Burners get him back from Kane finally. Not literally, but he hasn’t eaten in two days, and Jacob makes him take it slow with some chicken soup before letting him at the pizza. When he’s full, and looking a lot better, Chuck and Dutch pull him up to his room.

Dutch tugs gently at Mike’s jacket, and Mike laughs a little and lets him pull it off. Chuck reaches for the hem of Mike’s t-shirt and Mike blinks at him, then raises his arms so Chuck can pull it off over his head.

“Let us take care of you, man,” Dutch says softly.

Mike looks between him and Chuck, wide-eyed, then swallows and nods hesitantly.

“Good,” Chuck says, and brushes Mike’s bangs off his forehead to kiss him there before feeling like an idiot and ducking out of the room to fetch supplies.

Mike’s got a black eye, a split lip, and heavy bruises all over his ribs. Chuck and Dutch don’t let him tend to a single scratch, they take care of all of it, washing and disinfecting anywhere the skin’s broken, especially the battered skin on his wrists where the shackles bruised and scraped him. Then they dab nanocream carefully over every scratch and bruise, Chuck doing his best to be gentle, and bandage his wrists.

Mike shivers under their hands, breathing very deliberately, and at first Chuck thinks they’re triggering unpleasant memories or something, but when he catches Dutch’s eye and pulls his hands away, and Dutch does too, Mike makes a raw, involuntary little noise, lifting his head to stare at Chuck.

"Oh, hey, no," Chuck says, and puts a careful hand on Mike's shoulder. Mike leans into it, sagging all over in relief.

"We got you, man," Dutch says, going back to spreading nanocream over one of the bruises sprawling across his ribs. "You're okay now."

"I know," Mike says, with an unconvincing attempt at his usual confident smile. "I'm fine, I'm good."

"You're not fine," Chuck sighs, patting that shoulder. "But you will be." He hesitates before wrapping an arm around Mike, as stupidly worried as ever about going too far, assuming too much, but not only does Mike not shrug his arm off and look annoyed, he slumps against Chuck, drinking in the contact. Chuck keeps holding him while Dutch finishes up, and then Dutch sits on Mike's other side with an arm around him, and Mike leans into them both with a long sigh and doesn’t protest again.

And you also need to consider how your body is taking in the food you do decide to eat. Are enough nutrients being absorbed? Is your digestive track flowing smoothly or is it a blocked-up, uncomfortable mess? No matter your concern, there is an essential oil that can support your goals.

Here are a few of our favorite essential oils and blends to support your weight loss goal. Keep in mind that we can all experience essential oils in our own unique way, so personal experimentation may be in order! Hopefully, this list will provide you with a jumping off point for your journey:

The sweet, fresh, citrusy aroma of this essential oil isn’t the only thing it’s good for. Grapefruit actually works to activate enzymes that help your body break down brown body fat, which is a special type of fat that can burn calories at a very high rate. In fact, brown body fat can generate three hundred times more heat than any other tissue in the body [1]! Not only that, but Grapefruit is rich in certain compounds, such as D-limonene, that help support the metabolism. It also supports the cleansing and drainage of lymphatic glands, allowing for better nutrient absorption in tissues and the bloodstream [2].

To use, diffuse alone or in a blend, or dilute to 1% in a carrier oil and apply topically to the stomach to help support the digestive system.

When you’re trying to lose weight, it’s important to consider ways to support your digestion and absorption of nutrients. Ginger Root CO2 contains the constituent gingerol, which has been shown to reduce disease-causing inflammation in your intestines and overall improve absorption of the vitamins and minerals you’re consuming [3]. This warm, spicy scent may be familiar to cooking enthusiasts, but did you know you can use Turmeric Essential Oil to help provide comfort to stomach issues? When uncomfortable bloating, gas, and cramping is deterring you away from your weight loss goals, add a couple of drops to a teaspoon of your favorite carrier oil and massage onto the abdomen.
