The reception began and so did my drinking. I sat my butt at the bar, and pretty much stayed there all night. Nobody bothered me, and I felt completely alone, even with the warm alcohol feeling. All of my memories with Romeo flooded my mind, and it left me empty. I snuck off to my room, so the girls wouldn't see me this way, and I fell asleep.

When Twyla came into our lives, it was hush hush. Romeo and I were having a thing, at least I thought we were, and then when that ended, she was his new woman. My first impression was that she was fake, but I've realized she's exactly who she is. Fran was very young when Twyla announced her pregnancy, and I think that really confused her. Tasha was just angry, angry that it wasn't me, because she always wanted me to be happy. Tasha, since then, hasn't gotten along with her new step-mother at all, no matter how much I've tried. Now, my job is in jeopardy, and I have to strive to be the best nanny, even if it's only for the girls and Leonardo. A strange part of me, feels like I need to stay for Romeo too, but I push that out of my mind, and snap back to the ceremony.

Leo joined the girls, and he looked happy to see his mother and father getting married. The girls looked less excited, but that was to be expected. Twyla, came out, walking rather quickly, to be honest. To me, the look on her face was determination, not love, but that's not my business anymore. She's made that clear.

Sitting in my seat, I felt finally tied down... away from Romeo. I'd made the decision long ago to "just be the nanny", and now, that's what I had to be. It should now, only be about the girls, and Leo, too. Watching Francesca, all grown up, go join her father, smiling was because of me. I gave her the confidence to handle this wedding. She lost her mother, but maybe Twyla would be a better one. If she isn't, it's my job to be there instead.

I headed out to the hall, where Romeo was waiting for the wedding to start. It had been a pretty long while since we'd talked, but I knew I should say something. I stood in front of him, and he seemed not to see me, so I cleared my throat, "Romeo?" He finally looked my way, and his eyes widened, "Poppy! Wow, I'm not used to seeing you this way." I blushed under my makeup, "Thanks, Romeo. Your bride looks even better." It was weird between us now. "Well, I guess I should sit." He looked to the hallway, "Yea." I walked to my seat.

While I was doing the finishing touches on my makeup, I heard a quiet knock on my door. The girls were told to come wait here until they had to walk out. I went to let them in, but Saw that Francesca had already walked in, and Tasha was coming in after her. "Fran, its rude to barge into ... rooms. Hey, Poppy," Tasha said. "You girls are always welcome here. You both look so beautiful." Fran looked out of sorts, so I turned back to her, "Are you alright, darling?" She shrugged, "I don't know yet, Poppy." I smiled, trying to reassure her, "What don't you know?" I asked. "I don't know anything. About the wedding, about Twyla, and about my life." I took her hand, and squeezed it, "Franny, everything works out how its supposed to. Your sister and I will help you along the way, and you'll be fine." She smiled, and nodded. "Now, let me go take my seat. See you girls out there," I said, leaving them in my room.

I was called to the master bedroom to be a judge of how Twyla looked. I opened the door, my eyes turned away and said, "Are you decent?" She said yes, so I looked up. My eyes found her standing in front of the mirror, "Wow," is all I could say. She was wearing a white gown, but, of course it had a green layer underneath. "Is the wig too much? Will Romeo like it?" she asked me. "Uhm, I believe he will love it. It looks beautiful and refreshing." She dismissed me to go get ready for myself. The wedding area was already set up in the hall.

I looked over to Romeo, to see his expression. He was serious, so I risked to say what was on my mind, "Romeo, you know I'm trying. I'm trying to put the child first is all." He looked to me, with what looked like pain in his eyes. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Twyla raise her eyes and smirk. "Poppy," he sighed, and I knew he was about to hurt me, "If you do not start cleaning and picking up what you've been ignoring in this household, I will be forced to let you go." My heart beat faster, as I realized what this meant, "But, Romeo, please. I have nothing else but you! I don't even..." I trailed off as he stood with Twyla, and they left me in the office alone.

Twyla looked to me, no expression clearly on her face. "I guess I should start by saying that I was upset at you, but Romeo has convinced me to let it slide this time." I smiled a little, knowing that Romeo was still looking out for me. "Of course, If it happens again, I'll take action against you, Miss Reed." She put her hand to her chin, considering something, "Now, where should I start. The mansion has been looking atrocious, as I'm sure you must be aware. It's filthy, and I don't know why that is." I nodded, "I'm sorry, Miss, but I've just been busy, with..." Interrupted, "With my son, I know. Listen, Poppy, this is your job, not mine. You need to find a way to make it work." She pointed her finger at me, "You have to do what you were hired to do."

I picked up the new intercom system that had been ringing in the nursery, "Hello?". On the other line was Romeo, "Hey Poppy, are you busy?" I sighed, looking back at Leonardo, "I have a minute." I heard Twyla say to hurry up, Romeo rushed the next few words before hanging up, "Can you come down and speak with us. We're in the downstairs office." When I came down, Romeo was comforting Twyla, who looked pretty upset, probably from the other meeting we had. I cleared my throat, and Romeo turned around, "Poppy, let's sit down." Twyla went behind the desk as she had before, which left Romeo and I sitting on the other side. She was definitely the boss now, and I was hoping she wouldn't be another Dora. Before sitting, I asked, "Look, Romeo, if this is about what I said to Twyla, I didn't mean anything by it." Romeo crossed infront of me to sit in the other chair, "It's not that Poppy, though we did speak about it. Twyla has decided to let it go, and so have I. This is just a meeting about your work."

Francesca and Tasha were playing chess in the study, when I walked back to the nursery. "Who's winning?" I asked, peaking my head into the room. "I am," Tasha said proudly. "Do you want to play, Poppy?" Fran asked me. "I'm sorry girls, but I have to get back to your brother now. Raincheck!" I yelled from the hall.

I was called from the nursery, where I'd been teaching Leonardo his skills, to sit in the small office area with Twyla. She'd begun to wear her wig again. "Please, sit," she instructed. "I'm sorry, but where is Romeo?" I asked her. "What do you need him for?" she replied, throwing her hands up. I just stayed quiet. "Poppy, I'm marrying your boss, Mr.Rosseti. Therefore, I become your boss as well. I think you can learn to accept that, and adjust to the small change," She raised an eyebrow, "I hope you're alright with a few changes, Miss Reed." I leaned forward, smiling, "Quite alright, with change Miss Summers. I do need a bit more time to spend with your son, so that he's ready for school." Twyla was shocked that I would challenge her, but I was in no mood for this conversation. "Well, then. Let me clear something up for you Poppy Reed. You will abide by my new rules and requirements, and you will be sure that my son is ready for schooling. You are going to respect me Reed," she said waving her finger at me, "Or I'll have you fired."

"I just thought, you know, he'd stay for a few minutes, or something," Francesca says, eating her cake. "I'm so sorry, Francesca," I say. "Fran, you know Twyla is more important then us. Dad doesn't care about any of us! Right, Miss.He lead you on and dropped you in the mud?" She directed that last remark to me. "That's not true, Tasha, please behave yourself," I say even though it is true. Twyla brings home baby Leonardo Rossetti the next evening.

"Oh, that's weird, it almost feels like... like... Oh my gosh! My water broke!" Twyla yells. "Okay, everyone, this is it!" Romeo says, but we're all silent, "Twyla and I are going to the hospital, we'll be back with our little one, tomorrow, I'm sure." Fran is frowning, because it was her turn to age up next. "Oh, sorry, Franny, but Daddy has to be with Twyla right now." Tasha and I cheer her on, and she blows her candles out without her father there.

"Happy birthday, dear Tasha! Happy birthday to you!" we sing, just before she blows out her candles. "My baby is all grown up," I say, then adding, "Well, not my... baby, but you know." Tasha laughs, "You're more of a mom then Dora, Poppy." Twyla looks away, as if this hurts her.
