Honey had been avoiding him, the two shared a passionate night at his place and ever since then it’s all she could think about. Reki and Cherry warned her hell she warned herself but then he gave her those eyes and how could anyone say no to Joe when he makes his ‘pretty please’ puppy face? She followed him into the kitchen, jumped up on the counter and watched him cook, they talked while he fed her this amazing pasta dish then came dessert. Needless to say, it got messy, and they got very playful, homeboy leaned down and licked the cream from the corner of her mouth and said “you’re such a mess” next thing she knows she’s waking up in his bed.

She left before he woke up and ever since then she felt extremely guilty about it, not only that but after the words they exchanged that night? She needed a breather. “Honey! We’re all going to Joe’s after practice. Did you wanna come?” Despite his ill feelings towards the situation Reki still wanted me to come around “No thanks Reki, there’s this dessert I’ve been working on for a few days and I was hoping to perfect it tonight” his shoulders slump in disappointment but he smiled anyway “Call me when it’s done okay? I’ll come right over to taste it” she gives him a smile and waves him out the door.

Hours passed before she finally had a breakthrough, she kept her hair in a big puffy bun practically covered in flour and all kinds of frosting and cream, the sound of the bell chiming interrupts her thoughts “We’re closed!” she called, wiping her hands clean on a nearby rag making her way through the door that leads to the register “I can take your order, but it won’t be ready until…” The sight of Joe makes her pause “hey” she could hear the alarms going off in her head, you know that scene from SpongeBob where his brain was on fire? That’s how it felt. “Honey?” he takes a step forward and she blinks shaking her head “uh, I have um...things in the oven so I gotta go take care of that” she backs into the doors disappearing behind the counter. “What the hell is he doing here” she groans resting her forehead against the wall “Honey?”

“Just a second!” She rushes over to the oven and takes her trays out setting them on the rack “So what are you doing-” she turns nearly running into his chest “...here” he leans down to her eye level with a firm look on his face “You’re avoiding me” his eyes bore into her only adding to her nervousness “I’ve been busy” she mumbles sliding past him “and now you’re lying to me” she sighs picking up one of her finished treats “It’s not a lie, the bakery has been super busy and I’ve been working on this new dessert plus helping Reki study for school”

“And you never had a break, time to pick up your phone? Do you have any idea how many times I’ve called you?” a twinge of guilt follows his words “I’m sorry...can we not do this right now? Please I-” Joe snatches the pastry out of her hand and takes a bite “hey!” he nods, raising his brows in approval “What do you call this?” he opens his mouth to take another bite and she jumps trying to take it away from him “Stop it! I promised Reki he could try it first!” he uses his free hand to hold her back finishing the rest in one bite “Snooze you lose” he smirks “You can either answer my question or you can sit here while I eat this entire tray of...summer delights” I huff crossing my arms “Fine.”

Joe smiles victoriously winking at her as he licked his thumb “So back to you avoiding me” She rolls her eyes taking her apron off “I needed time, okay? I met you like a month ago, girls were hanging off you almost everywhere you went, and I told myself I wouldn’t get involved, Reiki and Cherry even told me it wasn’t a good idea, I let my guard down for just a second and then I woke up naked in your bed. That’s not me, I am not that type of person but for some reason I was willing to break all my rules just for you so yes, I avoided you” he blinks a few times then throws his head back laughing “I’m sorry, I swear I’m not laughing at you.”

She crosses her arms narrowing her eyes at him “okay okay” he clears his throat smiling down at her “There isn’t some magical reason for things like this Hon it’s just life, you let your guard down because you trusted me, I know I come across pretty dense but I know a thing or two about emotions” he rubs my shoulders then slides his hands down to mine giving them a squeeze “I like you, I like the way you get a little frantic when you get nervous and the way you scrunch your nose when you get excited, I like the way you take care of Reki and the boys and I really like seeing you like this, completely free and in your element, you don’t have to run from me-ever”

Honey pouts a little looking up at him “It’s okay you don’t have to say it, I know you like me too” she scoffs playfully rolling her eyes “Why don’t you get cleaned up and we can go on our first date” she raises a brow looking over herself “Seriously? Where would we go this late?”

“I know this really great Italian joint around here somewhere, the owner is a close personal friend” he smirks “oh how generous of him” she chuckles “give me about twenty minutes and I’ll be right out” She nudges him out of the doors then turns to the sink to wash her hands, trying her hardest not to scream out of pure excitement “Hey do you think Reki would mind if I used these on a certain someone’s navel?”
